Marie Mable Brooks
Marie Mable Brooks was born Monday, April 4, 1922, at Elvins, Missouri,
a daughter of the late Julius James DeGonia and Mary Susan (Yates)
DeGonia. She entered eternal rest Saturday, August 2, 2003, at the
Cuba Manor, Cuba, Missouri, at the age of 81 years, 3 months and 28
days. She was a nurse by profession. She attended the Coffee Community
Church, Steelville, Missouri. She was a member of the American Legion
Auxiliary and Navy Wives Clubs of America. She was also an active
volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.
In addition to her parents, three brothers and their wives, Frank
and Mattie DeGonia, George and Marple DeGonia, Thomas and Helen DeGonia
and six sisters, Wilma, Bertha, Catheren, Rosa and Dorothy DeGonia and
Mary Martha (DeGonia) and husband Charlie H. Trudo preceded Marie in
death. She was also preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Perry Hanks.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband
Richard Brooks of the home in Steelville, Mo.; one son, Ray Franklin
Wright and wife Krystal of Zanesville, Ohio; one grandson, Tom Wright
of Steelville, Mo.; one sister, Allean Hanks, also of Steelville, Mo.;
nieces, nephews cousins, relatives and many friends.
Marie Mable Brooks lay in state 5-8 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2003, at
the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2003, in the
Britton Chapel, Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Gene Whitaker officiating.
Musical selections were provided by Judy and Jordan Whitaker and
Mildred Campbell. Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville
Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Tom Trudo,
James DeGonia, Steve Eads, David Hedrick and Ken Halbert. Rev. A. F.
Roberdes gave the committal prayer. Arrangements were under the
direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Noel Elbert Harp
Noel Elbert Harp passed away on Friday, August 1, 2003 in the Eureka
Springs Hospital at the age of 81 years. He was born in Marble,
Arkansas on December 29, 1921 to James and Sarah Harp.
Noel married Margie (Haley) Harp who preceded him in death.
Noel was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy (Turnbough) Harp to
whom he was married on January 18, 1980, two brothers, Delbert Harp of
Green Forest and Lloyd Harp of Sonora and two sisters, Ada Haley and
Elsie Littrell of Marble. He was a long time resident of Green Forest
where he worked for Nelson Funeral Home as a cemetery worker. He has
resided for the last several years at the Eureka Springs Nursing Home.
Survivors include a son, Harold and wife Opal Harp of Anchorage, Alaska;
seven step-daughters, Wanda Heads and husband James of Green Forest,
Sue Pliler and husband Paul of Springdale, Barbara Logan and husband
Junior of Hindsville, Cathy Mercer and husband Wayne of Sullivan, Mo.,
Arbell Chew and husband Leroy of Cuba, Mo., Bonnie Mercer of Branson, Mo.
and Alvina Housewright of Bourbon, Mo.; three step-sons, Robert
Turnbough and wife Betty of Springdale, Bill Turnbough and wife Mae of
Springdale, Gary Turnbough and wife Kathy of Centerton, Arkansas;
one brother, Boyd Harp of Green Forest; 40 grandchildren; 64 great
grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. He will be sadly missed
by his family and friends and others that knew him.
Visitation was held at the Nelson Chapel in Berryville on Sunday,
August 3, 2003 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Graveside funeral services
were 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2003 at the Lower Campground Cemetery
with Pastor Larry Montgomery officiating. Honorary casketbearers were
Michael Pliler, Jimmy Heads, David Turnbough, Billie Turnbough, Ben Chew
and Jay Mercer.
Angelina Sophia Sego
Angelina Sophia Sego nee Marnati of Steelville, Missouri was born on
Monday, November 26, 1923, in St. Louis, Mo. to Joseph V. Marnati and
Adele Gobetti Marnati. She passed away Friday, August 8, 2003 at the
Life Care Nursing Center in Sullivan, Mo. at the age of 79 years, 8
months, and 13 days.Angelina was united in marriage to Kenneth A.
Sego in St. Louis, Mo. on May 27, 1942 and three sons were born to
this union. They lived most of their married life in Steelville, Mo.
where Angelina was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.
She was a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church of Steelville,
Mo. Her hobbies were sewing, quilting, and crocheting. She loved to
cook and enjoyed working in her garden. She also gave special attention
to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; parents Joseph and
Adele Marnati; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Carl Sego, Vernon Sego,
Marie Ramsey, Al Tutterow, Reno Monola, Tommy Cantrell, mother-in-law
Stella Grayson Sego and father-in-law William Sego.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her sons: Kenneth W. Sego and
wife Ruth of Cuba, Mo., Donald Sego and wife Sheila of Sullivan, Mo.,
Larry Sego and wife Marcia of Cuba, Mo.; sisters Dorothy Stroud and
husband Harold of O'Fallon, Mo., Eleanor Monola of Harvester, Mo., Norma
Cantrell of Indiana, Gloria Mayberry and husband Harold of Kirkwood, Mo.,
Grace Lutes and husband Leroy of Crestwood, Mo. Brother-in-laws and
sister-in-laws Bernice Sego, Imogene Tutterrow, and Mickey Sego all of
St. Louis, Mo., and Alice Sego of Ellington, Mo.; 10 grandchildren;
eight great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends all
who will sadly miss Angelina Sego. Visitation was Sunday, August 10, 2003
from 5-9 at the Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services were Monday, August 11, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Hutson
Funeral Chapel, Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Charles Likely officiating.
Lindsay Mosher sang "In the Garden" and Ruth Sego sang "Precious Lord,
Take My Hand" with guitar accompaniment. Burial was in the Barnicle
Chapel Cemetery, Steelville, Mo. with pallbearers Matt DeParle, Eric
Strosnider, Matt Terry, Brad Sego, Scot Garrett, and Shawn Curtis.
All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Mo.
