Dulany of Steelville, Missouri was born on Wednesday, April 8, 1925 to Walter Calvin and Christina Brown Dulany in Steelville, Missouri and passed away Friday, July 22, 2016 at the age of 91 years, 3 months and 14 days. James served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He married Marjorie M. Nichols on August 3, 1946 in Steelville, Missouri by Uncle Sam Roper. James worked for 41 years as the Veterans Service Officer in the Veterans Administration. He was a Scoutmaster for several years and also, served on the Steelville School Board in the past. He enjoyed fishing, gigging, gardening, cooking and raising his dahlias. James was very blessed to be a part of the Honor Guard Flight. He was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church and participated in cooking at the traditional Groundhog Suppers for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Christina Dulany; wife, Marjorie; daughter, Janet Dulany; and sister, Estella (Raymond) Farrar. Dunn of Bourbon, Missouri was born at Webster Groves, Missouri to Harry and Jennie (Baker) Comfort and passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the age of 92 years, 7 months, and 27 days. She was raised in Webster Groves as a child and attended and graduated from the former Bristol High School. On December 27, 1941 Emma married Edward Joseph Dunn and Glendale, Missouri and to this marriage seven children were born. When her husband was in the service, she moved the family to Bourbon, Missouri and has been a resident of the area since then. Emma was very active in community events and organizations and was a true Bourbon Booster. She was co-editor of the Bourbon Beacon for 11 years and a member of the Ozark Regional Library Board for some 15 years. She enjoyed the local history of Bourbon and Crawford County and authored two books on the subject. Emma was also a member of the Bourbon American Legion Auxiliary Post #81 and the Garden Club. She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid birdwatcher and of course her favorite bird was the Cardinal. Emma was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Bourbon, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Jennie Comfort; husband, Edward on April 15, 2005; son, Harry Dunn; brother, James Comfort; and sister, Helen Hill. Ruthene Krulik Ruthene Krulik of Cuba, Missouri was born August 30, 1933 at Cherryville, Missouri to Carl and Ruth (nee Edgar) Martin and on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the age of 82 years. Ruthene married Richard Louis "Dick" Krulik on December 27, 1953 at the First Baptist Church of Ferguson, Missouri and to this union three children were born. Ruthene taught school for one year in Leasburg, Missouri before getting married and worked as a telephone solicitor for a year after getting married. But then she got the greatest job of all, she became a stay at home mom and spent the next many years taking care of her home and family. She has been a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church since April 19, 1987 and was a former member of the Suzannah's. Ruthene loved to travel and she spent hours cross stitching and shopping. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal's baseball fan and they spent every winter in Texas for 18 years before her health began to decline. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ruth Martin; one brother, Ivan and wife Mary Martin; one sister, Donna Murray; and two brothers-in-law, Donald Krulik and Robert McFarland. Jerry proudly served his Country in the United States Navy during WWII. He married Elizabeth A. (Betty) Bieser. Jerry enjoyed dancing, listening to all types of music, Notre Dame football (never missed a game), and cutting the grass. Jerry and Betty moved to St. James, Missouri in 1980, following his 30-year career with the United States Postal Service. In 2014 Jerry moved back to St. Louis to be close to his children and grandchildren. Homer Leo Littrell Homer Leo Littrell Sr. of Cuba, Missouri was born December 30, 1935 at Jonesburg, Missouri to Hamen and Rosetta (nee Luttrell) Littrell and passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the age of 80 years. Homer proudly served in the United States Army from June 19, 1956 until June 11, 1959. He earned the Expert Rifle and Expert Pistol medals. Homer retired from MoDOT as a foreman after 33 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pranks on his family and playing the lottery especially scratch offs. Homer truly enjoyed the game of baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Billy Gene Mayfield Billy Gene Mayfield of Rolla, Missouri was born on April 24, 1947 to Carl and Trula Mayfield (Seabaugh) in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at the age of 69 years. Bill was raised in Sedgewickville, Missouri. Bill attended Patton, Missouri High School and upon graduation enlisted in the U.S. Air Force serving four years with one year in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he enrolled at SEMO State University where he graduated with a degree in Secondary Education. Bill was in the last graduating class that was awarded lifetime teaching degrees. Due to an opportunity that presented itself, he entered the United States Postal Service in 1973 where he spent 33 years. During his postal career, Bill was appointed to several positions. Some included Station Manager in Florissant, Missouri, Officer in Charge in Jefferson City, Missouri, Postmaster in Farmington, Missouri, Postmaster in Flat River, Missouri and Postmaster in Rolla, Missouri. He retired as Postmaster in Rolla, Missouri in 2007. Bill was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and, as a kid, spent many an evening with a transistor radio pressed to his ear while lying outside in the porch glider. He was an avid sports memorabilia collector and could tell you with one look what the value of something was. Bill and Florene got the opportunity to travel and see many beautiful places in the United States before heath issues arose. Bill also believed strongly in "whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish." Bill was baptized at an early age and believed in eternal life in heaven. He was preceded in death by his mother, Trula Mayfield; by one brother, Donald Kent Mayfield. On March 22, 1951 in Piggott, Arkansas, he married Beverly Joyce Whiteside and to this union five children were born. Sam served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954. He played minor league baseball for the Cardinals many years ago and was roommates with Earl Weaver, who later became the manager of the Baltimore Orioles. Sam was employed at Colonial Baking Co. in St. Louis and retired in 1992 after 30 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Steelville, Missouri. Sam enjoyed playing Blitz, buying scratch-off cards, playing horseshoes and going down the river with Buzz. Francis Arthur "Frank" Nowland Jr. Francis Arthur "Frank" Nowland Jr. of Leasburg, Missouri was born December 19, 1953 at Fairbanks, Alaska to Francis A. and Betty (nee Mann) Nowland Sr. and passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the age of 62 years. Frank was a truck driver in his younger years. He worked for the City of Cuba in the Grounds Department and then the Cuba Police Department as Animal Control before his health began changing and he had to retire. Frank and Gwen attended the Cuba Christian Church for several years. Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, old model cars and sleeping in the deer stand. Frank watched old Army movies, old western movies and you could find him every morning at the Truck Stop enjoying coffee. Ormsbee of Athens, Georgia was born on May 4, 1932 in Plato, Missouri to Reverend Claude and Ina Posten Ormsbee and passed away on July 23, 2016 at the age of 84 years. He was a graduate of California Baptist College, New Orleans Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the Presbyterian School of Christian Education. Reverend Ormsbee preached for 68 years, pastoring in Missouri, California and Georgia and served 20 years as an active duty US Army Chaplain. While serving in the US military, Reverend Ormsbee help start several Baptist churches in pioneer areas of Nebraska and New Jersey. During his distinguished military career he served in Korea, Nebraska, Panama, Vietnam, Germany, Kentucky, New York, Virginia, and New Jersey. He served with various army divisions including the 1st Division, the 82nd and 101st Airborne and the Americal Division. He received the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal and was a four-time recipient of the Bronze Star. After his military career, he faithfully pastored and served churches in Steelville, Missouri, Esther, Missouri and Glade Baptist Church in Oglethorpe County, where he served for over 15 years. Upon retirement he and Betty remained active in East Athens Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School director and chairman of the deacons. He also served as moderator of the Sarepta Baptist Association and he had a passion for International Friends. He is survived by his wife Betty McDowell Ormsbee of 62 years of Athens, Georgia; brother, Marlin Ormsbee and his wife Bettie of San Diego, California; children, Dr. Lindell and Susan Ormsbee of Lexington, Kentucky, Reverend Don and Elizabeth Ormsbee of Gainesville, Georgia and Georgie and George Bullock of Colbert, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Annie Snow, Jordan Jansen, Kathryn Ormsbee, Jackson Ormsbee, Aubrey Bullock, Kidron Bullock and Jailie Bullock. She was a member of the Center Point Church. Her hobbies were cross stitching, sewing, traveling and working in her roses. She enjoyed having Friday lunch dates with her sisters. Genevieve Genevieve Loretta Southard of St. James, Missouri was born on December 1, 1928 to Arthur and Ima Parrish Moreland and passed away on July 20, 2016 at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 19 days. She was united in marriage to Odell E. Southard in Salem, Arkansas. Genevieve was a life long resident of the Vichy community and Broadway Baptist Church. She worked at the Missouri Veteran's Home in St. James, Missouri for 15 years as a cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ima Parrish Moreland; husband, Odell E. Southard on January 22, 1978; one brother, Roy Moreland on April 10, 2003; and one sister, Marie Chambers. She is survived by her son, David Southard and wife Diana of St. James, Missouri; three grandchildren, Arthur, Ashley and Ginger; three great grandchildren, Raiden, Liam, and Aubree; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri. Donald Lee Taylor Donald Lee Taylor was born January 24, 1953 in Salem, Missouri to Lovell and Gladys (Hagan) Taylor and passed away July 19, 2016 at the age of 63 years. On December 2, 1978, Donald Taylor married Debra Booker. Donald enjoyed fishing, hunting, 4 wheelers, but his passion was witnessing to people about the Lord. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Salem, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lovell and Gladys Taylor; brother, Eugene Taylor; grandchildren, Angel, Jamie, Angelica Love, Layne Desiree, and Grace Elizabeth Gresham; mother-in-law, Jessie Booker; brothers-in-law, James Pitts, Roy Soper, Larry Booker; and sister-in-law, Patricia Booker. Arrangements under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri Virginia Dale Umfress Virginia Dale Umfress (nee Ledbetter) of Bourbon, Missouri was born on August 25, 1929 in Solgohachia, Arkansas to William Miles and Hazel Beatrice (Tice) Ledbetter and passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the age of 86 years. Virginia married William RB Umfress on February 19, 1944 in Rector, Arkansas and to this union seven children were born. Virginia worked several years as a CNA at Sullivan Hospital and at Redwood Manor. She was baptized and professed her faith in Christ most of her adult life. She enjoyed reading her Bible, attending church, crocheting, puzzles and listening to gospel music. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Hazel Ledbetter; husband, William RB Umfress; two infant daughters; one sister, Heneritta Rhoades; one brother, Eddy Lee Ledbetter; and three grandsons, Jimmy Umfress, Wm. Daniel Clark and David Salie. She is survived by her five children, Donald Umfress of Leasburg, Missouri, James and wife Nancy Umfress of Cuba, Missouri, Peggy and husband James Salie of Columbus, Georgia, Betty and husband Gary Monda of Sullivan, Missouri and Paul Umfress of Sullivan, Missouri; one brother, Charles and wife Vivian Ledbetter of Leasburg, Missouri; 10 grandchildren Donald II, Derick and Brock Umfress, Travis and Robbie Umfress, Kimberly Galloway and Brian Salie, Scot Monda, Natasha McIntosh and Kevin Umfress; numerous great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 22, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
