Rebecca Jane Dotson
Rebecca Jane Dotson, dear wife of Junior W. Dotson of Cuba, Missouri; dear
mother of Paul Roop and wife Judy, Dale Dotson and wife Randene, all of
Rolla, Missouri, Vaughn Roop and wife Lucy of Dixon, Missouri and Earline
Hughes and husband Louis of Cuba, Missouri; dear sister-in-law of Melba
Shoemaker and Ruby Grief, all of Leslie, Missouri, Doris Wilker and husband
Howard of Wentzville, Missouri and Esther Dotson of Cuba, Missouri; dear
grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, born: Sunday,
October 24, 1920 and passed away: Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at the age of 80
years.
Visitation is Thursday, August 9 from 6-9 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home
in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at the Hutson Funeral Chapel in Cuba,
Missouri at 11 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2001 with Rev. Herman Rogers
officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the Cuba Ministerial Alliance.
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba,
Missouri.
Rosemary A. Graddy
Rosemary A. Graddy of Bourbon, Mo. passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at
the age of 74 years.
Mrs. Graddy was born on October 24, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to the late
Patrick and Catherine (Hartle) Foley. She was raised in Chicago, later
moved to St. Louis, and eventually settled in Bourbon in 1953. On December
1, 1956 Rosemary was united in marriage to Cecil A. Graddy in Hernando,
Mississippi. During her adult years, she primarily served her family as a
devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and
homemaker. Rosemary was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God in
Bourbon. She found pleasure in baking, sewing, and crocheting. For many
years she was known for baking wedding cakes and other "all occasion"
items. Rosemary will be lovingly remembered and cherished as a God-fearing
woman who was very patient and easygoing.
She is survived by her husband, Cecil Graddy of Bourbon; one son, James
Madison and wife, Trish of Bourbon; five daughters, Barbara Ivey and
husband, James of Kernersville, North Carolina, Darlene Parker and husband,
John of Bourbon, Roseanne Shepherd and husband, Wendell of Fayetteville,
Arkansas, Linda Chick and husband, James of Bowling Green, Mo., and Angel
Monda and husband, Ron of Cuba, Mo.; twelve grandchildren, fourteen
great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her
parents, Mrs. Graddy was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Graddy and
one grandson, Doug Parker.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 3, 2001 from
the First Assembly of God in Bourbon with Pastor Harold Harrison
officiating. Interment was in Lea Cemetery. If desired, contributions may
be made to the Children's Ministries of the First Assembly of God in
Bourbon in memory of Mrs. Rosemary Graddy. All arrangements were under the
care of the Eaton Funeral Chapel in Bourbon.
Nancy Lee Harvey
Nancy Lee Harvey nee Dillon was born Tuesday, July 15, 1952, at Washington,
Mo., a daughter of Richard and Faith (Clonts) Dillon. She entered into rest
Monday, July 23, 2001, in the Missouri University Hospital, Columbia, Mo.,
at the age of 49 years and 8 days.
On July 23, 1977, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lee Summit, Mo., Nancy
was united in marriage to James G. Harvey. They made their first home in
St. James, Mo., where she taught English and French, and Jim taught Social
Studies and English at Vienna, Mo. They both later taught in Cuba, Mo. They
have enjoyed twenty-four years together, and were living in the Jefferson
City, Mo. area.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband, Jim
Harvey of the home in Jefferson City; her parents, Richard and Faith
Dillon, also of Jefferson City; one sister, Connie and husband Wayne Lamb
of Kansas City, Mo.; father-in-law, James Harvey; brother-in-law, Gary
Harvey both of Grandview, Mo.; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and
many friends.
Nancy Lee Harvey lay in state 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Prayer services were held at
6 p.m. in the Britton Chapel conducted by Father Bob Duesdieker.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2001 at Holy Cross
Catholic Church, Cuba, Mo., officiated by Father Bob Duesdieker. Eulogy
given by Rev. John Sheldon. Musical selections were provided by vocalist
Danny Gladden and organist Mary Elders Pounds.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville,
Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Danny Gladden, Joe Gladden, John Gladden,
Wayne Lamb, John Matteson and John Sheldon.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Jane S. Helm
Jane S. Helm of Washington, Mo., passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2001 at
the age of 75.
Mrs. Helm was born in St. Louis, Mo. on September 30, 1925 to Milton and
Amelia Strauser Stierman. On December 17, 1941 she was married to Curtis
Helm at Warrenton, Mo. and to this marriage two children were born. She was
employed as a teller and accountant at First National Bank of Wellston for
13 years. Upon her husbands retirement in 1978, they came to the Bourbon,
Mo. area and later purchased a home in Washington, Mo. They divided their
time between the two areas but most recently lived the majority in
Washington. Mrs. Helm loved the outdoors and found pleasure in walking and
gardening. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Cuba, Mo.,
Garden Club of Washington, and Order of Eastern Star, and Oak Hill
Extension Club.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Helm, one son, Curtis G. Helm and
wife Barbara of O'Fallon, Mo., one daughter, Vicki Lynn Helm of Colorado
Springs, Colorado, 3 grandchildren, Scott, Dawn and Nicole, one
great-grandchild, Drake, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2001 from
the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Gary Mace officiating.
Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery, rural Cuba, Mo. The family desires
memorial contributions to Relay for Life/Cancer Research.
Russell F. Sanders
Russell F. Sanders of Sullivan, Mo. passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2001
at the age of 61 years.
Mr. Sanders was born on December 9, 1939 in Potosi, Mo. to the late Elmer
Francis and Dorothy M. (Rodgers) Sanders. As a young man, he moved with his
family to the St. Louis County, and later to the Sullivan area in 1976.
Russell worked as a truck driver for over forty years. On October 5, 1991
he was united in marriage to Helen (Pratt) Neeley at the Grace United
Methodist Church in Sullivan, where he was a member. Russell found pleasure
in hunting, gardening, riding motorcycles, working on trucks, and his dogs.
He was a man who will be lovingly remembered and cherished as a "gentle
giant."
He is survived by his wife, Helen Sanders of Sullivan; two sons, Rusty
Sanders and wife, Nancy of Washington, Mo. and Rob Sanders and wife, Janet
of Leasburg, Mo.; one stepson, Bobby Maue and wife, Debra of Jefferson
City, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Linda Pohlman and husband, Cletus of Rockaway
Beach, Mo.; five brothers, Les Sanders of Cuba, Mo., Robert Sanders of
Page, Arizona, Kenneth Sanders and wife, Sue of Fenton, Mo., Tom Sanders
and wife, Trudy of Monmouth, Illinois, and Jack Sanders and wife, Margie of
Stanton, Mo.; three sisters, Ruth Shaw and husband, Bob of Kirkwood, Mo.,
Rose Adams and husband, Mel of Owensville, Mo., and Mabel Ann Cuneio and
husband, Jack of Sullivan; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren,
three step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2001 from
the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Reverend Michael
Hannah officiating. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.
Alexander "Sam" Thomeczek
Alexander "Sam" Thomeczek of Sullivan, Mo. passed away on Wednesday, August
1, 2001 at the age of 80 years.
Mr. Thomeczek was born on January 25, 1921 in Clover Bottom, Mo. to the
late Frank and Matilda (Klenke) Thomeczek. He was raised in Clover Bottom,
and has continued to be a lifelong resident of the Sullivan area. On June
7, 1947 he was joined in holy matrimony to Marguerite Weiskopf at St.
Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan, and to their union eight children were
born.
"Sam," as he was fondly known by family and friends, worked and supported
his family throughout his entire life as a farmer. He served as a project
leader for the Spring Bluff 4-H Club for many years, and also was a member
of the Missouri Cattlemen's Association. He was a faithful member of the
St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan for most of his life. "Sam" found
pleasure in fishing, hunting, and gardening. He will be lovingly remembered
and cherished as a hard-working, fun-loving man who possessed a great sense
of humor. He will also continue to be admired as "a good role model," "a
good provider," and a man who "never met a stranger."
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite Thomeczek of Sullivan; three sons,
Ronnie Thomeczek of Bourbon, Mo., Kenny Thomeczek and wife, Terry and Tommy
Thomeczek and wife, Mary Beth, all of Spring Bluff, Mo.; four daughters,
Rickie Sue Farris and husband, Jim of Eureka, Mo., Mary Wilmesher and
husband, Dennis of Union, Mo., Margie Hodge and husband, Harold of Rolla,
Mo., and Jane Frolker and husband, Curt of Owensville, Mo.; one
daughter-in-law, Shelby Dunn and husband, Darryl of Spring Bluff; two
sisters, Anne Purcell of the state of Florida and Matilda Dains of Great
Falls, Montana; eighteen grandchildren, nine great-grand-children, nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr.
Thomeczek was preceded in death by one son, Gary Thomeczek, and four
brothers and two sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 3,
2001 from the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with Reverend Father
Theodore Brunnert officiating. Interment was in the Laubinger Memorial
Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be made to the Laubinger Memorial
Cemetery or for Masses in memory of Alexander "Sam" Thomeczek. All
arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
