Angel Hanners and passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 5 days. On January 27, 1951 in Leachville, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Charles D. Chipman and to this union four sons were born. Mary Lou and Charlie came to the Steelville area in 1957 and purchased an interest in C&C Auto Parts, an auto supply company. Mary Lou was an active member of the Steelville First Baptist Church since 1959, teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was the church treasurer for 14 years. She was also active at the food pantry for several years. She enjoyed reading, counted crossstitch, making quilt tops and gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Hanners; a grandchild; and one brother, Dean Hanners. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles Chipman of Steelville, Missouri; four sons, Mike Chipman and wife Barbara of Forsyth, Missouri, Terry Chipman of Wesco, Missouri, Randy Chipman and wife Judy of Tucson, Arizona and Patrick Chipman and wife Yaxi of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; one sister, Mattie Sue Hanners of Owensville, Missouri; other relatives and friends. David Edgar David Edgar of Cuba, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on Tuesday, July 4, 1944 to Eldon and Delores M. Perry Edgar and passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 27 days. He served his country honorably for six years in the United States Army Reserves. He was united in marriage to Anita Pullam on October 9, 1965 in St. Louis, Missouri and to this union two children were born. He worked at the Ford automobile plant in Hazelwood as a Security Guard for 35 years and was a member of the Local UAW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was a St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Delores Edgar; and mother-in-law, Dorothy Mathews. Annie Laurie Petchulat Annie Laurie Petchulat, nee Slovensky, of Fairview Heights, Illinois was born Friday, June 30, 1922 in Steelville, Missouri and passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 in Swansea, Illinois at the age of 91 years. Annie Laurie was a retired elementary teacher for East St. Louis District 189 and was a member of Sterling Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack L. Quinley; husband, Bob Petchulat; parents, John and Mamie (nee Earney) Slovensky; brother, Walter Slovensky; and sister, Ruth Bailey. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (Bruce) Conley of Millstadt, Illinois; son, John (Mary Ann) Quinley of Swansea, Illinois; five grandchildren, Robert (Shellie) Conley, Michael (Maria) Conley, Ryan (fiancˇe, Cayla Patterson) Quinley, Taylor Quinley, Aaron Quinley; two great granddaughters, Charlotte and Ashlynn Conley; other relatives and friends. Mary Cecelia Sagel Mary Cecelia Sagel of Cuba, Missouri was born Thursday, December 1, 1927 at New York to James and Ida Birmingham and passed away Wednesday July 2, 2014 at the age of 86 years. Mary was united in marriage to Timothy Benjamin Sagel in 1945 at Campbell, Missouri and to this union 11 children were born. Mary retired from Brown Shoe Company in 1992 after 24 years of dedicated service. Mary was a devout member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 65 years. In her spare time of raising eleven children she enjoyed embroidering. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ida Birmingham; husband, Timothy Sagel; three sons, Phillip, Thomas and Bernard Sagel; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Margaret Hoke, Teresa Depauw, Elizabeth Garner, Albert Sagel, Steven Sagel, Paul Sagel, Alice Rodriguez and Edward Sagel; 17 grandchildren; 28 great grand- children; one great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Betty Sandefer Betty Sandefer of Sullivan, Missouri, formerly of St. James, Missouri, was born November 12, 1930 to Harry Newton and Hilda Kalb and passed away Monday, June 23, 2014 at the age of 83 years. Betty was united in marriage to George J. Sandefer on February 24, 1951 and to this union four children were born. Betty loved God, family and life. She loved everything about the outdoors. She loved watching the hummingbirds, going camping with her children and when the grandchildren came along Betty was back in the camping mode setting off to share her love of nature with them. Being raised in a family of nine children, Betty truly appreciated the closeness of her siblings all through her life. She loved to travel with her family and really enjoyed it when the trip involved the beach and great food. She also enjoyed shopping for clothes. Betty was also very artistic and loved to draw, crochet, play the piano and listening to music. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Newton and Hilda Kalb; husband, George in 1976; sisters, Evelyn Hartupee and Lorraine Henry; brothers, Bud, Clarence, Kenny and Bobby Kalb. Joseph "Joe" Richard Simpson Joseph "Joe" Richard Simpson of Bland, Missouri, formerly of Cherryville, Missouri was born August 7, 1947 in Steelville, Missouri to John Thomas and Lillie Arnetti Oxendine Simpson and passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the age of 66 years. Joe was in law enforcement as a police officer for several years in Missouri, Kansas and Texas. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He loved to fish and hunt. Joe also enjoyed shooting guns, carpentry and collecting lottery tickets. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lillie Simpson; sister, Ruby Christenson; and brothers, Dale and Dennis Simpson. He was united in marriage to Francis Louise Martin on October 28, 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri. John served his country in the United States Marines Corps during World War II. He was a Defense Mapping Agent for the Department of Defense for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Margaret Smith; and one son, John Smith.
