Nerene McGlasson
Nerene McGlasson (nee Davis) was born Friday, November 8, 1929
in Davisville, Missouri, a daughter of the late Roy Allen
Davis and Estella Frances "Fannie" Davis (nee Martin).
She departed this life Tuesday September 13, 2005, after
a long battle with cancer at the home of her daughter Becki
McGlasson, in Florissant, Missouri.
Nerene married Bruce Edward McGlasson on August 3, 1946
at the young age of 16. To this union one son Bruce Jr., and three
daughters Brenda, Susan, and Becki were born. They had been blessed
with almost 50 years together when Bruce preceded her in death
February 12, 1996.
In addition to her parents and husband, Nerene was
preceded in death by four brothers, Lydle Davis, Eugene E. Davis,
Max Davis and Glen Davis and wife Virginia; one sister Hazel Gibbs
and husband Ray Gibbs; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ina
Davis, Agnes Davis, Treffie Adams, Dale McGlasson and John Baker.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving
children, Bruce McGlasson Jr. and wife Sandra, Brenda McNeely and
husband Daniel all of Union, Missouri, Susan Parker of Hazelwood,
Missouri, and Becki McGlasson of St. Louis, Missouri.
Brothers and sisters, Jack Davis of Arnold, Missouri,
Gilbert and Ina Davis and Louis Davis, all of Steelville, Missouri,
Hilma Adams of Lynn, Missouri, JoAnn and Bob Crabtree of Bourbon,
Missouri.
Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elsie Davis of
Overland, Missouri, Mildred Davis of St. Louis, Missouri, Sally
McGlasson of New Mexico, James and Hazel McGlasson of Lawson,
Missouri, Vivian Baker of Cherryville, Missouri, and Georgia and
John Warner of Rolla, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 18 great
grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many
friends.
Nerene McGlasson (nee Davis) lay in state from 5-8 p.m.,
Thursday, September, 15, 2005 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Friday, September
16, 2005 in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Paul Gibbs officiating.
Musical selections were provided by Monica McGlasson, Don Britton,
Darlene Cape and Jim Hewkin.
Committal prayers and interment were in the Turnbough
Cemetery, Davisville, Missouri.
Honoring Nerene as pallbearers were Rick Crabtree, Nick
McGlasson, Keith McGlasson, Scott McGlasson, Adam Schnaus and Jeff
Struckhoff.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Donald Ray Payne
Donald Ray Payne, son of Thomas and Era (Yates) Payne, was born
August 24, 1939 at Bardwell, Kentucky. The Paynes left Bardwell in
1941 when they moved to St. Louis, Missouri. In 1953, the family
moved to Cuba, Missouri, where Don worked at Monarch Flooring and
later, Cuba Manufacturing. Don soon moved to Steelville where he met
Charlotte Louise Greenwalt. Don and Charlotte were married on
July 28, 1962 in Steelville. They shared two beautiful daughters,
Donna and Tracey.
Don and Charlotte moved to the state of California where
they lived until 1967 when they moved to St. Louis for Don to take a
job with the Florsheim Shoe Company. In 1977, the Paynes moved back
to Steelville where Don worked at the Brown Shoe Company. In 1985,
Don and Charlotte moved to Richland where Don worked at the Boat
Factory until he took a job with Galvafoam in Camdenton where he
worked until his retirement in 2003.
Don enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his
family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father,
brother and friend, and will be very sadly missed by all who knew
and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters Donna L.
Asano and her husband, Vicente of Sedalia and Tracey L. Swofford and
her husband, Travis of Brumley; three brothers Elwood Payne and
his wife, Mildred of Bourbon, Bob Payne and his wife, Doris of
Richland and Tom Payne, Jr. and his wife, Dorothy of Crestview,
Florida; two sisters Peggy Jo Garcia and her husband, Johnny of
Seattle, Washington and Helen Sue Wirz and her husband, Ralph of
Monroe Falls, Ohio; his special friend Barbara Perkins of Richland
along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and
friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and
three sisters: Mary Woods, Betty Chism and Marguy Wilson.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, September
13, 2005 in the Richland Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mike Hawkins
officiating. Two songs, "Amazing Grace" and "Precious Memories" were
played. Burial will be in the Martin Cemetery near Cherryville,
Missouri. Services were under the direction of Richland Memorial
Chapel.
Jaden Nicole Phelps
Jaden Nicole Phelps was born Monday, August 8, 2005, and
passed away Sunday, August 28, 2005 at Steelville, Missouri at the
age of 20 days.
Among those who mourn her passing are her loving mother,
Jennifer Phelps of Steelville, Missouri; step father Jason Inman of
Richland, Missouri, one brother, Justyn Inman and one sister,
Jessica Inman of Steelville, Missouri.
Grandparents, Judy Phelps of Steelville, Missouri,
Gilbert Garcia of Hammond, Indiana, and Charles and Debra Inman of
Richland, Missouri; uncles and aunts, April Phelps of Buffalo,
Missouri, Gilberta and Grant Kime and Christopher Phelps all of
Steelville, Missouri, Heather Inman, Tanya Inman, Jennifer and Josh
Jones all of Richland, Missouri, cousins and other relatives.
Jaden Nicole Phelps lay in state 9 a.m. Thursday,
September 1, 2005 at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Graveside services were held 10 a.m. Thursday, September 1, 2005
at the Martin Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers
officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in the Martin
Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri.
Local arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Simon Andrew Slovensky
Simon Andrew Slovensky was stillborn Monday, September 12, 2005 at
the St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Washington,
Missouri, son of Astryd Peterson and Andrew Slovensky.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his
mother and father, Astryd Peterson and Andrew Slovensky of Sullivan,
Missouri; grandparents Thomas Jr. and Regina Slovensky of Potosi,
Missouri, Dawn Wilson of Owensville, Missouri.
Great grandparents Rev. Thomas Sr. and Donna Slovensky
of Potosi, Missouri, Charles and Donna Harper and the late Barbara
Harper of Steelville, Missouri, Joanne and Bill Shiflett of
Owensville, Missouri.
Also remaining are aunts and uncles, Cyrus Slovensky,
Seth Slovensky and Matthias Slovensky of Potosi, Missouri, Eyreka
Peterson and Raymond Peterson of Owensville, Missouri; cousins,
other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Simon Andrew Slovensky were held
10 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2005, Rev. Thomas Slovensky, Jr.
officiating, with burial in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville,
Missouri.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Bros.
Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Nancy Olea Streb
Nancy Olea Streb, nee Bland, of Cuba, Missouri, was born
on June 25, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri to James A. Bland and Mabel
Hannah Beezley Bland. She passed away in Rolla, Missouri on
September 13, 2005 at the age of 62 years, 2 months and 18 days.
Nancy married William O'Connor on September 6, 1959 in
Memphis, Tennessee. She was the mother of five boys. She later
married James E. Streb, Jr., on June 6, 1989 in St. James, Missouri.
Nancy was a certified medication technician working at
several nursing homes in the area, the most recent at Gibbs Care
Center in Steelville, Missouri.
She was a dedicated caregiver always concerned about
others. Nancy was an avid Cardinals fan and had a large collection
of Cardinal memorabilia. Her hobbies were crafts, gardening,
especially flowers and spending time on the computer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant
brother.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her husband
James E. Streb, Jr., of Cuba, Missouri; sons Kelly O'Connor and wife
Doris, Robert O'Connor and wife June, Andrew O'Connor and wife Mary
Ann, all of Rolla, Missouri; Edward O'Connor and wife Kelly Ann of
Monterey, California and Joe O'Connor and wife Kimberly of New
Bloomfield, Missouri. Brothers, John Bland and wife Brenda and Ron
Bland, all of Cuba, Missouri; father-in-law James E. Streb and wife
Sandi of High Gate, Missouri and mother-in-law Lorraine Garner of
Wichita, Kansas;
Grandchildren: Dustin, Krystal Marie, Daniel, Emily,
Kristen and Jacob O'Connor; nieces, nephews, cousins and many
friends.
Visitation was Thursday, September 15, 2005 from 6-9
p.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
Funeral services were Friday, September 16, 2005 at 11
a.m. at the Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri with Pastor Dale
Rosette officiating.
Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri
with pallbearers Rick Martin, Mick Kailer, Ronald Durbin, Steve
Bach, Caleb Bland and Keith Avery.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson
Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
