Eugene Roy Bonner
Eugene Roy Bonner of Sullivan, Missouri, was born at Maywood, California
on March 30, 1926 to Clarence Edgar and Charlotte Virginia (Scott) Bonner
and passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
He lived in California and Arizona for a time and later enlisted in the
U.S. Army Air Corps as a gunner on B-44’s. He later entered the U.S. Air
Force where he was an investigator with both the Air Force and the Army.
He retired from the Air Force and became an investigator with the
U.S. Treasury Department and was transferred to St. Louis, from which he
retired after 20 years.
On June 10, 1943, he was untied in marriage to Betty Jean Robinson at
Newkirk, Oklahoma and to this marriage two daughters were born.
He and Betty moved to Sullivan in 1994 where he enjoyed woodworking in his
free time.
Eugene was known by many as a self-made man and for his strong personality.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 484 in Kirkwood Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Charlotte Bonner;
and brother, Earl Bonner.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of the family home; two daughters,
Jeanette Bonner-Sage of St. Charles, Missouri and Judy Koch and husband
Steve of Bourbon, Missouri; one sister, Darlene Hansen and husband Robert
of the state of Oregon; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Barton and husband
Richard of St. John, Indiana and Derek Paul Adams and wife Valerie of
Bourbon, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Morgan and Austin Barton and
Makena Adams; other relatives and friends.
Graveside funeral services, with full military honors, were conducted at
11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in the National Cemetery at Jefferson
Barracks, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan,
Missouri.
Darlene Sue Morrison Callahan
Darlene Sue Morrison Callahan was born September 25, 1944 and passed away
June 25, 2012.
Darlene graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of
Arts in psychology and a Master of Arts in rehabilitation counseling. The
bulk of her professional life was spent helping children and women who were
victims of abuse.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Morrison of Steelville,
Missouri.
She is survived by her son, Heath Callahan; mother, Verla Morrison of
Lehigh Acres, Florida; brothers, Gary and Bruce Morrison; other relatives
and friends.
Kenneth Norman Davault
Kenneth Norman Davault of Rosebud, Missouri was born in St. Louis on
August 12, 1931 to William Jacob and Blanche (Hutchinson) Davault and
passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at his residence at the age of 80 years,
11 months and 1 day.
On September 4, 1954 in Rosebud he was united in marriage to Sylvia
Luhring.
He was a member of Old Argo Presbyterian Church, Gerald Fire Dept. and a
former member of the Gerald Lions Club. He owned and operated the
Northside AG and also had worked at Bull Moose Tube.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Robert Davault and
Raymond W. Davault and by two sisters, Merl Davault and Pearl Davault.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; children, Roger D. Davault and wife
Judy of Alton, Illinois and Rhonda K. Davault and special friend Tonya of
Rosebud, Missouri; grandchildren, Derrick Davault, Dustin Davault,
Kimberly Baker and Ashley Hatton; brother-in-law, Calvin and Naomi Luhring
of Rosebud, Missouri; nephew, Aubrey Davault and wife Trish of St. James,
Missouri; great nieces, Ashley of Florida and Megan of St. James, Missouri;
and by special friends, Gary and Melanie Adkison of Owensville, Missouri.
Visitation began at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the Gottenstroeter
Funeral Home in Owensville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the
Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville with Pastor Rob Cardwell
officiating.
Burial was in the Countryside Memorial Gardens in Owensville, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in
Owensville, Missouri.
Mary Alice Mullen Gindhart
Mary Alice Mullen Gindhart was born on November 21, 1950 in St. Louis,
Missouri to William J. and Frances A. Mullen and passed away July 8, 2012
after suffering a long fight against lung disease at the age of 61 years.
Mary Alice graduated Cuba High School in 1968 and moved on to continue
education in journalism and communication at Arizona State University.
She worked as a reporter and editor for The Arizona Republic and Phoenix
Gazette in Phoenix, Arizona from 1981 until 1997.
It was at a 1982 press conference at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix with
then Interior Secretary James Watt she met and fell and fell in love with
her husband of 29 years, Floyd “Bud” Gindhart.
Mary Alice and Bud were married May 22, 1983 in Phoenix. Their union was
shared with children, Jonathan James Gindhart and Victoria Rae Gindhart.
Mary Alice returned to school and earned her master’s degree in social work
from ASU.
After long careers in print and broadcast journalism Mary Alice and Bud
moved to Cherry, Arizona. She achieved her life-long dream of working with
children and their families for a healthier and happier live. She was an
11-year employee of West Yavapai Guidance Clinic, serving as a Child and
Family Therapist.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Frances Mullen and
her eldest sister, Linda Mullen Jones.
She is survived by her husband, Bud of the home; sister, Susan Casarotto
and husband Larry of Cuba, Missouri; two nephews, Timothy Jones and Jason
Casarotto; brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Judy Gindhart and their
daughter Biera; her children and three grandchildren whom she fondly
called her “grand girls”; other relatives and friends.
No services are planned at this time.
William J. Holbrook
William J. Holbrook of Cuba, Missouri passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margarette E. (nee Parissi) Holbrook.
He is survived by children, Jo (Jeff) Davis, Michael (Donna) Schaefer and
Jacquelin (Scott) Johnston; grandchildren, Trisha, Angela, Eric and
Michelle; great grandchildren, Jeremy, Marissa, Jordan, Kayleigh and
Christian; other relatives and friends.
Graveside service was held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Oak
Hill Cemetery in Kirkwood, Missouri.
Gerald Martin
Gerald Martin of Rolla, Missouri was born July 25, 1945 in St. Louis,
Missouri to Leo and Clara (Peake) Martin, and passed away on July 9, 2012
in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 66 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Clara Martin and a
brother-in-law, Charlie Happel.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Happel) Martin of Rolla, Missouri; step
children, Frank Southard and wife Nancy of St. James, Missouri, Rita
Persicke and husband Bill of St. James, Missouri and Dale Southard and
wife Julie of Rolla, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Erma Thurman of Cuba,
Missouri, Pearl Norris of St. James, Missouri, Pauline Adams of Joplin,
Missouri, Cathy Magas and husband Lee of Oregon, Norma Russow of Carthage,
Missouri and Lola Bartle and husband Jack of St. James, Missouri;
brothers-in-law, James Lewis and wife Mary of Cuba, Missouri and Kenneth
Happel and wife Francis of St. James, Missouri; 10 grandchildren; eight
great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service was held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Flag
Springs Church in St. James, Missouri with Rev. Allen Smith officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary of Rolla,
Missouri.
Kayla Ann Martin
Kayla Ann Martin was born October 12, 1983 in Rolla, Missouri to Randy
Martin and Debra Holladay and passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Phelps
County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 28 years.
Kayla graduated from the Steelville High School Class of 2002. She worked
at Phillips 66 in Cuba for the last seven years and was their general
manager.
She was baptized at Midland Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her infant child; paternal grandfather, Jim
Martin and maternal grandmother, Glenda Holladay.
She is survived by her fiancé Zackary Stubbert of Steelville, Missouri;
children, Zackary James Stubbert and Lillian Audrey Stubbert, both of
Steelville, Missouri; one step-daughter, Brooklyn Stubbert of Cuba,
Missouri; parents, Debbie Collins and husband Jack of Cuba, Missouri and
Randy Martin and wife Anna of Cherryville, Missouri; grandparents, Betty
Martin of Steelville, Missouri and Burl Holladay of Arkansas; two brothers,
Kevin Martin of Cuba, Missouri and Kyle Martin of Steelville, Missouri;
uncles and aunts, Tony and Laura Martin, Keith and Cathy Martin and Susan
and Jim Britton, all of Steelville, Missouri, Pat Holladay of Colorado
and Delila Clay of Missouri; one nephew, Jesse Martin of Cuba, Missouri;
other relatives and many friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Joe Bruno
officiating. Special music of “I’ll Fly Away,” “Long Black Train,”
“Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High” was played.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin-Trask Cemetery at
Cherryville, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Kyle, Kevin, Lance, Tommy, Tony and Keith Martin.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.
