MO Local Obituaries for the Week of July 5, 2017 Virginia Agnes Ballard Virginia Agnes Ballard of Rolla, Missouri was born in Rolla on May 29, 1929 to Horace and Jesse (Walls) Miers and passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the age of 88 years. On April 12, 1947 she married Lee Ballard. Prior to retirement, Virginia worked as a cafeteria supervisor for the Rolla Middle School. Among her many interests were flower gardening and sharing her Christian faith. She attended Lifeline Baptist Church until her declining health prevented her from attending. She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Jesse Miers; husband, Lee Ballard on June 16, 2004; step-father, Louis Laney; a sister, Velma Brandt; and brothers, Jimmy Miers and Earl Laney. She is survived by her son, Robert (Sonya) Ballard of Rolla, Missouri; two brothers, Robert (Paula) Laney and Bill (Connie) Laney, both of St. James, Missouri; one sister, Sue (Eddie) Malone of Rolla, Missouri; two grandchildren, Ashley Ballard and Ryan Mohr; two great grandchildren, Miles and Samother relatives and friends. Carol Sue Bell Carol Sue Bell of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of Cherryville, Missouri was born to Ernest J. and Mabel (Murray) Bell on Thursday, September 29, 1949 in Cherryville, Missouri and passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 30 days. Carol enjoyed cooking, growing flowers outdoors, reading, board games and crafts. She made stuffed animals and occasionally quilts. She was a classic film buff and especially enjoyed black and white movies from the "Golden Era". Before her illness, she served for many years as a loan officer for the Federal Housing Administration. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mabel Bell; sister, Bonnie Bowman; and brothers, Stephen Bell and Bill Bell. She is survived by her son, David S. Beatrice "Bea" Colleen Gregory Beatrice "Bea" Colleen Gregory (nee Vincent) of Manchester, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born on March 20, 1921 in Anna, Illinois to Vernon Edgar Vincen and Maude Elizabeth Brown Vincent and passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 9 days. After graduating from high school, Bea moved to Oceanside, California to live with her aunt and uncle. She went to work in a factory that contributed to the war effort. She met Carroll Gregory and they married on May 24, 1947 Mapl ewood Congregational Church, St. Louis, Missouri and to this union three daughters were born. Bea worked first in the office of the Brown Shoe Industry, then later at PN Hirsch Company. Bea was a homemaker and was a very good cook. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, quilting, chain stitching, embroidering, working jigsaw puzzles and word search. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Maude Vincent; husband, Carroll Gregory; sister, Lorene (Robert) Modglin; brother, Donald (Ruth) Vincent; brothers-in-law, Joe Miles, Albert Gregory and Raymond (Rita) Gregory; sisters-in-law, Lee (Bill) Dortch and Olive (Harry) Bright. Kenneth Lee Joy Kenneth Lee Joy of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of Wayne County, Missouri, was born January 8, 1941 in Wayne County, Missouri and passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, at his residence at the age of 76 years. On July 17, 1957, Kenneth married Melba Allen. Kenneth was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Leasburg, Missouri. He had worked for Durbin Durco, a hand tool farm equipment company, for many years in maintenance and later he was plant manager. After leaving Durbin Durco, Kenneth along with a dear friend started S&J Metal Manufacturing Company in which he worked until he became ill. In spare time Kenneth enjoyed hunting and fishing, BBQ'ing and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Twidwell; and one sister, JoAnn Libla.
