Frank Barnes
Frank Barnes of St. James, Missouri was born in St. James, Missouri
on May 7, 1926 to Perry and Lina (Kinsman) Barnes and passed away
Friday, June 28, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James at
the age of 87 years.
Frank was united in marriage to Lois Mueller on July 14, 1945 and
to this union three children were born.
Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army during
WWII.
After returning home he went to work at the local factory where he
spent the next 40 plus years with many companies and many hats.
He was a cloth spreader, cutter, and eventually went into the
shipping department.
Frank was a member of the Solid Rock Christian Church.
He enjoyed the outdoors and all sports, he liked to hunt and fish
and play softball, he would later coach softball and be the “grandpa
in charge” at the grandkids sporting events. He also liked playing
rummy.
Frank loved to eat and it was always joked about how he was the
first in line at any gathering, it didn’t matter who or what event
it was, Frank was going to be first in line. Frank loved spending
time with his favorite nephew Leroy Harrison of St. James, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Lina Barnes;
wife, Lois in January 2013; brothers, Lewis and Walter Barnes;
sisters, Bonnie Holman and Edith Bentley.
He is survived by his children, Judi Svoboda and husband Richard,
of Springfield, Missouri, Ricky Barnes and wife Faith of Rolla,
Missouri and Lisa Meier and husband Bob of Roach, Missouri; grand-
children, Kevin and Bryan Roberts, Steven and John Svoboda, Sarah,
Trevor, Connor and Justice Barnes, Cole, Katlyn, Daniel and Kylie
Meier; great grandchildren, Mason and Cadence Roberts; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was Monday, July 1, 2013 at the James & Gahr Mortuary
in St. James, Missouri from 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the St. James
Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary at 11 a.m. with Pastor Craig
Rippy officiating.
Music provided by Alan and Cathy Wynn.
Interment was in the Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens with full
Military Honors.
Serving as pallbearers were his grandchildren.

Betty Louise Brown
Betty Louise Brown of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Jakes Prairie,
Missouri to William Alva and Ada Bland Stack and passed away
Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan
at the age of 84 years.
She married Clinton Brown on July 30, 1947 in Union Missouri.
Betty was the Librarian for the Sullivan Public Library for more
than 30 years. She sold Avon for many years often times being
her own best customer. She attended the Pea Ridge Pentecostal
Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ada Stack;
her husband, Clinton; son, Gale Brown and two sisters, Mary Livingston
and Roberta Dietz and three brothers, Ronnie, Gary and Dale Stack.
She is survived by three sons, Dale Brown and wife Nikki of Lees
Summit, Missouri, Neal Brown of North Kansas City and Mark Brown and
wife Kelly of Orlando, Florida; two brothers, Glenn Stack and wife
Gloria and Donnie Stack and wife Ruth Ann both of Sullivan, Missouri;
eight grandchildren, Tim, Jeoff, Eric, Michael, Desiree, Mandiee,
Ryan Brown and Jodie Behler; seven great grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the
chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 11 a.m.
at the New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan, Missouri with
burial at Licklider Cemetery near Cuba, Missouri.

Lindell “Lin” Earl Clonts
Lindell “Lin” Earl Clonts of St. James, Missouri was born
July 14, 1927 in Shirley, Missouri to Walter Bascom Clonts and his
wife Jessie Maude Harmon Clonts and passed away Saturday,
June 22, 2013 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85 years.
On April 9, 1950 in Rosati, Missouri, he was united in marriage to
Christine Piazza and to this union three children were born.
Christine preceded him in death in 2012.
Lin grew up in Steelville and graduated from Steelville High School.
He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
During the early 1950’s, he worked in the Bahamas building airstrips.
After marriage and living in Steelville for a short time, he took
his wife and family to St. Louis where their children were raised.
He worked in concrete construction, helping to build the Arch and
the second St. Louis Cardinal stadium. He was a member of the
Laborers Union Local #42.
He was raised in the Presbyterian Church and attended Catholic Mass
with Margo, his daughter, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Rosati.
Lin never met a stranger and always loved to tell stories. He always
enjoyed entertaining and cooking while visiting and telling many
jokes. He was always adamant about keeping his kids on the straight
and narrow path or keeping his “chicks in a row.” He also enjoyed
tinkering in the garage and was always ready for a garage sale.
He is survived by his two sons, Grayling Miles Clonts and wife Kathy
of Mt. Home, Arkansas and Lance Lendo Clonts and wife Melissa of T
roy, Missouri; one daughter, Margo Lynn Clonts of St. James,
Missouri; one brother, Emery Clonts and wife Marlene of Steelville,
Missouri; one brother in-law, Lawrence Piazza and wife Mary Ann of
Cuba, Missouri; and one sister in-law, Lillian Clonts of Phoenix,
Arizona; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Christine Clonts;
seven brothers, Edwin Buck Clonts and wife Susie, Lester Clonts,
Darrell Clonts and wife Donna, Paul, Estel, Glenn and Raymond Clonts;
and one sister, Eilene Cape and husband Gerald.
Visitation was from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Memorial services were held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013
at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Father Charles Pardee
officiating. Special memories were shared by his two children.
Committal prayer and inurnment were in the Hibler Cemetery,
Steelville, Missouri with full military honors given by the U.S.
Army and St. James VFW.

Edith Rosella Hardin Dunn
Edith Rosella Hardin Dunn, nee Dicus, of Steelville, Missouri was
born in Keysville, Missouri on March 3, 1927 to Calvin and Etta
Cassidy Dicus and passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at the age
of 86 years, 3 months and 22 days.
On July 20, 1949, Edith was married to Carl William Hardin. Carl
preceded her in death in 1973. In June of 1974, she married Arnold
Dunn who also preceded her in death in 2008.
Edith attended Coffee Community Church. She enjoyed collecting
dolls, roosters and angels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Etta Dicus;
husbands, Carl Hardin and Arnold Dunn; sons, Eugene Dicus and wife
Geraldine, Danny Hardin, Dewayne Hardin and Donald Hardin; three
great grandsons, Richard Lee White Jr., Jordan Andrew White and
Justin McClane: stepson, Clifford Hardin; son-in-law,
Earl Hanks, Jr.; four brothers, Fred Dicus and wife Hazel, Sam
Dicus, Waymond Dicus and wife Della and Tom Dicus; three sisters,
Mildred Ransom and husband Virgil, Ruth Harmon and Erma Dicus;
brother-in-law, Con Young.
She is survived by three sons, Joe Hardin and wife Barbara of

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013
at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home with Rev. Iven Montgomery
officiating and Nathan Montgomery reading the obituary. Special
music of “In the Garden,” “My Brand New Home” and “Going Home” was
sung by Mariah and Destiny Montgomery accompanied on guitar by
Nathan Montgomery. Other music played was “See You Again.”
Committal prayer and interment were in the Steelville Cemetery.
Casket bearers were D. J. Hanks, Joe Hardin Jr., Richard White, Jason
Davis, Allen Brown, Kevin Wisdom and Eugene Dicus. Honorary casket

Irl Robert Fritz
Irl Robert Fritz of Leasburg, Missouri was born on Friday,
January 26, 1962 in St. Louis, Missouri to Walter Matthew and Mary
Helen Hedger Fritz and passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at the
age of 51 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Irl started building when he was 15 years of age. He ran his own
carpentry business for 35 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding
his Harley motorcycle, spending time with his family and loved his
daughters and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Fritz; sister, June
Bindschusz and brother-in-law, Harrison Daniels.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Fritz of Leasburg, Missouri; mother,

Courtney Ray Harris
Courtney Ray Harris of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday,
September 13, 1922 at Cook Station, Missouri to Daniel W. and Dollie
(nee Earls) Harris and passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Cuba,
Missouri at the age of 90 years.
Courtney married Evelyn E. Tesreau at St. Louis, Missouri on
June 26, 1943 and to this union three children were born.
Courtney spent 25 years as a truck driver and retired in 1975 from
Arkansas Best Motor Freight. After retirement he became a farmer for
the next 14 years before moving in to town. He attended the First
Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri and was a 52-year member of the
Cuba Masonic Lodge #312. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his
younger years and gardening and puzzles in his later years.
“Governor” as he was called by some of his friends always enjoyed
visiting with everyone he ever met. He was known for his story
telling and ability to make everyone laugh and smile.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Dollie Harris;
one granddaughter Lana Wagner; one granddaughter-in-law, Annie Harris;
one grandson, Lonnie Shane Harris; one brother, Albert Harris, one
sister Imogene Gregory.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn; one son, John and
wife Barbara Harris of Belle, Missouri; two daughters, Sharon and
husband Rusty Draper of Cuba, Missouri and Sandy and husband Michael
Morice of Cuba, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Lonnie and wife
Michelle Wagner, Cory Harris, Carl Harris, Kindra Dunning, Keith and

Charles Herman Hewkin of Davisville, Missouri was born
March 30, 1929 in Davisville, Missouri to Clifford John and Opal Leah
Martin Hewkin and passed away Sunday, June 23, 2013 at the age of
84 years, 2 months and 24 days.
Herman was united in marriage to Violet Opal Harris on May 28, 1949
in Piggot, Arkansas and to this union four children were born.Herman
worked for Chrysler in St. Louis, Missouri and retired in 1991. He
spent much of his life farming, making fences and raising cattle.
He was a member of Midland Assembly Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Opal Hewkin;
his wife, Violet in 2003; one brother, Johnny Eugene Hewkin; brothers
-in-law, Henry Bonner, Vencil Cottrell, William Bernard Harris, Gilbert
Davis and Jim Martin; and sister in-law, Mildred Turnbough and husband
Cletis.
He is survived by one son, Richard Hewkin and wife Sharon of Cuba,

John Adam King
John Adam King of St. James, Missouri was born on December 6, 1961
in Rolla, Missouri to Wilbur Dean and Mary (Mihlfeld) King and passed
away Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his home in St. James, Missouri at the
age of 51 years, 6 months and 20 days.
John worked for the family business the King Modernization for several
years. He also was a carpenter and did home repair. John loved anything
outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening. He was a talented
person and spent many hours drawing. He enjoyed photography and had
taken many pictures. John was an outgoing person and was well known
in his neighborhood. John was a member of the First Baptist Church.
John was first united in marriage to Priscilla Doyle and to this
union Christina was born. John then married Cathy Meese and to this
union Adam was born.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Dean King; wife, Cathy
(Meese) King and one brother-in-law, Bob Cummins.
He is survived by his mother, Mary (Mihlfeld) King of St. James,
Missouri; one son, John Adam King Jr. of St. James, Missouri; one
daughter, Christina Harding and husband Larry of Cuba, Missouri; one
special granddaughter, Kyra; one brother, Roy King and wife Sherrie
of St. James, Missouri; two sisters, Geneva Cummins of Nevada,
Missouri and Angela Eshenroder and husband Jim of Camdenton, Missouri;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Jones
Funeral Home in St, James, Missouri.

Sylvia E. Milk
Sylvia E. Milk of St. James, Missouri was born February 13, 1917, at
Meta, Missouri to Rev. Menzo and Georgia Brooks (Burnett) Sooter and
passed away Saturday June 29, 2013 at the age of 96 year,s 4 months
and 16 days.
Sylvia married Marvin E. Milk.
Sylvia was called to the Lord’s work in 1945 when the Lord spoke to
her She was filled with God’s Spirit, and she was healed from cancer.
Sylvia was very happy to start her work in the Assembly of God
Church at Kankakee, IL. She was a Sunday school teacher and children
church leader along with her husband, who did janitor work. Sylvia
was active in the Joliet prison ministry where she worked monthly.
She also went to the hospital in Kankakee, Illinois, where she prayed
for the sick.
In 1950, Sylvia started a work in Bourbonnas Illinois, where she
ministered to her neighbors. Sylvia’s ministry grew. She rented a
building, and later she and her husband decided to buy a church
building to meet in. They named the building Pentecost Faith Church.
They were licensed with Internal Gospel Assembly of God of Desoto, Mo.
In 1969 Mr. and Mrs. Milk were ordained.
Sylvia was called to prison to give a man last rights before he was
put to death in the electric chair. Sylvia was greatly touch by this
and continued her work in the prison.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Menzo and Georgia
Sooter; husband, Marvin in 1995; one son, Paul E. Milk, who passed
away December 18, 1984; brothers, Wil, Edward, Dorsie, Paul Sooter
and Charles Sooter; sisters, Ilene, Mildred, Betty and Billie.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Milk of Ashland, Missouri;
sister, Joyce Steele of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Celeste
Marc of St Charles, Illinois, Paul Milk of Peachtree, Georgia, Jesse
Milk of West Virginia and her daughter; great grandchildren, Morgan
Milk, Mitchell Marc, Mason Milk, Nicholas Marc and Lauran Marc;
sister-in-law, Clara Sooter of St. James, Missouri; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral service was conducted 3 p.m. on Monday July 1, 2013 at the
Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Mick Thrasher officiating.
Pallbearers were family and friends.
Burial was in the St. James Cemetery.

John H. Perrigue of Kimberling City, Missouri, was born
February 16, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri to Ben and Leona (Ogle)
Perrigue and passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the age of 76
years.
John was a retired manager for AT&T who lived in the area for the past
23 years coming from Wichita, Kansas. He did not know a stranger, had
a good sense of humor and loved to play jokes, enjoyed fishing and
loved helping and volunteering.
John served in the US Navy, was a member of the Kimberling City
Masonic Lodge, the Shriners, Scottish Rite and the Kimberling City
United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Leona Perrigue; and
one brother, Jerry Perrigue.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Perrigue of Kimberling City,
Missouri; one son, John C. Perrigue and wife Christine of Ambler,
Pennyslvania; three daughters, Lisa Philipps and husband David of
Lake Ozark, Missouri, Laurie Perrigue and husband Larry Forbes of
Clinton, Missouri and Linda Perrigue-Branson and husband Jerry of
Fenton, Missouri; one sister, Dodie Frazier of Mehlville, Missouri,
six grandchildren, Carrie Perrigue, Ashley Grippo and husband Joey,
Michael Philipps, Justin Branson, Lindsey Branson and Jordan Perrigue;

the Kimberling City United Methodist Church, Kimberling City,
Missouri with Reverend Clif Crockett officiating. A Masonic service
was held at 10:30 a.m. before the service.
Cremation was under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home-South,
Kimberling City, Missouri.
James Daniel “Danny” Whitman Sr.
James Daniel “Danny” Whitman, Sr. of Cuba, Missouri formerly of
Steelville, Missouri, was born Friday, November 29, 1940 at Weona,
Arkansas to Whitman and passed away on Friday, June 28, 2013 at Cuba,
Missouri at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 29 days.
Danny was united in marriage to Dorothy Cook on April 9, 1961 at
Ferguson, Missouri and to this union seven children were born.
Danny worked for many years as a truck driver, retiring in 1984
from Cassens Transport in St. Louis, Missouri. He enjoyed country
music, watching NASCAR races and he would drink coffee all day long.
In his younger years he did small engine repairs, raced stock cars in
Valley Park, rode motorcycles and would spend hours tinkering on
things. He enjoyed ice cream with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Dessie Whitman;
his wife of 42 years, Dorothy Whitman; two brothers, Art and Lonnie
Whitman; one sister, Dora Carol; two grandsons, Justin Switzer and
Cody Whitman.
He is survived by his sons, James “Sammy” Whitman, Jr., of Steelville,
Missouri and Tim and wife Debbie Whitman of Greenfield, Indiana;
daughters, Teresa and husband James Switzer of Cuba, Missouri, Lisa
Cunningham of Cuba, Missouri, Melissa and husband Scott Blunt of

Visitation was held Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at the Mizell
Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2013 at the Mizell
Funeral Home with Rev Gene Rauls officiating. Special music will be
“Amazing Grace” by Jamie Shoemaker, “I Will See You Again” and “When
I Get Where I’m Going.”
Interment and prayers were held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday,
July 1, 2013 at the Praise Temple Memorial Gardens in Fredericktown,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Ivy S. Watson
Ivy S. Watson of Salem Missouri was born January 15, 1948 in Pekin,
Illinois to Toler and Ethel (White) Lutz, and passed away
June 20, 2013 in St. James, Missouri at the age of 65 years,
5 months and 5 days.
Ivy was united in marriage to Leonard Watson and to this union three
sons were born.
She had her own quilting business out of her house. She enjoyed
crocheting, cooking, camping, and swimming. Family gathering were
very important to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Toler and Ethel Lutz; her
husband, Leonard Watson; son, Casey Watson; brother, Norman Gene
Lutz; sisters, Vera Mae Shults and Margie Hayes; and one infant
brother.
She is survived by her children, Steve Watson and wife Benita of
Salem, Missouri and Chris Watson and wife Misty of St. James,
Missouri; brothers, Dale Lutz of Vermont, Illinois, Charles Lutz of
Industry, Illinois and Donald Lutz and wife Rosie of Vermont,
Illinois; sisters, Beatrice Landrith and husband James of Pekin,
Illinois and Eleanor Williammee of Rushville, Illinois; grand-
children, Drew Hale and Derek Hale; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 2-4 p.m. at the Salem Chapel of the
James & Gahr Mortuary.
Funeral service was held at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 at the
Salem Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Ken Fiebelman
officiating.
Interment was in the Empire Cemetery in Gladden, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in
Salem, Missouri.
