Bonnie “June” Branson
Bonnie “June” Branson, nee Evans of Keysville, Missouri was born
February 10, 1923 in Keysville, Missouri to George W. Evans and Julia
(Hilgers) Evans and passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at her home at the
age of 87 years.
She moved to Plainville, Kansas in her early childhood where she worked at
age 14 cooking and baking pies. Later she moved to Ft. Riley, Kansas and
worked as a cook at the military base.
She returned to Keysville in June of 1943 where she was united in marriage
to Dyral Franklin Branson and to this union two children were born.
She and Dyral operated the Keysville Store and the Branson Dairy Farm.
After the sale of the dairy farm in the 1950’s they mainly raised beef
cattle. In 1969 Dyral passed away, but she continued to run the farm.
Later she moved to St. James, Missouri where she went to work at Phelps
County Hospital in Rolla and later retired from there.
June was a past member of the Presbyterian Church at Keysville and later
became a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church. She was a 50-year
member of the Easter Star in Steelville and had been Past Matron two
different times.
She was known for her many talents, which consisted of great cooking,
sewing, knitting, tatting, cross-stitching and painting pictures. In her
spare time, she enjoyed fishing and being with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Evans; her
husband, Dyral; sisters, Isolene Carmie Wickham and husband Alvin and Rhea
Ann Raymond and husband John; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Evans and Lillian
Branson; and brothers-in-law, Sterling Branson and Dave Zook.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Frazier of Keysville, Missouri; son,
Larry Branson and wife Linda of Keysville, Missouri; two brothers, George
Evans of Harrah, Oklahoma and Riley Veatch of Red Bluff, California; four
sisters, Georgia Zook of Sweet Home, Oregon, Oleta Miers of Red Bluff,
California, Regina Pursell of Bishop, California and Dixie Brizendine of
Tipton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Dawn Rector and husband Jeff of Van
Buren, Missouri, Darryl Branson and wife Carrie of Scotsdale, Missouri,
Darren Frazier of Steelville, Missouri, Angela Branson of DeKalb, Illinois
and Brandy Branson of Fayette, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Cody
Rector, Shawna Rector and Shala Rector all of Van Buren, Missouri and
Luke Branson of Scotsdale, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers
officiating. Special music of “Wind beneath My Wings,” “How Great Thou Art”
and “Going Home” was sung and played by Rev. Jerry Beers.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Keysville Cemetery. “Amazing Grace”
was played by Rob Bowness on bagpipes.
Casket bearers were Cody Rector, Jon Adams, Allen Swyers, Darren Frazier,
Darryl Branson and Jack Edgar.

Rosie L. Halbert
Rosie L. Halbert, nee Edwards of Steelville, Missouri was born June 16, 1913
in Crawford County, Missouri to Robert Edwards and Haney Elizabeth (Lamascus)
Edwards and passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at Gibbs Care Center,
Steelville, Missouri at the age of 97 years.
On June 9, 1928 in Hiawatha, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Milton
Halbert who preceded her in death on April 6, 1989.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Haney Edwards; her
husband, Milton; brothers and sisters, Clarence Edwards and wife Mary, Henry
Edwards, Woodrow Edwards and wife Wanda, Nellie McEuen and husband Homer and
Melba “Bee” Edwards; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Guy, Ralph, Rayburn,
Rainey, Dewey, Burt, Everett and Estel Halbert, Della Edgar, Vessie Wolfe,
Lena Wicmer, Pearl Halbert, Flossie Atchison, Tressie Wisdom, Eura Harper
and Lula Miller.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Melba Edwards of Sullivan, Missouri;
other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at
Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri with Bill Bennett officiating.

Marcella Marie Ives
Marcella Marie Ives of Florissant formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born
Friday, May 4, 1934 at St. Louis, Missouri to Ed and Grace (nee Jamieson)
Dyer and passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at St. Louis, Missouri at the
age of 76 years, 2 months and 6 days.
Marcella was united in marriage to Don Ives and to this union three
children were born.
Marcella spent her life taking care of her family and during the 1970’s she
was a hairdresser for a few years. She was a past Worthy Matron of the
Eastern Star, former member of the Steelville Eastern Star and had been a
member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba for many years. She enjoy
collecting “Llardos”, “Hummels” and Christmas Ornaments. But what she loved
most was her family and spending time with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Grace Dyer; son, “Donnie”
Ives; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Don Ives of the home; daughter, Pam
Schwieder of Florissant, Missouri; son, Steve and wife Theresa Ives of Cuba,
Missouri; four grandchildren, Caleb Ives of Ellisville, Missouri, Malachi
Ives of Ellisville, Missouri, Ian Ives of Cuba, Missouri and Alex Schwieder
of Florissant, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2010 at the First
Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating.

Anita L. (Hayse) Kick
Anita L. (nee Hayse) Kick of Springfield, Missouri, was born on June 10, 1935
in Cuba, Missouri to Merideth and Dollie Mae (nee Bandy) Hayse and passed
away on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the age of 75 years.
She married Phillip D. Kick on January 15, 1955 in Donaphin, Missouri and
to this union four children were born.
She worked for many years at Borge-Warner Corporation. She enjoyed her
family, church, and bowling. Anita loved to watch and support sports,
especially her Springfield Lady Bears and Cardinals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Merideth and Dollie Hayse; her
husband, Phillip and two sisters, Shirley Gatlin and Juanita Hayse.
She is survived by four children, Mark Kick and wife Joy of Gerald,
Missouri, Greg Kick and friend Cindy of Pacific, Missouri, Kathryn Hellmann
and husband Jerry of Pacific, Missouri and Matt Kick and friend Lorre of
Robertsville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Justin, Steven, Phillip,
Melanie, Marah, John and Dalton, four great grandchildren; two sisters,
Dolores Cook of Springfield, Missouri, and Janet Ruprecht and husband Gary
of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Nolan
Carrier officiating.

Robert Michael Kohring
Robert Michael Kohring was born January 3, 1985 in St. Louis, Missouri and
passed away July 14, 2010 in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 25 years.
Robert married Kathi (Hayes) Kohring on January 29, 2009.
He attended school in St. Louis, Missouri and loved to play basketball,
baseball and video games.
He is survived by his wife, Kathi of Mills, Wyoming; daughter, Katlyn Hayes
of Mills, Wyoming; mother, Retha Thiedke of Rolla, Missouri; father, Robert
Kohring of Illinois; brothers, Brian Wintjen of Farmington, Missouri and
Thomas Thiedke of Boone Terre, Missouri; sister, Cheryl Hooper and husband

Rev. Joe R. Massey
Rev. Joe R. Massey of Steelville, Missouri was born November 5, 1914 in
Crane, Missouri to James Fredric Massey and Myrtle (Gibson) Massey and
passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Marymount Manor in Eureka, Missouri
at the age of 95 years.
On December 24, 1939 in Iberia, Missouri, he was united in marriage to
Edna Shockley and to this union two children were born. Edna passed away
March 25, 2001 after she and Rev. Massey had been married for over 61 years.
Rev. Massey served his country as a “medical aid man” in the U.S. Army
during WWII. For several years he was an assistant minister in St. Louis.
In 1960, he moved to Steelville and became the pastor at the Steelville
Assembly of God Church and retired from there in 1979. Through the
leadership and guidance of Rev. Massey, the new facility was built and
is used today. He had a passion for the church and was always quoting his
favorite scripture, Psalms 103:1, “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that
is within me, bless his holy name.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Myrtle Massey; his wife,
Edna; four brothers, Carroll Massey and wife Dora, Chester Massey and wife
Bessie, John Massey and wife Katherine and James Massey; one sister, Selma
Adcock and husbands, Claude Jones and Harvey Adcock.
He is survived by a son, Ron Massey and wife Mary of Union, Missouri;
daughter, Bren Millner and husband Stuart of Union, Missouri; brother,
Darrell Massey and wife Rebecca of Rocky Mount, Missouri; sister-in-law,
Louise Massey of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Rhonda Hackworth
and husband Del of Central Point, Oregon and Jeanette Talbot and husband
Travis of Seattle, Washington; three great grandchildren, Brandon
Hollingsworth, Hailee Hackworth and Mikayla Talbot; two step grandchildren,

Steelville Assembly of God Church in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry
Beers officiating and Ron Massey sharing many memories of his father.
Special music of “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” was sung by the
congregation, led by Gary Hardecke and Shelly Beers with Sharon Hardecke
accompanying on piano.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Steelville Cemetery.

Mary B. Miller
Mary B. Miller of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, May 30, 1962 at
Mexico, Missouri to John Henry and Geraldine M. (nee Summers) Brandenburger
and passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of
48 years, 1 month and 18 days.
Mary was united in marriage to Joseph A. Miller April 6, 1991 at Cuba,
Missouri.
Mary was the proud owner and operator of Java.Net Books and Gifts and
before that she worked for the Crawford County R-II School District in the
administration building where she was the superintendents secretary. She
was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Tri-C Club and the Cuba Chamber
of Commerce. She currently served as a board member for the Crawford
County R-II School District and the Cuba Chamber of Commerce.
In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crocheting, scrapbooking,
hummingbirds and listening to her scanner. She truly enjoyed weekend
trips camping and fishing with her husband and family. She collected
sunflowers, Santa Clauses and exercise items and always attended the Cuba
Wildcats sporting events.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Geraldine
Brandenburger; brother, Randy Hamlett; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Joe of the home; three daughters, Jessica
Griffin of St. Clair, Missouri, Danielle and husband Christopher Thurman
of Branson, Missouri and Kelsey Jo Miller of the home; four grandchildren,

Myrtle Margaret Rinehart
Myrtle Margaret Rinehart of St. James, Missouri was born on June 28, 1929
at Safe, Missouri to Jasper and Violet (Tipton) Copeland and passed away
on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in St. James,
Missouri at the age of 81 years and 16 days of age.
Myrtle was united in marriage to George Milton Rinehart on July 3, 1947
at St. James Christian Church and to this union four daughters were born.
Myrtle worked at the Rolla Shoe Factory, then later retired after 22 years
of work at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in St. James, Missouri. She enjoyed
playing Bingo at the Golden Living Center, plus watching games shows on TV
and cooking. Most of all, she enjoyed the company of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Violet Copeland; her
husband, George; two daughters, Peggy Weaver and LaDonna Gregory; two
brothers, Raymond and Bernard Copeland; one sister, Fern Hogan, and one
son-in-law, James Watson.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Meziere and husband Ron of
Manhatten, Kansas and Linda Watson of St. James, Missouri; one sister,
Betty Hughes and husband Winston of St. James, Missouri; two sons-in-law,
Wilbur Weaver of Troy, Missouri and Arthur Gregory of Steelville, Missouri;

William “Bobby” Skiles
William “Bobby” Skiles of Steelville, Missouri was born on Monday,
October 12, 1981 in St. Louis County to William Arthur Skiles and Catherine
Marie Greenwalt and passed away in Richmond Heights, Missouri on Thursday,
July 8, 2010 at the age of 28 years, 8 months and 26 days.
He married Tammy Sue Volner on June 13, 2004. He worked as a roofer in
construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and loved his children very much.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill (Louise) Skiles, Calvin
Greenwalt and James A. Land, Sr.; brother, Daniel Leonard; sister, Rhonda
Bridgett and father-in-law, Kenneth Volner.

Bertha Juanita Smith nee Bland of Leasburg, Missouri was born on Monday,
July 8, 1929 in Bee Bluff, Missouri to James Virgil Bland and Helen Clara
Bunch Bland and passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in St. Louis, Missouri
at the age of 81 years and 5 days.
Bertha married Ottis Lee Smith on July 26, 1947 in Pocahontas, Arkansas and
to this union seven children were born.
She was a member of the Leasburg Assembly of God Church. Bertha was a
homemaker and also a babysitter for many families. She enjoyed fishing,
gardening, cooking, quilting, and was an exceptional seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Bland; daughters,
Miriam Gail DeClue and Sharon Brown; daughter-in-law, Mary Smith; brother,
Curtis Dale Bland; sisters, Maudlean George and Melbalean Barton;

Robert A. Thomas
Robert “Bob” A. Thomas of Cuba, Missouri was born Sunday, November 16, 1941
to Robert H. and Marie Elizabeth (nee Schwide) Thomas and passed away
Thursday, June 24, 2010 at Steelville, Missouri at the age 68 years,
7 months and 8 days.
Bob retired from Echo Supply in 1998 as a machinist after 38 years of
dedicated service. He served his community for the last 45 years by
volunteering on the Cuba Fire Department were he served at different times
as the Safety Officer, 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant and Captain. Bob was
the owner/operator of the car wash at Spencer and Hwy 19 from 1983 till 1998.
In his spare time he collected everything and anything and enjoyed watching
all of the John Wayne’s movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marie Thomas;
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hazel and Ralph Uthlaut; brother-in-law,
Dave Center; other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Dina Thomas; two daughters, Tina and husband
Terry Sanders of Cuba, Missouri and Lisa and husband Elmer “Tony” Wooley

Ruth Delores Walker
Ruth D. Walker (nee Satterfield) of Saint James, Missouri, was born
November 5, 1934 in Washington, Missouri to Russell Satterfield and wife
Zella (nee Cowan) and passed away Thursday, July, 15, 2010 at the age of
75 years.
Ruth graduated from Washington High School. They then moved to Flora,
Illinois, where she met the love her life, Donald Walker.
She married Don Walker April 4, 1953 and was his wife for 57 years.
One of her greatest accomplishments was going back to college to get a
degree in Mortuary Science at the age of 55. She was employed prior to
graduation by Beidelman Kunsh Funeral Home in Naperville, Illinois where
she served area families for 14 years.
Ruth became respected in the area of family grief counseling and working
with funeral arrangements, culminating in her becoming the first woman
president of the Dupage County Funeral Directors Association in Illinois.
She was featured in the Naperville Sun as representative of women on the
rise in her profession.
Ruth and her husband Don rode the corporate trail that took them to six
different cities as their careers progressed, with the Naperville stint
being the longest at 16 years. During their period in the Washington, D.C.
area, Ruth became the Eastern Credit Manager for the 3M Business Products
group headquartered in Georgetown.
While in her senior year at Washington High School, Ruth became the 1951
Town and Country Queen, in what is now the third largest fair in Missouri.
Since retiring to Saint James she has been a member of the Beautify Saint
James Committee, Garden Club, Homemakers Club, Chamber of Commerce, and
the LL chapter of P.E.O., State of Missouri. In earlier years, she was a
very active tennis enthusiast and has always been great lover of bridge.
She has belonged to two bridge clubs in Saint James.
Ruth was always able to create a home for her family wherever they went.
Friends always filled her home and remained friends throughout her life.
She had a unique and amazing ability to recall all of the many cousins
and distant relatives of the family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Zella Satterfield;
mother-in-law, Beulah Greenwood and father-in-law, Tom Greenwod of Flora,
Illinois.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; son, Michael (wife Marlis) of
Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Janet Hirsch (husband Frank) of
Rockford, Illinois; brothers, Ira Satterfield (wife Bonnie), Norman, both
of St. James, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Ruth has lived her life with the firmness of resolve in everything she set
out to achieve but also with compassion for others and a great sense of
fairness.
Cremation arrangements were by Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
A memorial/celebration will be held on July 31, 2010 at Matt’s Restaurant
in Rolla, Missouri with visitation with the family at 2 p.m. and the
service starting at 3 p.m.
Elvera “Vera” L. Yewell
Elvera “Vera” L. (Lohse) Yewell of Cuba, Missouri was born February 10, 1932
in St. Louis, Missouri to Harry W. Lohse and Minna P. (Prunner) Lohse and
passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital in
Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 78 years.
In 1963 at St. Louis, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Roy Yewell
who preceded her in death in 1983.
Vera worked in St. Louis for several years at the Bank of Overland as a
teller, and after moving to Steelville, worked at some of the local
restaurants and Golden Echoes where she was known as a “great bread maker.”
Later she worked at Gibbs Care and in the Deli at Voss Truck Stop in Cuba.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Steelville and a member
of the St. Michael’s Extension Club. Later she attended Holy Cross Catholic
Church in Cuba.
Vera loved traveling and especially throughout Europe. She also enjoyed
camping, fishing and having her dogs around to love.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Minna Lohse; her
husband, Roy; and one brother-in-law, Harold Mabbitt.
She is survived by her special friend, Judy Green of Cuba, Missouri; one
brother, Harry Lohse and wife Maude of St. Louis, Missouri; three sisters,
Marie Mabbitt of Chesterfield, Missouri, Katherine Stalf and Loretda Yewell
and husband John, all of St. Peters, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Father James
Finder officiating.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Martin Cemetery at Cherryville,
Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.
