Joseph Charles Eaton
Joseph Charles Eaton was born Tuesday January 24, 1933, at
Elvins, Missouri, a son of the late John and Flossie Marie (Tinsley)
Eaton.
He entered eternal life Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at the
home of his daughter, Stacy, near Bixby, Missouri, at the age of 71 years,
7 months and 1 day.
In addition to his parents, a brother and a sister have gone
on to meet the Lord.
Joe attended the Lighthouse Gospel Tabernacle, Viburnum,
Missouri
He enlisted in the United States Navy and served for ten
years. During this time he was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal,
Europe, Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his six
devoted children. Belinda Stulce of Rolla, Missouri, Joe Eaton and wife
Sherri of Black, Missouri, Teri Craig and Sheri Reynolds both of Viburnum,
Missouri, John Eaton and wife Lora of Steelville, Missouri, Stacy and
husband Bobby Dotson of Bixby, Missouri; one sister, Sharon and husband
Bob House of St. Louis, Missouri; many grandchildren and great
grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He
will be greatly missed.
Joseph Charles Eaton lay in state after 10 a.m. Thursday
August 26, 2004, at the First Assembly of God Church, Viburnum, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. at the Church with Rev.
Sharon Hedrick and Rev. David Conger officiating. Musical selections were
provided by Rev. Hedrick vocalist and Linda Hayworth pianist
Committal prayers and interment with full military honors
provided by Missouri Honors Program were at Czar Cemetery, Rural Viburnum,
Missouri.
Serving as pallbearers were Tom Campbell, Brad Dotson, Jesse
Hedrick, Johnny Miller, Art Oberlin and Kenny Sumpter.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Elnora Ruth LaRonge
Elnora Ruth LaRonge nee Setzer was born Monday, March 4, 1935,
at Cherryville, Missouri, a daughter of the late Howard Newton and Nina
Mamie Setzer (nee Morrison).
She entered eternal rest Wednesday, August 24, 2004, at the
home of her daughter, Becky, at Hillsboro, Missouri at the age of 69
years, 5 months and 21 days.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her
husband, John LaRonge; one son, David Boyd; two brothers, Everett and
Howard Lee Setzer; and one sister, Evelyn Setzer.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her children,
Thomas Howard Boyd and fiancée Mary Kinard of Lemay, Missouri, Angela Kay
LaRonge of Davisville, Missouri, and Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Myers and
husband Darren of Hillsboro, Missouri; two sisters, Patricia Sneed and
husband Gary of Cherryville, Missouri, and Verna Setzer of Dixon,
Missouri; two sister-in-laws, Darlene Setzer of Steelville, Missouri and
Leatha Setzer of Cherryville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Cory Green,
Kimberly Dawn Boyd, Daniele Nicole Boudreaux, Andra Michelle Boudreaux,
Tina Marie Paul, Thomas Bullock and Rachael Elizabeth Paul; six
great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many
friends.
Elnora Ruth LaRonge lay in state 5-8 p.m. Saturday, August 28,
2004 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral
services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 28, 2004, in the Britton Chapel
with Rev. Clarence Morrison officiating. Musical selections were provided
by her son, Thomas H. Boyd, vocalist/guitarist. Eulogies were given by Lyn
Mayer and Lorriane Whorton.
Committal prayers and interment were in Freeman Cemetery,
Cherryville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Josh Barker, Thomas
Bullock, Mike Driemeier, Joe Setzer, Joey Setzer and Kenny Setzer.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Larry G. Murphy, Jr.
Larry G. Murphy, Jr. of Cook Station, Missouri was born on
Tuesday, January 30, 1962 in Granite City, Illinois to Larry Gail Murphy,
Sr. and Patsy Ann Brown Murphy. He passed away from the result of a
traffic accident on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at the age of 42 years, 6
months, and 25 days.
Larry was united in marriage to Tammy Myatt on September 29,
1983 in University City, Missouri and to this union one daughter was born.
Larry was previously employed at the Ford Motor Company in St. Louis and
was a member of the UAW (United Auto Workers Union).
He has lived in Cook Station for the last seven years where he
has been a member of the Steelville Country Club, and the NRA. He enjoyed
hunting, fishing, and most of all being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his father Larry Gail Murphy, Sr.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his daughter Ashley
Nicole Murphy of Cook Station, Missouri; his mother Pat Murphy of Granite
City, Illinois; two brothers Tim Murphy and Jim Murphy, both of Granite
City, Illinois; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Visitation was Friday, August 27, 2004 from 6-8 p.m. at Hutson
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were Saturday, August 28, 2004 at 11 a.m. at
Hutson Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri with Bro. Dennis Mounce
officiating. Burial was at Carr Cemetery, Cook Station, Missouri.
All arrangements under the direction of the Hutson Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Clara Genevieve Stephan Slowensky
Clara Genevieve Stephan Slowensky was born January 13, 1908 in
Steelville, Missouri. Daughter of Reinhard and Mayme Stephan and sister of
Relfe A. Stephan.
She graduated from Cuba High School and attended college at
Southwest Missouri State Teachers College and Stephens College in
Columbia, Missouri.
She married Joseph Andrew Slowensky in 1930 and they had three
children, Joseph Stephan Slowensky, now of Houston, Texas, Willa Sue
Rathgeb and Relfe Theodore Slowensky, both now of Royal Palm Beach,
Florida.
Joe, her husband of 50 years, passed away in 1980. Clara
worked as a teacher most of her life, teaching for a short time in Cuba,
Missouri.
She and her family lived in Houston, Texas during the second
World War from 1943 until 1947, while her husband worked in a wartime
synthetic rubber production plant.
Upon returning to Cuba in 1947, Clara and Joe purchased and
operated the Red and White Food Store for several years.
Joe then accepted a job with John Morrell Meat Packing in
1953, and they moved to Ottumwa, Iowa.
She later taught at Horace Mann Elementary School in Ottumwa,
until her retirement, when she and her husband moved back to Cuba,
Missouri.
Clara later moved to West Palm Beach, Florida several years
after the death of her husband and after a few years in a retirement
community she suffered a stroke. She was then cared for by her daughter,
Sue, and son-in-law, Jack, at their home.
For the past year she resided at the Royal Manor Nursing Home,
where she passed away on August 19, 2004.
She is survived by all of her children and six grandchildren,
Jeff Rathgeb, Toni Savage and John Rathgeb, all of West Palm Beach,
Florida, Joseph M. Slowensky of Trabuco Canyon, California, Amy McVay of
Slidell, Louisiana and Laura Stanley of Houston, Texas.
Clara enjoyed a special relationship with her granddaughter
Toni, who often provided extra care and companionship for her when she was
in her final year of life at the nursing home.
She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in Cuba
and Ottumwa. Clara was returned to Cuba, Missouri where she was laid to
rest next to her husband in the Kinder Cemetery.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 11
a.m. with Gary Mace officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home
of Cuba, Missouri.
