Cora F. Shellman
Cora F. Shellman nee Hinton of Cuba, Mo. passed away at Cuba Manor July 7,
2000. She was born to John R. and Lillie J. Hinton nee Stearman, November
3, 1912 in St. Louis, Mo.
Cora was a cook in St. Louis restaurants before retirement. She was a
member of Overland Baptist Church. Cora is survived by one daughter,
Beverly (James) Branson of St. Charles, Mo., one sister Gladys Johnson of
Orlando, Florida, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Henry Earl James and Gaston
(Red) Shellman, and three daughters Mary Williamson, Erlene Carpenter and
Martha James.
Services were held July 10, 2000 at McLaughlin Funeral Home in St. Louis
and burial was in St. Matthew Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. The services were
officiated by Rev. Louis A. Williamson.
Wayne Leon McIntosh
Wayne Leon McIntosh of Florissant, Mo., was born in St. Louis, Mo. to the
family of Thomas Cleveland and Flossie (Overturf) McIntosh on July 6, 1919,
and departed from us on June 22, 2000 at the Northgate Park Nursing Home,
in Florissant, Mo. having reached the age of 81 years, 11 months and 16
days.
On August 14, 1943 Wayne married Lorraine Prince in St. Louis, Mo.
Wayne was proud of the years he spent serving his country. He was always
ready to tell of his time in the Merchant Marine Corp. the U.S. Navy.
On August 15, 1946 he was given Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army
after serving in the Southern Philippines during W.W. II where he received
awards of membership with M1-Rifle, Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater
Ribbon and one Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze
Star, three Overseas Service Bars, one Service Stripe, Army of Occupation
Japan Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Wayne had a love for boating and being around the water. He also looked
forward to reading the daily paper and working the cross word puzzle and
had a wonderful knowledge of most any subject.
Wayne was a man of many talents. After returning home from the Army he
became a truck driver for many different types of business hauling, local
and coast-to-coast.
In May, 1954 he joined the Asbestos Workers Local #1 and in Dec. 1999 he
received his 45 year pin, as a pipe cover, retiring in 1981.
Wayne was a life time member of the Florissant Valley V.F.W. Post 4105.
Wayne was proceeded in death by his father, mother, one step-sister Doris
Noss, father and mother-in-law Tom and Sarah nee Setzer, Prince, several
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Wayne McIntosh leaves to mourn his passing his loyal and loving wife of 56
years, Lorraine of Florissant, Mo., one step-sister Merry Lee Moll and
husband Bill of St. Louis, Mo.
Three sisters-in-laws Lu Prince; Cuba, Mo., Zelda Prince; Linn, Mo., and
Lola Mae Prince Gasten, Omaha, Nebraska; one foster niece Jean Evans/Oth
and husband Bob, of Florissant, Mo. Many dear nieces, nephews, cousins and
a host of friends.
Wayne Leon McIntosh lay in state from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25,
2000 at Hutchens Mortuary, 675 Graham Road, Florissant, Mo. Funeral
services were held on Monday, June 26, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary
Taylor of the First Baptist Church of O'Fallon, Mo. officiating, with full
military services, interment at St. Charles Memorial Gardens, St. Charles,
Mo.
Nephews serving as casket bearers were Steve Williams, Glenn Prince, Artie
Baclesse, Bob Oth, Danny DeRoy, James Wolfe.

Alice Gladine Barr
Alice Gladine Barr (nee Turnbough) was born Monday, July 20, 1908, in
Davisville, Mo., a daughter of the late Samuel Austin Turnbough and Rosa
Bell Turnbough (nee Craig).
She entered into eternal rest Friday, July 7, 2000 at Scott City, Mo., at
the age of 91 years, 11 months and 17 days.
On October 13, 1928, at the Court House in Steelville, Mo., Alice was
united in marriage to Finis Edward Barr, son of the late Dr. Russell
Sherman Barr and Mary Ellen Barr (nee Morrison). Three sons and six
daughters were born to this union.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant
daughter, Bonnie Louise Barr, five sisters, Bertha and husband Fred Tinker,
Dora Laird Watson, Amanda and husband William Albert Tinker, Hattie
Turnbough and Myrtle and husband Frank Casbolt; four brothers, Roy
Turnbough and wife Beulah, Henry Turnbough and wife Lura, Emery Turnbough,
and Troy Turnbough; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Grace and George
Turnbough, Lawrence and Etna Barr, Fred and Evie Barr, Roy and Garane Barr
and Lynn Barr.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her children, Emma Lee and
husband Jesse Hogan of Steelville, Mo., Georgia Marie and husband Dr.
Robert Hill of Lebanon, Tennessee, William Finis Barr and wife Diana of
Steelville, Mo., Ronald Edward Barr and wife Joan of Mt. Julst, Tennessee,
Doris Jo and husband Rev. John Gibbs of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Marilyn
Sue and husband Rev. Don Dugan of Pleasant View, Tennessee, Harold Thomas
Barr and wife Patty of Scott City, Mo., and Janet Lynn and husband Lindell
Wood of Union, Mo.
Twenty-five grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, one
great-great-granddaughter; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Loretta
Turnbough of O'Fallon, Mo., Herman and Margaret Barr of Desloge, Mo.,
Sherman Jr. and Louise Barr of Macon, Mo., Valle Barr of Potosi, Mo.
Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends who will
remember her as a devoted Christian lady, who put her Lord and her family
first in her life. She will be missed.
Alice Gladine Barr lay in state 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2000, at
the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were
held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2000 in the Britton Chapel with her
sons-in-law, Dr. Bob Hill, Rev. John Gibbs and Rev. Don Dungan officiating.
Musical selections were provided by her grandchildren.
Committal prayers and interment was in Czar Cemetery, Viburnum, Mo.
Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers were Adam Barr, Chris Dungan,
Darin Gibbs, Rob Hill, David Hogan, and Scott Wood. Honorary pallbearers
were Jonathan Barr, Donnie Dungan, Rusty Hill, and Terry Hill.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Brothers Funeral Home,
Steelville, Mo.
Golden W. Kline
Golden W. "Goldie" Kline of Sullivan passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2000
at the age of 88 years.
Mrs. Kline was born on September 24, 1911 in Leasburg, Missouri to the late
John and Mayme (Campbell) Phillips. She was raised in Leasburg, and has
been a lifelong resident of the Sullivan area.
On October 8, 1932 she was joined in marriage to Jacob Raymond Kline in
Union, Missouri, and to this union eight children were born. "Goldie" as
she was known to her family and friends, primarily served throughout her
adult life as a devoted wife, loving mother, and diligent homemaker. She
loved to cook and work in her yard, and, therefore, was quite famous for
her homemade bread and beautiful flowers. As a member of the Sullivan
Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's Witnesses, she was especially gifted in
providing her own warm style of hospitality to literally anyone who might
come along. She will well be remembered for her "mother-hen" instincts, and
for being so appropriately named "Golden."
She is survived by four sons, Raymond Kline, Jr. and wife, Marion, Dan
Kline, Dale Kline and wife, Elizabeth, and Dave Kline and wife, Pat, all of
Sullivan; two daughters, Mamie Susan Irwin and husband, Roger of St. Clair,
and Florence Floros of Sullivan; two sisters, Eileen Vaughn of Leasburg and
Barbara Boren of Pevely, Missouri; 25 grandchildren, 28
great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, other
relatives, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one
son, Don Kline; one daughter, Gloria Ruby Smith; two brothers, John and
Forrest Phillips; one sister, Imo Ransom; and two grandsons, Chris Floros
and Mark Kline.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2000 from
the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Mr. Gerald Goff
officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery. If desired,
contributions may be made to the Sullivan Kingdom Hall of the Jehovah's
Witnesses in memory of Mrs. Goldie Kline.
