Asher nee Worley was born Wednesday, October 14, 1914, at Sligo, Mo., a daughter of the late Christopher Worley and Cora Lee Worley. She entered eternal rest Thursday, September 5, 2002, at the Cuba Manor, Cuba, Mo. On July 10, 1934, Hazel was united in marriage to William Edward Asher. Fourteen children were born to this union. Bill preceded her in death as did two sons, John Leslie Asher and William (Billy) Rodney Asher, a son-in-law, Jerry McMillen, two grandsons, John and Tim McMillen, and a sister-in-law, Helen Worley. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are twelve children; Fritz William Asher and wife Ann of Hermann, Mo., Robert (Bob) E. Lee Asher and wife Wanda of Cherryville, Mo., Bonnie Grace and husband Elmer Jones of Steelville, Mo., Ronald Edward Asher and wife Lindel, also of Steelville, Mo., Wanda Sue McMillen of Texas, Judy Ann and husband Louis Dicus of Steelville, Mo. Bessie Tina Asher of Springfield, Mo., Shirley Louise and husband "Buck" Parrett of Texas, Linda Leah and husband Bill Dodd, Lynn and husband Brian Tucker, all of Cuba, Mo., Karen Kay and husband Robert Sikes of Steelville, Mo., Randy Dean Asher and wife Amy of Cuba, Mo., forty-four grandchildren, sixty-eight great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. Hazel A. Asher lay in state 4-9 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2002, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 7, 2002, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Alan Teal officiating. April Greer provided the music. Brian Tucker read a poem. Interment was in Earney Cemetery, Cherryville, Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Josh Asher, Rodney Asher, Wade Asher, Rick Bray, Jason Chipman, Edward Cox, Danial Dicus, John Dodd and Tony Gebbia. Ray Paul Bryan Ray Paul Bryan of Pace, Florida was born on August 24, 1945 in Leasburg, Missouri to the union of Paul Bryan and Lorraine (Perschbacher) Bryan and passed away on September 5, 2002 at Pace, Florida. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Brian Stites. Ray went to the Cuba School. He served in the Army of the United States of America and did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the Leasburg American Legion. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his son Graig Bryan of Pace, Florida; two sisters, Sharon Thomas and husband Walter of Orlando, Florida, Sherry Stites of Cuba, Missouri; one brother, Rex Bryan and wife Debbie of Orlando, Florida; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. James O. Fountain James O. Fountain of Belton, Missouri was born on February 15, 1931 at Sturgeon, Missouri and passed away on September 5, 2002 at Kansas City, Missouri at the age of 71 years 6 months and 20 days. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for 32 years with Western Union, retiring in 1988. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. Argie Alice Parrett Argie Alice Parrett nee Gibbs was born Saturday, February 17, 1923, in Hayes, Kansas, a daughter of the late George Huitt Gibbs and Myrtle Irene (Brabb) Gibbs. She departed this life Thursday, September 12, 2002, in the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Mo., at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 25 days. On February 18, 1945, Argie was united in marriage to Warren Judson Parrett. Four sons and one daughter were born to this union. They enjoyed over thirty-three years together before his death, October 22, 1978. In addition to her parents and Warren, Argie was preceded in death by one son (18 year old) James David Parrett; and two brothers, William Renick Gibbs and Kenneth Wayne Gibbs; one sister, Clio Mrieta Ware; brother-in-law, Loran Willhite, and sister-in-law Verla Gibbs. Peak Wanda Jane Peak (nee Russell) was born Saturday, December 31, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles and Carol Schreiner Russell and departed this life Friday, September 6, 2002 as the result of an automobile accident at the age of 35 years, 8 months and 6 days. Wanda married Stephen Turner in Lamar, Missouri and to this union one son, Stephen Nichlas Turner, was born. She later married Mathew Edward Peak on December 15, 1995 in Harrisonville, Missouri and to this union three children were born. Wanda lived most of her childhood at Hermann, Missouri. She enjoyed swimming, taking the children fishing and being with friends and family. She accepted the Lord several years ago and attended the Lighthouse Gospel Tabernacle Church in Viburnum, Missouri where she was a member of the Women of Worth Ladies Group. Wanda was preceded in death by two grandparents, Charles Schreiner and Austin Russell. Morris Vernon Simmerly Morris Vernon Simmerly was born on July 19, 1917, in Sullivan, Missouri to John Henry Simmerly and Anna Blanton Simmerly. He departed this life on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 85 years, one month and 24 days. Morris came from a large family of seven brothers and two sisters. He was a life-long resident of the Bourbon area, where he worked at Paramount Headware 61 years, retiring as a foreman. On June 5, 1942, Morris Vernon Simmerly was united in marriage to Eleanor Hoerath at the United Methodist Parsonage, Bourbon, Missouri and to this union three daughters were born. Morris was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge IOOF #156, Rebekah Lodge #319, Cantons of Sullivan #49, Grand Lodge IOOF of MO and United Methodist Men's Club of Bourbon. After his retirement he enjoyed gardening and cooking for the various fund-raisers of the organizations he belonged to. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Connie Kell; his brothers, Rolla, Virgil, Henry, Jess, Ashley, Frank and Eircil Simmerly; two sisters, Elsie Cardwell and Marie Pinnell. Those who remain to mourn his passing are his dear wife, Eleanor of the home; his daughters, Bonnie Peterson and husband Gary of Bourbon, Missouri and Kathy West and husband Barry of Leasburg, Missouri; his son-in-law Rev. David Kell and wife Rev. Karen Joan Voss Karen Joan Voss nee Thompson of Cuba, Missouri passed away on Friday, September 6, 2002 at the age of 60 years 4 months and 5 days. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Fred Thompson and Blanche (Martin) Thompson. On November 27, 1960, Karen was united in marriage to Vernon Voss of Oxnard, California. Two sons, Joe and Jason and one daughter, Deborah, were born to this union. Karen and Vernon had been happily married for 41 years. Karen was a member of Holy Cross Church of Cuba, Missouri. For many years she had her own beauty shop. Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life is her devoted husband Vernon Voss; two sons, Joe Voss and wife Dianna and Jason Voss and wife Jennifer; one daughter Deborah Voss; one brother Gene Babcock; three sisters Marion Belding, Rose Grierman and Sue Le Bretton; one granddaughter Jodi Voss; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
