MO Local Obituaries for the Week of August 16, 2017 Raymond Franklin Breuer Raymond Franklin Breuer of Columbia, Missouri Raymond was born November 15, 1919 to Thomas and Minnie Mae (Agee) Breuer and passed away August 4, 2017 at the age of 97 years, 8 months and 20 days. He was survived by his wife of 77 years, Velva Breuer, who was born July 2, 1920 to Elmer and Amelia (Diestelkamp) Ferris and passed away 30 hours later her husband on August 6, 2017 at the age of 97 years, 1 month and 4 days. Both graduated from Bland High School. Raymond and Velva married January 27, 1940. He retired from Ford Motor Company in St. Louis in 1978. Velva was a homemaker. After retirement they moved to North Carolina where Raymond preached for the Warne Church of Christ for 10 years. While living there, Raymond served as a volunteer firefighter, taught at a local college and was president of a local Gem and Mineral Society. After they returned to Missouri in 1994 they were active members of the Hallsville Church of Christ, where Raymond served as an elder several years. Raymond loved studying and teaching the Bible. After Raymond and Velva moved to Boone Landing Retirement Community in Columbia, Missouri in 2013, he started Thursday evening classes called ÒBible Study With Ray.Ó They were both preceded in death by their parents; two sons, Billie Breuer and Ronald Breuer; and one daughter, Sharon Meine. Raymond was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo and Coy Breuer; and one sister, Eva Stewart. Velva was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Ferris. Both were survived by two sons, Bobby (Faye) Breuer and Thomas (Sue) Breuer of Warrenton, Missouri; one daughter, Donna (Steve) Hardin of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky; grandchildren; great- grandchildren; great great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Velva was survived by one sister, Darlein Duncan. Leonard Raymond Burke Leonard Raymond Burke of Cuba, Missouri was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1939 in St. James, Missouri to Joe Allen and Thelma Ludie Trask Burke and passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 3 days. Leonard served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was first employed for several years making electric motors at Baldor Electrical Manufacturing and then later a machine operator at Custom Printing in Owensville, Missouri. Leonard enjoyed fishing and working with horses and cattle. For a short period of time he hauled and delivered horses throughout the country for Bluebar Farms in Gray Summit, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Thelma Burke; sisters, LaVerna Quinton, Glenda I. Norman Joseph DeLeo Norman Joseph DeLeo of Cuba, Missouri was born at Staten Island, New York on Thursday, December 1, 1932 to Joseph Thomas and Helen Hedwig (Von Homs Somems) DeLeo and passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the age of 84 years. During NormanÕs early childhood, the DeLeo family moved from New York to Porterville, Missouri, then to California, Missouri and eventually they settled in Cuba, Missouri. Norman attended grade school at Holy Cross School through the eighth grade, one year at Cuba High School, before finishing the last three years of high school at Subiaco Academy in Arkansas. After high school, he graduated in 1957 from St. Louis University with a degree in Dentistry. Upon graduating college, Norman enlisted in the United States Army. He served seven years in the 82nd Airborne Division, reaching rank of Captain. After the service, he moved his family back to Cuba, Missouri and opened a dental practice. Looking for a new adventure, he decided to leave dentistry and he purchased a local beer distributorship, thus began DeLeo Distributing. He was elected President to the Missouri Beer WholesalersÕ Association and received an award for his article on alcohol abuse. After selling DeLeo Distributing, he eventually became an Economic Adviser to the City of Cuba and served as the Director of the Industrial Development Authority. Also during this time, Norman served as an advisor to Missouri State Economic Board. Norman served on the Chamber of Commerce, MRPC and numerous other boards and committees. In his spare time, he enjoyed golf, hunting, scuba diving, traveling and being the pilot on an airplane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen Hedwig DeLeo; and one sister, Heidi Jones. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty L. Fayron Ray Fritz Fayron Ray Fritz of Washington, Missouri was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 8, 1957 to Leo Franklin Fritz Sr. and Opal Ilene Fritz (nee Johnson) and passed away on August 2, 2017 at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 25 days. As a young man he was united in marriage and blessed to have one son. Fayron was a Christian, having been raised in the Baptist faith and believing in the Lord as his Savior. For the past 10 years he owned and operated Old DogÕs Auto Body in Washington, Missouri. Fayron was a talented musician and in his younger years, had his own country band, Wild Country. He was an outdoorsman at heart and spending time outdoors was a favorite pastime. He was passionate about fishing and every chance he got, he had a fishing pole in hand. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo Sr. and Opal Fritz; two brothers, Tommy Fritz and Gary Fritz; and one sister, Rosemary Schwartz. Barbara was united in marriage to Jimmie Lee Garrison. Barbara and Jimmie owned and operated the Cuba Book and Varity Store. They also owned the Cuba Amusement Center, Steelville Amusement Center, St. James Amusement Center and the Viburnum Amusement Center and the Cuba Scrapyard. Before moving to Cuba, they owned G&G Vending Co. and the Allerton Scrapyard in Allerton, Illinois. After Jimmie passed away, Barb went to work for Cuba Manor in the housekeeping department. She was an excellent cook that always cooked from scratch. Her apple pies and biscuits were the worldÕs best. In her spare times she enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and going to the boat. Barb is preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Bessie Raybrook; husband, Jimmie L. Garrison; 18-year-old son, James L. Palmer was united in marriage to Diana Copling on May 24, 1996 in Houston, Texas. Palmer was a graduate of Sumner High School. He worked in factories most of his life. He enjoyed sports, listening to music, barbequing and spending time with his family and friends. Edward Owen "Eddie" Klein Edward Owen ÒEddieÓ Klein of Cuba, Missouri was born on Thursday, January 18, 1951 in Monterey Park, California to James Arthur and Wilma Lee (Weber) Klein and passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the age of 66 years, 6 months and 25 days. Eddie accepted the Lord at a young age and attended Steelville Assembly of God Church. He married Florence Belle Watson on July 19, 1968 in Waynesville, Missouri and to this union six children were born. He was owner and operator of Klein Developments in Cuba, Missouri. Prior to that he worked as a logger in the timber industry, as a miner at Pea Ridge Mines, Sullivan, Missouri and in the insole department at Brown Shoe Company when it operated in Steelville, Missouri. He loved running his big equipment, i.e. his bulldozer, etc. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Wilma Klein; father-in-law, Ben Watson Sr.; step-father, Richard Nabe; step-dad, Bob Blackwood; brother. Loren retired as a Building Inspector for the State of Arizona. He honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star and Gallentry Cross.
