Helen R. Ballentine
Helen R. Ballentine nee Spradley of New Haven, Missouri,
formerly of Leasburg, Missouri, was born on Thursday, July 25, 1907
to the union of Larkin D. Spradley and Virginia Goldie Wellington
Spradley. She passed away at the New Haven Care Center on Sunday,
July 12, 2006 at the age of 98 years, 11 months and 7 days.
Helen married Albert Willard Ballentine in Kansas City,
Missouri on July 5, 1924 and to this union four children were born.
For several years Helen worked as a restaurant hostess at Putch's,
Muehlebach and Top of the Tower in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a
graduate of Dale Carnegie course. Helen was an excellent seamstress,
even making her family's clothing and re-upholstering furniture. She
also enjoyed raising flowers and designing floral arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband,
Albert Ballentine; children, Albert W. Ballentine, Jr., Betty
Jackson and Barbara Foster; sister, Inez May; and granddaughter,
Robin Suzanne Gomez.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her daughter,
Loretta Kay Wall and husband Walter Wall of Overland, Kansas;
sons-in-law, Lt. Col. Don Foster and Dr. Jerry Oehler and wife
Julie, all of Salinas, California; 13 grandchildren; 31 great
grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; nieces; nephews;
cousins and many friends.
Visitation was Friday, July 7, 2006 from 10-11 a.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was Friday, July 7, 2006 at 11 a.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson
officiating. Burial at Crossroads Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri with
pallbearers Cecil Jackson Jr., Michael Gomez, Trent Jackson, Tyrone
Oehler, Douglas Oehler and Mark Simon.
All arrangements under the direction of Hutson Funeral
Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Pauline Enke
Pauline H. Enke, 89, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2006
at Frene Valley Healthcare South in Owensville, Missouri.
Pauline was born July 1, 1917 in Owensville, Missouri to
the late Frank and Cassie Ringeisen Havelka. On August 16, 1933 she
married Charles Enke in Hermann, Missouri. She was a member of St.
John's United Church of Christ in Bem, Missouri.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles; four
brothers, Ervin, Victor, Edward and Clarence Havelka and a sister,
Marie Meyer.
She is survived by a son, James Enke and wife Marian of
Cuba, Missouri; four daughters, Doris Brand and husband Don, Dorothy
Ellis and husband Gene, all of Owensville, Missouri; Judy Kuhlmann
and husband William of St. Louis, Missouri and Cindy Mercer of New
Haven, Missouri.
A sister, Rose Hurst and husband Virgil of Owensville,
Missouri; 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and three great
great grandchildren.
Visitation was Wednesday, July 5 after 4 p.m. at the
Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville. The funeral service was
at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Chapel in the funeral
home with Rev. Lansford Lawrence officiating.
Burial was in the St. John's United Church of Christ
Cemetery in Bem, Missouri.
Diana Marie Hampton
Diana Marie Hampton was born November 23, 1949 to the
union of Arthur Hampton and Theresa Hampton Norton in St. Louis,
Missouri. She departed this life on June 27, 2006 at Missouri
Baptist Hospital, St. Louis at the age of 56 years, 7 months and
four days.
Diana was united in marriage in August of 1967 to James
Rehmus. He preceded her in passing in 1981. In addition to her
husband, her parents, and one grandchild, Kyle Rehmus, preceded her
in death.
Her children, Robert Rehmus and wife Mary of Steelville,
Missouri; Jason Hampton of Everett, Washington and Sara Clarkson and
husband Greg of Kingston, New Hampshire survive her. Her siblings,
Randy Hampton and wife Donna of St. Peters, Nina Hampton and Ruthie
Meyers, both of St. Louis, Missouri, Rodney Hamilton and wife Debbie
and Tina Hampton, Richard Hampton, all of DeSoto, and Shannon
Hampton of Oklahoma. Her great aunt, Marie Norton Willis Hibbert of
Bowling Green, Kentucky, also survives her.
Diana was a Registered Nurse and a member of the
American Nursing Association for over 20 years. She is the last
surviving victim of the Elliot Chambers Fire of Beverly,
Massachusetts on July 4, 1984.
Diana donated her body to the Kirksville College of
Osteopathic Medicine. There will be an interment of ashes in the
fall of 2007. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
All arrangements were under the direction of
Davis-Playle-Hudson-Reimer of Kirksville, Missouri.
Vivian Irene Hogan
Vivian Irene Hogan, of Warrenton, Missouri passed away
at home on Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at the age of 88 years, 5 months
and 12 days.
Vivian was born to Claude and Mary, nee Andrews, Mathews
on January 23, 1918 in Crawford County, Missouri.
She was united in marriage to Treffie C. Hogan on
October 3, 1933 in Crawford County, Missouri. To this union, five
children were born, Grover, Earl, Carol, Lana and Debra. He preceded
her in death on March 15, 1991. They celebrated 58 years of
marriage.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Abundant Life
Church in Warrenton, Missouri.
Survivors include two sons, Grover Hogan and wife, Jean,
of Sedgewickville, Missouri and Earl D. Hogan of Warrenton,
Missouri; two daughters, Carol Lewis and husband, Larry, of
Warrenton, Missouri and Lana Sissom and husband, Dennis, of
Hazelwood, Missouri.
Two brothers, Claude Mathews of Archie, Missouri and
Charles Mathews of Conyers, Georgia; three sisters, Virginia Garner
of Garden Grove, California, Mary Newman of Hollister, Missouri and
Juanita Ewing of Florissant, Missouri; 19 grandchildren, 41 great
grandchildren, 25 great great grandchildren, and other relatives and
friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband,
Treffie; one daughter, Debra Pryor; four brothers, Bud, Leroy,
Norman and John; one sister, Frances Crombie and one grandson, Gary
Lewis.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at
11 a.m. from the Abundant Life Church in Warrenton, Missouri, with
the Reverend David Click officiating.
Burial was in the Freeman Cemetery in Cherryville,
Missouri, under the direction of the Martin Funeral Home, in
Warrenton, Missouri.
Fredrick P. Monari
Fredrick P. Monari of Cuba, Missouri was born on August 14, 1925
to the union of Albert and Agnes F. (nee Guerri) Monari and
left from this life on Monday, July 3, 2006 at Cuba, Missouri.
Fred worked as a laborer for the grape growers in the
area for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and
Agnes; two brothers, Leo and Victor Monari; and one sister, Yolanda
Monari.
Those who are left to mourn his passing is his brother,
Aldo Monari of Cuba, Missouri; a host of relatives that live in
Italy and many friends.
Visitation was held Friday, July 7 from 11 a.m. until 1
p.m. at Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri. Graveside service was
held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 7 at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery,
Rosati, Missouri with Father David Veit officiating.
All arrangements are under the direction of Britton
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Thomas L. Park
Thomas L. Park of Cuba, Missouri formerly of Alton,
Illinois was born on April 5, 1919 in St. Louis, Missouri to the
union of Thomas and Hulda Park (nee Enstall) and he left from this
life on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the age of 87 years 3 months and 1
day.
Thomas was united in marriage to Betty Gean Smith on
January 16, 1943 in Alton, IL. They enjoyed over 61 years together
until Betty's passing on June 10, 2004. From this union three
children were born, William, Thomas and Judith.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of
Cuba, 52 year member of Franklin Masonic Lodge in Alton, Illinois
and he proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a retiree
of Laclede Steel Company in Alton, Illinois. After his retirement he
enjoyed spending time with his wife and family, traveling, gardening
and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Hulda
Park; wife, Betty G. Smith (nee Enstall); son, Thomas L. Park; five
sisters, Ethel Weaver, Martha Park, Betty Forbes, Esther Long and
Evelyn Dunlap; two great grandchildren, Patrick Sissons and Brandon
Kirby.
Those who are left to mourn his passing are a son,
William (Victoria) Park; a daughter, Judith Downing; five
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Memorial service for Thomas and Betty Park will be held
at the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba, 701 N. Main St., Cuba,
Missouri on Friday, July 21, 2006. Masonic service 6:30 p.m.
followed by the memorial service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Mary Arnold,
officiating.
Private burial of their cremains will be in the Upper
Alton Cemetery, Alton, Illinois.

Terry Lynn Valley
Terry Lynn Valley was born October 15, 1950 in Bourbon,
Missouri, the daughter of the late Edgar Dillon Coffman and his
wife, Grace Mae nee Miller. She passed away on Monday, July 3, 2006
in Town and Country, Missouri at the age of 55 years.
She received her schooling in Bourbon, Missouri. Terry
had three daughters and made her home in the Cuba, Missouri area.
She worked at Aerofil in Sullivan, Missouri for a number of years.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She liked to go bowling
and also enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by three daughters, Alice Hall and Mike
of Branson, Missouri, Jessica Valley of Cuba, Missouri and Rebecca
Kramer and Eric of Sullivan, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jordan
Storm, Nathan Storm, Tyler Valley, Michayla Payne and Maddison
Kramer.
Six sisters, Gerri Gruber and Gene of Arnold, Missouri,
Catherine Wagner and Robert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Louise
Hallford and Jim of Napa, California, Margaret Risenhoover of
Rogersville, Arkansas, Donna Wissmann and Gene of Union, Missouri
and Wanda Starbeck and Ron of Bourbon, Missouri.
Five brothers, Willard Coffman and Naoma of Rolla,
Missouri, Harold Coffman and Peggy of Eustis, Florida, Donald
Coffman and Charlene of Casper, Wyoming, Charles Coffman and
Rosemary of Owensville, Missouri, Marvin Coffman and Bobbi of St.
James, Missouri; many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 11
a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri with Rev.
Jerry Keeney officiating. Interment followed in the Bourbon
Cemetery.
The Valley family was served by the Oltmann Funeral Home
in Union, Missouri.
