MO Local Obituaries for the Week August 18, 2005 Anna Broadhuhn Anna Broadhuhn passed away August 10, 2005 at the Baptist Home in Ironton, Missouri, at the age of 101 years. She was born June 15, 1904 in St. Charles, Missouri to Johann Henry and Johanna A. (Kaldeweir) Berlekamp. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Miller; second husband, Monte Broadhuhn, one son, Harold E. Miller; eight brothers and one sister and son-in-law, James Williams. Surviving are two sons, Roy W. Miller of Manchester, Missouri and Ralph D. Miller of Gulfport, Mississippi; two daughters, Rita M. Watts of Bull Shoals, Arkansas and Marian (Corky) Loman of Kansas City, Missouri. Twelve grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Steelville, Missouri, an avid fisherman, enjoyed crafts and was a seamstress. She was a member of the Centerpoint Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 13 at 10 a.m. at the Baptist Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Arnett officiating. Interment was in the Baptist Home Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home in Ironton, Missouri. Rutherford Burch "Rudy" Hamilton Rutherford Burch "Rudy" Hamilton was born Saturday, August 14, 1926 at McDowell, Kentucky, a son of the late Evan V. and Della Hamilton. He departed this life at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia, Missouri, Thursday, August 4, 2005 at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 20 days. He attended high school at Berea College Academy in Kentucky until he was drafted in World War II in 1944. On January 16, 1945 at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, he entered the United States Army. He served in France and Germany with the 82nd Airborne Division. His outfits were the honor guard in Berlin and Frankfurt Germany, at head quarters until they returned home, November 1945 to Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After release from rehabilitation hospital and was discharged in 1947. He returned to Berea College and met his beloved wife of 57 years and was married in the Presbyterian Church in Hollister, Missouri, August 19, 1948. After college at Southwest Missouri State he was employed at McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Industry until he retired in 1982 from St. Louis, Missouri. He retired and moved to Cook Station, Missouri, Crawford County. He belonged to the Clan Hamilton Society, the American Legion, The Gateway Chapter of 82nd Airborne Division in St. Louis, County, Missouri and Steelville, Missouri. He taught Sunday School, worked with Jr. High, Senior High Youth Groups at Mound Ridge Church Camp and was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church. He and his wife attended many WWII reunions as well as high school, college, family reunions and Scottish Games. He had great love for his family and friends. His Christian faith was always peace oriented. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, William Hamilton, John Hamilton, Butler Hamilton, and Carl Hamilton; and one sister Lillie Hammond. Those who survive to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Mary Sue Hamilton of their home in Cook Station; one sister, Marie Clark and husband Gordon of Pikeville, Kentucky; sister-in-law Deda Hamilton of McDowell, Kentucky; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Rutherford "Rudy" B. Hamilton laid in state 10:30 a.m. until the time of service, Monday, August 8, 2005 at the Presbyterian Church, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2005 at the Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mary Arnold officiating. Musical selections were provided by Rob Bowness assisted by Deloris Bell on the organ. Committal prayers and interment were in the Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Henry Adams, Rob Bowness, Rick Clark, Billy Hamilton, Curtis Hamilton and Jim Hammond. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Steven Eric Johnson Steven Eric Johnson of Cuba, Missouri was born May 10, 1959 in Omaha, Nebraska to the union of Marvin Oren Johnson, Jr., and Edna Guy Johnson and passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2005 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 46 years and 3 months. Steven was a factory worker for Precision Metals in Sullivan. Steven is preceded in death by his father Marvin Oren Johnson, Jr., one brother Larry Abnet and grandfather Roy Lawson. Those who survive are his mother Edna Johnson, one son Steven Eric Johnson, Jr., sisters Marva Simon and Patricia Gilbert one brother Richard Johnson and grandmother Frances Lawson. Visitation was held Thursday, August 11, 2005 at Britton Funeral Home in Cuba from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held Friday, August 12 at 11 a.m. at Britton Funeral Home in Cuba. Interment was in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville. Jack B. Oaker Jack B. Oaker of Cuba, Missouri was born January 30, 1933 in St. James, Missouri to the union of Joseph Oaker and Ruth Tungate Oaker, and passed away on Friday, August 12, 2005 at St. John's Mercy Health System in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 72 years 6 months and 12 days. Jack was an electrician for US Steel and Georgia Pacific before retiring in 1995. Jack served in the Air Force from 29 December 1950 until 29 February 1960. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Joseph Oaker. Those who survive to mourn his loss are his wife Lavada (nee Breece) Oaker, one daughter Debbie Brunn, four sons Jack Jr. and Jeffery Oaker, Charles and wife (Cathy) Schroyer and Mark Schroyer, one brother John and wife June Oaker four sisters Norma Gnemi, Kathleen Thien, Olline Branson and Sandra Griffith, 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Visitation was held Sunday, August 14, 2005 at Britton Funeral Home in Cuba from 4 to 9 p.m. Funeral service was held Monday, August 15th at 1 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home in Cuba. Interment was in St. James Cemetery, St. James, Missouri with full military honors.
