MO Local Obituaries for the Week of October 1, 2003 Virginia Marie Wood Virginia Marie Wood nee Harmon was born Saturday, March 8, 1924 at Shirley, Missouri, a daughter to the late Roy Owen Harmon and the late Ella Susan (Harper) Harmon. Virginia entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at the Cedar Crest Manor in Washington, Missouri at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 15 days. Virginia was united in marriage by Rev. D. D. Dobkins at Berryman, Missouri, November 24, 1941, to Herman C. Wood. They enjoyed over fifty-three years together before his passing on February 8, 1995. From this union, two children were born. In addition to her husband and parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers and sisters-in-law; Virgil Harmon and wife Geneva, Clyde Harmon; and two brothers-in-law; Floyd Eye and George Easley. Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her son Bill Wood of Berryman, Missouri and her daughter and son-in-law Della Salasso and husband Tony of Union, Missouri; her brothers and sisters-in-law, LeRoy Harmon and wife Brenda of Indiana, James Harmon and wife Judy of Imperial, Missouri, Kelley Harmon and wife Betty of Alton, Illinois, Cliff Harmon and wife Kathleen of rural Potosi, Missouri; her sisters, Opal Eye of Shirley, Missouri and Mildred Easley of Desoto, Missouri; sister-in-law Edith Mae Harmon of Desoto, Missouri; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Walter and Mary Ann Wood of Florissant, Missouri, Hyle and Alice Wood and Pauline Smith of Steelville, Missouri and Rosella Skaggs of Berryman, Missouri. Also remaining are grandchildren Maria Salasso, Steffani Salasso, Domenic Salasso, Richard Wood and wife Mary, Jennifer Bean and husband Hal, Amy Joslin and husband Chris; great- grandchildren Elizabeth Marie Sullentrup, Lauren Bean, Gracie Bean, and Madeline Joslin; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Virginia Marie Woods lay in state 5-9 p.m., Thursday, September 25, 2003 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2003, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Melvin Reed officiating. Musical selections were provided by Becky Easley. Committal prayers and interment were in the Upper Indian Creek Cemetery, rural Viburnum, Missouri. Pallbearers were Jennifer Bean, Amy Joslin, Maria Salasso, Steffani Salasso, Rich Wood, and Domenic Salasso.
