Roy F. Dobbs
Roy F. Dobbs passed from this life at his home in Vichy, Mo., Wednesday,
July 17, 2002 at the age of 69 years, 6 months and 7 days.
Roy, son of the late John L. and Bessie (Hyde) Dobbs, was born October 30,
1932 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Roy was united in marriage to Earline
(Haselden) on April 23, 1955. He served his country in the United States
Navy from 1952 to 1955, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense
Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. Roy was a member of
the New Life Christian Church, he enjoyed gardening, flowers and loved the
outdoors.
Roy is survived by his wife, Earline Dobbs of their home in Vichy, Mo., his
children, Robert Moore and wife, Diana of Sullivan, Mo., Melvin Moore of
Fort Wayne, Indiana, Deborah Delacourt and husband James, of Leasburg, Mo.,
Karen Strubank and husband John of Redford, Michigan; 17 grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister, Arilla Woodside.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002 at the
James and Gahr Chapel in St. James with Rev. James Delacourt and Rev. Dan
Morrison officiating. Music was provided by Marjorie Barton with vocal
selections by Lisa Wilson. Visitation was Friday, July 19, from 6-8 p.m.
Pallbearers were Robert Moore, Melvin Moore, Shawn Shockley, James R.
Delacourt, John Strubank and Robert Patterson. Interment was in the Lea
Cemetery, Leasburg, Mo.
All arrangements were under the direction of James and Gahr Mortuary of St.
James, Mo.
Lloyd "Cannonball" Farris
Lloyd "Cannonball" Farris of Sullivan, Mo. passed away on Thursday, July
11, 2002 at the age of 64 years.
Mr. Farris was born on September 20, 1937 at Sullivan, Mo. to Jesse Roy and
Cecil Mae Simmons Farris. He lived the majority of his life in the Sullivan
area except for a time honorably serving his country with the U.S. Air
Force. His vocation was that of a carpenter. In earlier years, Mr. Farris
worked in St. Louis out of the Carpenters Union and would work in both
residential and commercial construction.
On September 30, 1960 he was married to Sharon Jane Bouse at Sullivan and
to this union three children were born. Mr. Farris was known as a man who
never met a stranger, who was kind, who always had a warm, loving smile and
was always easy going. He also enjoyed gardening and woodcrafts and was a
member of First Baptist Church of Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Jane of the family home, two sons, Alan
Lloyd Farris and wife Diane of Steelville, Mo., Kevin Dale Farris of
Sullivan and a former daughter-in-law Cindy Larkins of Catawisa, Mo., one
daughter, Vickie McKnight and husband Rick of Bourbon, Mo., two sisters,
Viola Harmon and Florence Doyle, both of Sullivan, one brother Charles
Farris and wife Mary of Sullivan, four grandsons, Colt Steven Farris,
Michael Keith Farris, Brendan Dale Farris and Brett Allen McKnight, a
foster granddaughter, Christina Barker, a special niece, Katie McCoy, whom
he loved as his own, other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Along with is parents, a sister, Ruby Dace, a foster granddaughter, Carissa
"CJ" Barker and an infant brother, Benny Farris, preceded Mr. Farris in
death.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 from
First Baptist Church in Sullivan with Rev. Paul Gray officiating. Interment
was in Crow Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the care of the
Hassebroek Funeral Home, Sullivan, Mo.
Ewing A. Mueller
Ewing A. Mueller, age 72 years, of Jefferson City, Mo., died Friday, July
19, 2002 at the Capital Region Medical Center.
Mr. Mueller was born January 15, 1930 in Cole County, Mo., the son of
Forrest G. and Florence K. Linhardt Mueller, both deceased. He was married
on June 14, 1955 at Hernardo, Mississippi to Lucia A. Wickham who survives
at the home.
A life-long resident of the Central Missouri area, Mr. Mueller graduated
from Jefferson City High School.
Mr. Mueller was a professional engineer and a professional surveyor for
over 40 years. He was employed by the Bechtel Corporation in Oak Ridge,
Tennessee, with the Missouri Conservation Dept., with the Missouri Dept. of
Transportation, since 1967, he owned and operated Mueller Surveying and
Engineer Company.
He was a member of the Spring Garden Baptist Church; a member of the
Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors; and a member of several area
bass fishing clubs.
Other survivors include two sons, Andy Mueller of Ozark, Mo. and Mark A.
Mueller of Cuba, Mo., two brothers, Forrest E. Mueller of Mexico, Mo. and
Dale A. Mueller of Richmond, Texas; two sisters, Betty J. Pilkenton of
Needville, Texas and Dolores R. Curry of Columbia, Mo.; and three
grandchildren, one grandson preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2002 in the
Freeman Chapel with the Reverend William Wilkerson officiating.
Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Spring Garden Baptist
Church.
Theresa Alice Raymo
Theresa Alice Raymo nee Halter was born on May 17, 1922 in St. Louis, Mo.
to the union of Edward Joseph Halter and Gertrude (Hall) Halter and passed
away on July 14, 2002 at Ste. Genevieve, Mo. at the age of 80 years, 1
month and 17 days.
On July 17, 1937 Theresa was united in marriage to Raymond O. Raymo, Sr. in
St. Louis, Mo. Three sons, Edward, Raymond, Jr., and Garland, and four
daughters, Trina, Joyce, Beverly and Gina were born to this union. Raymond
preceded Theresa in death on February 18, 1982.
Theresa was also preceded in death by her parents and one daughter Joyce
Seifred.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her three sons
Edward Raymo, Raymond Raymo, Jr. and Garland Raymo; three daughters Trina
Schira, Beverly Kelley and Gina Jordan; one brother Joe Whitmire; one
sister Georgina Hunziker; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces;
nephews; other relatives and friends.
Theresa was a devoted wife, loving mother, sister, grandmother,
great-grandmother, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly
missed.
Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross
Church, Cuba, Mo. with Father James Finder officiating. Interment was in
the Holy Cross Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements were under the
direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
Phyllis Eileen Rector
Phyllis Eileen (Cook) Rector, 80, Mt. Vernon, Mo., formerly of Crawford
County passed away at 2:13 a.m., Sunday, July 14, 2002 at the home of her
son.
She was born December 14, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan to Wilis R. and Cleo
Lant Cook.
Phyllis was a U.S. Army Women's Air Corps Veteran of WWII. She moved to Mt.
Vernon from the Crawford County area in the late 1970's. Phyllis worked as
a nurse for what is now known as the Missouri Rehabilitation Center. She
was a member of the Fred A. Boswell Post #127 and of the Presbyterian
faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Oursbourn and husband Ron,
Springfield, Mo.; two sons, Tony Rector and wife Suretta, Aurora and Mike
Rector, Mt. Vernon; one brother, Jim Cook and wife Hedy of Columbus,
Georgia; seven grandchildren, Monica Goodin and husband Mark, Michele
Orchard and husband James, Melissa Trisler and husband Andy, Shawn Rector,
Jennifer Rector, Melinda Johnson and Meka Rector; seven great-grandchildren
and a host of other family members and friends. Her parents, one sister,
Helen Cook and one brother, Don Cook, preceded her in death.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002 at the Fosset
Mosher Chapel with Rev. James Lee officiating.
Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Home in care of the
funeral home.
Haskell Louis "Sonny" Richardson
Haskell Louis "Sonny" Richardson was born Wednesday, November 11, 1931 in
the Cherry Valley Community near Steelville, Mo., to the late Fred Melvin
Richardson and Margarette Gertrude Halbert Richardson and departed this
life Monday, July 15, 2002 at his home east of Steelville, Mo.
Sonny was a life long resident of Crawford County; he attended the Westover
School, graduating the eighth grade there; he worked a short time at
McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, Mo., and then worked as a farm hand and
laborer in the Steelville, Mo. area most of his life.
Sonny enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising, breaking
and riding horses, teaching others how to ride and care for a horse, he
loved to read, especially western books, watch western movies, and draw
horses.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Hershel
Richardson, and an infant brother Howard Richardson; two sisters, Agnes
Hunt, and an infant sister Faye May Richardson.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving sisters, Ada Halbert
and husband Earl of Steelville, Mo.; Ina Barber and husband Vernon of Cuba,
Mo.; his nieces Joyce Cottrell and husband Jim of Cherryville, Mo., and
Sherry Jordon and husband Gary of Viburnum, Mo., Maxine Halbert, wife of
the late Gene Halbert.
His nephews Russell Halbert and wife Judy of Steelville, Mo., Bob
Richardson and wife Jane of Steelville, Mo., many great-nieces and nephews,
other relatives and friends, all who will sadly miss and fondly remember
Haskell Louis "Sonny" Richardson.
Visitation was held 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at the
Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services was held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2002 at the Hutson
Funeral Chapel in Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Delmar B. Hutson officiating.
Deidre Eastman sang Sweet Beaulah Land, and a taped copy of Go Rest High On
The Mountain was played. Pallbearers were: John Halbert, Draton Halbert,
Lonnie Halbert, Tim Richardson, Lance Cottrell, and Joe Mabe.
Burial was in the Cherry Valley Cemetery, east of Steelville, Mo.
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in
Steelville, Mo.
Hazel Tayloe
Hazel Tayloe, 87, Florissant, Mo., passed away July 16, 2002 at St. Joseph
Hospital, St. Charles. She was born September 24, 1914, the daughter of
John Rutz and Josephine (McIntosh) Rutz.
Hazel was united in marriage to Wilbert Ervin Tayloe on November 9, 1935 in
St. Louis, Mo.
She was preceded in death her husband, her parents, two brothers, John Rutz
and Lois Ruth, and two sisters, Esther McCracken and Mary Brandenburger.
Hazel was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Bem.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her children, Carolyn Wilson and
husband Bill of Innsbrook, Mo., Bill Tayloe and wife Donna of Olathe,
Kansas and John Tayloe of St. Louis, eight grandchildren, and twelve
great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, other relatives and
friends.
Memorial services will be held July 27, 2002 at 12 noon at Gottenstroeter
Funeral Home, Owensville with Rev. Bill Winch, officiating. Interment in
Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba.
