MO Local Obituaries for the Week of September 25, 2013 Douglas “Doug Dog” Lee Barrett Douglas “Doug Dog” Lee Barrett of Cherryville, Missouri was born August 14, 1963 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 in his home at 50 years, 1 month and 2 days of age. He was united in marriage on June 23, 1984 to Tammie Parmeley and from that union came three children. Doug moved to Cherryville in 1994 where he enjoyed his time with family and friends. He was the owner and operator of Barrett Overhead Door Since 1996. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local 110.   He attended the Assembly of God Church in Boss, Missouri. Doug loved to ride his motorcycle and was a member of the “Saddle Tramps” Motorcycle Club.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, having a good time and living life to its fullest. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Tammie Barrett of Cherryville, Missouri; one son, Tommy Barrett and wife Jada of Belleville, Illinois; two daughters, Crystal Barrett and Elizabeth Barrett of Cherryville, Missouri; his parents, Ellis and Dawn Turnbough; three brothers, Jim Barrett, Ellis Turnbough and Richard Turnbough, all of Davisville, Missouri; four sisters, Tracy Hill and husband Randy of Piggott, Arkansas, Jan Bausch and husband Chip of Chesterfield, Missouri,  Kim Denby of Barnhart, Missouri and Katie Hedge and husband Jim of High Ridge, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Terry Downey and husband Tim of Arnold, Missouri and Tina Summers and husband Dave of Washington, Missouri; one granddaughter, “Princess” Scarlett Thompson; other relatives and friends. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Ministers, Jack Sims and Kelly Pryor officiating. Special music of “Small Town Southern Man,” “Who You’d Be Today” and “Saddle Tramp” was played. Memories were shared by family and friends. Final ride was given by his Saddle Tramp Club and friends. Twila May Britton Twila May Britton, nee Rawlins, was born on Saturday, December 16, 1933 in Sydney, Iowa to Estle James and Gladys Edna Dillow Rawlins and passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at Price Memorial Nursing Center, Eureka, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 2 days. Twila married Jewel L. Britton on March 19, 1955 in Hernandez, Mississippi and to this union nine children were born. Twila was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Sullivan, Missouri. She enjoyed reading, traveling, crocheting and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Estle and Gladys Rawlins; husband, Jewel; son, Gary Lynn Britton; brothers, Gary James Rawlins and Stuart Rawlins. Amy Linda Cope Amy Linda Cope of Ferndale Residential Care Facility in St. James, Missouri was born on January 20, 1965 in Washington, D.C. to John Edward and Virginia Letitia (nee Tufft) Cope and passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri at the age of 48 years. Prior to living in Missouri, Amy was a resident of New Haven, Connecticut; Orlando, Florida; and Laurel, Maryland. Amy will be remembered for her sweet disposition and her fondness of music. She particularly enjoyed time spent with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, John Cope in 1980 and her mother, Virginia in 2004. She is survived by her son, Marcus Hutchings; two sisters, Eileen Avis of West Palm Beach, Florida and Mary Beth Graf of California, Pennsylvania; her guardian, Franky Todd; her caregiver, Janet Douglas; other relatives and friends. Shirley Marie Daude Shirley Marie Daude of Cuba, Missouri, formerly of St. Louis, Missouri, was born to the union of Arthur J. and Emma M. (Bohajek) Wilson on August 21, 1926 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at The Arbors at Victorian Place in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 87 years. Shirley worked as a clerk for A&P Grocery Store for 20 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, needlework, traveling, antiquing and a good meal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Emma Wilson; husband, William C. Daude; son-in-law, Thomas Kilcullen; brother-in-law, Reggie Marks. Arrangements under the direction of the Mizell Funeral Home in Cuba, Missouri.   Estelle Grotha Estelle Grotha of St. James, Missouri was born July 28, 1933 in St. James, Missouri to John and Estelle (Sanders) Grotha and passed September 20, 2013 at her home at the age of 80 years.   Estelle was a graduate of St. James High School. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was a gifted pianist, a gift that she shared with several in the community by offering piano lessons in her home. She also enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables. Everyone in the neighborhood could look forward to her bountiful harvest with sharing her gift of a green thumb. Estelle had a very close relationship with her nieces and nephews and was a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she attended all her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Estelle Grotha; siblings, John D. Grotha, Catherine C. Gorman, Theodore J. Grotha, Allen P. Grotha and Bernard F. Grotha. She is survived by her sister, Adelaide M. Wagstaff of Tampa, Florida; other relatives and friends. Ralph Edwin Pinnell Ralph Edwin Pinnell of Cuba, Missouri was born in Steelville, Missouri to William Floyd and Laura Evanna Walker Pinnell on Friday, April 1, 1932 and passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 13 days. Ralph served his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He married Esther Catherine Hanks on January 18, 1957 at Sam Roper’s home in Steelville, Missouri and to this union one son was born. Ralph worked at Chrysler Industry in St. Louis, Missouri then later MEPCO in Cuba, Missouri where he was a supervisor. He then worked and retired from Custom Printing in Owensville, Missouri. He was a gentle and quiet man who especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons. He watched the Gospel Hour television program and liked listening to country music. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Laura Pinnell; wife, Catherine Pinnell; brother, Leroy Pinnell; sister, Eva Pinnell; brothers-in-law, Bill (Ruth) Hanks, Bill Worley, and Lindell Hinch. Robert H. “Bob” Talbert Robert H. “Bob” Talbert of Rushville, Illinois was born on February 2, 1927 in St. Louis County, Missouri to the late Arthur Leon Talbert, Sr. and Ruth (Vaughn) Talbert and passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013 in his home at the age of 86 years. Bob served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII. He married LaVern Smith on December 1, 1948 in Salem, Missouri and to this union three children were born. Bob attended Benton Creek School and was a 1945 graduate of Steelville High School. After the service, he farmed in Minier, Illinois before becoming a franchise owner in 1958 of the Texaco Service Station in Beardstown, Illinois. He later owned the Zephyr Service Station from 1961-1968 and then became manager for a monument company in Beardstown, Illinois. In August of 1969, he moved to Rushville, Illinois and began a grain and cattle farm operation. He was a member of the Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and the Schuyler County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Sr. and Ruth Talbert; daughter, Carol Ann Talbert; one brother, Arthur Leon Talbert, Jr. and two sisters, Beryl Talbert and Pearl Rogers. He is survived by his wife, LaVern Talbert of Rushville, Illinois; children, Marie (Kevin) Tucker of Riverton, Illionis and Roy Leon (Maureen) Talbert of Springfield, Illinois; one grandson, Robert M. Wade of St. James, Missouri was born in Waynesville, Missouri on February 15, 1934 to James and Ora (McKinnon) Wade and passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 in St. Louis, Missouri at Barnes Jewish Hospital at the age of 79 years. Robert proudly served his Country in the United States Army stationed in Germany during the Korean War. After his time with the Army, Robert decided to see the world through the eyes of the United States Navy and became a part of the SeaBee’s. It was there he would spend the remainder of his military career staying until he retired in 1994. After his retirement from the Navy, he then used what he learned and went into the construction trade. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Wade in 1957 and to this union four children were born. Although they remained friends they would later divorce and Robert then married Katherine Smith. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, classical music and watching movies. He loved the outdoors so camping out under the stars and fishing the lakes and streams Missouri had to offer was a favorite past time. He also loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. He  was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ora Wade; wife, Katherine February 12, 2009; one granddaughter, Tiffany Kline; and ex-wife, Bonnie in 1999.
