Mary Alice "Mickey" Gamble
Mary Alice "Mickey" Gamble, nee Fannon, was born Monday, February 14,
1938, at St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Robert Fannon and
Susan Florence Fannon Schrader (nee Leftridge).
She entered eternal life Tuesday, September 14, 2004, at the home of
her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Roger Carl, rural Steelville,
Missouri, at the age of 66 years and 7 months.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter,
Brenda Gamble, one brother, Elmer Fannon and one sister, Betty Jean
Silvers.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted husband,
Troy Gamble of Steelville, Missouri; two daughters, Vicki and husband
Roger Carl and Laura Gillam all of Steelville, Missouri; her sons Terry
Bender and wife Sherry of St. Mary, Georgia and Paul Whempren and wife
Daphine of Gramercy, Louisana; sister-in-law, Betty Fannon of Affton,
Missouri; a brother-in-law, Dan Silvers of Matthew, Missouri; nine
grandchildren, other relatives and many friends who will truly miss her.
Mary Alice "Mickey" Gamble lay in state 4-8 p.m. Thursday, September
16, 2004, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Friday, September 17, 2004, in the
Britton Chapel with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Eulogies were given by
two granddaughters, Chrissy Wade and Jessica Gillam.
Committal prayers and interment were in Berryman Cemetery, Berryman,
Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Roger Carl, Jr., Mike Fannon, Eric
Gillam, Gerald Robin, John Shilleto and Paul Whempren.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
Howard T. Smith
Howard T. Smith of Sullivan, Missouri formerly of Bourbon, Missouri was
born on Thursday, January 20, 1910 in Leasburg, Missouri to Henry Thomas
Smith and Eliza Jane Blair Smith. He passed away Tuesday, September 14,
2004 at Meramec Nursing Center, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 94 years,
7 months, and 25 days.
Howard married Hazel Josephine Roderique on July 11, 1931 at the First
Baptist Church, Sullivan, Missouri and to this union one son was born.
They lived in St. Louis where Howard worked for Pevely Dairy then later
moved to Bourbon, Missouri where he was first appointed alderman by the
city council then became mayor for eight years.
Howard introduced Eckert peaches to the Bourbon area in 1947. He served
on the board for the Autumn Age Home and the North Crawford County
Ambulance District. At one time, Howard and Jo had a telephone answering
service for several businesses in the Bourbon area. He was employed with
Hoener Funeral Home for 20 years and later worked at Town & Country Super
Market as an assistant manager. He was a member of Bourbon Boosters and
First Baptist Church, Bourbon where he became an ordained deacon in
October 1963.
After retirement Jo and Howard visited every state of the U.S. except
for Hawaii even spending six weeks in Alaska. Howard enjoyed fishing,
hunting and most of all being with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Mack, Earl, and Fred
Smith; sisters Florence Smith Knight, Flota Smith Alexander and Lula
Smith.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his wife Hazel "Jo" Smith of
Sullivan, Missouri; son Jim Smith and wife Roberta of Bourbon, Missouri;
grandchildren Kelly Bauer and husband Walt, Dean Vaughn and wife Kathy,
Douglas Vaughn and wife Diane; seven great grandchildren; nieces, nephews,
cousins, and many friends.
Visitation was Wednesday, September 15, 2004 from 4-9 p.m. and
Thursday, September 16, 2004 from 9-11 a.m. at First Baptist Church,
Bourbon, Missouri.
Funeral Services were held at First Baptist Church, Bourbon, Missouri
at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2004 with Brother Greg Cook
officiating and Brother Mike King assisting.
Interment at Lea Cemetery, Leasburg, Missouri. All arrangements under
the direction of Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, Missouri.
