Daniel Elexander Gillam
Daniel Elexander Gillam was born Thursday, July 15, 1954, at St. Louis,
Mo., a son of Shirley Ann (York) Gillam and the late Loman Elexander
Gillam.
He departed this life at his home on Arlie Barr Road, Viburnum, Mo., June
21, 2002, at the age of 47 years, 11 months and 6 days.
On June 30, 1973, Danny was united in marriage to Joanie Faulkner. Two
daughters, Beth and Ava, were born to this union.
In addition to his father, Danny was preceded in death by a brother-in-law,
Raymond Siebels.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Joanie of
the home; two daughters, Beth and her husband Felix Spittler of Hudson,
Ohio, Ava and her husband Matt Eye of Cuba, Mo.; his mother, Shirley Gillam
of Steelville, Mo.; two sisters, Diane Siebels of Pacific, Mo.; Mary and
her husband Jim Farnsworth of Steelville, Mo.; six grandchildren, Ashley
and Hunter Spittler of Hudson, Ohio, Nikki, Dyllan, Hayley and Colby Eye of
Cuba, Mo.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Daniel E. Gillam lay in state 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at the
Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 2 p.m.
Wednesday, June 26, 2002 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Dave Hopkins
officiating. Pianist Sharon Hedrick and vocalist Stanley Chandler and
Leslie Homer provided music.
Committal prayers and interment were in Czar Cemetery, Viburnum, Mo.
Serving as pallbearers were Felix Spittler, Matt Eye, Luke Turnbough, Danny
Bobbitt, Jeff Bobbitt, Randy Faulkner, Jim Farnsworth, John Moore, Dyllan
Eye and Colby Eye
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Claudia D. Paul
Claudia D. Paul of Sullivan, Missouri passed away at Missouri Baptist
Hospital on Sunday, June 23, 2002 at the age of 56 years.
Mrs. Paul was born on November 2, 1945 at Hannibal, Missouri to Phillip and
Beatrice (Lewis) Collins. She had lived the majority of her life in the St.
Clair area and was a graduate of St. Clair High School. She was employed
for a time at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Washington as a Prep Nurse. She
later took a position with Gilliam Real Estate as a realtor.
Mrs. Paul was known as a very loving and caring person and would help
anyone in need. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping and boating
on lakes and rivers. Mrs. Paul was a member of the Fraternal Order of
Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. On June 21, 1985 she was united in marriage to
Cleo Patrick Paul at Bourbon, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick; three sons, Keith Ash of Stanton,
Missouri, Patrick Paul, Jr. of Sullivan and Eric Gaertner of the state of
Kentucky; four daughters, Fay Wood of Bourbon, Missouri, Amy Calva of the
state of New York, Anna Cook and Paula Lamb both of St. Louis, Missouri;
two brothers, Donald Collins of Little Rock, Arkansas and Philip Collins,
Jr. of DeSoto, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Along with her parents, an infant sister, Phyllis Jean Collins preceded
Mrs. Paul in death.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 from
the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Charles
Idelman officiating. Interment was in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.
Virginia Maxine Reisinger
Virginia Maxine Reisinger nee Decker was born Sunday, June 27, 1915, a
daughter of the late Robert James Decker and Bertha (Sackett) Decker. She
entered eternal rest Thursday, June 20, 2002, at the Phelps County Regional
Medical Center, Rolla, Mo. at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 23 days.
On September 3, 1938, at St. Louis, Mo., Virginia was united in marriage to
Emil Joseph Reisinger. They enjoyed over 59 years together, before his
death October 6, 1997.
In addition to her parents and Emil, two brothers, Richard Decker and
Robert Decker, and one niece Barbara Wagganer, preceded her in death.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her sister-in-law, Virginia
Decker of Lafayette, Indiana; two nephews, Bob Decker of Texas and Richard
Decker of Illinois; one niece, Debbie Decker of St. Louis, Mo.;
nephew-in-law, Jim Wagganer of Texas; great nephews and great-nieces, David
and Elizabeth Wagganer, and Brad Wagganer of Texas; Tressia and Mary Ellen
Decker, of Florida and Maryland; great-great-nephew Grant Wagganer of
Texas, other relatives and friends.
Virginia graduated from Central High School, St. Louis, Mo. in 1933 and
Nursing School in 1936 as a Registered Nurse. She worked her way up to
Assistant Director of Nursing at Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo. She came
to Steelville, Mo. and was instrumental in establishing Golden Echoes. She
was known for her voluntarism at Golden Echoes and Gibbs Care Center. She
helped to establish the meals on wheels program in Steelville and was a
member of advisory Board of Peoples Bank.
Virginia Reisinger lay in state 5-8 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002, at the
Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, June 24, 2002 in the Britton
Chapel, with Rev. John Frazier officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery. Serving as
pallbearers were Robert Decker, Richard Decker, Jim Wagganer, David
Wagganer, Bob Stewart and Joe Midyett.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Alma F. Wiese
Alma F. Wiese of Sullivan, Missouri, wife of the late Artemas E. Wiese and
daughter of the late James L. and Nancy Ann (Bell) Cuneio, passed away on
Sunday, June 23, 2002 at the age of 88 years.
Alma was born on July 21, 1913 at the family home in Tea, Missouri, and
remained a lifelong resident of the Sullivan area. On December 28, 1928 she
was joined in marriage to Artemas E. Wiese at Owensville, Missouri and to
their union two children were born.
In addition to serving her family as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother,
and homemaker. Alma worked a number of years for the Brown Shoe Company,
and later as a staff member of the Hassebroek Funeral Home.
As a very young girl, she made her profession of faith in Christ and was a
long-time member of the First Assembly of God in Sullivan.
Alma enjoyed and was extremely dedicated to sharing the Gospel and
encouraging other people whenever possible. She also found pleasure in
cooking, sewing, reading the Bible, and being with her family. She will be
rememberd and cherished as a very loving, caring, and generous woman.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Christina Kade and husband Peter, and
Michael Bouse and wife Karen, all of Sullivan; one step-granddaughter,
Linda (Bouse) Gearheart of the state of Indiana; one great-grandson, Justin
Bouse of Bourbon, Missouri; two step-great-grandsons, Ryan and Matthew
Gearheart of the state of Indiana; nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wiese was preceded in death by
her two children, James Frederick Wiese and Mary Frances Bouse, one
grandson in infancy, John Edmond Bouse, her son-in-law, Dwayne Bouse, four
brothers, Emery, Marvin, Alva and Russell Cuneio, and one sister, Mazie
Webb.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2002 from
the Chapel of Hassebroek Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Gary Oglesby
officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. Visitation
was from 5 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at the Hassebroek
Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Rev. W. Carl Wright
Rev. W. Carl Wright was born July 9, 1919 at Bonne Terre, Mo., and passed
away Friday, June 21 at the age of 82 years, at Parkland Health Center,
Bonne Terre.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Mary Ann (Gibson)
Wright, his first wife, Juanita (Wolk) Wright, one son, Phillip Samuel
Wright, one brother, Thomas C. Wright and two sisters, Pauline Joy and
Edith Hamby.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Wolk) Wright, Bonne Terre, his
children, Sharon Wright, Cooksville, Tennessee, Rebecca Wright, Marquand,
Rev. Bill (Kathryn) Wright, Fredericktown.
Step-children, David (Patricia) Linhorst, Festus, Linda (Edward) Wehmeyer,
Bloomsdale, Alan Lindhorst, Lancaster, California, Trina (John) Hobbie, New
Jersey.
One brother, George (Helen) Wright, Farmington; two sisters, Marraine
Jackson, Pevely, Bertha (Karl) Lodholz, Bonne Terre; 13 grandchildren,
three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Sunday, June 9, 2002 at 1 p.m. at C. Z. Boyer and Son
Funeral Home in Bonne Terre. The funeral service was at 10 a.m. Monday,
June 10 at First Baptist Church in Bonne Terre.
The service was conducted by Rev. Ron Poole, Rev. Darrell Jauch and Rev.
Alan Berry. Interment was in White Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery,
Potosi, Mo.
Mr. Wright, a Baptist Minster, was well known in this area.
