MO Local Obituaries for the Week of August 5, 2020 Bonnie Dean Bolin Bonnie Dean Bolin of St. James, Missouri, formerly of Steelville, Missouri, was born on June 30, 1935 in Campbell, Missouri to Bee and Ina Sanford Bolin and passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the age of 85 years and 22 days. In 1954 he married Maxine Effie Axle. Bonnie served his country honorably in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War era and was of the Catholic faith. He was employed as a plumber pipe fitter in the St. Louis, Missouri area retiring after many years. Bonnie enjoyed sports and coached his sons in little league years ago. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan and always loved his time riding his motorcycle. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bee Bolin and Ina Gertrude Sanford Bolin; one son, Ronald Gene Bolin; twin brother, Johney Gene Bolin; and one sister, Beverly Ann Bolin. Davis Reid Buhr Davis Reid Buhr of Rolla, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 10, 1999 to Kirk and Susan (nee Williams) Buhr and passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at the age of 21 years. Although far too brief, Davis lived a fulfilling life. He cherished his family and had a special connection to his faith and his relationship with God. He loved the outdoors and would spend every free minute of his time at the family farm. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Davis had a special talent for writing and he was loyal and hard working. He loved all sports, but especially football. He would say that his experience on the football field, created a special bond among "brothers" that only those that played would understand. He was passionate about the Alabama Crimson Tide and New England Patriots and loved to playfully remind his brothers and dad of their success. He had a special interest in politics and loved his country. Davis had big dreams for the future. He was enrolled in the fall semester at State Tech to join his brother and they had visions of becoming business partners. Goodbye is not forever. Goodbye is not the end. She was raised in Madison, Illinios, but lived in various places because her family was always involved with The Salvation Army. Jessica met Jason at Camp Mihaska, where they were later married on May 2, 1998. Jessica loved children and she was able to teach preschool for many years. She was very creative, had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. Above all, her faith and her family were most important to her. Throughout Jessica's life, she always relied on her faith for strength and it became her rock during her illness. Robert "Bob" Lee Earney Robert "Bob" Lee Earney of Steelville, Missouri was born December 12, 1918 in Wesco, Missouri to Treff and Myrtle (nee Edwards) Earney and passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the age of 101 years, 7 months and 17 days. Bob married Edna Sease of Steelville, Missouri. She passed away in 1963. He married Olga Cilke Spongberg on June 19, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri. Bob served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member of Berea Temple Assembly of God Church in St. Louis, Missouri for many years where he was a deacon and taught Sunday school. Upon retirement, Bob and Olga moved to Steelville and attended the First Assembly of God Church where they were involved with visitation and drove the senior citizen van. He enjoyed collecting and polishing rocks. He was a train enthusiast, collecting and restoring old model trains. Carolyn married Barrett M. "Barry" Houseman on April 7, 1979 in Steelville, Missouri. They were married 37 years before Barry passed away in April 15, 2017. Carolyn spent her life believing in God. She was a devout member of Faith Chapel 30+ years. She loved being outdoors, working in her flower gardens and working in her vegetable garden. While living in Bourbon, on a small farm, she raised dogs. Her favorite TV shows were Animal Plant, Northwoods Law and COPS. She was an avid collector of salt and pepper shakers. In her younger years, she loved riding horses. Carolyn and Barry spent many hours going for a drive, looking for wildflowers and dogwood trees. Easton of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, October 6, 1922 in Fults, Illinois to Henry J. and Louisa (Klamp) Hern and passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the age of 97 years. Seta married Lee F. Easton on April 3, 1943 in East St. Louis, Illinois. Lee and Seta first owned and operated, in a joint corporation, a dairy farm near Sparta, Illinois. In 1946 they sold the partnership and purchased a farm near Renault, Illinois. Seta was a stay at home mother and housewife on the family farm. Seta also worked side-by-side with her husband operating equipment and caring for livestock. Gardening, canning and butchering provided nearly all the necessary foods. She also was an avid seamstress and provided clothing, rugs, quilts, drapes, etc. for her family and for a time worked for Brown Shoe Company in Chester, Illinois. In 1973 Lee and Seta sold the family farm and moved to Green River, Wyoming. There (1973-1981) Lee worked the underground mines and Seta worked as a department store manager. In 1981, they retired and moved to Cuba, Missouri, where Seta lived at home until her passing. Lee and Seta both enjoyed working various church projects and were longtime (70 years) members of the Assembly of God Churches in Illinois, Wyoming and Missouri. Over these times, Seta also served an estimated 30 years as the church secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Louisa Hern; husband, Lee Easton; one daughter, Beverly Breithaupt; one sister, Alma Juelfs; and two brothers, Wilbert Hern and Elmer Hern. Helen Cecile Eilert Helen Cecile Eilert of Steelville, Missouri was born in Aurora, Illinois on Saturday, January 29, 1949 to Dr. William G. and Geraldine (Divekey) Eilert and passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 23 days. Helen attended Ferry Hall School in Lake Forest Academy before graduating from West Aurora High School in 1967. She then attended Sullin's College in Bristol, Virginia receiving an Associate of Arts Degree. She studied abroad at Schiller College in Heidelberg, Germany. She graduated from North Central Illinois in 1971. Through her schooling she participated in ballet, cheerleading, gymnastics and was on the Ferry Hall synchronized swimming team. She received several academic accolades including making the dean's list while receiving her Bachelors in History and a Bachelors in English. After college she lived in New York City working at Rockefeller Plaza for Paramount movie company. She spent a short period of her life working as a safari tour guide in Africa before settling on a family owned farm in Steelville, Missouri. She then took several agricultural classes at University of Missouri - Columbia. She served as a member of the Missouri Farm Bureau Beef Advisory Committee and the local Flower and Garden Club. She was an active member on the Planned Parenthood board for many years. Helen spent the remainder of her life residing on her farm in Steelville. Throughout her life she continued to be an avid traveler visiting several continents, many countries, and islands. She loved museums of both history and art. She was a life long member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. Her enjoyed reading a good book, bird watching, a float trip on the Courtois, a ride through the farm, a good game or many a game of backgammon or spite and malice She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. William and Geraldine Eilert. Woodrow Fred Piersall Woodrow Fred Piersall of Cuba, Missouri was born Saturday, October 13, 1945 at West Alton Missouri to Woodrow and Vivian (nee Bradshaw) Piersall and passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at the age of 74 years. Fred, as he was known by, married Sharon Kay Switzer on August 15, 1964 at Cottage Hills, Illinois. Fred started his working career as a welder. He worked in St. Louis, Missouri and then in Mount Vernon, Indiana. He then went on to work as a welder for the Boiler Maker's. The next 25 to 30 years, Fred and Kay teamed together and drove a semi cross country. They owned a Kenworth, Freightliner, Peterbilt and other semis. Fred loved playing music, especially gospel and country. His radio, cassette or cd was always on. He enjoyed being outdoors, mowing grass and he enjoyed the time he got to be home. He liked going to car shows, truck shows and in his younger years he enjoyed racing. He had a collection of 200 to 300 Harley T-shirts. What Fred treasured was the times that he got to spend with his grandchildren on the back doorstep having a popsicle. Fred had been going to the Frist Southern Baptist Church of Leasburg, Missouri for the last 10 years and Fred loved God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Vivian Piersall; one son, Thomas Lugene Piersall; sister, Pat Sadler; and brother, Jim Nicklay. Sheleski of Neenah, Wisconsin was born February 25, 1923 in Neenah, Wisconsin to Harry and Valborg (Halle) Niles and passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the age of 97 years. Eunice graduated from Neenah High School in 1941. She married Richard Sheleski on October 16, 1943. Eunice was employed with the Menasha School District for over 25 years until her retirement. She loved working at Gegan School and was sad when the day came that it wasn't appropriate to hug anymore. She loved to knit and spent many hours at her sewing machine. She also enjoyed going to the library to get the newest book to read. Eunice and Dick enjoyed camping with their family and their trips to Ireland, Russia and Copenhagen, Denmark, where her mother was born. Eunice was an active and life-long member of First Presbyterian Church in Neenah, Wisconsin where she assisted with Bible study and was involved in sewing for the children of Appalachia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sheleski who passed away on January 20, 2000; a grandson, Rick McHugh; three sisters; and a son-in-law, George Kropidlowski. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Kropidlowski; son, Skip Sheleski of Cuba, Missouri; three grandchildren, David Kropidlowski, Jennifer (Alan) Hart and Christy (Chris) Herr; five great grandchildren, Brayden Rupnick, Evan Hart, Aidan Kropidlowski, Mackenzie and Brandon Herr; other relatives and friends. Anna Mae Snodgrass Anna Mae (nee Bray) Snodgrass of Vienna, Missouri was born September 7, 1929 in Vienna, Missouri to Millard Anderson and Orpha Irene Brown Bray and passed away Friday, July 31, 2020 at the age of 90 years. On June 28, 1947 at the Union Hill Baptist Church in Vienna, Missouri she married Delmar Norman Snodgrass. Delmar and Anna Mae devoted their lives to God and worshiped the Lord at Union Hill Baptist Church all their life. They raised six children on the Gasconade River farm and she assumed the duties of a farm wife doing whatever needed to be done on the farm. She worked beside her husband feeding cattle and hogs and chickens. Delmar and Anna Mae raised their children with a strong work ethic, good moral values and taught grandkids what to do with sprouts and if something needed to be done they were taught to take care of it. She was preceded in death by her parents, Millard and Orpha Bray; husband, Delmar Snodgrass on December 24, 2015; two daughters, Eletha Bastion and Irene Henderson; three brothers, Berthel Bray and wife Ruth, Lonnie Bray and Jimmy Bray; sisters, Helen Opperman and husband Leroy, Henrietta Jean Cobble and husband Bert; and two infant sisters, Dorothy and Elaine. She is survived by her children, Norman Snodgrass and wife Sandra, Dwight (Ike) Snodgrass and wife Debra, Mary Jane Duncan and Jeane Stegeman and husband Raymond, all of Vienna, Missouri; sons-in-law, Donnie Bastion of Meta, Missouri and Loyal Henderson of Vienna, Missouri; ex-sons-in-law: Charles James Duncan and Don Lanning, both of Vienna, Missouri; brother, Ellis Bray and wife Jackie of Osage Beach, Missouri; sister-in-law, Sylvia Bray of California, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; one great grandchild soon to arrive in August; other relatives and friends. Visitation held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the Union Hill Baptist Church in Vienna, Missouri. Voll of St. James, Missouri was born Monday, December 1, 1947 to George and Eileen (nee Bushey) Voll and passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the age of 72 years. John retired as a manger for a Nuclear Chemical Plant in Illinois after many years of dedicated service. John married Vicky on October 31, 2009. They enjoyed 10 1/2 years before she preceded him in death on April 16, 2020. John enjoyed riding four wheelers and being outdoors. He was known as Mr. Wilderness or John the Maintenance Man. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eileen Voll; wife, Vicky Voll; one brother, Steve Voll; and one sister, Jenny. He is survived by his caretaker and like a son, Troy Richardson of St. James, Missouri; daughter, Jill Hart; one sister, Carol Voll of California; two step sons, Jeremy and wife Jenna Hamilton of Washington, Illinois and Trent and wife Lindsay Hamilton of East Peoria, Illinois; other relatives and friends. Patricia "Pat" Volz Patricia "Pat"Volz (nee Holthaus) of Cuba, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on Monday, March 1, 1943 to Paul R. and Grace Elizabeth (Eck) Holthaus and passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 27 days. Patricia grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and accepted the Lord at a young age. She graduated from Aquinas High School in St. Louis, Missouri and went on to pursue her RN degree from DePaul School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. While she was in nursing school she met John Volz Jr. and they were married on September 26, 1964 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Florissant, Missouri. She worked as an Occupational Health Nurse for the following companies: Krey Packing (meat packaging), Ford Motor Company, Mallinckrodt (chemicals), Emerson Electric, Super Valu (grocery warehouse) and Monsanto. She lived with her family in the Spanish Lake area of St. Louis, Missouri until her husband's retirement and after that they moved to Indian Hills Lake in Cuba, Missouri. She commuted to work at Monsanto until her own retirement. She sponsored 12 foreign exchange students over the years. The first 10 were boys from Germany and the last two were girls from Kazakhstan. She formed life long friendships from these sponsorships and they catapulted her love of travel. Her life long passion was garage saling and thrifting and she pursued this most often together with her best friend, Sue O'Fallon. She volunteered her years of experience and expertise at her church's annual rummage/garage sales. She enjoyed the post retirement lake atmosphere of boating and playing Bunko with her lady friends at the lake. She was a member of Indian Lake Ladies Auxillary. She participated in the annual Relay for Life for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Volz Jr.; parents, Paul and Grace Holthaus; parents-in-law, John A. Volz Sr. and Margaret (McGrane) Volz.; brother, Bob Holthaus; and sister-in-law, Mary Holthaus. She is survived by her son, John A. Volz III of Alcova, Wyoming; daughter, Krista M. Adams of O'Fallon, Missouri; brothers, Mike Holthaus of Quincy, Illinois, John Holthaus and Tom (Peggy) Holthaus, all of Florissant, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Linda Holthaus of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Jayne (Gordon) Pitney of Naples, Florida and Joy Marshall of Flagstaff, Arizona; granddaughters, Emily G. Adams and Sophia M. Adams, both of O'Fallon, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
