She was raised in the Japan, Missouri area, and graduated from Sullivan High School Class of 1939. She was employed as a waitress in various restaurants in town, worked as a clerk at U Save Mart, and for a time at Strauser Drug. Ellen was united in marriage to Lawrence Schaffer at Saint Anthony Catholic Church and four children were born to their union. Ellen served as a camp host at several campgrounds and enjoyed watching T.V., dancing, reading and working crossword puzzles. Ellen later married Elmer Brune. She was a long time member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan, Missouri. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Tella Johnson; husbands, Lawrence Schaffer on November 16, 1971 and Elmer Brune; and one grandchild. She is survived by two sons, Stanley Schaffer and wife Margaret of Sullivan, Missouri and David M. Schaffer of Bourbon, Missouri; two daughters, Diane Taylor of Sullivan, Missouri and Rebecca Schaffer of Sullivan, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. James Dennis "Denny" Hatcher James Dennis "Denny" Hatcher of St. James, Missouri was born on September 5, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri to Everett and Lola Mae Quinley Hatcher and passed away July 13, 2014 at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 8 days. Denny was a St. James City Employee for many years. Kretzmann of La Junta, Colorado was born August 17, 1913 at Cuba, Missouri to Herman and Lydia (nee Niewald) Oberkrom and passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the age of 100 years. Hilda was united in marriage to Theodore E. Kretzmann on February 22, 1934 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cuba, Missouri and to this union one son was born. In 1955 Hilda and Ted moved to Arizona to work at the Apache Lutheran Mission. In 1965 Hilda and Ted moved to Zambia, Africa and were missionaries for 11 years before returning to the states and moving to Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Lydia Oberkrom; husband, Ted Kretzmann; son, Donald Richard Kretzmann; two brothers, Emil Oberkrom and Fredrick Oberkrom; and sister, Viola Oberkrom. She is survived by her niece, Ella and husband Kenneth Hoff of Webster Groves, Missouri; one nephew, Herman and wife Ruby Oberkrom; other relatives and friends. Robert Allen Lape Robert Allen Lape of Sullivan, Missouri was born on August 30, 1968 to Alvie Lape Jr. and Vida Jean Twillman Lape and passed Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the age of 45 years, 10 months and 12 days. Bob, as he was known by his family and friends, was raised in St. Louis in his early years and later moved to Union, Missouri and graduated high school with the Class of 1987. Bob later attended East Central College in Union, Missouri. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the first Gulf War. On November 7, 1990, Bob was united in marriage to Kimberley Meyer in Manhattan, Kansas while in the service and before his deployment. After being honorably discharged, Bob became employed with the Metropolitan Sewer District in St. Louis where he had worked the past 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, reading and spending time on the computer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Vida Lape; and a half-brother, Michael Lape. She married Jessie Elbert "Eb" Metcalf on April 14, 1948 in Steelville, Missouri. Evelyn worked at E.L. Smith Company in Quincy for several years. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and attending local music shows. She was a member of Palmyra United Pentacostal Church. She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Herbert and Marge Brooks; her mother and step-father, Ruth and Ray Nethington; sister, Maxine; and husband, Jessie on January 17, 2003. She was united in marriage to Louis Gene Norris on November 17, 1958 and this union was blessed with five children. They had just celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary before his death in December of 1976. She was a member of the Flag Springs Church, where she and Louis were baptized together. Pearl was employed as a CNA for the Country Valley Nursing Home, where she spent 24 years before she retired. She loved to garden. She enjoyed her flowers and always had a bountiful vegetable garden that she proudly shared with family, friends, and neighbors. Her hobbies included, cooking, yard sales and Missouri lottery scratch off tickets. Charles David Redding Charles David Redding of Rolla, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born September 9, 1957 at St. Louis, Missouri to Charles and Edna Redding and passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the age of 56 years. Dave was united in marriage to Mary Zeiss on April 23, 1977 at St. Louis, Missouri and to this union two children were born. Dave worked at the Ford plant before becoming disabled in 1989. When he was able he enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting and hanging wallpaper. He always watched wrestling on Monday night and spent hours putting together model cars. Dave is preceded in death by his father, Charles Redding; daughter, Tracy Redding; and brother-in-law, Don Zeiss. Mae was united in marriage to Ransom M. Robinson on February 22, 1943 and to this union six children were born. Mae was a business woman with a personal touch. Mae owned and operated three florists in St. James, Steelville and Cuba. Mae never lacked for kind words and concern for her customers - she took the time to get to know those she served. Her enjoyment of working with people caused her to work into her mid-seventies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ransom Robinson on May 26, 2001; brothers, John, Bob Art and Billy; and sisters, Dorthy Sahyno, Ruth Kallial and June Mitchell. Ruth was united in marriage to Winfred H. Smith on June 3, 1954 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was a registered nurse. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred H. Smith on March 12, 2004; mother and father, James and Delcie Musgrave; and two brothers, James Everett and John Musgrave. She is survived by two sons, Gary D.
