Bayless was born October 23, 1937 in St. James, Missouri and passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at the age of 81 years. A former associate dean of engineering at Missouri Science and Technology, he was known "Mr. S&T" and taught civil engineering at the university for 57 years, from 1959-2017. He graduated as valedictorian from Cuba High School in 1955, then studied civil engineering at the Missouri School of Mines (now Missouri S&T), working each summer for the Missouri Highway Department. He was inducted in Chi Epsilon, the civil engineering honor society, in 1957 and into Tau Beta Pi, an engineering honor society, in 1958. He earned a bachelor of science from MSM in 1959 and was hired the day of commencement as an instructor in civil engineering. While working full time as an instructor, he took graduate classes, earning his master's degree in civil engineering in 1962. On December 26, 1959 he married Shirley Louise Hertel. Over the years he taught more than 10,000 students and 21 different civil engineering courses. He served as freshman advisor and transfer advisor and he was involved in student recruiting. He was assistant chair of civil engineering from 1968 to 1985, interim chair of civil engineering in 1986 and 2006, assistant dean of engineering from 1986-1990 and associate dean of engineering from 1990 to 2006. He retired in February 2017 as associate professor emeritus of Civil, Architectural & Environmental Engineering. He was a member of the Society of Sigma Xi and an honor member of Blue Key, Phi Eta Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi. For more than 50 years, he was faculty advisor to Chi Epsilon. He was a chapter honor member and in 2008 he was awarded the Chi Epsilon National Arthur N. L. Chiu Award for Excellence as a Faculty Advisor. In 2017 he received the Harold T. Larson Award from Chi Epsilon, the highest award for service to the society and profession. He also served as link coordinator and a Governor nationally for the Order of the Engineer. He was the advisor to the Missouri S&T Student Council for more than 20 years and was a member and past advisor to the local chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was secretary-treasurer of the S&T chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, secretary and treasurer of the S&T Academy of Civil Engineers, and treasurer of the Miner Alumni Association and the Miner Booster Club. He was a recipient of the Alumni Merit Award from the Miner Alumni Association, an honorary member of M-Club, a member of the Order of the Golden Shillelagh, and an honorary Knight of St. Patrick. In 2004 he received the Chancellor Medal. In 2011 he was named one of Missouri S&T's inaugural class of Alumni of Influence and was awarded the University of Missouri Presidential Citation for Outstanding Alumni Service. He held offices in the Rolla Chapter of the National and Missouri Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers (fellow and life member) and the American Society for Engineering Education. In 1968 he was named Young Engineer of the Year, Rolla Chapter and State, MSPE. In 2017 he was given the Outstanding Link Coordinator Award from the Order of the Engineer. He was a fan of Miner sports. For 30 years he kept score at the men's basketball home games. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a charter member of the Optimist Club of Rolla, where he had 53 years of perfect meeting attendance. He was a past president of the local club and had served as lieutenant governor of the Missouri District of Optimist International. In 1974 he was named Mr. Rolla Optimist for 1964-1974. He was deeply involved with youth sports with the Optimist Club and was especially proud to have initiated and propagated the local Optimist soccer program. He also worked with the Optimist basketball program. He was president of the Rolla Khoury League and Commissioner of the Khoury League of the Ozarks for about 15 years. He was a member of the Rolla Area Chamber of Commerce and a former member and chairman of the Rolla Park Board and the Rolla Board of Adjustment. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Bayless; and younger brother, Mackey Bayless. He is survived by son, David J. Bayless and wife Sally, of Athens, Ohio; daughter, Jennifer L. She was raised in Calumet City and Roselle, Illinois until 1958 when she moved to Sullivan, Missouri with her mother and younger sister, Julie. There she met her husband, Glendal Wayne Eaton and moved to Steelville, Missouri in 1962 after they married. Sharon was a faithful and devoted Catholic attending St. Michael's Catholic Church in Steelville, Missouri. She led and worked alongside the many faithful Catholics to start and keep the PSR program alive and active at St Michael's parish. She taught at Holy Cross Catholic School after retirement from Brown Shoe Company. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree at the age of 57 and started her own business "IFS" (Integrity Financial Services) helping others with financial security. She was an active volunteer as a Girl Scout and 4-H leader. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Leo Trudeau; her sister, Julie Hoff; and her husband, Glen Eaton. Louis Arthur Gloriod Louis Arthur Gloriod, known to all as Lou, of Sullivan, Missouri was born in Washington, Missouri on March 20, 1972 to Louis Edwin and Nancy Ann (nee Hayes) Gloriod and passed away on June 16, 2019 at the age of 47 years, 2 months and 26 days. On August 29, 1998 he married RaDawn Lynn Vaughn. Lou was a Christian, having been raised in the Catholic faith and had most recently attended St. Stephens Catholic Church in Richwoods, Missouri. As a young man, he became a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 513 of Bridgeton, Missouri. For several years he worked from the Union hall operating heavy equipment. About 15 years ago he started his own business, R. L. Grading LLC, which he was still operating. He often did work for McBride Homes. When Lou wasn't at work, he was usually busy working on his farm, clearing ground and baling hay. He loved living in the country and enjoyed feeding the birds and other wildlife. Lou was a great cook and truly loved smoking meats, grilling and baking. He enjoyed trying new recipes and cooking for family and friends. He enjoyed the companionship of his dogs and had a fondness for eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Nancy Gloriod. September of 1985 Mary Ann graduated from Logan University with a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. Mary Ann worked as a chiropractor for many years. On October 12, 1985, one month after graduation, Mary Ann married John Moore in Washington, Missouri. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, being outside in the country air and riding behind John on the motorcycle. She was an avid reader and had an amazing collection of books. She was on a first name basis with the staff of the Steelville library. She was preceded in death by her father, Otto Rasch; brother, Michael Rasch; and brother-in-law, Bob Stephens. "Ricky" Roberts was born on November 3, 1953 in Sullivan, Missouri to Arless Emerson Roberts Sr. and Orpha Marie (King) Roberts and passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the age of 65 years.Richard Lee, known as Ricky, attended and graduated from Sullivan High School, Class of 1972. Ricky took courses in banking and was employed by Mercantile Bank for 25 years. Ricky and his partner, Ted, were blessed with 18 years together. They enjoyed taking drives in the country and antiquing. He cooked for his family and loved using his mom's recipes. Ricky loved decorating for Christmas and having everyone over for a holiday meal. Etta Mae Rogers Etta Mae Rogers of Cuba, Missouri was born Sunday, August 10, 1941 to Jess and Mary Etta (nee Gensler) Bridgeman and passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the age of 77 years. Etta married Herman W. Rogers on December 15, 1962. Herman passed away Wednesday evening, June 26, 2019. Etta retired in 1992 from Paramount after 20 plus years of dedicated service. Etta gave her heart to the Lord at a very young age. She spent years playing the piano and singing for the Lord. In her spare time, she was taking care of her flower and vegetable gardens. Etta was an excellent cook and she enjoyed sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Mary Bridgeman; husband, Rev. Herman W. Herman Will Rogers Sr. was born Tuesday, April 20, 1937 at Sullivan, Missouri to Lee R. and Gustie (nee Almo) Rogers and passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the age of 82 years. Herman proudly served in the United States Army from 19 May 1959 to 22 May 1962. He earned the Marksman Badge Missile, Marksman Badge Carbine and the Good Conduct Medal. Herman married Etta Mae Bridgeman on December 15, 1962. Herman retired for Chrysler in 1996 after 28 years of dedicated service. Herman served the Lord for his entire life and for 55 years he pastored in Cuba, four years in Potosi, then Rolla, St. James, Sullivan, and Newburg, Missouri. Herman continued preaching funerals until 2009. He was a member of the Evangelical Holiness Church of Cuba and the Bible Way. In his spare time, Herman enjoyed fishing, spoiling his cats Tornado and Twister and his dog Tyler. Mary Lucille Sego Mary Lucille Sego of Sullivan, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born Friday, March 16, 1928 at Perryville, Missouri to Edward Frank and Mary Clara (nee Schlatman) Schumer and passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the age of 91 years. Mary Lou or Lucille as she was known by many, started her working career at the young age of 15. She started her apprenticeship working for her sister Loretta at a salon in St. Louis, Missouri. Mary Lou went on to work for many different salons before moving to Cuba, Missouri. After moving to Cuba, she built on home on Iris and Jim's property. She turned her basement into her salon "Night Owl." Mary Lou retired after nearly 70 years of cutting hair. She enjoyed painting, reading, doing crafts and ceramics. She was always working on a project that required her to use her hands and brain. Mary Lou had nearly a thousand books in her collection. After she read a book, she would then give it a one through five stars. Mary Lou's family had a book club. Mary Lou was a devout member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church. Other than church, she never left home, because all her friends came to visit her. Mary Lou was a gracious host and an excellent listener. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Frank and Mary Clara Schumer; husband, Robert L. Thomas James Shelton Thomas James Shelton of Bourbon, Missouri was born on May 6, 1988 to James E. and Susan Irene (Smith) Shelton Jr. and passed away Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the age of 31 years. Thomas James, known as Tommy by his family and friends, attended and graduated from Bourbon High School class of 2006. He was employed as a grill cook for Cracker Barrel for several years and really enjoyed working there. Tommy loved Batman and playing X Box. He was very fond of his pets, Sadie, Rosie and Marley. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Shelton. Alan Wayne Ward Alan Wayne Ward of Cuba, Missouri was born March 10, 1962 in Washington, Missouri to Alfred and Betty (nee Partin) Ward and passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the age of 57 years, 3 months and 17 days. He married Melody Cassidy Alan had attended the Covenant Praise Church. He was a professional wrestler and was a member of the RCW Professional Wrestling Association and WPH (World Power House). He had been inducted into the Midwest Independent Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2016. Alan's professional name was 'Hollywood Stud' and his motto was "You wish it, I live it." Alan enjoyed fishing, camping on the river and hiking. He also loved talking politics and giving his opinions. He also loved watching Blues Hockey and football with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Coleman Ward and Betty Jean Partin Ward. Donald Gale Watson Donald Gale Watson was born June 24, 1938 to Marvin and Stella (Reeves) Watson in Caledonia, Missouri and passed away June 28, 2019 at the age of 81 years. As a young boy Don grew up near Benton Creek and attended school in St. James, Missouri. He accepted the Lord as his Savior in his early 40's at Calvary Temple Church and then followed in baptism in a local river. November 1955 Don entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in November 1958. Don married Irene Treece, on May 4, 1957 in Vienna, Missouri. Together they shared 62 years of marriage. Don worked hard to provide for his family. He had various jobs through the years to include: truck driving, timber work, sawmill work and work in the salvage yards. He eventually retired as a Machinist in Cuba, Missouri. In his spare time, Don enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to work on his farm where he raised cows, chickens and pigs. You could also find him by the waters fishing for crappie and catfish. In his early years, he did enjoy hunting until his wife started trophy hunting and eventually out did him. They made several memories camping at Pomme de Terre Lake and at Land Between the Lakes. Don was also the author of a book called "Rhythm Of The Road". A true story about his life as a young boy. He was 80 years old at the time the book was printed. He is survived by his wife, Irene Watson of the home in St. James, Missouri; children, Debbie Gregory of Pensacola, Florida, Wanda Watson of Navarre, Florida, Brenda Pollard and husband David of Salem, Missouri, Dillard Watson and wife Mandy of Salem, Missouri, Anna Martin and husband Richard of St. James, Missouri, Colleen Watz and husband Derek of Pacific, Missouri; one sister, Minnie Jordan of Salem, Missouri; one brother, Oscar "Bud" Watson of Eldon, Missouri; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; seven great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Ziegler (Harris), 79, of St. Clair, Missouri was born July 27, 1939 to John Urban and Dorothy (York) in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the age of 79 years. Elizabeth was later adopted by Herman Harris and Etta Rodgers in June of 1940. After 15 years of working as a husband and wife team as over the road truck drivers, Elizabeth and her late husband Donald retired. She was a member of the Canaan Land Ministries for 25 years and she enjoyed cooking for the church camp. She loved playing bingo at the senior center and being the bingo caller. Elizabeth wanted it to be known that smoking pot causes C.O.P.D. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ziegler; both sets of parents, John and Dorothy Urban and Herman and Etta Harris; one daughter, Bonnie Carnelison; four sisters, Dorothy, Stella, Thelma and Bernice; two brothers, Arthur and Albert.
