June Marie Cunningham
June Marie Cunningham nee Looney of Cuba, Mo. was born on March 19, 1938 to
the union of George Looney and Edna Looney nee Larrison and passed away on
August 9, 2001 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Mo. at the age
of 63 years, 5 months and 20 days.
On April 26, 1957 June was united in marriage to Donald D. Cunningham at
Mt. Vernon, Mo. Seven sons and one daughter were born to this union. They
were happily married until Donald preceded her in death on April 5, 1998.
June was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister Fern Looney.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her daughter
Donna Cunningham and Gary; eight sons, Donald Cunningham, Jr., Joseph
Cunningham, Roger Cunningham and Cathy, Ronald Cunningham and Lisa, Charles
Cunningham and Janet, Michael Cunningham, Edward Cunningham and Janet and
Wes Adair and Sheila; two brothers James Looney and Glen Looney and Becky;
one sister-in-law Mary Cunningham; 40 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other
relatives and many friends.
June was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, good friend to all who
knew her and will be sadly missed.
June Marie Cunningham nee Looney was in state at the Britton Funeral Home
of Cuba, Mo. where funeral services were held on Sunday, August 12, 2001 at
2 p.m. with Rev. Jim Gruver officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills
Cemetery, Cuba, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
Rebecca Jane Dotson
Rebecca Jane Dotson was born on Sunday, October 24, 1920 at Bem, Mo. to
Frank Dotson and Fannie Pankey. She departed this life on Tuesday, August
7, 2001 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Mo. at the age of 80
years, 9 months and 14 days.
Rebecca grew up in rural Crawford County until she was a teenager and then
the family moved to Kansas City, Kansas. In 1939 she married Richard E.
Roop in Olathe, Kansas and to this union five children were born. Richard
E. Roop was killed on November 30, 1944 in WW II. On February 10, 1953
Rebecca Roop was united in marriage to Junior W. Dotson, and to this union
one son was born.
Rebecca professed her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, and was
of the Pentecost faith.
For several years they lived at High Point and Leasburg before moving to
Cuba in 1988. Most of her life she was a mother and housewife. She worked
at the Veteran's Home in St. James for a few years before her retirement.
Rebecca enjoyed gardening. She also loved animals. She and her husband
liked to visit the sick and encourage the less fortunate. She always
enjoyed company, and being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard E. Roop; two
sisters, Leona Coffman and Dorothy Korff; three brothers, Frank Dotson,
Walter Dotson, and Mertis Dotson; and two sons, Robert Earl Roop and
Richard Leroy Roop.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her dear husband Junior W. Dotson
of Cuba, Mo.; one daughter, Earline Hughes and husband Louis of Cuba, Mo.;
three sons, Paul Roop and wife Judy of Rolla, Mo., Vaughn Roop and wife
Lucy of Dixon, Mo., and Dale Dotson and wife Randene of Rolla, Mo.; four
sisters-in-law, Esther Dotson of Cuba, Mo., Melba Shoemaker and Ruby
Griefe, both of Leslie, Mo., and Doris Wilker and husband Howard of
Wentzville, Mo.; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and many friends, all who will sadly miss and
fondly remember Rebecca Jane Dotson.
Visitation was on Thursday, August 9, 2001 at Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba,
Mo. from 6-9 p.m.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on August 10, 2001 at Hutson Funeral
Chapel in Cuba, Mo. with Rev. Herman Rogers officiating.
Pallbearers were David Roop, Eddie Roop, Sean Hughes, Brian Hughes, Bradley
Hughes, and Kimberly Dotson.
Memorials are suggested to the Cuba Ministerial Alliance.
All arrangements were under the direction of Hutson Funeral Home in Cuba,
Mo.
Vernon James Garrison
Vernon James Garrison was born Thursday, February 1, 1912, a son of the
late James Vernon Garrison and Della Martha (Hanks) Garrison. He departed
this life Friday, August 3, 2001, in the Missouri Baptist Medical Center,
Sullivan, Mo., at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 2 days.
Vernon was united in marriage to Virginia Mae Doris. Twins Jim and Janet
and two other daughters, Mary and Martha, were born to this union. She
preceded him in death, June 22, 1987. He was married to Sarah Turner, who
also preceded him in death, as did an infant daughter, Mary Garrison; three
brothers, Henry, Roy, and Willis Garrison and one sister, Beulah Lynch.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted daughters,
Janet and husband Robert Young of Steelville, Mo. and Martha Aden of St.
Louis, Mo.; one son Jim Garrison and wife Nausun of Belleview, Illinois;
five grandchildren, Maridee and husband Curtis Hayes, Melanie and husband
William Johnson, all of Steelville, Mo., Bert Young and wife Julia of St.
Peters, Mo., David Garrison, Donna Garrison, both of Belleville, Illinois.
Five great-grandchildren, Joseph Hemby, Caleb Hemby, Abigail Hayes, and
Cole Johnson, all of Steelville, Mo., Cassidy Young of St. Peters, Mo.;
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Vernon James Garrison lay in state 4-8 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2001, at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held
11 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2001, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. James
Gruver officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville,
Mo. Serving as pallbearers were George Carey, Danny Galliger, David
Garrison, Terry Garrison, William Johnson, and Bert Young.
Arrangements were under the direction of Britton Funeral Home, Steelville,
Mo.
Jessie McCarty
Jessie Ernest McCarty, of Owensville, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001, at
the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was 66 years old.
He was born September 9, 1934, in Hardin, Illinois, a son of Warren L. and
Nellie Barnes McCarty. He married Sharon Howell on November 5, 1971, in
Phoenix, Arizona, and she survives.
In addition to his wife Sharon, he is also survived by three sons, Warren
McCarty, Owensville, Todd Earls and his wife Kim, Phoenix, Arizona, and
Ricky Earls, Phoenix, Arizona; three daughters, Lori Olson and her husband
Greg, Omaha, Nebraska, Dawn Ledbetter and her husband Richard, Washington,
Mo., and Tammy McCarty and her special friend, Douglas Horn, Pacific; 17
grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Mary (McCarty)
Still.
Mr. McCarty was a retired Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force,
serving his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was
a member of the D.A.V. Chapter #65 of Cuba.
Mr. McCarty's remains were cremated. Funeral services are pending.
Arrangements were made under the direction of Gottenstroeter Funeral Home
in Owensville.
Frankie D. Street
Frankie D. Street was born Wednesday, December 8, 1920 in Hardage, Mo. to
the late George A. Thompson and Sarah Josephine Broadfoot Thompson and
departed this life at her home on Saturday, August 4, 2001 at the age of 80
years, 7 months and 27 days.
Frankie married Charles A. Street June 20, 1940 in St. Louis, Mo. and to
this union five children were born.
Frankie accepted the Lord early in life and was a member of a Baptist
Church in St. Louis, Mo. She enjoyed children, and loved her grandchildren
and family very much.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, two brothers
Junior Thompson, and Albert Thompson, her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law
Roy and Vern Riley; Jess Brawley; Voyd and Lucille Ruble.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving children Melvin Street
and wife Judy of Wright City, Mo.; Melba Carroll and husband Don of
Maryland Heights, Mo.; Barbara Pugh and husband Dave of Cleveland, Ohio;
Joyce Counts and husband Gary of Steelville, Mo.; Glenda Wynn of Cuba, Mo.;
son-in-law Fran Wynn of Steelville, Mo.
Her brother Everett Thompson and wife Catherine of Ellington, Mo., her
sisters Wilma Riley of Kansas City, Mo., Georgia Martin and husband Cleatis
of Ellington, Mo., and Erma Brawley of Ballwin, Mo.; her sister-in-law and
brother-in-law Maybelle Reese and husband Roy of Birch Tree, Mo.
15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives and many friends all who will sadly miss and fondly remember
Frankie D. Street.
Visitation was held Sunday, August 5, 2001 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the
Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Mo.
Funeral services was held at the Hutson Funeral Chapel in Steelville, Mo.
at 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2001 with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Jerry
Beers sang Precious Lord Take My Hand and Gloryland and the CD, "If You
Could See Me Now," by Don Moen was played. Those serving as pallbearers
were her grandsons.
Burial in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Mo.
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in
Steelville, Mo.
