Britton of Arnold, Missouri was born January 13, 1929 to Roy E. and Alice (Turnbough) Britton and passed away August 29, 2011 at the age of 82 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Corporal in the Army. He saw action on the battlefield including Heartbreak Ridge. After being discharged from the service in 1952 he met and married Freda Headrick on May 15, 1953. James worked for Alvey Conveyor Mfg. until 1954 and for National Lead until 1957. He then began his career with the U.S. Postal Service, as a letter carrier, until his retirement in January of 1993. Having been an active member of several churches throughout his life, James belonged to First Baptist Church of Arnold, Missouri. The Britton family lived in south St. Louis, Missouri and Lemay until moving to Arnold in 1964. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Freda M. Britton; children, Mary Beth (Joseph) Culpepper, Anita (Geno) LaRosa and David (Zana) Britton; grandchildren, Brittany, Kinsey and Carson; great grandchild, Mia; sisters, Margaret Beers, Ima Compton and Ina Carey; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lillian Christ, Winford Headrick and George Carey; other relatives and friends. (Dinning) Anderson on December 22, 1925 in Green Forest, Arkansas and passed away Saturday, October 01, 2011 at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 85 years. Dorothy was a homemaker and a member of Covenant Praise Church of God. She enjoyed sewing, canning, cooking, gardening, playing Aggravation, card games and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Glen Eugene Carter Glen Eugene Carter, 88, of St. Robert, Missouri was born June 21, 1923, in Rolla, Missouri to James and Mabel Carter and passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the age of 88 years. Glen served in the United State Air Force and was a WWII veteran. He retired after 20 years from Civil Service (Motor Transportation). Two of his greatest loves were spending time with his family and playing his guitar in church. Conway Florence E. Conway of St. James, Missouri was born in Shannon County Missouri on January 5, 1916 to Charley and Ethel (Shoults) Wood and passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in St. James at the age of 95 years. Florence was united in marriage to T. Bluford Conway on June 13, 1936 and to this union six children were born. Florence was very musical, playing the piano, accordion and the guitar, she loved all types of music. Florence was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church in St. James where her husband T. Bluford Conway served as Pastor for many years. She loved flowers and a nice box of chocolates. Dwight Gutzler Dwight Gutzler of San Marcos, Texas was born on July 20, 1922 to Paul and Eleanor (Holly) Gutzler in Contralia, Illinois and passed away on September 25, 2011 in the Regent Care Center of San Marcos, Texas at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 13 days of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Elanor Gutzler. Calvin’s passion in life was writing, recording and playing music. He played music at the Sullivan Bowling Alley for years and everywhere else he ever lived or traveled through. He owned a music store in Sullivan and later in Phoenix, Arizona. The last several years he was a tour guide “Coyote Cal” in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. He was the inventor of the “Papi System” which is used in photography. During his younger years he enjoyed playing golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Rena Ivie; one daughter, Tammy Ivie; second wife, Judy Ivie; three brothers, AB, JR and Marvin Ivie; one sister, Hazel Hutson; other relatives and friends. Erna Delores Kinkead Erna Delores (Cornick) Kinkead, was born at home just outside St. James, Missouri on April 23, 1925, to Walter H. and Leonora (Feldmann) Cornick and passed away Friday September 30, 2011 at the Golden Living Center of St. James at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 7 days. She was baptized at the Morrison Camp south of St. James when she was about 13 years of old. She attended First Church of God in St. James for many years, and most recently at First Church of God in Salem where her son John is the pastor. Delores graduated from John F. Hodge High, St. James in 1943. She had been a basketball cheerleader and good student. She was the only member of her family that finished high school and graduated with a diploma. She attended college briefly in Springfield, Missouri after graduation, then taught school for two years before her marriage. She was a Grape and Fall Festival attendant in 1946 just weeks before her marriage. She was united in marriage to James Alfred Kinkead on November 17, 1946. They enjoyed 41 happy years together before his death in 1987. To this union was born two sons. Delores was very active in the community, working with the Friendship Club to make quilts, provide meals at auctions, and reach out to neighbors with cards, cookies, and especially her pies. These pies were her claim to fame, and she had a box of blue ribbons to prove it. She continued to work in the community doing respite work until age 80. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Leonora; her husband, James; two sisters, Dorothy Trettenero and Genovieve Krueger; six brothers, Walter Cornick, George Cornick, Alford Cornick and his still born twin, Marvin Cornick and Don Cornick. She is survived by her brother, Leonard Cornick of St James, Missouri; sons, John Kinkead and wife Pat of Rolla, Missouri and Steve Kinkead and wife Teri of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Sydney Ashton Marrs Sydney Ashton Marrs was born Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in Belleville, Illinois to Christopher and Lori Marrs and passed away Tuesday morning September 27, 2011 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Illinois at the age of 3 years. Sydney enjoyed dancing, swimming, swinging, arts and crafts-especially the glue, playing outside, driving her Mustang with no hands and riding her tricycle. Sydney was known to be extremely busy, “busy hands and busy feet.” She always loved to give big hugs, had a great belly laugh and was a very joyful and happy kid. Sponge Bob Square Pants, Wiggles and Dora were some of her favorite entertainers. Bugging her older sister always made her laugh the loudest. Riding the “Big” tractor in the country with Grandpa Don was always very special to her. Vincent Matlock Vincent Stuart Matlock, was born, December 25, 1943 to James Matthew and Clara Ellen Head Matlock, in St. James, Missouri  and passed away Monday, September 26, 2011, in his home, Climax Springs, Missouri at the age of 67 years, 9 months and 1 day. On March 22, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Ryken.  Together they shared seven years of marriage. Vince was raised in St. James, Missouri and was a graduate of John F. Hodge High School in the class of 1961. He moved to the Kansas City area and began a career in commercial construction.  He moved to a farm in Cleveland, Missouri and began farming while continuing in construction. He retired to the Lake of the Ozarks nine years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved hunting and fishing. He spent many hours trap shooting and was a member of a trap shooting club. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clara Matlock; a brother, Charles R. Matlock and two sisters, Joy Froelich and Betty Shuey. Richard retired after many years in Restaurant Management for Red Lobster Restaurants in Texas. He was bilingual in five languages and enjoyed reading his Bible daily, history buff, talking politics, watching football and playing pinochle at the Cuba Senior Center. Clair Ann Smith Claire Ann (Lupberger) Smith of St. James, Missouri was born May 15, 1921 at Dillon, Missouri to Augusta and Frieda (Alt) Lupberger and passed away Sunday October 2, 2011 at the St. James Golden Living Center. She was 90 years, 4 months and 17 days of age. On June 30, 1979 in Crossville, Tennessee, Claire was united in marriage to Le Roy R. Smith. He passed away March 2, 2009. Claire was a beautician most of her life in Tennessee. After her retirement she moved back to St. James to be close to her sisters. She is survived by three step children; sisters, Joyce Watkins and Gussie Pohle, both of Rolla, Missouri; niece, Gayla Pohle; nephews, Dwight Pohle and wife Chris, all of Rolla, Missouri and David Watkins of St. James, Missouri. He honorably served his country in the US Army, and married Mary Koelling on July 3, 1950 in South Dakota. Paul was a member Cement Masons Local Union #527.  He was an avid gardener and loved following the St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #69 A.F.&A.M., American Legion Post #81, was a past Bourbon City Council Member, and active for years in the Democratic Party. Debra was an office manager for St. Joseph Imaging Solutions.  She had previously worked at Ladicom of St. Joseph and Paramount Apparel in Bourbon, Missouri. She was a member of Three Angels Seventh Day Adventist Church of St. Joseph, Missouri. She enjoyed stamping and crafting. On December 16, 1951 in Maplewood, Missouri, she was united in marriage to George Robert “Bob” Weber. Dorothy worked at Boeing Aircraft in St. Louis as an accounting supervisor for many years and retired in 2000. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Gray Summit. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Wymer of Bourbon, Missouri was born in rural Bourbon, Missouri on February 7, 1929 to Luther and Alice Mae (Payne) Wymer and passed away at his home on Friday, September 23, 2011 at the age of 82 years. He was a life-long resident of the Bourbon area and as a youngster worked at the sawmill. On December 24, 1949 he was united in marriage to Shirley Roach at Leasburg, Missouri.  Clifford was employed for a time at Paramount Headwear Company in Bourbon and later as an assistant furnace operator at Meramec Mining Company in Sullivan, Missouri and had worked there until his retirement. Clifford enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time at the Simmerly Sawmill with friends and family.  Clifford is also remembered for his love of life and animals. he was preceded in death by parents, Luther and Alice Wymer; three brothers, Ovie, Calvin and Eldon Wymer and one sister, Dorothy Ive.
