Alice “Lorene” Davis
Alice “Lorene” Davis, nee Coffman, of Steelville, Missouri was born
November 20, 1934 in Hinch, Missouri to James E. and Mabel Jane Vance
Coffman and passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Owensville, Missouri
at the age of 78 years, 8 months and 14 days.
On February 6, 1954 in Corinth, Mississippi she was united in marriage
to Billy Franklin Davis and to this union eight children were born.
She enjoyed along with her husband for many years researching genealogy
and they published two volumes of “Echoes From the Past.” A few years
ago, she volunteered at the Steelville Star writing a historical column
for the paper. Lorene always enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and
word searches. She also enjoyed reading poetry, listening to classical
and ragtime music and watching game shows.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Mabel Coffmann;
her husband, Billy Davis; one daughter, Susan Davis; brothers,
James E. Coffman, Paul Coffman and Franklin Coffman; and one sister,
Waneta Rennekamp and husband Harry.
She is survived by her children, James “Jim” Davis and wife Chantal,
John Davis and wife Christy, Caroline Booker, Billie Garrison and
husband David, Kathi Aston and husband Ken and Mary Ransom and husband
Mike, all of Steelville, Missouri and Janet Thompson and husband Bob
of Viburnum, Missouri; one brother, Bill Coffman and wife Gloria of
Steelville, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Ives Perrigue of Steelville,
Missouri and Esther Jeffries Ensley of Harrisonville, Missouri;
sister-in-law, Loretta Coffman of Jefferson City, Missouri; 18 grand-
children; 19 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2013
at the Turnbough Cemetery in Davisville, Missouri with Rev. Alan
Miles officiating. Special music of “How Great Thou Art” was sung
and played by Bob Coleman.
Casket bearers were George Bratcher, Walker Richards, Danny Nichols,
Matt Garrison, Eric Diaz, Seth McNew and Kole Aston and honorary
were Andy Davis, Jon Davis and Taylor Davis.

Lillian M. Graczak
Lillian M. Graczak of St. James, Missouri was born on
April 18, 1913 to Harry and Avena (Norden) Schallenberg in
Franklin County, Missouri and passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013
at the Golden Living Center in St. James, Missouri at the age of
100 years, 3 months and 12 days.
Lillian first married Homer Pickering of Waynesville, Missouri
who worked as a meat cutter in St Louis and farmed several acres
outside of Ellisville, Missouri. Lillian and Homer attended the
Christian Church near Ellisville and were baptized before Homer
was killed in a tractor accident. After his death she married
Joseph Graczak of Ellisville, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Avena
Schallenberg; first husband, Homer Pickering; second husband,
Joseph Graczak; two step daughters, Barbara and her husband
Oscar Klippel and Wanda and her husband Mac McLaughlin; two
sisters and their husbands, Stella and Elmer Lang of St. James,
Missouri and Marie and Noah Smith of St Louis, Missouri; two
brothers and their wives, Edwin and Elizabeth Schallenberg of
St Louis, Missouri and Herman and Aline (Vetta) Schallenberg of
St James, Missouri, and one brother-in-law, Fred Klippel.
She is survived by one sister, Louise Klippel of St James, Missouri;
nieces and nephews, Dale Schallenberg and wife Edna and family, Carol
Gallighar, Estella Mortz and husband Bob and family, Lillian Baxter
and husband Ron and family, Herman Schallenberg Jr. and wife Sandra
and family; grandchildren, Harold Klippel, Fred Klippel, Herman,
Klippel, Homer Klippel, Wayne Klippel, Mary Klippel, Detta Schuster,
Reggie McLaughlin, Mike McLaughlin and Mark McLaughlin; other
relatives and friends.
Visitation was held at the Jones Funeral Home from 1-2:30 p.m. on
Friday, August 2, 2013.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2:30 p.m.
at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri with Stephen
Brubaker officiating.
Pallbearers were Reggie McLaughlin, Mike McLaughlin, Mark Mclaughlin,
Home Klippel, Herman Klippel and Dewayne Schuster.
Burial was in the St. James Cemetery next to her first husband.

St. James, Missouri.
Sandra “Sandy” Joyce Hussey
Sandra “Sandy” Joyce Hussey of St. Louis, Missouri, formerly of
St. James, Missouri passed away August 4, 2013 at the age of 63 years.
Sandy grew up in Richmond Heights, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Beatrice Singleton
Busby.
She is survived by her former husband, Michael Hussey; daughter,
Kim (John) Cervantes; grandchildren, Miranda, Jacob Chris, Steven
and David; other relatives and friends.Graveside funeral was held
Monday, August 5, 2013 at the St. James Cemetery, St. James, Missouri.

Taylor “TJ” Theodore Jones
Taylor “TJ” Theodore Jones of Steelville, Missouri was born
March 18, 1962 to Herman Howard and Minerva Irene (nee Simington)
Jones and passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Golden Living
Center, St. James, Missouri at the age of 51 years.
Taylor was united in marriage to Christine Stearns on August 20, 1988
and to this union two children were born.
Taylor worked as a roofer before working in the factory making John
Deere tractor weights. He worked at the foundry in Waupaca, Wisconsin
before moving to Missouri in 1997. In 2005 Taylor moved his family to
Steelville, Missouri. He enjoyed shooting skeet, playing pool and
cards; watching the U.F.C on TV and he had been a softball coach.He
was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Minerva Irene Jones;
one brother, Kenneth Howard Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Christine Jones of the home; daughter,
Victoria Jones of Rolla, Missouri; son, Samuel Jones of the home;
grandson, Ghage Davin Taylor Ritchhart of Rolla, Missouri; sister,
Judy Stumborg of St. Clair, Missouri; father-in-law and mother-in-law,
Ronald and Barbara Stearns of Waupaca, Wisconsin; sisters-in-law,
Tereasa and husband Darryl Sparrow of Waupaca, Wisconsin and Becky
and husband Ed Weinmann of Waupaca, Wisconsin; other relatives and
friends.
Memorial visitation was held from 5-6 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013
at the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Memorial service was at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the
Mizell Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Henry Copling
officiating. Special music was “Old Rugged Cross and “I’ll Fly Away”
by Juanita Nichols and “Down to the River to Pray” and “O Death.”

Troy A. Pendley Sr.
Troy A. Pendley Sr. of St. James, Mo. formerly of St. Louis City,
was born on Aug 28, 1931 at Corona, Alabama to Jesse and Elva
(Pendley) Pendley and passed away at the Missouri Veteran’s Home
on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. He was 81 years, 11 months, and 3
days of age.
He was united in marriage to Betty Watkins on March 12, 1959 at
St. Louis, Mo.
Troy A. Pendley is survived by his wife, Betty Pendley of St. James,
Missouri; sons, Thomas Joseph Pendley of Bonne Terre, Missouri,
Thomas T. Pendley of O’Fallon, Missouri and Troy A. Pendley Jr. of
Bonne Terre, Missouri; daughters, Mary Frances Gann and husband
Brian of St. James, Missouri and Debra Marie Haungs and husband
Terry of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters, Inez Finn of Alabama and
Irene Homyer of Edwardsville, Illinois; nine grandchildren and six
great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Catherine Perry
Pendley; one sister, Grace McGlufflin and one great-grandchild, Tony
(T.J) Giaechina, Jr.
Troy A. Pendley Sr. was a retired St. Louis City Fire Fighter for
28 1/2 years and worked for the St. Louis County Fire Fighter for
3 years. He was presented with many heroic rescue awards and was
honored from the governor’s office several times. He was a veteran
of the Korean War and held memberships in V.F.W., the St. Louis
Masonic Triangle Lodge #638 A.F & A.M., having served as Past Master.
He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Elks Lodge of Deslodge, Mo and
was a Life member of the Eagles Lodge # 4210 also Troy was a 32nd
Degree Mason.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the Jones
Funeral Home in St. James. Masonic service was held at 7 p.m.
Funeral service was conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday August 5, 2013 at
the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Jerry Baumann officiating.
Burial in the St. James Cemetery with Military Honors.

St. James, Missouri.
William “Bill” Ray Penning
William “Bill” Ray Penning of Cuba, Missouri was born
February 11, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri to Clarence Edward and
Alvina M. Setzer Penning and passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at
his home at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 17 days.
Bill served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He worked as
an auto mechanic and enjoyed working on boats and lawn mowers. He
also was a truck driver and a fireman for the railroad.
He was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Cuba, Missouri at the
age of 22. He enjoyed playing his guitar and especially loved playing
his drums and listening to “Grateful Dead” music. He also was a
St. Louis Rams and Cardinals fan.
Bill will always be remembered as a very giving person to others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alvina Penning;
one son, Bryan Penning; uncles, Marvin Andrews, Charles Setzer and
Leonard Penning; aunt, Fern Penning Cooksey and husband Jake; and
one nephew, Keith Penning.
He is survived by one son, Brad Penning of Ohio; two brothers, Pete
Penning and wife Kathy of Tampa, Florida and Denny Penning and wife
Debbie of Hazelwood, Missouri; aunts, Doris Andrews of Cuba, Missouri
and Doris Penning of Joplin, Missouri; uncle, Ray Setzer and wife
Melba of Portland, Oregon; special cousin, Britt Blankenship of
Bismarck, Missouri; ex-wife and best friend, Cheryl Pitts of Cuba,
Missouri; nephews, David, Scott, Pat and Chris Penning. niece, Amy
Penny Gustafson; other relatives; and friends.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. until time of service on Saturday,
August 3, 2013 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville,
Missouri.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013
at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with
Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Special music of “I’ll Fly Away” and
“Go Rest High” was played.

Bernice “Bea” Sego
Bernice “Bea” Sego of Cuba, Missouri formerly of Maryland Heights,
Missouri was born on Friday, November 16, 1923 in St. Louis, Missouri
to William Caffrey and Stella Grayson Sego and passed away at
Victorian Place, Cuba, Missouri on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the age
of 89 years, 8 months and 10 days.
Bea worked many years and retired from General Electric Bulb Plant,
Wellston, Missouri as an assembly line worker. Her hobbies were
traveling with her sister Imogene, shopping and listening to Gospel
music. She was very generous and also, enjoyed taking her nieces
and nephews on many vacation trips.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Stella Sego;
brothers, Vernon (Alice) Sego, Kenneth A. (Angelina) Sego and Carl
(Juanita “Mickey”) Sego; sisters, Marie (Bill) Ramsey and Imogene
“Ime” (Herbert Al) Tutterrow and nephew, Danny Sego.
She is survived by her nephews, Ken (Ruth) Sego, and Larry (Marcia)
Sego, all of Cuba, Missouri, Don (Sheila) Sego of Sullivan, Missouri,
Tom (Linda) Ramsey of Bridgeton, Missouri and Ricky (Beatrice) Sego
of Montana; nieces, Genevieve (Wayne) Bryan of Imperial, Missouri
and Jackie Sego of Springfield, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Friday, August 2, 2013 from 12-1:15 p.m. at Maryland
Heights Presbyterian Church, Maryland Heights, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 1:15 p.m. with Pastor Jeanne Zimmermann
officiating. Burial at Fee Fee Cemetery, Bridgeton, Missouri with
Pastor Justin Mosher officiating.

Missouri.
Ernest A. Usery
Ernest A. Usery of Bridgeton, Missouri was born February 26, 1945
in Cherryville, Missouri and passed away August 1, 2013 at the age
of 68 years.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Usery of Bridgeton, Missouri;
daughter, Lena (Usery) Brown and husband Shane of Cuba, Missouri;
son, Steven Usery and wife Donna of O’Fallon, Missouri; grandchildren,
Shane Brown and Melayna Brown of Cuba, Missouri; other relatives and
friends.
A memorial service is planned.
Nancy Jo Whitaker
Nancy Jo Whitaker, nee Owens of Cuba, Missouri was born on Wednesday,
July 6, 1955 in St. Louis, Missouri to Chester Murrel and Rose
Branson Owens and passed away on Friday, August 2, 2013 at the age
of 58 years and 27 days.
She retired as a unit clerk from Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis,
Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and father, Chester
Owens.
She is survived by her husband, Tim Whitaker of Fenton, Missouri;
sons, Daniel (Tabitha) Frederich of O’Fallon, Illinois and Anthony
(Jill) Frederich of High Ridge, Missouri; grandchildren, Jeremiah,
Leah, AJ and Jackson Frederich; mother, Rose and stepfather Charles
Robinette of Steelville, Missouri; sister, Retta (Bill) Gandy of
Ocala, Florida; brother, Nelson (Paula) Owens of St. Louis, Missouri;
other relatives and friends.
Visitation is 6:30-7 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2013 and memorial
service at 7 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri
with Pastor Jim Kerr officiating.

John R. Willen Sr.
John R. Willen, Sr. of Belle, Missouri was born on December 28, 1938,
in Bridgeton, Missouri, to Ben and Sophie (Litteken) Willen and
passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Mary’s Health
Center in Jefferson City, Missouri at the age of 74 years.
John was united in marriage on May 18, 1957, in Bridgeton, Missouri
to Dorothy G. (Kopesky) Willen.
John was a carpenter and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and
woodworking. His greatest love was spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Sophie Willen; and
several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his 10 children and their
spouses, John Willen, Jr. and wife Dawn of St. Johns, Missouri,
Al Willen and wife Mary of Bland, Missouri, Jerry Willen of
Steelville, Missouri, Ron Willen of St. Louis, Missouri, Cheryl
Burns and husband Joe of Marthasville, Missouri, Karen Kitrel and
husband Don of St. Peters, Missouri, Teri Ruf and husband Keith
of Orchard Farm, Missouri, Brenda Nelson and husband Jim of
Overland, Missouri, Jane Breneisen and husband Mike of St. Peters,
Missouri and Bill Willen and wife Tiffany of Belle, Missouri; 20
grandchildren; nine great grandchildren (with two more on the way);
three sisters, Theresa Duncan of Warrenton, Missouri, Margaret Willen
of Overland, Missouri and Sophie Hankey and husband Bill of Warrenton,

In accordance with John’s wishes, his body has been cremated and no
services are planned at this time.
