Elvin L. Bunton
Elvin L. Bunton of Leasburg, Mo. passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at
the age of 56 years.
Mr. Bunton was born on July 19, 1946 at Oak Hill, Mo. to Lee Oscar and Emma
Jane (Haynes) Bunton. After being raised in the Cuba, Mo. area, he
honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam
War. Elvin moved to the state of Massachusetts, and in 1968 was married
there to Doris M. Thibaudeau. Doris preceded him in death in 1995. He then
was married to Patricia A. George on July 31, 1997 at Union, Mo.
Throughout his adult life Elvin worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for PJ
Keating, and retired from that company after twenty-five years of service.
He enjoyed spending quality time with his wife and children, fishing, and
attending church. Elvin was a member of the Full Gospel Pentecostal
Assembly of Leasburg.
He will be remembered an cherished as a very kind and loving husband,
father, grandfather, and friend, as well as being a friendly, honest, and
trustworthy man.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia, of the family home; three sons,
Preston Bunton and wife, Bonnie, of Townsend, Massachusetts, Glenn Bunton
and wife, Jaimie, of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, and RJ Nye-Bunton of
Leasburg; three daughters, Dawn Bunton and Dena Ammendolia and husband,
Anthony, all of West Townsend, Massachusetts, and Keshia Bunton-Nye of
Leasburg; four stepdaughters, Bobbie Hickey and husband, Joseph, Shannon
Nye and Jamie Nye and fiancé, Rodney Busch, all of Bourbon, Mo., and Tracie
Gibson and husband, Jerry, of Sullivan, Mo.
Four brothers, James Bunton and wife, Dorothy, and Ronald Bunton, all of
Bourbon; Oscar Bunton and wife, Sherry, of Owensville, Mo., and Earl Bunton
and wife, Oleva, of Union, Mo.; four sisters, Mary Jane Miller and husband,
Sam, of Washington, Mo., Catherine Denham and husband, Rick, of the state
of Oklahoma, Pearl Bunton of Bourbon, and Sharon Bunton of Rolla, Mo.; 13
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition
to his parents and first wife, Mr. Bunton was preceded in death by three
brothers, Emmett, Vernon, and Orville Bunton, and one sister, Shirley Ann
Spurgeon.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2002 from
the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Haskell
Bridgeman officiating. Interment with military honors was in the McMillian
Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. Visitation was from 5 until 9 p.m. on Thursday, August
1, 2002 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan,
Charles Newton Clark
Charles Newton Clark of Steelville, Missouri was born October 8, 1923 in
Austin, Indiana to the late Henry Addison Clark and Martha Alice Graves
Clark and departed this life July 4, 2002 at the Gibbs Care Center in
Steelville, Missouri at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 26 days.
Charles married Beatrice Jeanne Abney on April 5, 1946 in Indianapolis,
Indiana and together they raised three children. Beatrice passed away on
February 22, 1998.
Charles was a retired heavy equipment operator and lived most of his life
in Indiana before coming to Steelville, Missouri in 1989.
Charles served his country in the United States Army from March of 1943 to
January 1946 where he was honorably discharged receiving the Asiatic
Pacific Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars; Philippine Liberation ribbon
with one Bronze Star; Good Conduct Ribbon; Meritorious Unit Award and the
Victory Medal. He received the rank of S. Sgt.
Charles enjoyed stock car racing, hunting, fishing and spending time with
his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beatrice, five
brothers, Lewis, William, Thomas, Melvin and Ira and one sister, Muriels.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving children, Michael
Robbins and wife Bonnie of Plainfield, Indiana; Judith Ann Euans and
husband David of Desoto, Missouri; Nancy Stuckenburg and husband Joe of
Steelville, Missouri. Eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; one
sister, Lola Mae Soots of Huntsville, Alabama; brother-in-law and
sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends all who
will fondly remember and sadly miss Charles Newton Clark.
Charles was cremated and he and wife Beatrice Cremains are being buried in
the National Cemetery in Madison, Indiana.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in
Steelville, Missouri.
Stella Irene Sutton
Stella Irene Sutton (nee Harbison) was born Thursday, February 17, 1910, at
Ironton, Mo., a daughter of the late Edward Harbison and Rose Harbison (nee
Bell).
She entered eternal rest Saturday, July 27, 2002, at the Gibbs Care Center,
Steelville, Mo., at the age of 92 years, 5 months and 10 days.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband
William Sutton; five sisters, Bertha, Nell, Dell, Edna and Will, one
brother, Ezra, and a son-in-law, Thomas Graham.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her two devoted daughters,
Ruby Graham and Sue and husband Larry Helmering, all of Steelville, Mo.;
two sons, Ed of Cuba, Mo., Tom and wife Kathy of New Jersey; a number of
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and friends.
Stella Irene Sutton lay in state 6-9 p.m., Monday, July 29, 2002, at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, in the Britton
Chapel with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Rev. Beers also provided musical
selections.
Committal prayers and interment were in Meramec Hills Memorial Gardens,
Cuba, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were David and Alan Helmering, Rusty and
Jason Bishop, Tim Sutton and Elton Oden.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
