Bernice Blossom Booker
Bernice Blossom Booker (nee Prewett) was born Tuesday,
August 26, 1912 in Phelps County, a daughter of the late Charles
Prewett and Rosa Prewett (nee Blank). She departed this life
Thursday, June 30, 2005 at her home near Salem, Missouri.
Bernice married Tess Booker in July 1934. To this union
two sons, Dale and Lyndell, and one daughter June were born. They
enjoyed over 70 years together before his death November 23, 2004.
In addition to her parents and Tess, Bernice was
preceded in death by four brothers, Roy Prewett, Ray Prewett and
wife Opal, Clark Prewett and wife Donna and Loyld Prewett; and three
sisters, Emma and husband Ben Allen, Lois and husband Russell Gibson
and Helen Prewett.
Also preceding her in death were brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Jack and Joyce Booker, Frank Booker, Olen and Elsie
Martin, Edna and Johnny Duncan.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children
Dale Booker, Lyndell Booker and June Polk and husband Bob all of
Salem, Missouri; three grandchildren, Gail and husband Bill Feil of
St. Charles, Missouri, Gary Polk and wife Denise of Salem, Missouri
and Bernice and husband Terry Heinzler of Republic, Missouri.
Fifteen great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Fred and Jessie Booker of Cook Station, Missouri,
Irene Booker of Waynesville, Missouri, Bill and Goldie Miller of
Florida, Bessie Clark of Crocker, Missouri; nieces; nephews;
cousins; other relatives and many friends.
Bernice Blossom Booker (nee Prewett) lay in state from
noon till 1 p.m., Saturday, July 2, 2005 at the Britton Bros.
Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held at
1 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Martin officiating.
Interment was in the Carty Cemetery, Salem, Missouri.
Honoring Bernice as pallbearers were Charles Gibbs, Scott Flett,
Klaus Myers, Jerry Booker, Scott Selberg and Doug Hanner.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton
Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Agnes Marie Davis
Agnes Marie Davis, nee Turnbough, of Steelville,
Missouri, was born Thursday, April 29, 1920 in Viburnum, Missouri, a
daughter of the late Fred and Mittie (Mason) Turnbough. She departed
this life Saturday, July 2, 2005 at Phelps County Regional Medical
Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 3
days.
At Cherryville Christian Church, in 1954 she accepted
Christ being buried with him in baptism.
On September 5, 1942, at the courthouse in Steelville,
Missouri, Agnes was united in marriage by the Justice of the Peace
Evans, to Roy Louis Davis, son of Roy and Fannie Davis. Six sons and
three daughters were born to this union. They have enjoyed over 62
years together.
In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death
by one daughter, Linda Arlene Davis and three brothers, Glenn
Turnbough, Arnold Leroy Turnbough and Jr. Turnbough and one sister,
Ina Davis, a daughter-in-law, Donna Davis, brothers-in-law and
sisters-in-law, Lydle Davis, Eugene Davis, Glen and Virginia Davis,
Max Davis, Bruce McGlasson, Hazel and Ray Gibbs and Treffie Adams.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her
husband Roy Louis Davis of Steelville, Missouri; her children, Bill
Davis and wife Karen of Union, Missouri, Mary Mead of Steelville,
Missouri, Robert Davis and wife Darlene of Union, Missouri, Charles
Davis and wife Sharon also of Union, Missouri, Lydle Davis of
Steelville, Missouri, Gary Davis and wife Ramona of St. Louis,
Missouri, Alta and husband David Warner of St. Louis, Missouri and
Fred Davis of Union, Missouri.
Also remaining are 14 grandchildren and 17 great
grandchildren.

Overland, Missouri, Jack Davis of Arnold, Missouri, Gilbert and Ina
Davis of Steelville, Missouri, Juanita Turnbough, Mildred Davis and
Nerene McGlasson, all of St. Louis, Missouri; Hilma Adams of Lynn,
Missouri and Joann and Bob Crabtree of Bourbon, Missouri; nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Agnes Marie Davis lay in state 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 4,
2005, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5,
2005, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Woodrow Martin officiating.
Musical selections were provided by Paul Gibbs and Joann Crabtree.
Committal prayers and interment was in Earney Cemetery,
Cherryville, Missouri. Honoring their mother as pallbearers were her
sons, Bill, Robert, Charles, Gary and Lydle Davis and grandson Roy
Davis. Honorary pallbearers were also a son Fred Davis and
son-in-law, David Warner.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Carolyn Louise Gibson
Carolyn Louise Gibson nee Stier of Cuba, Missouri was
born on February 16, 1938 in Knoxville, Tennessee to the union of
Clifford Stier and Hazel Brewton Stier and passed away on July 3,
2005 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri at the age
of 67 years 4 months and 17 days.
On August 1, 1959 Carolyn was united in marriage to Ben
Gibson at Knoxville, Tennessee. One son, Brian, and one daughter,
Judy, were born to this union. Carolyn and Ben have enjoyed 45
years of marriage.
Carolyn was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church
of Cuba, Missouri and enjoyed singing in the church choir.
She enjoyed painting (especially painting pictures of
birds) and crafts. Carolyn also had a wonderful sense of humor.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life
are her devoted husband, Ben Gibson; children, Brian Gibson and wife
Melanie and Judy Hill and husband Steve; brother, Danny Stier and
wife June; sister, Peggy Briseno and husband Fidel; three
grandchildren, Aaron and David Hill and Samantha Gibson; other
relatives and many friends.
Carolyn was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother,
sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Carolyn Louise Gibson was in state at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Services were held on
Friday, July 8, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Cuba United Methodist Church
of Cuba, Missouri with Paul Lathum officiating. Interment was in
the Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.

Barbara "Bobbie" J. Kamler
Barbara "Bobbie" J. Kamler was born in Sullivan,
Missouri on March 16, 1934. She was the daughter of Robert Dunton
and Lenora Souders Dunton.
She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at
Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 29 days.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents and one
brother, Dale Dunton.
On March 28, 1953 Bobbie was united in marriage with
Melvin J. Kamler. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage and lived life
to the fullest. They were the team of all teams. They never did
anything apart and enjoyed every minute with each other.
Bobbie had a great love of life, family and friends. She
had a deep love for God and was a member of the First Baptist Church
of Cuba, Missouri. She loved to care for her family and was selfless
in doing so. She was a great cook, entertainer, decorator and avid
gardener. She could make anything grow. She loved the outdoors and
all the flowers, trees and animals that constantly surrounded her.
Bobbie had a large group of dear friends and cherished
every moment with each of them.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life
are her devoted husband Melvin Kamler; two daughters, Debbie Keogh
and her husband Sonny, Cristy Kruse and her husband Ed; two sons,
Steve Kamler, Mat Kamler and his wife Dawn; her grandchildren,
Kenzie Keogh and her son Mason, Stephen Keogh, his wife Shannon and
their son Dylan, Paige and Nick Kruse, Preston, Andy and Cody
Kamler, Amanda Kamler and her sons Trey and Kayden, Isabella Kamler;
one sister Betty Dennis, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri and funeral services were held at the
First Baptist Church in Cuba, Missouri on Friday, June 17 and 11
a.m., with Reverend Jesse Parrott and Justin Mosher officiating.
Interment was in the Kinder Cemetery, at Cuba, Missouri.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba, Missouri.
David James Kueter
David James Kueter of Steelville, Missouri, was born
Sunday, January 16, 1921 at St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late
Herman Kueter and Anna Schulte Kueter.
He entered eternal life on Saturday, June 25, 2005 at
the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the
age of 84 years, 5 months and 9 days.
David Kueter served in the United States Navy 1942-1946
as a Radio Technician aboard a light attack destroyer in the
Pacific. He was inducted into the Missouri Bar in 1956 and practiced
as an Attorney and Judge in St. Louis and Steelville until he was
well into his 70's.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death
by one brother John Kueter and four sisters, Virginia, Mary, Rose
and Ruth.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his two
daughters Connie Kueter Bellet and husband Phil White Hawk of
Palermo, Maine and Krisann Olmstead and husband Mark of Austin,
Texas; granddaughter, Laura Olmstead of Austin, Texas; one brother
Paul Kueter and wife Carrolle -Ann Mochernuck of Plainfield, New
Jersey; devoted companion Elise Arnold of Steelville, Missouri;
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
David James Kueter lay in state from 10-11 a.m., Friday,
July 1, 2005 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
A ceremony of remembrance was held at 11 a.m. when
family and friends were welcomed by Paul Kueter, Connie Kueter
Bellet, and Krisann Kueter Olmstead.
Original piano selections and some of David's favorites
were played by Paul Kueter. Connie remembered her father's heroes
and humor. Paul did an eulogy titled "My Brother David," afterwards
giving others a time of speaking and sharing memories of David. In
closing, The Lord's Prayer was led in unison by granddaughter, Laura
Olmstead.
Graveside services with full military honors were held
Friday, July 1, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at the Jefferson Barracks, St.
Louis, Missouri.
Honoring David as pallbearers were Paul Kueter, Mark
Olmstead, Ed Wynne, Carl Muench, Danny Barry, Phil White Hawk and
Jerry Long, Jr.
Burial was in the Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis,
Missouri.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros.

Grace Josephine Mallow
Grace Josephine Mallow nee Avery of Steelville, Missouri
was born on Friday, June 7, 1929 in Steelville, Missouri to William
Trezzie Avery and Reabel Lattie Brown Avery. She passed away on
Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan,
Missouri at the age of 76 years and 29 days.
Grace married Alvin M. Mallow in Steelville, Missouri on
June 14, 1947 officiated by Rev. Sam Roper. Grace lived most of her
life in Crawford County and was a member of the Liberty Methodist
Church. She spent much of her life farming, gardening, canning,
quilting, crocheting, embroidering, raising chickens and especially
loved her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband
Alvin; brother Kenneth Avery; brother-in-law Gene Bandy;
sisters-in-law Bessie Edwards, Florence Vance, and Vetta Harmon.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her brother
John Avery and wife Beverly of Owensville, Missouri; sisters Nellie
Cook and husband Charles, Bessie Jackson and husband Don, all of
Ballwin, Missouri, Adele Suerig and husband Tom of Robertsville,
Missouri; sisters-in-law Mildred Avery of St. Louis, Missouri, and
Geraldine Bandy of Sullivan, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins and
many friends.
Visitation was Saturday, July 9, 2005 from 4-9 p.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson
officiating. Music selections were "Amazing Grace" and "Precious
Memories" sung by Mrs. Rusty Cook.
Burial was at Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
Serving as pallbearers were Michael Jackson, Timmy Jackson, Travis
Suerig, Brian Suerig, Richard Heusler and Sue Gleich.

Norman "Red" Paquet
Norman "Red" Paquet, fortified with the Sacraments of
Holy Mother Church, on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at the age of 78.
Beloved husband of Virginia Paquet (nee Labruyere);
beloved father of Ted Paquet, Butch Paquet, Beth Ann (Bill) Simpson,
Patti Lawson, Shari (Neal) Mareschal, David Paquet, Kathi Paquet,
and the late Gary Paquet; beloved father-in-law of Frances Paquet;
beloved grandfather of 15, great grandfather of 14; beloved brother
of Sondra DeLay; our beloved uncle, great-uncle, brother-in-law, and
friend.
He enjoyed gardening and most of all spending time with
his family who will all dearly miss him.
Visitation was Thursday, July 7, 2005 from 3-9 p.m. at
Hoffmeister South County Chapel, St. Louis, Missouri.
Funeral services were Friday, July 8, 2005 at 11:30 a.m.
at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, St. Louis, Missouri.
Burial was at Parklawn Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri
with full military honors. Serving as pallbearers were grandsons

Lola M. Pilz
Lola M. Pilz nee Daughtrey was born at Silverton, Texas
to the union of Edward Daughtrey and Mary Russell Daughtrey and
passed away on July 1, 2005 at the Phelps County Regional Medical
Center of Rolla, Missouri at the age of 87 years 4 months and 17
days.
Edward Daughtrey was a farmer/rancher and Lola, an only
child, grew up loving the outdoors and following her father around
helping to care for the cattle and horses.
She grew up and attended school in Texas. After
graduation she moved to Kansas City where she was employed by an
insurance company. After a few years she was transferred to St.
Louis to open and manager a branch office for the insurance company.
Lola then quit the insurance company and accepted a
position with the School District of Clayton where she worked for
seven years before moving to Cuba.
She met and married Alfred Pilz in St. Louis. He was
employed by General Motors, Chevrolet Division. Alfred preceded her
in death in 1991.
Alfred and Lola bought property on Highway O, south of
Cuba and built a home. Lola enjoyed her retirement, she loved the
out of doors, her family, friends and pets. She liked to read,
travel, do needlework, swim and ride horseback.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life
two daughters, Mary Kittrell and Sherri Padilla; four grandchildren,
Phillip and Rusty Kittrell and Joseph and Jenna Powers; other
relatives and friends.
Lola was a warm hearted and generous person and was
willing to share with anyone in need. She will be sadly missed.

July 10, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Britton Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri
with Paul Lathum officiating. All arrangements were under the

James Edward Simpson
James Edward Simpson was born Friday, February 14, 1930,
at Steelville, Missouri, a son of the late Thomas Jefferson Simpson
and Margaret Ann Simpson, (nee Blackwell).
He departed this life Friday, July 1, 2005, at the
Sunset Health Care Center, Union, Missouri at the age of 75 years, 4
months and 17 days.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his first wife, Mary Magdeline Simpson (nee Cantrell); six children,
Charles Edward Mesey, Janice Maccance, Mary Ann Andreson, Brenda
Drier, Everett Mesey, Michael Mesey. Five brothers, Leonard, Roy,
Peter "Pete", John "Dick" and Ernest "Jack" Simpson and five
sisters, Margaret Grimm Zella Smith, Ethel Graham, Imogene Shell and
Mary Simpson.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his
devoted wife, Pauline Simpson (nee Jackson) of the home in Salem,
Missouri; one sister, Nora "Billy" Pollic of Mexico, Missouri;
children, Sue Mesey of Gerald, Missouri, Carol Sue (John) Pritchard
of Farmer Branch, Texas, Jackie (Betty) Mesey of Imperial, Missouri,

James Edward Simpson lay in state after 10 a.m. until
time of the funeral services at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2005. Rev.
James Self officiated with Jaisa Self providing the musical
selections.
Committal prayers and interment was in New Diggens
Cemetery, Potosi, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were David
Powell, Harry Jackson, Richard Jackson, Danny Mesey, Josh Messex and
Jonathan Messex. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Rev. Ronald Wayne Smith
Rev. Ronald Wayne Smith, 65, Dover, Arkansas, passed
away Friday, July 8, 2005 at Cuba, Missouri. He was born January 17,
1940, at Los Angeles, California to Roy Clifford and Imogene Wallace
Smith.
He was an ordained minister with the Full Gospel
Churches International and was a member of the Trinity Full Gospel
Outreach church at Dover.
Since January of 2005 he, along with his wife, had been
care-takers of Camp Moriah, a Full Gospel Church Camp in Cuba,
Missouri.
He was very active in many church activities and enjoyed
life to the fullest. He was a United States Army veteran of Vietnam
and retired from the service after 25 years. He was also retired
from ConAgra Frozen Foods.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors includes his wife of 22 years, Thelma Jean
Smith of Dover; four sons, and two daughters-in-law, Mark W. and
Billie Smith of St. Joseph, Missouri, Mike Smith of St. Joseph,
Missouri, Bradley D. and Alisha "Tia" Smith of Columbia, Missouri
and Eric A. Smith of Trenton, Missouri; a brother and sister-in-law,
Jerry W. and Aline Smith of Conway; a sister Geraldine Bush of
Russellville; five grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2005
at 10 a.m. at Shinn Chapel with the Rev. Joyce Turner and Rev. Cecil
"Sonny" Sain officiating. Burial with military honors provided by
the VFW Rogers-Rye Post 2283, will be in the East Point Cemetery at
Russellville, under the direction of the Shinn Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Ken Smith, James H. Smith, Wayne W.
Pettis, Jim Collins, Josh McDonald and Bob Grisby. Honorary
pallbearers were Bob Ward, Rev. Randall Handly, Rev. Richard
Williams, Thomas M. Polson and Bobby Heflin.
Visitation was Tuesday, July 12, 2005 from 7-8 p.m. at
the funeral home.
James E. Summers, Jr.
James E. Summers, Jr, former police officer in the
Bourbon and Cuba, Missouri areas, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2005
at the age of 48 years, 2 months and 7 days.
Jim was born at Washington, Missouri on April 28, 1957
to James Eugene and Mary (West) Summers, Jr. He was raised in the
Bourbon area and graduated from Bourbon High School in 1975.
On June 20, 1975 he entered military duty with the U.S.
Air Force where he served as a military policeman. Upon his
honorable discharge, Jim returned to Bourbon where he became
employed with the Crawford County Sheriff's Office as a deputy.
Later he worked with Franklin County, Bourbon Police and finally the
Cuba Police from which he retired.
Still being young in life, Jim became employed at TRADCO
in Washington, Missouri as a product finisher for aircraft parts.
On September 25, 2004 he was united in marriage to Lynn
M. Nolden at Owensville, Missouri.
Jim was known as a man who was kind hearted, had a sense
of humor and enjoyed pulling jokes on everyone. He believed in
giving a person a second chance and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his wife Lynn, of the family home;
three sons Michael S. Summers of Villa Ridge, Missouri, James E.
Summers III and wife Beth with the U.S. Army at Ft. Hood, Texas and
Thomas A. Summers of Bourbon, Missouri; two step sons Lawrence White
of Sullivan, Missouri and Benjamin Berry of Bourbon, Missouri; two
step daughters Melissa Norris of Cuba, Missouri and Rachael Berry of
St. Louis, Missouri.
His parents James and Mary Summers, Sr. of Bourbon,
Missouri; a brother James Klocke and wife Julie of Bourbon,
Missouri; two sisters Linda Simmerly and husband Michael of Cuba,
Missouri and Anna Tracey and husband William of Bourbon, Missouri;
his mother-in-law Georgia Nolden of Cuba, Missouri; one grandchild;
other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July
8, 2005 from the Eaton Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 301
Sappington Bridge Road in Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Matthew
Schaefer officiating.
Interment with full military honors was held in Bourbon
Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton
Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Edna Irene Walker
Edna Irene Walker nee Williams of Steelville, Missouri
was born on Sunday, June 27, 1909 in Scotia, Missouri to Giles Edwin
Williams and Edith Viola Clonts Williams. She passed away on Monday,
July 4, 2005 at Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri at the age
of 96 years and 7 days.
Edna was a lifelong resident of Crawford County. She
married Alvin Russell Walker on March 31, 1928 in Steelville,
Missouri and to this union four children were born.
Edna was very active in church work, she attended
several churches down through the years. She taught Sunday school,
led the WMU ladies group, worked in Bible School and loved to sing
in the choir. She was currently a member of First Baptist Church,
Cuba, Missouri.
Edna taught school for over 40 years, many of those
years were in the rural area schools throughout Crawford County.
Edna was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, an honor society for
Women Educators.
She later helped her husband Alvin with the mail route.
Edna was a very busy caring person who was always ready to lend a
helping hand when needed.
Her hobbies were quilting, ceramics, walking outdoors,
painting, crocheting, making afghans, doll collecting, and
antiquing.
Edna most of all loved being with her family and
especially her grandchildren. Edna was voted Queen of the Cuba
Senior Center a few years ago and in 2002, she was named Queen in
the District Nursing Home contest then later won first runner up in
the State Nursing Home contest.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband;
one son Russell Walker; two sisters Velma Knight and husband Jim,
and Alice Jones and husband Al; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law
Georgia Williams, Anna Blunt, Mae and Steve May, Zelma and Jack
Davis, Lola and George Bryan, Laura and Floyd Pinnell, Arvil and
Tressie Walker, Clyde and Virgie Walker.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children

and Sue Richards and husband Wayne, all of Steelville, Missouri;
sister Ruby Williams of Steelville; brothers Edwin Henry Williams of

Brother-in-law Woodrow Blunt and wife Mary of St. Louis;
