Harry Junior Clover
Harry Junior Clover of St. James, Missouri, was born on November 10, 1934,
to Harry Franklin and Lena Mae (Basham) Clover in Aurora, Missouri and
passed away Monday, August 24, 2009, at the Harry S Truman Veterans Hospital
in Columbia, Missouri at the age of 74 years.
He was united in marriage to Eleonora Johanna Schattauer in Ulm, Germany on
April 9, 1959. To this union one daughter was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Franklin and Lena Mae Clover;
one brother, John Clover and sister-in-law, Laura Clover.
He is survived his wife of 50 years, Eleonora, of the home in St. James,
Missouri; daughter, Mary Lee Clover of Jefferson City, Missouri; two
brothers, Clifford Clover and wife Joan of Harrisburg, Arkansas and Lee W.
Clover and wife Anita of St. James, Missouri; and his beloved dogs, Mindy
and Misty; other relatives and friends.
Graveside military services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday,
August 29, 2009, at the Ozark Memorial Gardens in Rolla, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in
St. James, Missouri.
Alene Ellen Draper
Alene Ellen Draper of Caledonia, Missouri was born on December 7, 1921 at
Courtois, Missouri to Cloan Gilliam and Clara (Keffer) Gilliam and passed
away August 23, 2009 at the Potosi Manor Nursing Home at the age of
87 years, 8 months and 16 days.
Alene loved taking care of people, going fishing, camping, shopping and
going to church to sing.
She liked making pies, dumpings and dinner rolls. She loved cooking for the
boys so they could eat after hunting.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cloan and Clara Gilliam; her
husband Arthur Draper; two sons, James Draper and Louie Draper; great
granddaughter, Casey Hochstatter; five sisters, Ona Britton, Bessie Hensley,
Irene Blair, Lucille Reeves and Thelma Martin; four brothers, Holmer
Gilliam, Loman Gilliam, Herman Gilliam and Howard Gilliam.
She is survived by a son, Edgar Draper and wife Margaret of Caledonia,
Missouri; daughter, Nancy Greenwalt and husband Roger of Belgrade, Missouri;
two daughters-in-law, Reva Draper of Mineral Point, Missouri and Patsy Draper
of Belgrade, Missouri; sister, Anna Mae Vance of Steelville, Missouri;
brother, Purn Gilliam and wife Delorise of Davisville, Missouri;
12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the
DeClue Family Chapel with Rev. Kevin Kappler, Rev. Carol Brown and
Rev. Oscar Barton officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Rodney Greenwalt, Jeremy Greenwalt, Christopher
Kappler, Jason Draper, Curtis Draper and Larry Greenwalt.
Interment and final prayers were held at the Caledonia Methodist Cemetery.

Louise Gilbert
Louise Gilbert of Spanish Lake, Missouri was born Monday, February 23, 1942
in Crawford County to the union of Leonard M. and Alice M. (nee Peeters)
Licklider and passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Fenton, Missouri at
the age of 67 years, 6 months and 3 days.
Louise was united in marriage to James Gilbert and to this union four
children were born.
Louise worked as a night stocker for Walmart the last four years. In her
spare time she enjoyed yard work, crafts, sewing and crocheting. But what
she truly enjoyed most was spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gilbert; parents, Leonard
and Alice Licklider; other relatives and friends.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Gilbert and friend Jane of Troy,
Missouri, David and wife Jayme Gilbert of Florissant, Missouri, Cynthia
Gilbert of Florissant, Missouri and Jeffrey Gilbert of St. Louis, Missouri;
brother, Ron and wife Vicki Licklider of Washington, Missouri; two sisters,
Lori and husband Joe Graves of Beverly Hills, Florida and Shirley and
husband Peter Schmidt of Warrenton, Missouri; six grandchildren, Andy,
Andria, Ashley, Austin, Nathan and Kyle Gilbert; her favorite friend,
“Zoey” the dog; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Friday, August 28, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the
Licklider Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Gary Mace officiating. Special music
was “Amazing Grace” and “It’s a Wonderful World.”
Interment at Licklider Cemetery.

Darrell Gene Halbert
Darrell Gene Halbert of Steelville, Missouri was born on February 8, 1947
to Horace Nathan Halbert Sr. and Leona Maude Adams Halbert and passed away
on Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the age of 62 years, 6 months, and 19 days.
He married Margaret Shirley Setzer on June 15, 1996 in Viburnum, Missouri.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Darrell at one
time worked for Mike Yocum Logging, Merritts Sawmill, Echo Supply in Cuba,
Missouri, and drove a wrecker for Henry Gilliam. He worked on racecars and
enjoyed going to the races. He was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He
was a member of the Steelville American Legion and Country Club, also the
Eagles Club in Viburnum, Missouri. He enjoyed woodworking, trading and
fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Leona Halbert; wife,
Brenda Yount; father-in-law, Everett Setzer; infant brother, Johnny Lee
Halbert; sister, Mildred Lucille Arnold; brothers-in-law, Wesley Howard
Setzer, James Allen Setzer, Leonard Fudge, and Charlie Smith; other
relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife Shirley of the home; son, Mike Halbert of
Springfield, Missouri; stepchildren, Gary (Annette) Helms, Jr. of Lenox,

Anthony Alexander Howard
Anthony Alexander Howard of St. James, Missouri, infant son of Nathan
Alexander and Vivian Elizabeth (Kivette) Howard, passed away at the Phelps
County Medical Regional Center in Rolla, Missouri on Tuesday,
August 25, 2009.
He is survived by his parents, Nathan Alexander and Vivian Elizabeth
(Kivette) Howard of St. James, Missouri; grandparents, Warren and Susan
Howard of St. James, Missouri and Anita Kivette of St. James, Missouri;
and other relatives.
Graveside services were Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the family plot at
the Miles Cemetery in rural St. James, Missouri with Lynn Huggins
officiating.

Bernice Catherine James
Bernice Catherine James of Vichy, Missouri was born September 4, 1930, to
Charles and Josephine (McDonald) Viessman, and passed away August 25, 2009,
at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of
78 years.
Bernice was one of 13 children raised in Vienna by her parents. She was a
1949 graduate of Vienna High School.
In 1950, she was united in marriage to Paul James and to this union five
children were born.
The couple operated the Vichy Store for over 30 years and enjoyed gardening,
St. Louis Cardinal baseball, politics and being Democrats.
Bernice was a life-long member of Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna where
she was Communion Minister. She was a poll worker at the Vichy Precinct for
Maries County elections for over 20 years. She was a charter member of the
Golden Girls Cloggers, entertaining for many years at the State Fair, the
Ozark Extravaganza, Old Iron Works Days and many events throughout the state.
She was a member of the Vichy Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Josephine Viessman;
her husband, Paul; two sisters, Louise Viessman and Virginia Hefti; brothers,
Harold, James, Bernard, Norbert, Leo, Ray and Donnie Viessman.
She is survived by two daughters, Christine James of Denver, Colorado and
Laura and Stan Schiermeier of Vienna, Missouri; three sons, Bob and Pam
James of Victoria, Texas, Alan and Maria James of Sarasota, Florida and Tim
and Jennifer James of Columbia, Missouri; brothers, Anthony and Jan Viessman
of Rolla, Missouri and Charles Viessman of Chicago, Illinois; eight
grandchildren, Morgan and wife Heather, Hannah, Trevor and Emma Schiermeier,
Brendan and Rory James and Andre and Allesandra James.
Visitation was Friday, August 28, 2009, at the Rolla Chapel of the James &
Gahr Mortuary from 6-8 p.m. and also Saturday, August 29, 2009 from
10-11 a.m. at the Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna, Missouri.
Funeral service was Saturday, August 29, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Visitation
Catholic Church in Vienna, Missouri with Reverend Msgr. Marion
Makarewicz officiating.
Interment in the Walker Cemetery.

Mabel Carmollete “Dollie” Dillon Kuncel
Dollie Kuncel was born January 9, 1905 in St. James, Missouri to William
George Dillon and Carrie (Hibler) Dillon and passed away August 23, 2009 at
the age of 104 years, 7 months and 14 days.
On March 2, 1946 Dollie was united in marriage to Charles Kuncel and he
preceded her in death on November 10, 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Carrie Dillon;
husband, Charley Kuncel; sisters, Jessie Hart and Ruth Greig; brothers,
Johnny, George Austin, Tommy, James Dillon and an infant brother, Allen.
She is survived by her nephew, Tom Dillon and wife, Jeanne of Salem,
Missouri; great nephews, Matt Dillon, Tyler Dillon, Martin Hart and wife
Joyce, all of Salem, Missouri, Thomas Weaver and wife Kim of Columbia,
Illinois, Charles Wood of Florida, James R. Dillon and wife Kerry of Kansas

Rev. Harry H. Missey
Reverend Harry Harding Missey of Leasburg, Missouri was born on
April 28, 1921 to Ambrose James Missey and Parry Jane (Richardson) Missey
on Crow’s Creek near Bourbon, Missouri and passed away suddenly at the
Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan, Missouri, on Wednesday,
August 26, 2009 at the age of 88 years.
He was a life-long resident of the Bourbon area. He gave his heart to the
Lord at an early age and felt the call to the ministry at the age of nine.
He was inducted into the U.S. Army on August 10, 1943 and served until
July 12, 1948. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, three
cluster European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, World War II
Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Honorable Service Lapel Button, Good
Conduct Medal and Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar.
He returned home to become a school teacher at Possum Hollow School for a
year, then in 1945 became an ordained Baptist minister at Cross Roads
Baptist Church at Leasburg, Missouri with the Rev. Henry Butts and Brother
Jack Ransom officiating the Ordination ceremony.
In 1948, he turned more to the Pentecostal Fundamentalist Belief and was
ordained in the Assemblies of God Churches with the District Presbyter,
Sister Rena Ivie officiating.
Then he began his own Fundamentalist Church on Highway C., outside of
Bourbon, Missouri. In 1976, he came to Cuba, Missouri to the Gospel
Lighthouse and stayed there until 1979.
Rev. Missey met Evangelist Lois Ann Carr in Cuba, Missouri in 1980 and they
were married on December 30, 1983 at the Church of the Living God with
Bishop Phillips and Mattie Ball officiating.
He became a part of the Lois Ann Carr Ministries in 1983 and went to the
Cook Station Community Church as Cook Station, Missouri to pastor in 1989
until 1992. He pastured there until he had his first heart attack and was
forced to retire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Parry Jane Missey;
son, Douglas Edward Missey; siblings, Arlie Missey, Roy Chris Missey, George
Washington Missey, James Ambrose Missey, Ethel Missey Isgriggs, Gertrude
Missey Copeland, Austin Missey and Opal Missey Nosser.
He is survived by his wife, Lois of the family home; son, Larry David Missey
and wife Delores; daughter, Machelle Harriet Mercer; one step-son, David
Wayne Ehren; four step-daughters, Joan Hoffstetter and husband Gene, Debra
Sue Neidert and husband Robert, Diahann Margaret Mocabee and husband Dale
and Denise Renee Ettinger and husband Louis; six grandchildren, Jason and
Jonathan Mercer, Bryan David Missey, Matthew Eric Missey, Stacy Lynett
Missey and Toni Lynn Bickel; eight step-grandchildren, Rick Hoffstetter,
Angie Bloomner, A.J. Weaver, Kylie Nicole Ettinger, Kody Cristopher Ettinger,
Cidni Lynn Ehren, Brodie Madison Ehren and Lisa Firestin; four great
grandchildren, Madison Rene Missey, Joshua Alan Bickel, Ella Ilene Missey

the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009 from the Eaton Funeral
Home in Sullivan, Missouri.
Interment with full military honors were held in Jefferson Barracks National
Cemetery.

Viola E. Parrish
Viola E. Parrish was born January 25, 1924 in Maries County, Missouri to
Floyd and Oma (Hutson) Moreland and passed away August 13, 2009 in
St. James, Missouri at the age of 85 years.
Viola was married to William Charles Parrish on August 12, 1942 and to
this union a son was born.
Viola was a member of the Flag Springs Church. She was a writer for the
Vichy News and enjoyed quilting, gardening, gospel singing, spending time
outdoors and on the farm, playing card games and bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Oma Moreland; husband,
William Charles Parish and brothers, Lloyd and James Moreland.
She is survived by her son Laverne Parrish and wife Claudine of St. James,
Missouri; sister, Eileen Bock and husband Arlis of Vichy, Missouri; three
grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Saturday, August 15, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at James & Gahr
Mortuary, St. James, Missouri.
Funeral services were Sunday, August 16, 2009 at 1 p.m. at James & Gahr
Mortuary in St. James, Missouri with Pastor Allen Smith and Mary Taylor
officiating.
Interment was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Vichy, Missouri.

Ruth Rugh
Ruth Rugh, 86, Farmington departed this life August 26, 2009 at the Parkland
Health Center.
She is survived by three sons, Will Rugh of Irondale, Missouri, Robert Rugh
and wife Marggie of Steelville, Missouri, Lawrence Rugh of Potosi, Missouri;
two daughters, Mary Garrison of Wayland, New York, Betty Doyle and husband
Christopher of Park Hills, Missouri; four sisters, Rose Cartee of Barnhart,
Missouri, Annie Mattlock of Barnhart, Missouri, Daisy Lowell of Viburnum,
Missouri, Josephine Cartee of Crystal City, Missouri; 12 grandchildren;
19 great grandchildren.
Visitation was Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 4:30 p.m. at DeClue Funeral
Home. Funeral service was Friday, August 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at DeClue
Chapel, Potosi, Missouri.
Interment at Redbud Memorial Gardens.

James Lynn Stafford
James Lynn Stafford of Steelville, Missouri, born January 21, 1933 to Clyde
and Lillian Stafford in Hickman, Kentucky and passed away on
Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at his home at the age of 76 years.
On May 21, 1987 in Steelville, Missouri, he was married to Agnes Bass.
James served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to January of 1958. He was employed
at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis from 1959 until his
retirement in 1988. Later, he worked for Robert “Bear” Bass and Stephan Bass
at Bass River Resort.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Stafford of Steelville, Missouri; one
brother, Gary Lee Stafford and wife Carol of Chesterfield, Missouri; two
step-sons, Robert “Bear” Bass and Stephan Bass and wife Julie of Steelville,
Missouri; three sons, David, Tim and Philipp Stafford; two step-grandsons,
Brendan and Trent Bass; nieces, Christine, Michelle and Maureen; other
relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life was held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Bass
River Resort in Steelville, Missouri with Father James Finder officiating.

John P. Stubblefield
John P. Stubblefield of Cuba, Missouri was born to Robert F. and Maude
(Hamby) Stubblefield on January 12, 1920 at Oak Hill, Missouri and passed
away Monday, August 24, 2009 at Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 89.
John was united in marriage to Mary Alice Edwards on August 30, 1952 and
together they shared 57 years of marriage.
On October 6, 1946 John enlisted in the United States Army. He served in
the Occupation of Japan until his Honorable Discharge on January 4, 1948.
He was a member of Cuba Masonic Lodge #312 A.F. & A.M. for over 50 years and
a Lifetime member of Cuba VFW Post #7147. He was also a member of Cement
Masons Local #527 St. Louis for over 40 years. In his spare time he enjoyed
fishing, hunting and playing shuffleboard with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maude Stubblefield; four
sisters, Alma and husband Reuben Souders, Ione and husband Walter Dorf,
Dora K. and husband Dick Dickerson, Dorothy and husband Walter Lee Smith;
four brothers, Robert “Bob” and wife Ellen, Andrew “Andy” and wife Lillian,
William “Bill” and wife Edna, Harvey and wife Mae Stubblefield; other
relatives and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Stubblefield of Cuba, Missouri; two
daughters, Mary Lou and husband Don Uhle of Houston, Texas and Tracy and
husband Bill Arsenault of Carlsbad, California; one son, J.C. Stubblefield of
Manhattan Beach, California; one sister, Frieda and husband Chilton Workman
of Cuba, Missouri; six grandchildren, John M. and Katie Uhle, Billy, Ryan,
Zach and Riley Arsenault; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m.

the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Katie Uhle. A medley of hymns by organist Eleanor Tucker.

Eva Schafer Thompson
Eva Schafer Thompson was born February 2, 1916 at Bunker, Missouri and
passed away August 21, 2009 at Salem, Missouri at the age of 93 years.
Eva was united in marriage to Hershel Schafer and they were the parents
of three sons. After his death, she was united in marriage to James
Thompson.
She had been a member of the Corinth Baptist Church for many years. She loved
to read and enjoyed taking care of her family.
She was preceded her by her parents, Rube and Sarah Bedwell; her husbands,
Herschel Schafer and James Thompson; two sons, Bobby and Jimmie Carol Schafer;
five brothers, Roy, Bill, Clyde, Arvil, and an infant; six sisters, Ida, Lula,
Lena, Goldie, Dean, and Daphine.
She is survived by one son, Hershel Schafer Jr. and wife Jessie of Salem,
Missouri; two daughters-in-law, Martha “Sam” Schafer of Illinois, Linda
Schafer of Salem, Missouri; one step-daughter, Joyce Ellis and husband Floyd
of Cuba, Missouri; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great
grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was August 24, 2009 in the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel with
Bro. Dwayne Cartwright officiating. Music was by Debbie Hines and Brenda
Nash. Destany Schafer read a poem.
Serving as pallbearers were: Ricky, Dwayne, Joey, and Shannon Schafer, Matt
and Jeff Yerk.
Interment was in the Green Forest Cemetery.
