John Thomas Banta, Sr.
John Thomas Banta, Sr. of Phoenix, Arizona was born in Ironton,
Missouri to Marshall and Beulah (Hudson) Banta and passed away
July 28, 2013 at the age of 67 years.
He moved to Arizona in 1972 where he had his law firm, John Thomas
Banta, P.C. He is survived by his wife, Judy A. Banta; daughter,
Susan E. Banta (David Sberna); son, John T. Banta, Jr. (Josette);
brothers, Richard Korte (Marilyn) and Thomas Banta; two grand-
children, James and Julia Banta. Visitation from 1-3 p.m. Friday,
August 2, 2013. Funeral service at 3 p.m. Friday, August 2, 2013
at the Hansen Chapel, Phoenix, Arizona. Arrangements under the
direction of the Hansen Mortuary, Phoenix, Arizona.
Lloyd S. Cuneio
Lloyd Stewart Cuneio of Sullivan, Missouri was born on
August 2, 1927 at Elmont, Missouri, to Emery Stewart and Velma
Lucille (Tyree) Cuneio and passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at
the age of 85 years, 11 months and 21 days
Lloyd lived in Sullivan, Missouri all of his life except when
serving his country in the United States Army Air Corp from 1945
to 1947 in Japan. He earned the Victory Metal and Army of Occupation
Metal.
Lloyd was employed by Paramount Headwear for 12 years, Meramec
Mining for 15 years and his last employment was with the Sullivan
City Street Department.
He was united in marriage to Helen Nethington on October 27, 1962
in Miami, Oklahoma.Lloyd enjoyed quail hunting, fishing and cutting
wood with his twin brother Floyd, with whom he had a special bond
and watching Cardinal Baseball. He was a long time member of First
Assembly of God and served as an usher and greeter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emery and Velma Cuneio;
his wife, Helen on May 15, 2006; two brothers, Floyd and Russell
Cuneio; two sisters, Virginia Allen and Frances Landing and twin
grandchildren.
He is survived by one son, Bill Cuneio and wife Marilyn of Washington,
Missouri; one daughter, Janice Landwehr and husband Melvin of
Sullivan, Missouri; two sisters, Verna Carter of Sullivan, Missouri
and Anna Belle Bailey and husband George of Bourbon, Missouri; eight
grandchildren, Greg, Amy, Steven, Timothy, Matthew, Joy, Faith and
Trafton; 23 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two
sisters-in-law, Jean Cuneio and Judy Graham both of Sullivan,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services with full military honors were conducted 12:00 p.m.
Friday, July 26, 2013 from First Assembly of God in Sullivan, Missouri
with Pastor Kyle Phillips and Captain Steven Cuneio officiating.
Interment was in the Oddfellows Cemetery.

Missouri.
Ollie Mae Cunningham
Ollie Mae Cunningham of Steelville, Missouri, formerly of Bourbon,
Missouri was born August 5, 1924 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to
Delloes Mathew and Nannie Lee Denton Kreis and passed away Monday,
July 15, 2013 at Gibbs Care Center at the age of 88 years, 11 months
and 10 days.
On March 25, 1944 in Farmington, Missouri, she was united in marriage
to Glenn E. Cunningham.
At a young age of eight and influenced by her father who was a
minister, Ollie accepted Christ. She was very involved in many church
activities, serving as a camp director at the South MO Baptist Camp
in Van Buren, teaching Bible school for many years and singing in a
quartet with her husband, sister and brother in-law. Ollie was a
member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri.
Before she married she was a teacher for a few years. She enjoyed
working at a florist in Sullivan for several years. In her spare time,
she loved to quilt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ddlloes and Nannie Kreis;
her husband, Glenn Cunningham in 1980; son, Gary Cunningham; brother,
William L. Kreis and wife Doris; sister, Antionette Williams and
husband Jesse; and brother-in-law, Carl Collar.
She is survived by her son, Darrell Cunningham and wife Katherine of
Bourbon, Missouri; daughter, Carolanna Massey and husband Paul of
Wentzville, Missouri; daughter-in-law, Gay Cunningham of St. George,
Utah; brother, John Kreis and wife Dorothy of Plumbersville,
Arkansas; sister, Virginia Collar of Elizabeth, Arkansas; three
sisters-in-law, Ruby Short of Park Hills, Missouri, Helen Staab of
St. Genevieve, Missouri and Isabel Jackson of Waterloo, Illinois;
10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; five great great
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the Calvary
Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at the
Calvary Baptist Church in Bourbon, Missouri with Bro. Ed Carter
officiating. Special music of “No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus”
was sung by Sherry Horn, “I Can’t Even Walk” was sung by Danny King
and “What a Day That Will Be” was sung by Norman Williams and Paul
Massey. The closing hymn of “It is Well With my Soul” was sung by the
congregation accompanied on piano by Gail Williams.
Committal prayer and interment were in the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon,
Missouri.
Casket bearers were Matthew Jones, Robbie Jones, Brian Massey, Terry
Jones, Neal McAmis, Brad Massey and Christopher Cunningham.

Johnny V.E. Ellis
Johnny V.E. Ellis of St. James, Missouri was born on
December 26, 1977 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Johnny R. and Janet K.
(Lewis) Ellis and passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the age of
35 years. On July 20, 2002, he married Tracy (Doria) Ellis.
Johnny loved hunting and fishing and was an outdoors man. He also
enjoyed baseball, softball and bull riding but he loved his family
most of all.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James and Pearl
Ellis; his maternal grandparents, Ova and Reba Lewis; a
brother-in-law, Joseph Doria; and a nephew, Triston Ellis.
He is survived by his wife, Tracy Ellis of St. James, Missouri; his
parents, Johnny and Janet Ellis of St. James, Missouri; three children,
Conor Ellis, Ashlyn Ellis and Kamryn Ellis, all of St. James, Missouri;
one brother, Jeremy Ellis and wife Dannah of Rolla, Missouri; one
sister-in-law, Brandi Bridges of Willow Springs, Missouri; his
father-in-law and mother-in-law; David and Bonnie Doria of Drury,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the
Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri.
A funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013
at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla, Missouri.

Mike Ellison
Mike Ellison of Sullivan, Missouri was born on April 3, 1945 at
Sullivan, Missouri to Chester and Gladyne (Paul) Ellison and passed
away Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Missouri Veterans Home, Saint
James, Missouri at the age of 68 years, 3 months and 7 days.
He was a graduate of Sullivan, High School and then attended
Washington University.
Mike was drafted into the U.S. Army while in college. He honorably
served his country during the Vietnam War and was stationed for a
time in Korea.
After his discharge, Mike returned back to school and earned a
Bachelors Degree in Finance and Economics. While in college he was
employed at Ford Motor Company and later became a Logistics Manager.
He retired from Ford in 1998.
On April 22, 1967 he was united in marriage to Jeanne Schmidt at
St. Charles, Missouri and to this union four children were born of
which a son, Jeffery preceded him in death.
Mike greatly enjoyed flying and at one time he owned an airplane.
He also found pleasure in radio controlled airplanes and boats,
computers and the outdoors.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne of the family home; twin sons,
Matt Ellison and wife Lindsay of St. Peters, Missouri and Brian
Ellison and wife Nicole of Peach Tree City, Georgia; one daughter,
Crista Hanrahan and husband Scott of Arnold, Missouri; two sisters,
Mary Lou Hubble and husband Jerry of Bourbon, Missouri and Ann
Wessler and husband Bob of Sullivan; seven grandchildren; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 12, 2013 from 1 p.m. until time
of service at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial services were held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 2 p.m.,
from the chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri.

Rodney Earl Lough
Rodney Earl Lough of St. James was born on July 3, 1951 in Rolla,
Missouri to Earl William and Geraldine (Davis) Lough and passed away
at his home on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the age of 62 years and
18 days.
Rodney was united in marriage to Donna Sue Shackleford on
June 1, 1979 in Salem, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his father, Earl William Lough and one
step daughter, Janell Lambert.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Lough of St. James, Missouri;
two sons, Andrew Lough and wife Sybill of St. James, Missouri and
Daniel Lough and wife Heather of Kansas City, Missouri; one daughter,
Kayleigh Lough of Kansas City, Missouri; mother, Geraldine (Davis)
Lough of St. James, Missouri; step-daughter, Rhonda Green of Rolla,
Missouri; one sister, Dr. Melinda Rush and husband Phillip of Jackson,
Mississippi; seven grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at
the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2013
at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Don Carson
officiating.
Pallbearers were Andrew Lough, Daniel Lough, Phillip Rush, Joe
Ridenhower, Deue Robertson and Scott Carroll.
Burial was in the St. James Cemetery in St. James, Missouri.

Virgil Champ Martin
Virgil Champ Martin of Cedar Hill, Missouri was born to Champ R.
and Augusta V. (Atkinson) Martin on November 27, 1942 in Steelville,
Missouri and passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at St. Clare Health
Center in Fenton, Missouri at the age of 70 years.
Virgil worked for many years as a maintenance repairman, finishing
his career at Madison Steel Company in Madison, Illinois. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Champ and Augusta Martin;
wife, Mary F. (Laster) Martin; four brothers, Haskel “Hack” Martin,
Delmar “Red” Martin, Charlie Martin and Joseph Martin; two sisters,
Margie Nagel and Wanda Schroeder.
He is survived by his son, Kevin and wife Amy Martin of Festus,
Missouri; three granddaughters, Emily Michelle, Lindsey Nicole and
Mandy Lynn Martin; two sisters, Emma Jean Carter of Steelville,
Missouri and Billie Jean and husband Jim Chapman of Cuba, Missouri;
three sisters-in-law, Rosetta Marie Christian of St. Louis, Missouri,
Ida Ellen Hunsperger of Warrenton, Missouri and Ruby Wyatt of Troy,
Illinois; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at the
Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.

Interment followed at the Schwieder Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.

Dolphus C. Prewett
Dolphus C. Prewett of Clinton, Missouri, was born in Stickney,
Missouri on July 17, 1921 to Andrew C. and Mittie (Maxwell) Prewett
and passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the age of 92 years.
On April 12, 1941 he married Alice (McMinn).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Mittie Prewett;
his wife, Alice on December 5, 2012; two brothers, Melvin and Thomas
Prewett; one sister, Geneva Prewett; and one grandson-in-law, Chris
Swope.
He is survived by three children, Roger C. Prewett and wife Lucille,
of Clinton, Missouri, Andrew Prewett and friend, Necia Hunt of
Lincoln, Missouri and Carolyn S. Blackwell and husband Charles, of
Cuba, Missouri; four grandchildren, Steven Prewett and wife Barbara
of Warrensburg, Missouri, Kim Swope, of Clinton, Missouri, Chris
Blackwell and wife Becky of Lebanon, Missouri and Dwayne Blackwell
and wife Amy of Bourbon, Missouri; great grandchildren, Dalton and

Elder Berlie Gene Turnbough
Elder Berlie Gene Turnbough of Steelville, Missouri was born
October 25, 1935 in Rolla, Missouri to Delmar Arbie and Muriel
Agnes Willhite Turnbough and passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at
the age of 77 years, 8 months and 28 days.
On July 25, 1954 in Courtois, Missouri, he was united in marriage
to Elsie Laramore and to this union three children were born.
Elder Turnbough worked in St. Louis for several years as a Journeyman
Plumber and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union
# 562 and retired in 1994. He became ordained in 1977 and was the
pastor of the United Baptist Church in Steelville from 1977 until
2011. He enjoyed being in the quiet outdoors and loving to laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar and Muriel Turnbough;
sister, Beverly Hadley and husband Clyde; and brother-in-law, Buell
Volner.
He is survived by his wife of almost 59 years, Elsie Turnbough of
Steelville, Missouri; his children, Neva Hill and husband Mike of
O’Fallon, Missouri, Rodney Turnbough and wife Lisa of Columbia,
Maryland and Ivy Reeves and husband John of Steelville, Missouri;
one sister, Betty Anderson and husband Thomas of St. Johnsbury,
Vermont; sisters-in-law, Erma Jackson and husband Bill of Black,
Missouri and Betty Volner of Springfield, Missouri; brother-in-law,
Tommy Laramore and wife Karen of Rolla, Missouri; eight grand-
children, Matthew Turnbough and wife Jaime, Mark Turnbough and
wife Jen, Holly Shoults and husband Jeff, Jessica Reeves, Samantha
Reeves, Jennifer Reidler and husband Brian, Bobbi Halbert and

Marvin Richards officiating. Special memories were shared by Mike
Hill, Lindell Sikes and Jim Turnbough. Special music of “If You
Knew” and “Further Along” was sung by Dawn, Chris and Felicia
Girard accompanied on piano by Dawn Girard. Other music of “Amazing
Grace” and “I Will Rise” was also played.

Ricky R. Willis
Ricky R. Willis of St. James, Missouri was born June 28, 1960 in
St. Louis, Missouri to James and Betty (Yates) Willis and passed
away Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the St. Clare Hospital in Fenton,
Missouri at the age of 53 years and 24 days.
Ricky was the absolute apple of his mother’s eye and although he
was born with a crippling form of cerebral palsy, Ricky could
certainly light up a room, he always had a smile on his face and
laughter in his voice. He loved his family and spending time with
family and friends was his favorite pastime, besides of course,
fishing. He loved to fish and if you brought it up you had better
be ready to go. Ricky blessed so many with his great attitude, big
heart and beautiful smile.
After the death of his mother in November of 2012, Ricky was blessed
again to have his brother Ronnie take over his care and stay in the
home that he had always shared with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Betty Willis and
a brother, Dennis Willis.
He is survived by his brother, Ronnie of the home; sister, Shawnan
Widman and husband John of High Ridge, Missouri; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was held at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr
Mortuary from 10 a.m. until service time.
Funeral service was held at noon on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at the
St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Stephen
Brubaker officiating.
Interment was in the Corinth Cemetery in Dent County.
Pallbearers were Larry Cooper, Ryan Willis, Justin Willis, Shane
Chott, Greg Chott and Danny Yates.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark Cooper and Kevin Ritz.
