Lois Jean Anderson
Lois Jean Anderson was born May 24, 1937 in Cherryville, Missouri to Emery and
Mildred (Morrison) Bell and passed September 17, 2011.
She devoted her life to serving others. She toured the world as a military
wife and lifelong traveler, was a member of the Red Cross during the Viet Nam
conflict, joined several societies to include the Red Hat Society in Bolivar,
Missouri, and served multiple churches concluding with the First Christian
Church in Bolivar.
Lois and Lenard Munroe Anderson were married on September 2, 1955 and raised
four sons.
Lois treasured life and lived it to the fullest. She was an artist, author,
traveled throughout the world, and was an amazing cook who shared her
epicurean skills with her family, grandchildren and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emery and Mildred Bell; her husband,
Lenard M. Anderson and her great grandchild, Aiden Anderson.
She is survived by her siblings, James Bell of Steelville, Missouri, Jack
Bell of Topeka, Kansas, Larry Bell of Houston, Texas, Gloria (Bell) Ireland of
St. James, Missouri and Joseph Bell of Licking Missouri; four sons and their
families, Kenneth D. Anderson, his wife Susan (Dance), and their daughter
Angela Anderson-Tewell and husband Thomas; Kevin L. Anderson and his daughters
Amy and Kasey; James E. Anderson, his wife Melissa (Wright), and their
daughters Alexandra and Sarah; Jeffrey L. Anderson, his wife Susan (Klepper),
and their son Jacob; her lifelong friend, Delores Bell, of Steelville,
Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Interment will be at the Biloxi National Cemetery at Biloxi, Mississippi.
Mary Ruth Bailey
Mary Ruth Bailey nee Slovensky of Cabot, Arkansas formerly of Steelville,
Missouri was born on March 18, 1927 at Steelville, Missouri to John and Mary
Earney Slovensky and passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the age of
84 years, 5 months and 29 days.
Mary Ruth married George Bailey in November of 1947 at Washington, Missouri
and to this union two children were born.
She worked and retired from Wallace manufacturing in Maplewood, Missouri. She
later moved back to Steelville where she was a volunteer in the elementary
school. She also, was a member of the Center Point Baptist Church in Steelville,
Missouri. Her hobbies were embroidering, quilting, camping and fishing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Slovensky; husband,
George; brother, Walter (Thelma) Slovensky; brothers-in-law, Tom, Joe, Jim
and Bill Bailey; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Bailey and Eunice (Emery) Futo.
She is survived by her son, Gary Bailey and wife Jane of St. Peters,
Missouri; daughter, Jerry Lyn Crunk of Cabot, Arkansas; sister, Annie Laurie
Petchula of Fairview Heights, Illinois; brother-in-law, Albert (Mary)
Bailey of Maplewood, Missouri; sister-in-law, Rose Bailey of Steelville,
Missouri; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; other relatives and
friends.
Visitation was Monday, September 19, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hutson
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Center Point
Baptist Church, Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Delmar Hutson officiating.
Burial at the Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.

Gary Lee Carroll Sr.
Gary Lee Carroll Sr. of St. James, Missouri was born March 19, 1952 in
St. Louis, Missouri to Ray Vance and Lula (Bell) Carroll, and passed away
September 11, 2011 in St. James, Missouri at the age of 59 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lula Carroll; twin
sister, Peggy Carroll and brothers-in-law, Doug Finchem and Andy Valley.
He is survived by his sons, Gary Carroll Jr. and wife Karla of St. Louis,
Missouri, Brian Carroll and significant other Casey Ousley of Rolla,
Missouri and Jason Carroll and wife Amanda of Rolla, Missouri; daughters,
Melissa Pointer and husband Terrance of Lake Station, Indiana, Jennifer
Carroll of Imperial, Missouri and Tracey Earls and husband Nathan of
St. James, Missouri; brothers, Leon Carroll and wife Virginia of St. Louis,
Missouri, Eugene Carroll and wife Charlene of St. Louis, Missouri and Donald
Carroll and wife Toni of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters, Wanda Finchem of
St. Louis, Missouri, Vivian Henderson of St. Louis, Missouri, Geraldine “Coke”
Dillon and husband Mike of St. Louis, Missouri and Shirley Valley of

Visitation was held on Thursday, September 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the James &
Gahr Mortuary in Rolla, Missouri.
Visitation was also held on Friday, September 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at
Kutis Funeral Home, St. Louis, Missouri.
Services were held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Kutis
Funeral Home.
Interment at the St. Marcus Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Carl Milton Jessen
Carl Milton Jessen of Steelville, Missouri was born on Tuesday, April 21, 1925
in Anaconda, Montana to Harvey and Jessie McLeary Jessen and passed away at
Gibbs Care Center, Steelville, Missouri on Friday, September 16, 2011 at the
age of 86 years, 4 months and 26 days.
Carl served his country in the United States Navy in WWII from 1943-46. He
was an aviation ordinance man and aerial gunner stationed in the Russell,
Marshall and Gilbert Islands.
He married Mary Helen Mitzi Jensen on April 25, 1951 in Anaconda, Montana
and to this union three children were born.
He was a switchman for the Butte & Anaconda Pacific Railroad. He also,
was a bartender at the Park Cafe Bar/Restaurant when the RR was closed
during strikes. He was a “jack of all trades,” building an addition to
his home, woodworking, making train sets and model airplanes. He was a
pilot and had memorable trips especially in his flight to Alaska. He
enjoyed fishing and hiking.
Carl spent the last five years living at Gibbs Care Center. He enjoyed the
many activities and was always ready to go whenever and wherever they
would take him. If a trip had to be cancelled because of snow, he would
remind everyone that a little snow shouldn’t stop him from going…he was
from Montana! Carl met his good buddy, Art Sigler, at Gibbs. The two of
them were always entertaining the other residents and staff. They put a
smile on everyone’s face watching them walk down the hallway pushing their
walkers, wearing the WWII hats, side by side. There was always a twinkle
in Carl’s eyes as he shared a joke or sang a song. Carl leaves behind
many good friends at Gibbs Care Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; brothers, Earl (Dorothy)
Jessen, Howard (Renie) Jessen; sisters-in-law, Eleanor (Ivan) Markland
and Margie (Mike) Frankovich.
He is survived by his son, Carl (Sheri) Jessen of Aurora, Colorado;
daughters, Sandy (Dave) Peterson of Anaconda, MT, and Lynn (Karl) Burgher
of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren, Amy and Chad Peterson, Sarah (Erik)
Hoar, Aaron Gransbery, Erik Jessen, Kristy Burgher, Laura (Kyle) Schroeder,
Jacqueline and Madeline Burgher; former son-in-law, Bill Gransbery of
Anaconda, Montana; other relatives and friends.
No public services will be held. He will be buried in Anaconda, Montana.

Antoinette Marie “Ann” Karpowecz
Antoinette Marie “Ann” Karpowecz of Cuba, Missouri was born to Samuel and
Adele(Schwann) Comparato on June 27, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed
away Friday, September 9, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family at the age
of 77 years.
Ann founded the Rock Fair Restaurant & Lounge in 1979 and was the longtime
owner/operator. She was known for “The Rock Burger,” “pizza,” “fried pickles”
and her many daily specials. Her hard work, devotion and inviting personality
has kept customers coming back for years. She was a parishioner of Holy
Cross Catholic Church and a member of Cuba VFW Auxiliary Post #7147 and
Cuba American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed her
trips to Florida, the beach, shelling, bowling and she was an avid
St. Louis Cardinals fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Adele Comparato; two
brothers, Vince and Joe Comparato; one sister, Florence Comparato.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Karpowecz of the home; children,
Sheri and husband John Pogorzelski of Arnold, Missouri, Jerry and wife
Melanie Montgomery, Jimmy and wife Claudia Montgomery all of Cuba, Missouri,
Frank and wife Sheila Karpowecz of California, Missouri and Jim Karpowecz
of Cuba, Missouri; grandchildren, James (Lisa), Jeff, Mark, Michael, Mariah,
Jorden, Jonathon, James, Jaclyn, Jenna, Chasity, Josh, Haley, Jordan,
Zack, Kirsten and Tyler; great grandchildren James, Mya, Cloe and Hunter;
one sister, Gloria Miller of Arnold, Missouri; sister-in-law, Jeanette
Comparato of St. Louis, Missouri; special friends and care givers, Cookie
Armstrong, Cathy Hattersley, Judy Barnicle and Judy Richards; other relatives
and friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 12, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at the
Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10 a.m. at
Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. James Finder as the celebrant.
Interment followed at the Holy Cross Cemetery.

Eugene (Gene) Albert Kimker
Eugene Albert Kimker (Gene) was born to Albert and Amanda (nee Meyer) Kimker
on August 17, 1938, in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Wednesday evening,
September 14, 2011, at the age of 73 years.
In 1955, he became a baptized member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s
Witnesses. Gene Graduated from St. Clair High School in 1956.
On November 15, 1958, Gene was married to Elizabeth Harrison in Sullivan,
Missouri.
In 1965, Gene graduated from the 40th class of the Gilead Bible School in
Brooklyn, New York. Thereafter, he and Beth, served as missionaries in
Taiwan for three and a half years.
In 1969, they returned to the United States. They made their home in the
Meramec River Valley near Campbell Bridge in Bourbon, Missouri.
Gene enjoyed helping out his neighbors at every opportunity. He served for
many years as an Elder in the Sullivan Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He was recognized in 2004 with an Outstanding Citizen award for rendering
medical aid to a person in need.
Gene enjoyed being outdoors, anything involving his tractor, riding his
4 wheeler, cutting firewood, collecting tools and stashing away anything he
“may need later”. He was especially fond of spending time with his children
and grandchildren, walking the Hirzy farm and gardening with Aunt Fern and
her dog Lucky.
After Beth’s passing, in 2001, he married Delores Bell on May 3, 2009. They
enjoyed many things in common, such as yard work, shopping, travel and
looking after others in the community.
He is survived by his wife, Delores of Bourbon, Missouri; sons, Stephen
and wife Eraka of Bourbon, Missouri and Kevin and wife Angie of Manchester,
Missouri; daughter, Jeanette Rabjohns and husband Simon of Bourbon,
Missouri; step sons, Cliff Bell and wife Christine of Imperial, Missouri,
Jeff Bell of St. Louis, Missouri and Jason Bell and wife Melissa of
St. Clair, Missouri; step daughter, Amanda Mantle and husband Jared of
Bourbon, Missouri; grandchildren, Emali, Zachary, Sophia and Devin;
step grandchildren, Jake, Samantha, Rowen, Zoey and Skyler; two “adopted”
grandchildren, Arec Tucker and Kelly Langston; brothers and sisters,
Alvin and wife Gladys of Sullivan, Missouri, Robert and wife Sherry of
St. Clair, Missouri, Karen Griemel of Bourbon, Missouri, Sharon Roberts
and husband Dan of Rogers, Arkansas, Laverne Pierce and husband Bob of
St. Clair, Missouri and June Heimbough of Union, Missouri; other relatives
and friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 4 p.m. at
the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Sullivan, Missouri.
A private internment will be held at the family’s farm in Bourbon.

Herbert W. Ransom
Herbert W. Ransom of Steelville, Missouri was born on Tuesday, April 26, 1910
in Steelville, Missouri to Isaac Daniel and Margaret Ellen Fitzwater Ransom
and passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the age of 101 years,
4 months and 14 days.
Herbert worked in maintenance for St. Louis University, Hazelwood Retreat
Center in Berkley, Missouri and Fordyce Retreat Center in South County
until retirement. Then moved to Steelville, Missouri where he had lived
for the last 20 years. His hobbies were hunting and mowing grass.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Margaret Ransom; wife,
Marie Mabel Darst Ransom; brothers, and sisters, Virgil (Mildred) Ransom,
Fern (Cecil) Hedrick, Dewey (Vivian) Ransom, Clyde (Hallie) Ransom, Elsie
(Darrell) Harmon, Jack (Lilly) Ransom, Cecilia (Josh) Walls and Vetta Grace
(Eldon) Dunlap.
He is survived by his son, Clinton Ransom and wife Carol of Hazelwood,
Missouri; granddaughters, Terry Lynn Ransom of Florissant, Missouri and
Cheryl Ann Blake of Catawissa, Missouri; great grandsons, Dalton and Austin
Blake of Catawissa, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. and funeral service
on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 7 p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri with Pastor Jerry Beers officiating.
Burial was Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Memorial
Gardens, St. Charles, Missouri.

Evelyn Marie Stuck
Evelyn Marie Stuck of Rolla, Missouri was born November 26, 1924 in Hamburg,
Iowa to William and Josephine (Nash) Cole, and passed away September 8, 2011
in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 86 years.
Evelyn worked as a registered nurse for many years and also as a bookkeeper
and co-owner of Harry Stuck Trucking.
Evelyn always looked out for others and had a wonderful sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Josephine Cole and a
daughter, Kathy Marie Stuck. She is survived by her husband, Harry Stuck of
Rolla, Missouri; daughter, Mary Rachelle Madden and husband Frank John
Madden III of Rolla, Missouri; sons, Joel Stephen Martin of St. James,
Missouri, Roy Alan Stuck and wife Sheryl Horton of St. James, Missouri and
David Spencer Stuck and wife Kelly Ann Stuck of Rolla, Missouri; sister,
Josephine Rorex of California; sisters-in-law, Jeanne Ford and husband
Phil of Rolla, Missouri and Rhonda Combs and husband Gerald of Rolla,
Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; other relatives and

11:30 a.m. at Lake Spring Cemetery in Lake Spring, Missouri with Pastor
Gary Lane officiating.

Donald Bernard Wyatt
Donald Bernard Wyatt was born on December 17, 1939 in St. Louis, Missouri
to Frank R. Jr. and Ruth Ilene (Schmidt) Wyatt and passed away at his home
in St. James, Missouri on September 11, 2011 at the age of 71 years,
8 months and 25 days.
Donald was united in marriage to Marcia Jane Wells on April 29, 1972 in Kent,
Ohio.
Don was a family man who always had time for his wife and his boys. He was
in the Scouts for 10 years. He was active in the Trinity Episcopal Church in
St. James and was a Lay Reader for many years. He worked many years at UMR now
S&T, in the Circulation Department at Library.
He loved to deer hunt, and loved to take road trips to see the Ozarks.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Jr. and Ruth Wyatt and one son,
Douglas James Wyatt on February 3, 1981.
He is survived by his wife Marcia of St. James, Missouri; three sons, Craig
Donald Wyatt and wife Carrie of Whitewater, Wisconsin, Matthew Dwain Wyatt of
St. James, Missouri and Patrick Bernard Wyatt and wife Amy of St. James,
Missouri; three brothers, Frank R. Wyatt III and wife Joan of Houston, Texas,
Gary Allen Wyatt and wife Cindy of Sullivan, Missouri and Rick Kevin Wyatt and
wife Wendy of St. James, Missouri; five grandchildren, William, Carmen and Megan
Wyatt and Jared and Jason Brim; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the Jones Funeral
Home in St. James, Missouri.
Memorial services were conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011
at the Trinity Episcopal Church in St. James, Missouri with Steve Barber
officiating with Sharon Dolisi, organist.
Internment of the ashes at the Miles Cemetery near St. James, Missouri, with
full military honors.
Arrangements under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James,
Missouri.
