John Russell Bullock
John Russell Bullock passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the
University Hospital in Columbia Missouri at the age of 79.
John was born on June 7, 1925 to William and Dosia (Dawson) Bullock in St.
James, Missouri.
Johnie Bullock will be missed by his surviving family, children Russell
and wife Tina Bullock of St. James, Richard (Rick) Bullock of St. James,
and Terry Bullock of St. James, and their mother Bea Amptmann;
stepchildren Mike and wife Linda Hanes of Michigan, and Larry Hanes of
Illinois.
John is also survived by four sisters, Sylvia Bell of St. James, Mary Ann
(Mickey) Bullock of St. James, Theodosia (Teddy) Meurer of St. James, and
Shirley Prewett of Bridgeton, Missouri.
John had many nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren, nine great
grandchildren.
Johnie served in the United States Armed Forces for many years and he also
enjoyed many activities such as gardening, collecting Indian artifacts and
fishing.
Visitation for family and friends was held Friday, July 2, 2004 from 6-8
p.m. at the James and Gahr Chapel in St. James.
Services for John Bullock were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2004 in
the James and Gahr Chapel with Rev. Jerry Baumann officiating.
Pallbearers were Chris Bullock, Travis Bullock, Travis Holt, Jason Hanes,
Shannon Gibson and Josh Susie. Honorary pallbearers were Demetrius Pulley,
Bernard Underwood, Jim Matlock and Robert Magnin.
Interment was in the St. James Cemetery with full military honors at
graveside.
Dustin W. Callahan
Dustin Wayne Callahan of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, April 24, 1992
in Rolla, Missouri to Michael D. Callahan and Tammy K. Dobkins Callahan.
He passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the age of 12 years, 2 months
and 5 days.
Dustin completed the fifth grade at Cuba Middle School where he enjoyed
being with his friends and playing soccer. He liked to go fishing and
swimming, but most of all ride his motorcycle. Dustin will be deeply and
sadly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his older brother Paden Lawrence Callahan.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his parents Michael and Tammy
Callahan of Cuba, Missouri; brother Cody Michael Callahan and sister
Dakota Ann Callahan of the home; grandparents Skip and Rita Dobkins of
Steelville, Missouri, Dave and Bonnie Callahan of Cuba, Missouri; great
grandmother Helen Vyera of Laramie, Wyoming.
Aunts and uncles Lonnie and Tina Dickens, and Donna Davenport, all of
Cuba, Missouri, Stan Prince and friend Judy, and Jerry and Joy Schneider,
all of Sullivan, Missouri, Stacie Chandler, Rocky Dobkins and friend Jen,
and Stoney Dobkins, all of Steelville, Missouri; cousins, and many
friends.
Visitation was held Thursday, July 1, 2004 from 6-9 p.m. at the Hutson
Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 2, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Hutson
Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Dave Conger officiating.
Interment at Martin Trask Cemetery, Cherryville Missouri with pallbearers
Randy Chew, Jerry Schneider, Lonnie Dickens, Rocky Dobkins, Stoney
Dobkins, Curt Vernon, Eddie Brooks and Shawn Brooks.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home,
Cuba, Missouri.
Dolores Conway
Dolores Conway formerly of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on June 26, 2004
at Desoto, Missouri at the age of 67 years, 4 months and 25 days.
Dolores was born on February 1, 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union
of John Lee Conway and Catherine Duffy Conway.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing from this life her loving son Tim
Sperandio and wife Sandy.
Private funeral services were held. All arrangements were under the
direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Pennock
Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Pennock, born in Bourbon, Missouri May 14, 1907,
passed away on June 25, 2004 in Yuma, Arizona.
He is survived by two daughters, Joy Gage and Faye Braley, both of
Cottonwood, Arizona; by one sister, Marie Wilson of Bourbon; eight
grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; four great, great grandchildren and
by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Jurine Cressey Pennock, the mother
of his children, and Hazel Wigger Pennock; by his son, Ronald Edward and
by one great grandchild, Dustin Bishop Jackson.
Frank spent his early life in the Bourbon area. He left Bourbon for the
first time at the request of his family and took an ailing sister to
Arizona for her health. After her death Frank and his wife and infant son
returned to Missouri. He is believed to be the last survivor of the local
work crew that built the old Bourbon water tower.
Frank and his family lived in the Bourbon area or on Brazil creek until
1941 at which time they returned to Douglas, Arizona. He worked for 31
years as an overhead crane operator in the Phelps Dodge smelter of
Douglas. After retirement he moved to Yuma, Arizona. For the last six
months he was a resident of the Life Care Center nursing home in Yuma.
Frank is remembered for his fiddle playing. He began playing for square
dances at age 14 and continued playing and learning new tunes into his
nineties. He was a member of the Yuma chapter of the Old Time Fiddlers
Association.
He was buried in a private family service in Douglas on June 30. A
memorial service will be held at the Valley Baptist Church in Yuma,
Arizona on July 24 at 2 p.m.
Betty Jane Sampson
Betty Jane Sampson nee Combs of Sullivan, Missouri was born on Saturday,
July 21, 1962 in Sullivan, Missouri to Wiley James Combs, Sr. and Anna
Jane Riggs Combs. She passed away at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis,
Missouri on Thursday, July 1, 2004 at the age of 41 years, 11 months and
11 days.
Betty was married to Gary Dale Sampson, Sr. in Pastor Wolfe's home in
Sullivan, Missouri on October 26, 1985 and to this union one son was born.
Betty lived most of her life in Franklin County and was recently employed
as a cashier at Wal-Mart of Eureka, Missouri. Her hobbies were fishing,
deer hunting, playing pool, swimming, horseback riding, collecting
arrowheads and cactus, painting felt posters, and writing in her journal.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband Gary Dale Sampson,
Sr.; one son Gary Dale Sampson, Jr. all of Sullivan, Missouri; one
step-daughter Tonya Sampson of St. Louis, Missouri; brothers Warren Combs
and wife Donna of Cuba, Missouri, George Combs, Sr. and wife Cindy of
Sullivan, Missouri, Randall Combs, Sr. and wife Mary of Liberty, Missouri,
Wiley Combs, Jr. of Cathedral City, California, David Combs, Sr. of
Leavenworth, Kansas; sisters Wanda Lee Combs of Pacific, Missouri, Patsy
Lou Camden and husband Jim of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Anna Mae Wilhelm and
husband Bob of Utah.
Brothers and sisters-in-law George Sampson and wife Harlene of Salem,
Missouri, Donald Sampson and wife Lydia of Leasburg, Missouri, Joyce Cox
of Bourbon, Missouri, and Daniel Sampson of Houston, Texas; nieces,
nephews, cousins and many friends.
Visitation was held Saturday, July 3, 2004 from 1-2 p.m. at Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Hutson
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Bro. Phillip Hudson officiating.
Interment at Cave Springs Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba,
Missouri.
