MO Local Obituaries for the Week of July 3, 2018 Vicky Renee Allen Vicky Renee Allen of Sullivan, Missouri was born on November 10, 1958 in Washington, Missouri to Jerry Edward McMillen and Verna Louise Helton and passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the age of 59 years. Vicky attended and graduated from Sullivan High School, Class of 1977. She lived on the east coast for 20 years before returning to Sullivan, Missouri. Vicky was employed by Wallis Oil at Bourbon, Missouri On the Run, as the Food Service Manager. She was a fun and loving person who enjoyed being outdoors, going for evening rides, listening to music and dancing. Vicky did everything with grace and dignity. She also treated others with that same love and kindness. Vicky was a member of Saint Anthony Catholic Parish. Shewas preceded in death by her parents, Jerry McMillen and Verna (Helton) Fruewirth. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Allen of Sullivan, Missouri and stepson, Jason Allen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one daughter, Lindsay Allen of Sullivan, Missouri; two grandchildren, Tanner and Leah Allen; two brothers, Jerry McMillen and wife Donna of St. Charles, Missouri and Eric Fruewirth and wife Amanda of Sullivan, Missouri; two sisters, Angie Light and husband Curtis of Sullivan, Missouri and Kelly Woodcock and husband Mark of Stanton, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Cape of Cuba, Missouri was born Friday, May 24, 1935 at Borger, Texas to William Silas and Clella Greenwood Hewkin and passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Darlene married James W. "Jim" Cape on February 24, 1953 at Steelville, Missouri. Darlene was part owner/operator of Jim's Motors, where she was the bookkeeper and office manager. She had a lifetime of music contributions to Cuba, Steelville, Crawford County and many surrounding areas. Darlene played the piano for many churches, especially the Assembly of God Church of Steelville and Trinity Chapel of Cuba. She provided music for many community activities, Crawford County Fair Queen contest and other community shows. Darlene volunteered four years of her talent to help with the Crawford County R-II School concert choir. She provided music and helped coordinate the children's community shows "Land of Oz" and "Grand Little Ole Opry". Darlene produced and provided the music for the Cuba Murals fundraiser. Darlene played the piano five years for the International Gideon Conventions in New Orleans, Kansas City, Ohio, Indiana and St. Louis. "I don't care who writes your laws, I care who writes your music because music does more to get to the hearts of man." Darlene's words. Darlene gave piano and singing lessons, in her home and at Jim's Motors, for many years, to many children and adults. In her spare time, Darlene loved taking care of her plants and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Clella Hewkin; six brothers, Oren 'Buster," Homer, James "Jimmy." Don "Donnie," Lynn "Lenny," Rodney Wayne Hewkin; two sisters, Eloise Garms and Naomi and husband Walter Boll; grandson, Chris Bell; and sisters-in-law, Vera Hewkin, Carol Hewkin, June Hewkin, Shirley Hewkin, Ruth Hewkin and Leora Hewkin. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jim Cape of the home; three sons, Alan and wife Gail Cape, Randy Cape and Scott and wife Genifer Cape, all of Cuba, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Jeremy and wife Melissa King of Eureka, Missouri, Lendsay Cape of Denver, Colorado, Courtney and husband Jason Meyer of Ferguson, Missouri, Casey and husband Nick Guzman of Denver, Colorado, Miranda and husband William Mills of Edgewater, Florida, Mallory Young and Cylas "Cy" Cape, both of Cuba, Missouri; 12 great grandchildren, Audrey, Chase, Ava, Emilia, Gavin, Mirabelle, Devin, Donovan, Kaetlyn, Cole, Mason and Luciana; one sister, Colleen and husband Glen Woolbright of Manchester, Missouri; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hewkin of Cuba, Missouri; brothers-in-law, Jerry and wife Lonnie Cape of Cuba and Jay Garms of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Loyd Miller Cross Loyd Miller Cross, of Vichy, Missouri was born in Iberia, Missouri on August 16, 1929 to Frank and Clara (Ponder) Cross and passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the age of 88 years. On June 19, 1977 he married Edna (Noeth) Cross. He was baptized in the Baptist Faith. He was an avid Cardinal Baseball fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara Cross; one daughter, Laura Bennett; and two sisters, Lillie Bunch and Lela Bowlin. Mildred Lorene Tillie Gahr Mildred Lorene Tillie Gahr of Rolla, Missouri was born on February 28, 1931 to Walter Temple and Mamie Bullock Cowan in St. James, Missouri and passed away on June 21, 2018 at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 24 days. She enjoyed hearing about her family and friends' latest happenings. She was a joy to visit with as she shared about her growing up years in St. James, Missouri. She dearly loved her friends and looked forward to their monthly card games. Tillie was employed by several business through the years: Boys Town of Missouri, James Foundation, James Memorial Library, Boatmen's Bank for over 20 years and Bank of America. She also received her cosmetology license and she worked for Murel Frey and operated her own beauty shop for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Temple and Mamie Bullock Cowan; first husband, Cottie Jim Ed Wilson on July 7, 2004; son-in-law, Michael Tonelis; brothers, Alvin Ray Cowan, Wilbur Teddy Cowan, Freeman Conrad Cowan, William Lee Cowan, Lyle Weldon Cowan and an infant brother; and sisters, Elva Gertrude Glenn, Thelma Jessamine Olney and Mamie Marie Mash. Jayne was a devout Christian and lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. She graciously offered her time and talents to many volunteer groups. She was a graduate of Fontbonne University who worked for several years in the medical field. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Marcee. She is survived by her daughter, Marcy Gilpin; sister-in-law, Kathy Marcee; nieces and nephews, David Jr. (Dana) Marcee, Scott (Jaimee) Marcee and Chris (Michele) Marcee; other relatives and friends. William Thomas Sheely William Thomas Sheely, born to George and Wanda Sheely in the spring of 1963 and passed away at the age of 54 years. Tom's unique perspective on life led him to make observations that were insightful, irreverent and hilarious. He lived and worked in Boston, Massachusetts for most of his adult life and told funny stories about life in his inner city neighborhood. He befriended the street people in the area and even adopted a personal style that he referred to as "homeless chic." For several years, Tom wrote the Sheely Newsletter. Most issues concluded with the motto, "It's good to be a Sheely!" Tom was a renaissance man who could do nearly anything he set his mind to. He trained for and ran several marathons, completed countless do-it-yourself home improvement projects and oversaw maintenance and finances for his condominium association, not to mention mediating disputes between neighbors in his condominium building. After graduating from Steelville High, Tom joined the U.S. Navy and traveled to numerous international locations. He later settled in Boston, Massachusetts and built a career in the health care industry. He was preceded in death by his father, George William Sheely in May 2017; his mother, Wanda Lee Blue in September 2015. He is survived by his siblings, Tim and Karen Sheely of Middletown, Rhode Island, Debby Sheely and Mike O'Neill of Coventry, Connecticut and Becky and Charles Heath of Ogden, Kansas; his beloved dog, Joey; nieces, Mary and Deanna; nephews, Brett, Josh, Barry, Brian, Luke and Eddie; great nieces, Lilith and Isibel; reat nephew, Cohen; aunts, Nina, Norma, Linda and Jean; cousins Don, Joe, Teona, Katie, Kelly, Dan and Adam; other relatives and friends. Richard Louis Woolsey Richard Louis Woolsey of St. James, Missouri was born November 22, 1937 in Holts Summit, Missouri to Louis Frank and Lois Herbert Davis Woolsey and passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the age of 80 years. He first married Shirley Ann James August 22, 1956 at St. James, Missouri. He married Marilyn Sue Moreau Linke on May 7, 2006 at Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Richard started school in a one room school house at Oak Forest later attending Red Bird and Bland, Missouri. He graduated in 1954 from John F. Hodge High School. In 1956 he attended School of Mines and enrolled in surveying and engineering classes. He worked part time while attending school for the Burch Company, a wholesale grocery, located in the old Cardetti Building. After completing classes, he worked for the Missouri Highway Department in Jeffferson City, Missouri. When Richard was 21, he became a police officer with the Rolla Police Department for a short while. In 1959 he moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he spent many years in the law enforcement field. Returning to St. James, Missouri in 1980, he hired on with the St. James Police Department as a lieutenant; he was promoted to Chief of Police in 1982. He continued as Chief of Police until his retirement in 1996. In his retirement life, he enjoyed being at home watching the Cardinals baseball team and playing cards. He was a skillful card player. In later years, he collected clocks and enjoyed traveling with Marilyn. He was preceded in death by one son, Vince Richard Woolsey on May 6, 2006; one sister, Betty Lou Brasure in 2011; and brothers-in-law, Don Petty and Jim Hornkohl. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Sue Woolsey of St. James, Missouri; son, Ryan Moreau Linke and wife Rachel of Dry Ridge, Kentucky; daughters, Rhonda Gaye Woolsey of St. James, Missouri, Susanne Kaye Woolsey of Rolla, Missouri, Lana Renee Woolsey of Springfield, Missouri, Tamara Lynn Story and husband Terrill of St. James, Missouri and Cynthia Gail Linke of Springfield, Missouri; sisters, Nina Petty of St. James, Missouri and Jeri Hornkohl of Tullahoma, Tennessee; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
