Leon Anderson of Steelville, Missouri was born on Sunday, March 9, 1941 in
Summersville, Missouri to Roy Lee Anderson and Marie Vance Anderson and
passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the age of 68 years, 4 months,
and 16 days.
Leon married Barbara Fay Etheridge on July 1, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri
and to this union three children were born.
Leon was a truck driver in the trucking industry for 30 years and was a
member of the Teamsters Local #600. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Marie Anderson; infant
brother, Stanley Anderson; brother, Vernon (Charlotte) Anderson;
sister-in-law, Lois Reed; brothers-in-law, Gene and Ray Etheridge.
He is survived by his wife Fay Anderson of Steelville, Missouri; children,
Kevin Leon (Tammy) Anderson of Festus, Missouri, Teri (Robert) Zeis of
St. Louis, Missouri and Chris Anderson of Salem, Missouri; grandchildren,
Jason (Bridgett) Zeis, Amanda Zeis, Ashley Anderson, Kevin Anderson II, and
Dakota Anderson; brother, Ivan (Phyllis) Anderson of Bunker, Missouri;
sister, Karen Adamick of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Wanda Armstrong
of Chino, California, Martha (Joe) Townsend of Rockledge, Florida, Marlene

Steelville, Missouri and funeral service was Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at
10 a.m. with Rev. Matt Cook officiating.
Burial at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Salem, Missouri.

Glenda Faye Arnold
Glenda Faye Arnold of St. James, Missouri was born on January 7, 1952 in
St. Louis, Missouri, to Elmer Blythe and Georgia (Lachance) Blythe and
passed away July 22, 2009 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center at
the age of 57 years, 6 months and 15 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Georgia (Lachance)
Blythe; her husband, Joseph Arnold; sister, Margaret Boyer and brother,
Virgil Blythe.
She is survived by two daughters. Wynona Bryant and husband Bruce of
Steelville, Missouri and Barbara Farris and husband Tim of Steelville,
Missouri; three sons, Joseph Arnold and wife Gina of Cherryville, Missouri,
Glen Arnold of Steelville, Missouri and Jimmy Kriegbaum of Steelville,
Missouri; sister, Pat Reed of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; brother, Wayne
Politte and wife Gale of Bismarck, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; one great
grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, July 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the
DeClue Family Chapel with Pastor Lee officiating.
Pallbearers were James Johnson, John “Dough Boy” Gansner, Tim Farris, Eric
Haegele, Bruce Bryant, Mike Rayoum, Daniel Kumkueman, Justin Conner, Neil
Gaither and Denver Brooks.
Interment and final prayers were held at New Diggins Cemetery.

Raymond E. Ederati
Raymond E. Ederati of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday, August 19, 1925
in Knobview, Missouri, to Sam Ederati and Julia Ramori Ederati and passed
away on Saturday, August 1, 2009 in St. James, Missouri at the age of 83
years, 11 months, and 13 days.
He married Mary Harmon nee Wagner on October 14, 1980 in Steelville,
Missouri.
Raymond worked on highway construction, then later owned and operated The
Rock Fair Restaurant for nearly 20 years. In his later years he operated
Ray’s Car Care at Art Hughes Used Car Business in Cuba, Missouri. His
hobbies were gardening and working in the yard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Julia Ederati; infant
sister; step dad, Arthur Paule; wife Gladys Ederati; and step-sister,
Audrey McClelland.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; sons, Duane (Linda) Ederati
of Columbia, Missouri and David (Laura) Ederati of Pequea, Pennsylvania;
grandchildren, Anthony Ederati of Naples, Florida, Eric Ederati of Pequea,
Pennyslvania, and Krista Phipps of Columbia, Missouri; sister-in-law,
Carol Echols of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

Lucy Pearl McCarter Evans
Lucy Pearl McCarter Evans was born November 9, 1927 at Bunker, Missouri to
Roy and Lola Pearl Warren McCarter and passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009.
Lucy married John Evans on February 20, 1948 and they had just celebrated
55 years together when John passed away.
Lucy loved to tell about accepting Jesus as her personal savior at the age
of 16. She was long-time member of Southside Baptist Church. She shared
stories of serving homemade ice cream to the kids at Vacation Bible School
and would laugh about how much fun she had doing it and how much fun the
kids had eating it.
Lucy attended services at First Baptist Church in Steelville, Missouri then
later just attended the services at Gibbs Care Center where she lived for
the past six years.
Her favorite stories were of her days growing up and working on the family
farm in Bunker, shocking hay, riding horses and doing laundry at the CC
Camp. She loved to cook, clean, bake, embroider, quilt and do many crafts.
She enjoyed road trips, sightseeing and shows of Branson.
She is survived by sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; other
relatives and friends.
Robert Marvin “Bob” Fishwick
Robert Marvin “Bob” Fishwick of Steelville, Missouri, was born
September 3, 1909 to William and Margaret (Bish) Fishwick in Cuba, Missouri
and passed away July 24, 2009 at Gibbs Care Center in Steelville, Missouri
at the age of 99 years.
Bob was united in marriage to Grace Elizabeth Tooker on October 2, 1934 in
Webster Groves, Missouri. His wife preceded him in death on June 16, 2003.
Bob was a long time member of the Presbyterian Church of Steelville, the
Ozark Trail Blazers Club and the Masonic Lodge.
He retired from International Shoe Company as supervisor after 30 years.
Bob was known for his many talents of making hand-woven baskets from trees
he cut and then made into strips, making pottery, furniture and numerous
wood carvings. He had taught basket weaving in War Eagle, Arkansas and at
the Iron Works Day in St. James, Missouri. He enjoyed gardening and raising
cattle. He and his wife, Elizabeth loved to travel to not only places in the
U.S., but in other countries.
He will be long remembered for his sense of humor and pitching pennies at
Schwieder Ford with Ed and seeing who would buy the nickel coke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Fishwick; his
wife, Elizabeth; one brother, Ralph Fishwick and one sister, Lucia Brayfield.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol Giorda and husband Dean Weisner of
Austin, Texas; one son, Robert “Butch” Fishwick and wife Jean of Steelville,
Missouri; three grandchildren, Carol Fishwick and Rebecca Fish of Tulsa,
Oklahoma and Marie Giorda of New York, New York; one great granddaughter,
Alicia Noah of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Brown of Lincoln,
Nebraska and Virginia Crank of Bloomington, Indiana; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Britton-
Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri. Masonic services by the
Lebanon Lodge #77 of Steelville were at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the
Steelville Presbyterian Church in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Alan Miles
officiating.
Rob Bowness gave the scripture reading. Special music of “The Lord’s Prayer”
and “Hymn of Promise” was sang by Jill McWilliams and accompanied by Carol
Giorda on the organ.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, Missouri.
Casket bearers were Mike Hayden, Tom Carr, Dr. Ken Colbert, Kem Schwieder,
Ike Lovan and Allan Brown. Honorary casket bearers were Bud Viehman and
George Adams.

Doyle E. “Pete” Heuser
Doyle E. “Pete” Heuser of St. James, Missouri, was born June 24, 1943 at
Salem, Missouri, to John Edward and Amelia (Sewell) Heuser and passed away
Thursday July 30, 2009 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in
Rolla, Missouri at the age of 66 years.
Pete loved his family. He worked as a dump truck driver for St. James Ready
Mix. He loved to be in the woods and cut cedar with his son.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine M. (Turner) Heuser of 24 years; son,
Billy Eugene Heuser of St. James, Missouri; step-son, Donald Aaron Mitchell
of California, Missouri; daughter, Patricia Parson and husband Doug of
St. James. Missouri; brothers, William Heuser and wife Josie of the state
of California, John Heuser Jr. and friend Irene of St. James, Missouri; half
brother, Bob Rosenbaum and wife Margaret of Arkansas; half sister, Henritta

Ernie Jones of Cedar Hill, Missouri, formerly of Cherryville, Missouri, was
born in Cherryville, Missouri on Friday, May 25, 1934 to Arthur A. Jones and
Eura Sara Oxendine Jones and passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the
age of 75 years and 2 months.
Ernie retired from Eureka Sand & Gravel Company where he worked several years
as a truck driver. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of
Teamsters Local #682. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Eura Jones; sons, Mitchell
and Kevin Jones; sisters, Daphane Janus and Dolly England and brother, Arthur
‘Chick’ Jones.
He is survived by his children, Rhonda Gail (Dan) Frisch of Springfield,

Nellie Lorraine Land
Nellie Lorraine Land was born March 18, 1938 in Leavenworth, Kansas to Hays
and Emma (Blockberger) Everett and passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the
Cuba Manor, Cuba, Missouri at the age of 71 years.
She is survived by two sons, Ernest Ryan and wife Angel of Steelville,
Missouri and George Ryan and wife Kimberly of Jonesburg, Missouri; one
daughter, Carol Werbe and husband Donald of Kansas City, Missouri; 17
grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
There was a private family burial.

Rick Steven Merenghi
Rick Steven Merenghi, of St. James, Missouri, was born in Maryville, Missouri
to Frank and Willa Merenghi and passed away Saturday, August 1, 2009 at the
age of 50 years.
He attended Maryville High School. After graduation he earned certifications
in electricity and electronics at the Maryville Vocational Technical
Institute.
He married Janice Wells in May 1981.
Rick and Janice settled in the Rolla/St. James area in 1985. He was the
Director of Facilities Maintenance at Mercy Medical Group (now St. John’s
Clinic) for 10 years before joining Brewer Science, Inc. At the time of his
death, he was the Plant Engineering Manager for Brewer Science, where he was
highly esteemed and admired. He received an engineering excellence award and
special public recognition from a St. Louis engineering firm for his
outstanding work on and contributions to Brewer Science’s new facility.
Rick was a self made man. His career path took him from an appliance and TV
service technician, to a carpenter on custom home construction and remodeling,
to health care equipment and facility maintenance to engineering management
in plant operations. He was an accomplished, meticulous craftsman. He enjoyed
woodworking and tinkering in his workshop. Classic car restoration has been
a life long hobby for him.
He is survived by his wife Janice; two children, Mindy and Steven; his parents,
Frank and Willa Merenghi of Rolla, Missouri; mother-in-law, Margaret Wells of
Maryville, Missouri; sisters, Marcie Giarrizzo of San Francisco, California,
Francine Merenghi (and Jim Sowers) of Rolla, Missouri, Marla Merenghi (and Al
DelRosario) of Weldon Springs, Missouri; brother, Vinnie Merenghi (Ann) of
Republic, Missouri; brother-in-law, John Wells (Eve) of Liberty, Missouri;

A Celebration of Life will be held at Maramec Spring Park (Pavilion C) on

Alpino F. “Fred” Prebianca
Alpino F. “Fred” Prebianca of Coal City, Illinois was born May 18, 1920 in
Saint James, Missouri to Emil and Albina Tretternero-Prebianca and passed
away on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in Manteno,
Illinois at the age of 89 years.
He was raised and educated in Saint James, Missouri and has been a resident
of Coal City since 1983.
Fred married Dora Flaim and she preceded him in death on May 20, 2001.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp and served during World
War II, prior to being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Fred was a
member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Coal
City, Illinois, as well as the Army Air Force Reunion.
He was known for his love of fishing, hunting, gardening, photography and
building birdhouses. Fred was also part of a very musical family and brought
his children up to sing, play the guitar and dance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Albina Prebianca; wife,
Dora; four brothers, Eugene, Raymond, George, Jim and one sister, Romilda
Trettenero.
He is survived by two children, Diane West of Long Beach, California and
Fred W. Prebianca of Goose Lake, Illinois; three grandchildren, Anthony
(Emani) West-Bey of Antioch, California, Freddie Ray Prebianca of Goose
Lake, Illinois and Tammy (Chuck) Rose of Rockford, Illinois; 13 great
grandchildren; one sister, Rose Gregonis of Oregon; three sisters-in-law,
Ina Mae Prebianca, Donna Prebianca and Lucille Davis; other relatives and

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, August 3, 2009 at 9:30 a.m.
in Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, Coal City,
Illinois with Reverend Robert Noesen officiating.
A memorial luncheon immediately followed the Mass at Whistle Stop Café in
Diamond, and interment with full military honors in Abraham Lincoln National
Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois at 2 p.m.

Beulah Lee Rose Rutz of Owensville, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri,
on June 15, 1923 to William and Lydia (Pietraschke) Enke and passed away
Saturday, August 1, 2009 at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur,
Missouri at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 16 days.
On May 21, 1949 in Owensville she was united in marriage to Armin Rutz.
She was a member of the Owensville Christian Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary
and St. John’s quilters at Bem, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband, Armin; children, Alan Rutz and wife Pat of
Jefferson City, Missouri, William “Bill” Rutz and wife Darlene of
Herculaneum, Missouri, Norris Rutz and wife Cindy of Jefferson City,

Pauletta “Plutie” June Scott
Pauletta “Plutie” June Scott was born September 13, 1927 in Bernie, Missouri
to Arvle and Thomazine (Lee) Brown, and passed away July 28, 2009 in
St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 81 years.
Pauletta was united in marriage to Ira Victor Scott on July 27, 1945, in
Kansas City, Missouri, and to this union two children were born.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Rolla, and served as both
the president and secretary of the Women’s Ministry there for 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arvel and Thomazine Brown; brother,
Bill Brown and sister, Arva Lee Kerr.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years Ira Victor Scott of St. James,
Missouri; son, Robert D. Scott and wife Hatice of Rolla, Missouri; daughter,
Teresa J. Woelfel and husband Tom of Jerseyville, Illinois; sister, Yvonne
Moore and husband Joe of Kissimmee, Florida; brother, Delano Brown and wife
Sadie of Whitehouse, Tennessee; sister, Mary Sue Diamond and husband Howard

William H. Usery
William “Bill” Usery of Cuba was born Friday, February 29, 1924 at Pueblo,
Colorado to the union of Harold and Edith (nee Woods) Usery and passed away
Sunday, August 2, 2009 at St. James at the age of 85 years, 5 months and
2 days.
Bill was raised in Sullivan, Missouri and graduated from Sullivan High
School.
He then joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served our country
from November 1943 to May 1946.
Bill was united in marriage on April 4, 1954 to Nina Dishman and to this
union four children were born.
In 1963 Bill and family moved from Florida to Fenton and in the 70’s they
moved to Cuba. They have been members of the Delhi Baptist Church of Cuba
for the last 38 years.
Bill retired April 30, 1986 from Yellow Freight in St. Louis were he drove
a truck for 22 years making three trips a week from St. Louis to Baxter
Springs and back to St. Louis.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, traveling, reading, camping, trips to
Florida to stay on the beach, watching any Western show or movie and of
course ESPN TV Cardinal Baseball and other sports. He exercised by walking
two miles every day and lifting weights.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Edith Usery;
sister-in-law, Katherine Usery; brother-in-law, Bill Baggett; other
relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Usery of the home; two daughters, Nancy and
husband John Hoyle of Rockford, Illinois, Connie and husband Tom McPherson
of Cuba, Missouri; two sons, Thomas and Timothy Usery of St. Clair,
Missouri; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Don Usery
of Fenton, Missouri; sisters, Georgia Baggett of St. Charles, Missouri and

David Anthony Zachritz
David Anthony Zachritz of Steelville, Missouri was born December 3, 1961 to
H. Sheldon and Wilma J. (Coffman) Zachritz and passed away on Sunday,
July 26, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in St. James, Missouri, at the age
of 47 years.
In 1980 he graduated from Fort Zumwalt in O’Fallon and was the president of
the National Honor Society. He held a B.A. in Environmental Science from
Drake University in Iowa.
He worked as culinary chef in Branson, Springfield and other locations.
David was a member of the order of DeMolay, Masonic Lodge of Wentzville,
Missouri, a member of the Shrine and a Shrine clown. He was an executive chef
with the American Culinary Association and past president of the Missouri
State Board of Sanitarians. In 2001, he was Rookie of the Year for EPHS. In
1991, he was the winner of the National Kellogg New Recipe Award and wrote a
cookbook for his sister, Shelly. He loved listening to music, playing trivia
games and restoring classic Dodge cars.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Zachritz.
He is survived by his father, Sheldon Zachritz of Cuba, Missouri; one sister,
Shelly Tash and husband Bob of Orlando, Florida; uncle, Clark Baker of
O’Fallon, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Britton-Bennett
Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. Masonic services were conducted by the
Lebanon Lodge #77 of Steelville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville with Rev. Larry Johnson
officiating. Special music of “Fire and Rain” and “You’ve Got a Friend” was
played. Casket bearers were David Johnson, Mike Johnson, Mike West, Tom Dalen,
Kent Swyers and Ken Lynch.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Sanders-Huzzah Cemetery.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
