Corey was a graduate of John F. Hodge High School in St. James, Missouri Class of 1991. In school he enjoyed sports, but his passion came from wood shop where he learned his love of turning a block of wood into a beautiful and useful object. This instilled a love for working with his hands and helping to create beautiful homes, barns and commercial buildings. He was also a free spirit who enjoyed life to the fullest. After a ski trip with his dad and his brother to Colorado, he knew what needed to be next, so after graduation he set off to explore the last Frontier in Alaska. This endeavor allowed his spirit to be free in a land of few people, vast beauty, and lots of adventure. After realizing something was missing there that he could not get, he returned home to St. James to find that he had missed his home, the love and comfort of his family and his heritage that he was so proud of. Corey again went to work in the construction field and was a much sought after trim carpenter. As we mourn for this young man who loved life, loved freedom, and loved his family “The community mourns for this young man who loved life, freedom and family and will be dearly missed.” He is survived by his parents, Dennis and Lynn Wilson of St. James, Missouri and Judy and Doug Delong of Manhattan, Kansas; son, Cody Kenney of Leadville, Colorado; brothers, Lucas Wilson of Rolla, Missouri, Matt Caputo and wife Melissa of St. Peters, Missouri, James and Jared Delong; sisters, Emele Orris and husband Keith of Pacific, Missouri, Sara Delong and Chrystal Peppiatt; other relatives and friends; and estranged spouse, Rachel Wilson and children.
