She grew up and attended school in Japan and Sullivan, Missouri. Nancy married Warner "Sam" Bass in 1956. Nancy worked at several manufacturing companies over the years, as well as working independently as a Home Health Aide to help the elderly. She also ran and operated an ice cream truck. Nancy enjoyed dancing, camping, fishing, crocheting, gardening and raising her mums. She had accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Spring Bluff Baptist Church. Nancy was also a member of the Eagles and was involved at the VFW. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Frances Lawrence; an infant sister; and one great great grandchild. Barbara Jean Beckett Barbara Jean Beckett (nee Bell) of Bourbon, Missouri was born on February 3, 1939 to Raymond and Ethel (Richardson) Bell in Sullivan, Missouri and passed away on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the age of 79 years. She grew up and attended school in Sullivan, Missouri. As a child she worked at Shorty Wilkerson's Malt Shop and sold tickets at the local movie theatre. Barbara was united in marriage to Harold Beckett on May 11, 1956 in Gainesville, Texas. Barbara devoted her time to raising her children in the home that Harold built for them and helping on the family farm. After the kids grew older, Barbara worked at the Bourbon Schools as a cook and later at Paramount Headwear for 15 years. Barbara liked to bake and read in her spare time. She enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball and Wheel of Fortune on TV, playing video games, card games and talking with friends on the phone or thru Facebook. She attended First Assembly of God Church in Sullivan, Missouri as a youth then later attended in Bourbon, Missouri. Barbara was a woman of strong faith, prayed daily for all in need, and believed everything in life was a part of God's plan. Ralph Edward Brooks Ralph Edward Brooks was born February 17, 1946 in Rolla, Missouri and passed away August 31, 2018 at the age of 72 years. After graduating from John F. Hodge High School, Ed married Gloria Jean Brooks and joined the U.S. Air Force serving two tours in the Vietnam War and a recipient of The Purple Heart. Following in his father's footsteps as a Power Lineman, Ed worked and retired from CenturyTel as a Telephone Lineman. Ed truly enjoyed his career and loved sharing many stories, passing his love and passion of the trade onto his grandson, Josh, whom is now a Power Lineman. Throughout his life, Ed, enjoyed his family business, Video World and Tanning Spa, as well as raising Siberian Huskies for many years in Bourbon, Missouri. His hobbies also included being devoted to God and his church, golfing, reading, leather work, traveling, seeing new places and things and anything that included spending time with his wife, Velma, whom he married June 23, 2012. Miia was setup on a blind date with Jasper Friend when she was 14 years old, since then they have shared 25 years of friendship and have loved life together for 15 years. Miia was a member of the pool league in Steelville and a proud member of Gun Owners of America. Miia enjoyed gardening, shooting, reading and cooking. She loved horseback riding and show jumping. She was very creative and crafty. She enjoyed designing clothes, sewing, weaving, painting and was actively involved in local Art Shows with her paintings and quilting. Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Air Force (1952-1956). On January 29 1966 Ralph married Janice Moore. Ralph believed in a good education. He earned his P.H.D. in Education and started his career at Cuba, Missouri as the Jr. High School Principal, he later moved to St. Louis, Missouri to the Special School District where he served as Regional Director until he retired. Dr. Ralph Herron Jr. was a published playwright and published author. His book, Duty, Honor and Adventure was published this year. He was a member of the Mount Carmel Baptist Church of the Lake, he enjoyed reading and working outside. He enjoyed living at the Lake of the Ozarks, the beautiful surroundings and peacefulness that allowed him to do what he loved, reading and writing. Chris was a loveable person. He was loved by all people. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially with his family. His father described him as all country. He loved hunting, fishing, partying, mud trucks, 4 wheelers and side by sides. Many summer nights were spent on the rivers camping. The only things that made his outside time any better was spending it with his nephews. He is survived by his parents, Harry and Patricia of St. James, Missouri; two sisters, Katina Doyle and husband Willard Sr. of Linn, Missouri and Felicia Schmidt and husband Mark of Bland, Missouri; nephews, Willard Jr., Jonathon, Tyler, Nathan, Nathaniel, Cordell and Koltin; great nephew, Lawson Doyle; other relatives and friends. He attended Belle High School. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Jones Funeral Home Chapel in St. James, Missouri with Terry Hogan officiating. Pallbearers were Willard Doyle, Jr., Nathaniel Schmidt, Tyler Schmidt, Peter Heltin, Nathan Schmidt and Mark Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers were Cordell Schmidt, Jonathon Doyle and Koltin Schmidt. Interment was in the High Gate Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Paul S. Powell Paul S. Powell of Farmington, Missouri was born July 18, 1937 in West Plains, Missouri to Bradford and Irene (Strickler) Powell passed away September 3, 2018 at the age of 81 years. Paul was an ordained United Methodist minister who served many churches throughout the state of Missouri and was an advocate for gay rights. He was the former chaplain at the Farmington, Potosi and Bonne Terre Correctional Facilities for over 15 years. After retiring from ministry he had his own garage door hanging business. Paul enjoyed beekeeping and loved volunteering at the Farmington Pet Adoption Center. He was a talented seamstress who made all the girls dresses as they were growing up. Paul was a man of many talents, a jack of all trades and a gentle giant with a heart of gold. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bradford and Irene Powell; wife, Peggy Sue (West) Powell on May 5, 2017; and his daughter, Ashley Elaine (Powell) McKay. He is survived by his four children, Nancy Loughary of Farmington, Missouri, Lynda (Bill) Marshall of St. James, Missouri, Tony Powell of Sullivan, Missouri and Matthew Powell of St. Charles, Missouri; six grandchildren; four siblings, John (Janet) Powell of Princenton, New Jersy, David (Lynn) Powell of New Mexico, James (Marie) Powell of Columbia, Missouri and Mary (Tom) Duzan of Monroe, Louisiana; other relatives and friends. Harold Junior "Smitty" Smith Harold Junior "Smitty" Smith of Steelville, Missouri was born on Wednesday, November 29, 1933 in Hill Point, Wisconsin to Harold G. and Clara Mae Reisler Smith and passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 26 days. Smitty left home early to work on his uncle's farm in Wisconsin before serving our country honorably in the United States Army. He met Jacqueline "Tootie" Livesay while he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Misouri and later married her in Dubuque, Iowa. Smitty and Tootie moved to Wisconsin soon after getting married and stayed there for many years. Later they moved to Steelville, Missouri where he built their home with the help of family and friends. While in the Army Smitty drove big Army trucks and recently said his other job was "to drive the General where ever he wanted to go." He worked many various jobs that included working at a factory in Wisconsin, a lock joint pipe company, working as a mechanic for Phillips 66, ran a gas station in Fenton and managed the old Phillips 66 service station in Steelville. He had worked for Crawford County and the City of Steelville, Missouri. He started and ran D&H Outdoor Furnace Co. for many years. Smitty was a previous member of the VFW in Steelville. He loved to make wood furnaces. He had a pleasant personality, was quite the jokester and loved to pester Tootie He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Clara Mae Smith; parents-in-law, Ralph and Florentine Livesay; sister, Betty Erickson; brothers, Ken Smith, Jerry Smith, Ervin Smith and Billy Smith; and brothers-in-law, Clarence DeMars, Lyman Fosdick, LeRoy Hooker, Verne Long, Bobby Livesay and Jerry Livesay. "Jerry Talamante Jerome A. "Jerry" Talamante of Cuba, Missouri was born Wednesday, November 30, 1949 at St. Louis, Missouri and passed away on Friday, August 31, 2108 at the age of 68 years. Jerry proudly served in the United State Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Jerry married Patricia Ann "Patty" Boswell on July 27, 1982 at St. Louis, Missouri. Jerry retired in 2013 as an automotive technician (mechanic) from the union after forty years of dedicated service. He worked for Suntrup Nissan and other Nissan dealerships during his working career. In his spare time, and after retirement, he enjoyed fishing, boating and being at the lake. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing pool, bowling, boat racing and drag racing. Jerry was known for his sense of humor. He loved spending time with his four-legged child, Abbey. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Patty Talamante. He is survived by his children, Jessica Talamante and fiancˇ Chris Baker of Cuba, Missouri and Mathew and wife Lindsey Talamante of Viburnum, Missouri; two step sons, Jason and wife Amanda Effinger of Smithville, North Carolina and Joe and wife Amanda Effinger of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Gracelyn, Audrey and Vincent; five step grandchildren, Gabriele, Madison, Tyler, Joey and Olivia; other relatives and friends. Dolores Marjorie Tarnowski Dolores Marjorie Tarnowski nee Caldwell of Cuba, Missouri was born on Monday, October 25, 1926 in Quincy, Illinois to Albert Leslie and Lillian Close Caldwell and passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 10 days. Dolores married Stanley J. Tarnowski Sr. on October 25, at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, St. Louis, Missouri. Dolores was an active member of the Holy Cross Church, Cuba, Missouri. She was a past member and committee chairwoman of the Cuba Democrat Club. For the last few years she was employed at the Crawford County Historical Society as a tour guide. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lillian Caldwell; husband, Stanley J. Tarnowski Sr.; daughter, Pamela K. Nichols; grandson, Jason Tarnowski; aunts, Lil Auxberger and Elsie Stevens and uncle, Ray and aunt Irma Close. She is survived by her sons, S. Joseph (Deborah) Tarnowski of West Chester, Pennsylvania, Stephen (Barbara) A. Tarnowski and Richard (Kathi) G. Larry Wwehmeyer Larry Wehmeyer of Cuba, Missouri was born on January 10, 1948 to Kenneth E. and Janet (Nolte) Wehmeyer in Warrensburg, Missouri and passed away on August 16, 2018 at the age of 70 years. He grew up on a farm near Carrollton, Missouri. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ in Grand Pass, Missouri.
