Asher nee Worley was born Wednesday, October 14, 1914 at Sligo, Missouri, a daughter of the late Christopher Worley and Cora Lee Worley. She entered eternal rest Thursday, September 5, 2002 at the Cuba Manor, Cuba, Missouri. On July 10, 1934, Hazel was united in marriage to William Edward Asher. Fourteen children were born to the union. Bill proceeded her in death as did two sons, John Leslie Asher and William (Billy) Rodney Asher, a son-in-law, Jerry McMillen, two grandchildren, John and Tim McMillen and a sister-in-law, Helen Worley. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are 12 children: Fritz William Asher and wife Wanda of Cherryville, Missouri, Bonnie Grace and husband Elmer Jones of Steelville, Missouri, Ronald Edward Asher and wife Lindel also of Steelville, Missouri, Wanda Sue McMillen of Texas, Judy Ann and husband Louis Dicus of Steelville, Missouri. Bessie Tina Asher of Springfield, Missouri, Shirley Louise and husband "Buck" Parrett of Texas, Linda Leah and husband Bill Dodd, Cathy Lynn and husband Brian Tucker, all of Cuba, Missouri; Karen Kay and husband Roberts Sikes of Steelville, Missouri, Randy Dean Asher and wife Amy of Cuba, Missouri. Forty-four grandchildren, 68 great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren. Also remaining are five sisters and four brothers: Pauline Hedrick of Potosi, Missouri, Bill Worley, Leonard Worley, June Emily, all of Farmington, Missouri; Joe Worley of Wauchula, Florida, Faye Connell of Ellsinore, Missouri, Earl Worley of East Monrow, Louisiana, Opal Twomey of Fredericktown, Missouri and Jim Worley of Arizona; other relatives and many friends. Hazel A. Asher lay in state from 4­9 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2002 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2002 at the Britton Chapel with Rev. Alan Teal officiating. April Greer provided music. Brian Tucker read a poem. Interment was in the Earney Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Josh Asher, Rodney Asher, Wade Asher, Rick Bray, Jason Chipman, Edward Cox, David Dicus, John Dodd and Tony Gebbia. Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Shirley D. Dickens Shirley D. Dickens, 68, St. Joseph, Mo., died Friday, August 30, 2002, at her home, after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Dickens was born September 6, 1933, in Mt. Vernon, Mo. She was a 1951 graduate of Dixon, Mo. High School. She had been a resident of St. Joseph since 1960. Mrs. Dickens was a homemaker and a member of McCarthy Baptist Church, where she was an active volunteer. She was a former member of Wyatt Park Baptist Church, where she had been a sign language interpreter for 18 years. She also signed for several courts and for patients in hospitals. She married Carl Dickens on December 24, 1950, in Dixon, Mo. He survives of the home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Elizabeth Jacques, and a sister, Betty Evans. She is also survived by a daughter, Jeanne Estep and her husband, Ron, of Lee's Summit, Mo.; a son, Larry Dickens, and his wife, Sue, of St. Joseph, Mo.; two brothers, Don Jacques, Lawson, Mo. and Joe Jacques, St. Joseph, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Baker, Independence, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jeremy Estep, Christy Trull, Jacy and Eric Dickens; one great-granddaughter, Samara Estep; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Pastor Don Combs officiating. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Eric Dickens, Jeremy Estep, Chris Trull, Ted Jacques, Paul Baker, Teddy Hudlemeyer. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hands of Hope Hospice or to the American Cancer Society. Dorothy Marie Heiman Dorothy Marie Heiman nee Preis of St. Louis, Mo. (formerly of Cuba, Mo.) was born on September 14, 1921 in St. Louis, Mo. to the union of Joseph H. Preis and Cecelia M. (Faller) Preis and passed away in St. Louis, Mo. on August 24, 2002 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 10 days. On May 9, 1942 Dorothy was united in marriage to Joseph John Heiman in Arlington, Virginia. They were happily married until he preceded her in death. When Dorothy lived in Cuba she was a member of Holy Cross Church, worked at the Cuba Rexall and for Rudy's Package Store. After her husband's death she moved to St. Louis to be closer to her daughter. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her three sons Gregory (Joanne) Heiman, Glen (Marianna) Heiman and Rick (Marcia) Heiman; three daughters Dottie (Mike) Durbin, Jeri Rille and Rochelle (Randy) Hodge; one brother Joseph R. Preis; 12 grandchildren, Lindsay and Nicholas Durbin, Nicole Howard, Anna, Matthew Rille, Rachel, Jeremy, Joe, Meadow, Joe G. and Gregg Heiman and Kristie Gerson; four great-grandchildren, Jake and Logan Heiman and Braden and Kyler Gerson; other relatives and many friends. Dorothy was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Dorothy M. Hazel Gleamon Ritchhart Hazel Gleamon Ritchhart (nee Gearhart), one of nine children, was born Friday, July 22, 1904 at Sligo, Missouri, a daughter of the late Myrtle (Walker) Gearhart and James Frederick Gearhart. She entered eternal rest Monday, September 2, 2002 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 98 years, 1 month and 10 days. On February 28, 1920, at Steelville, Missouri, Hazel was united in marriage to Moorea Roy "M.R." Ritchhart. Two daughters were born to this union. They enjoyed over 68 years together, before his death, November 18, 1988. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her two devoted daughters, Lorraine Walker of Tallahassee, Florida and Geraldine Goewert of St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jacqueline Meyer (deceased March 21, 2002), Gordon Paton of Freehold, New Jersey, Clyde Taylor, April Taylor and Garrett Walker, all of Florida; five great grandchildren: Sheri Staughn of Kirkwood, Missouri, Stacie Guirl of Glendale, Missouri, Zachary Taylor and Laurel Taylor of Tallahassee, Florida, Taylor Burg of Quincy, Florida. She entered eternal rest Friday, August 30, 2002, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Sullivan, Mo., at the age of 91 years, 7 months and 29 days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Fannon and her second husband, Lester Schrader; one son, Elmer Fannon and one daughter, Betty Jean Silver and three sisters, Maude, Bertha and Mona. Among those who remain to mourn her passing is her daughter, Mary (Mickey) and husband Troy Gamble of New Orleans, Louisiana; a daughter-in-law, Betty Fannon of St. Louis, Mo., a son-in-law, Dan Silver of Matthew, Mo.; one brother, Henry Leftridge and wife Darlene, one sister, Missouri and husband Ray Miner, all of Cabot, Arkansas. Elbert "Al" John Schumer Elbert "Al" John Schumer of Cuba, Mo. was born on November 1, 1920 at Qulin, Mo. to the union of Edward Schumer and Clara (Schlattman) Schumer and passed away suddenly at his home near Cuba, Mo. on September 4, 2002 at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 3 days. On August 28, 1954 Al was united in marriage to Joyce Poe. One son, Danny, and two daughters, Darlene and Denise were born to this union. Al was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Cletus Schumer and two sisters Rosalia Renaud and Loretta Finn. Al was a retired electrician from General Motors in Flint, Michigan. He was a long time resident of Crawford County. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his loving wife Joyce Schumer; one son Danny J. Mildred Gladine Bell Woodrome Mildred Gladine Bell Woodrome (nee Morrison) was born Thursday, June 8, 1916, at Cherryville, Mo., a daughter of the late John Everett Morrison and Elsie Madge (Callahan) Morrison. She entered eternal rest Friday, August 30, 2002, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center, Sullivan, at the age of 86 years, 2 months and 22 days. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Emory E. Bell, one brother, Kenneth Morrison, and one sister Ina Mae Eaton and two brothers-in-law, William "Bill" Eaton and Howard Setzer. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her four sons and two daughters; Lois Jean Anderson and husband Lenard of Biloxi, Mississippi, James E. Bell of Steelville, Mo., Jack E.
