Robert V. Beck Sr
Robert V. Beck Sr., 84, passed away Thursday evening at his home after
a period of declining health. Mr. Beck was born In St. Louis, Mo., the son
of the late Vincel and Pearl Ethel Beck.
He attended Normandy High School and served in the Citizen Conservation
Corps at age 17. Mr. Beck served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany
during World War II, earning the Bronze Star with V for valor and an oak
leaf cluster. He also served in the North Carolina National Guard, rising
to the rank of Lieutenant.
After moving to Durham, Mr. Beck became a Durham Police Officer,
retiring after 30 years of service as Captain. He then worked for the
District Attorneys Office for three years.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Hill Beck; four children, Robert V.
Beck II and wife, Linda, of Durham, Rickey W. Beck and wife, Pam, of
Sunset Beach, Phyllis Wood and husband, Thomas, of Semora and Randy W.
Beck and wife, Vivian, of Calabash. Sister, Elsie Matchel of Licking,
Missouri; brother, Warren Samuel Beck of Steelville, Missouri.
Seven grandchildren, Robert V. Beck III, Christie Lynn Beck, Mary Ann
Sykes, Thomas Edward Wood II, Jeffrey F. Beck, Dakota Marie Beck and Dylan
M. Beck; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Clements Funeral Chapel
in Durham with Chaplain Phil Wiggins officiating.
Burial followed in the Hillsborough Town Cemetery.
Visitation was from 1-2 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham.
Mary A. Bingham
Mary A. Bingham, 85 years old, longtime resident of Vinita, Oklahoma,
passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at Rosewood Terrace after a long
illness.
Mary was born October 31, 1918 to Everett and Adah (Shepard) Terry in
Chelsea, Oklahoma. Mary was married to Leonard Bingham on April 10, 1958
in Miami.
Mary was a homemaker who loved God and her family, and was an avid
member of the United Pentecostal Church in Vinita. Mary had worked at
Miller Cozy Home for 10 years after rearing four children. Mary's favorite
pastimes were reading the Bible and listening to gospel music. "Getting
together" with family and friends and crocheting gifts for others were
great joys in her life. Everyone associated with Mary knew well her
devotion and were recipients of her prayers.
Mrs. Bingham is survived by her children, Paul Bennett of Rolla,
Missouri, Julia Fowler of Cuba, Missouri, Addie Helmbrecht of Saratoga
Springs, New York and Mary Bible of Vinita, Oklahoma.
Mary is also survived by her stepchildren, whom she loved dearly,
Elizabeth Landers, Ronnie Bingham, June Hicks, Flora Upshaw, all of
Vinita, Oklahoma, Ella Johnson of Silvas, Illinois, Jimmy Bingham of
Rialto, California and Jerry Bingham of Broken Arrow.
Mary was very proud of her 10 grandchildren and many great
grandchildren. Mary Bingham also leaves behind a brother, Hillard Terry of
Pryor, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary made many friends, including the caring staff at Rosewood Terrace.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Francis, her first
child Ruth Fern, her husband Leonard, a stepdaughter Betty and a stepson
Bob.
Services were held Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. at
Burckhalter Funeral Home in Vinita, Oklahoma. Mary was laid to rest next
to her husband, Leonard Bingham, at Fairview Cemetery in Vinita, Oklahoma.
Arrangements were under the direction of Burckhalter Funeral Home of
Vinita, Oklahoma.
Mary Louise Menz
Mary Louise Menz nee Bogue of Cuba, Missouri was born on August 16, 1933
at Villisca, Iowa to the union of Leo R. Bogue Sr. and Alice Marie
Geesaman Bogue and passed away at Cuba, Missouri on September 18, 2004 at
the age of 71 years 1 month and 2 days.
On February 23, 1952 Mary was united in marriage to John W. Menz. Two
daughters Linda and Debra were born to this union. Mary and John were
happily married until he preceded her in death on July 9, 1982.
Mary was also preceded in death by her mother Alice Marie Bogue.
She was a member of Holy Cross Church of Cuba, Missouri.
Mary was a long time resident of Crawford County and enjoyed working at
Hayes Shoe Store in Cuba, Missouri for many years.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her two
daughters, Linda Donahoe and husband Tim and Debra Mash and husband Marc;
father Leo R. Bogue Sr.; three brothers Richard Bogue and wife Millie,
Jerry Bogue and wife Donna and William Bogue and wife Wanda; three sisters
Patricia Waidmann and husband Charlie, Sharon Casarotto and husband John
and Shirley Click; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nieces;
nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Mary was a devoted wife, loving mother, daughter, grandmother, great
grandmother, sister, good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly
missed.
Mary Louise Menz nee Bogue was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Missouri. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at
Holy Cross Church, Cuba, Missouri at 10 a.m. with Father James Finder
officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home,
Cuba, Missouri.
Eric Marvin Parrett, Jr.
Eric Marvin Parrett, Jr. was born November 3, 1933 in Chicago,
Illinois. He died September 12, 2004 at Seasons Nursing Home, Vidor,
Texas. He was 70 years, 9 months and 9 days old.
Eric went to Cherryville High School where he met Bonnie Watkins. After
graduating in 1952, Eric moved to St. Louis, Missouri and worked for the
Dazar Electric Company. He and Bonnie were married July 3, 1953 in
Steelville, Missouri. They lived several years in St. Louis and
surrounding areas. They moved to Houston, Texas for a short time, then
moved to Vidor, Texas. He lived for 41 years in Texas. Eric was an
employee of the Owens-Illinois Company as a diesel mechanic for 23 years.
Eric was well known for his guitar playing and singing. He and his
youngest brother Richard would get together often and play their guitars
and sing. He was a great fan of Hank Williams and played and sang his
songs for many years until a stroke impaired his ability to play the
guitar. He also liked to fish and on his visits to Missouri, he and his
brother Pete would go fishing and always came home with a good string of
fish.
Eric coached a womens softball team for several years and Bonnie was
one of his star players. His children and grandchildren inherited his and
Bonnie's love for the game.
Some time after Bonnie's death on May 26, 2000, Eric decided to
remarry. He and Shirley Louise Asher were married in August 2002 in Vidor,
Texas. Tina Louise preceded him in death on September 10, 2004.
Those who remain to mourn his passing are his children Patricia (Larry)
Wunderlich of Houston, Texas, Judy (Mark) Oldberry of Vidor, Texas, Eric
III (MarryAnne) of Vidor, Texas and Michael (Dianne) of Vidor, Texas;
brothers and sister-in-laws Roberta (George) Wallen and Richard (Junell)
Parrett and the late Joyce (Ellis) Gray, and Peter Parrett; grandchidren
Brandy Robichau, Caleena Moore, Nathan Parrett and Nickol Parrett; step
grandchilren Jennifer (Jeffery) Cohen and Mark Oldberry, nieces and
nephews, and other relatives
Preceding Eric in death were an infant daughter Deborah Ann; his wives,
Bonnie Watkins and Shirley Louise Asher; his parents Eric and Elizabeth
(Betty) Parrett.
Eric will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
Memorial services were September 26, 2004 at 4 p.m. at 630 Alamo
Street, Vidor, Texas. Cremation arrangements were arranged by Memorial
Funeral Home, Vidor, Texas.
Shirley Louise Parrett
Shirley Louise Parrett nee Asher of Vidor, Texas, was born Friday,
December 7, 1945 at Cherryville, Missouri, a daughter of the late William
E. "Bill" and Hazel (Worley) Asher.
She entered eternal life Friday, September 10, 2004 at Vidor, Texas at
the age of 58 years, 9 months and 3 days.
In 1969, Shirley was united in marriage to Paul Solis. Two sons, Victor
and Rolondo and two daughters Bianca and Sara Solis were born to this
union.
She was united in marriage to Eric "Buck" Parrett, son of the late Eric
and Betty Parrett, in 2001. He died two days after Shirley in Texas
without the knowledge of her passing.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two
brothers, John "Johnny" Lesley Asher and William "Billy" Rodney Asher.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving children, Victor
Solis, Bianca Solis, Sara Solis, and Rolondo Solis and wife Manuella, all
of California; brothers and sisters, Fritz and Ann Asher of Hermann,
Missouri, Bob and Wanda Asher of Cherryville, Missouri, Bonnie Jones,
Ronny and Lindel Asher, Judy and Louis Dicus, and Karen and Rob Siles, all
of Steelville, Missouri, Wanda McMillan of Orange, Texas, Tina Asher of
Springfield, Missouri, Linda and Bill Dodd, Cathy and Brian Tucker and
Randy and Amy Asher, all of Cuba, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was 10 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004, at the Britton
Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. A Memorial Service was held
in the Britton Chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2004 with Rev.
Bob Coleman officiating. Musical selections were provided by Edward Cox.
Interment is in Orange, Texas. Local arrangements were entrusted to the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Hyle Ray Wood
Hyle Ray Wood was born Saturday, August 4, 1923 at Viburnum, Missouri a
son of the late Richard Rufas Wood and Anna (Hensley) Wood.
He departed this life Monday, September 13, 2004 at his home in
Steelville, Missouri at the age of 81 yeas, 1 month and 9 days.
Hyle Ray Wood was united in marriage to Alice Hardin on September 3,
1946 in Potosi, Missouri. Two sons, Winford and Allan and one daughter,
Rosella, were born to this union. They have enjoyed 58 years together.
He served his country in the United States Navy from January 1943,
receiving an honorable discharge, January 1946.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers
and sister-in-law, Herman and Virginia Wood and Fred Wood; and two
brother-in-laws Claude Skaggs and Emmett Smith.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving wife, Alice
Wood of the home in Steelville, Missouri; two sons, Winford Wood and wife
Marlaine of Wentzville, Missouri, Allan Wood and wife Victoria of
Marthasville, Missouri; one daughter Rosella Helm and husband Clyde of
Steelville, Missouri.
One brother Walter Wood and wife Mary Ann of Florissant, Missouri; two
sisters, Rosella Skaggs of Berryman, Missouri and Pauline Smith of
Steelville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Sarah and Sam, Jessica,
Kathryn, Daniel, Cassie and Paul; and two great grandchildren, Austin and
Tatum; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Hyle Ray Wood lay in state after 4 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2004,
at the Briton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 at
the Britton Chapel with Chaplain Jerry Pearson officiating. Eulogies were
provided by his sons, Allan Wood and Winford Wood. Committal prayers and
interment were in the Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
Serving as pallbearers were Sarah and Sam Wood, Jessica, Kathryn and
Daniel Wood, and Brennan Gough. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of
Britton Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
