Donna loved being a stay at home "supermom" and was the rock of the family. Everyone knew there was always a warm meal at Donna's house, no matter who you were. She was "mee-maw" to her grandbabies. Donna enjoyed crafting and painting with a specialty of spray painting. There wasn't a day you saw her without all her accessories and jewelry on. Oscar married Jeneanne "Jean" Wirz on Saturday, March 24, 1951 at Steelville, Missouri. After graduating high school, Oscar went to work as a deliver driver. He delivered ice cream, Coca Cola and Holsum Bread. He retired from Holsum Bread after 30 years of leaving home between 1-3 a.m. and returning 12 hours later. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing, hunting and he thought of himself as pool shark. Sunday's were spent at the race track, because Oscar was one of the race car drivers. Oscar was an excellent carpenter. He built cabinets, furniture and was always working around the house on different projects. He even rebuilt campers and detailed cars. Up until 2006 Oscar would trade vehicles every year. For many years, after work, Oscar and Jean could be found at Rock Fair. After Jean passed away, Oscar would eat breakfast every Saturday morning, with the widowers' group, at different local restaurants. Donal Eugene "Don" Quick Donal Eugene "Don" Quick of Bourbon, Missouri was born on October 20, 1935 in Greely, Missouri, to Clyde W. and Mary (Ball) Quick and passed away on Friday, September 7, 2018 at the age of 82 years. His father died as the result of an accident and his uncle took him to St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 16, gave him 25 cents and told him it was time to be on his own. Don was a survivor and soon landed his first job at Shaw's Garden. He made his living in Auto Body Repair. Don repaired and gave away many cars to folks who needed them. Don married Mildred Barbre on May 28, 1956. Don and Millie raised their family in St. Louis and moved to Sullivan, Missouri in 1978. Don was blessed with the gift of music and poetry. He recorded several albums of Southern Gospel Music and wrote many volumes of poetry. Don could make novelty guitars out of almost anything. He was a member of Sullivan Family Worship Center in Sullivan. After the death of his wife, Millie, Don was married to Dorolene Chrisco and they made their home in Rolla, Missouri. James "Jim" Calvin Young James "Jim" Calvin Young of Steelville, Missouri was born on Thursday, June 19, 1941 in Keysville, Missouri to Conn Holmes and Pansy Delight (Dicus) Young and passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the age of 77 years, 2 months and 27 days. Jim attended Roanoke School, then Cherryville High School. He attended Coffey Community Church where he was recently baptized. Jim married Geneva I. Abney on August 15, 1980 in Steelville, Missouri. Jim worked on the Frisco, Santa Fe and Burlington Northern Railroads as a Switch Foreman, Brakeman and Conductor where he retired after 34 years. He had previously worked at Brown Shoe, helped his father build the Earl's building, Steelville Manufacturing, various carpentry jobs, Old Hwy 66 construction, and also helped build and remodel buildings at Cobblestone. Jim was drafted into the United States Army where he served honorably for two years. He was deployed to Vietnam with the 1st Calvary as an Automatic Rifleman Spec 4 and was injured in battle November 17, 1965 for which he received a Purple Heart. At his 20 year 1st Cavalry reunion, he was returned the helmet that saved his life. Jim also received a Good Conduct Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze service star, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with device, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit citation badge, and the Expert Marksman Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar. He is mentioned in a chapter of the book "We Were Soldiers Once and Young" that later became a movie. Jim was a life member of the VFW in Cuba, Missouri. He enjoyed tinkering in his workshop, being outdoors, gardening and especially loved fishing and hunting. He was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and enjoyed reacquainting with his Army Brothers at 1st Cavalry reunions.
