David Charles Gauger
David Charles Gauger of Yuma, Arizona formerly of Cuba, Missouri was born
April 22, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to Elmer and Florence Gauger and passed
away July 25, 2008 in Yuma, Arizona.
David was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps for six and one half years.
“Semper Fi.” He served two tours in Okinawa and also Korea. He was selected to
become a diplomatic courier but was relieved of his assignment due to a heart
murmur.
After his Honorable Discharge from the Marines, he married Karleen Weber in
October 1962. He then worked in an oxygen generating plant, auto mechanical
field, selling tools, and driving a delivery truck until his heart attack.
His vision then would not allow him to drive again forcing him into early
retirement. David and Karleen then moved to Cuba, Missouri where they quickly
made more friends.
After the death of his wife, David moved to Arizona where he resided with his
brother during the winter. He learned to love the desert and the heat.
Summers were spent with his sister Viola in Illinois and Kathy in Wisconsin
where he loved their Northwoods cottage on the lake.
David was a devoted fan of the Cubs and Bears, but did root for the Packers
when they would play each other. He also loved to argue and tease his friends
in Cuba about the Rams and Cardinals
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years; son, Robert; parents;
sister, Alice; four brothers-in-laws; his mother and father-in-law.
He is survived by his brother, Elmer Gauger of Yuma, Arizona; sisters, Viola
Stevens of Beecher, Illinois, Jacqueline McDonald of Midlothian, Illinois,
Marion Bak of Portland, Oregon, Kathleen (Rick) Davisson of Combined Locks,
Wisconsin; brother-in-law, Larry (Donna) Weber of Cuba, Missouri; other
relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited for a time of sharing on Friday,
September 12, 2008 from 6-7 p.m. at Britton Funeral Home,
904 W. Washington St. Cuba, Missouri.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 12, 2008 at 7 p.m. at Britton
Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Bailey, Sr. officiating.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba,
Missouri.
Ruby Frances West
Ruby Frances West of Sullivan, Missouri, was born on December 22, 1921 to
Burton Alex and Shrilda Jane (Luttrell) Cain and she passed away at Gasconade
Manor Nursing Home, Owensville, Missouri on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the
age of 86 years.
She had lived the majority of her life in the Sullivan area except for a short
time when she lived at Rockaway Beach, Missouri.
On March 29, 1941 she was united in marriage to George West and to this union
four children were born.
She was employed as an inspector at the former International Shoe Company in
Sullivan, Missouri and later at the former Midwest Shoe Company.
She enjoyed working around the younger people at work because it “kept her
feeling young.” For a time she was a member of the First Assembly of God in
Sullivan, Missouri and later attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle in
Owensville, Missouri. She later transferred her membership to Covenant Praise
Church, Cuba, Missouri. She enjoyed fishing and the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son, Dale West and
son-in-law, Dewayne Lambing.
She is survived by three daughters, Betty Lawrence and husband Jim of Gerald,
Missouri, Linda Lambing of St. Peters, Missouri and Viva Hawk and husband
Duane of Gerald, Missouri; 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; three
great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008 at the Chapel of
the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri with Pastor Mark Smith officiating.
Interment in the Buffalo Cemetery in Sullivan, Missouri.
William Calvin “Tad” Worley
William Calvin “Tad” Worley was born June 13, 1922, in Cherryville, Missouri,
to Mabel (Freeman) Worley and passed away Saturday, August 30, 2007 in the
Golden Living Center, St. James, Missouri at the age of 86 years, 2 months,
and 17 days.
He was united in marriage to Georgia Pearl Hutson on March 8, 1946, at
Cherryville, Missouri. To this union two daughters were born.
He was two years old when his mother died. His grandparents Nathan and Electa
Belle Freeman raised him. At 13 Tad was already “hiring out” and went to live
and work a short distance from home. Later, after living in Chicago, Illinois
for a short time, he returned to Crawford County where he met and married
Georgia (he called her Georgie) and raised his family.
Georgia was already a Christian and “Tad” accepted Jesus as his Savior a few
months after they were married.
Rejected by the armed forced during WWII because of a medical condition, Tad
went to work in the CCC to do his part for the cause. He always tried to keep
up with world and local news and be politically informed. He considered his
“vote” a privilege as well as a responsibility.
About 35 years of his work experience was in the timber business; cutting
ties, props, cordwood, firewood, stave bolts or logs. He also dug graves all
over the county “regularly” for about 10 years (afterward by request). He was
preceded in death by his wife; his mother and grandparents; his brother,
Orville S. (Buster) and wife Helen Worley; sisters-in-law, Juanita Land and
Dot Hutson; brothers-in-law, James Weaver, Herman Bilbrey, Harold Land, and
Warren Evans.
He is survived by daughters, Jean Worley of Steelville, Missouri and Janet
and husband Reggie Noot of rural Dunnegan, Missouri; two grandchildren,
Rachel and husband Alan Lockhart and Nathan and wife Christa Noot all of
Bolivar, Missouri; one great granddaughter, Schyler Lockhart; two great
grandsons Kody and Kaden Noot ,all of Bolivar, Missouri; an aunt, Ethel
Kerbler of Steelville, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Lueretta Bilbrey of
rural Steelville, Missouri and Leota Evans of Steelville, Missouri; one
brother-in-law, Noble (Junior) Hutson and wife Linda of Cherryville,
Missouri; and numerous other relatives and friends, and best friend,
Garland Eaton.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the
Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Len Young
officiating. Special music of “Farther Along,” “Blessed Assurance” and
“What A Day That Will Be” were sung and played by Rob, Alice and Mike
Morton. Prelude and postlude were played by Dennis Cottrell. Remembrances
were given by daughters, Jeannie Worley and Janet Noot.
Casket bearers were Sonny Eaton, Thomas Eaton, Kim Eaton, Logan Eaton,
Larry Eaton and Justin Eaton.
Committal prayer and burial were in the First Baptist Church Cemetery at
Cherryville, Missouri.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of
Steelville, Missouri.
