MO Local Obituaries for the Week of October 9, 2019 Darrell Edgar Blum Darrell Edgar Blum, formerly of Bourbon, Missouri, was born on April 4, 1939 in Bourbon, Missouri to William and Hester (Lutzenburg) Blum and passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the age of 80 years. Due to some complicated learning disabilities, he lived at home with his parents most of his life. Later on in his adult years, Darrell went to live at Sunset Health Care Center where he enjoyed the company of the other residents. He especially loved attending the church services at Sunset. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Hester Blum; and a brother, William "Bill" Blum Jr. He is survived by his three brothers, Richard Blum and wife Phyllis of Sullivan, Missouri, Marvin Blum of Sullivan, Missouri and Albert Blum and wife Georgia of Bourbon, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with Dean Hollenbeck officiating. Diane Lee Borscha Diane Lee (Auxier) Borscha of St. James, Missouri was born June 26, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois to Voris S. and Anna Deluca Auxier and passed away on September 23, 2019 at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 29 days. She was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy as a teenager. Later on she worked at Crystal Pines Nursing Home in Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her father, Voris Auxier; one brother, William E. Auxier; and one niece, Marie. She is survived by her mother, Anna Deluca Auxier of St. James, Missouri; son, Donald Robert Borscha of St. James, Missouri; brothers, Samuel J. Daily of Rolla, Missouri was born in Paducah, Kentucky on August 23, 1945 to Ova and Reba (Malone) Lewis and passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the age of 74 years. Sharon was a true child of God, she attended church regularly as her health permitted, but was always serving her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed shopping, interior designing and spending time outdoors doing yardwork. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ova and Reba Lewis; one sister, Loena Zifko; and one granddaughter. Metcalf of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of St. James, Missouri was born on June 10, 1936 in High Gate, Missouri to Louis J. and Dovie Reynolds Bullock and passed away on October 3, 2019 at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 23 days. Betty married Thomas C. Metcalf Jr. on December 18, 2004 at Duluth, Georgia. Betty was an adventurous person who loved to meet new people, make friends and to travel. She visited her pen pal from Australia and years later traveled to Alaska, Great Britain and France. She and Tom honeymooned in Yellowstone National Park where they braved -32 degree weather and rode snowmobiles. In her younger years she explored the countryside on her motorcycle. Whether it was teaching Sunday school, zip lining across a creek, sledding with her kids or playing Mrs. Claus at the community center, no adventure was too big for her. She loved Princess Diana memorabilia and finding interesting items and the best deal at yard sales. Her favorite job was as a traveling licensed practical nurse with Meramec Home Health Agency. After her nursing career she worked as a parent educator. Before moving to Springfield Tom and Betty were active in the Lord's work and worshiped at the First Church of God in St. James, Missouri. Love and concern for families led her to create "God's Special Treasures" (gift baskets for infants in need of essential items). Betty also joined Tom in supporting work of the Gideons. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Dovie Bullock; sisters, Ruth Lovelace, Helen Bartle, Alice Duckworth and May Kinsey; and brothers, Edward, Everet, Jack, Leonard and Bob Bullock. She is survived by husband, Thomas Metcalf Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; sons, Terry Chew of Atlanta, Georgia and Benjamin Davis of Davisville, Missouri; daughters, Trina Davis of Park Hills, Missouri, Susan Blakey and husband Gary of Ozark, Missouri and Reva Davis of Springfield, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Alberta Bullock of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Jill Amos, Shuria Davis, Caitlin Winkler and husband Brandon, Caleb Davis and Hannah Cochran; four great grandchildren, Parker Amos, Hunter Amos, Mason Winkler and Emersyn Winkler; other relatives and friends. Linda Sue Thompson Linda Sue Thompson (nee Jackson) of Florissant, Missouri and previously of Cuba, Missouri, was born on Friday, October 27, 1961 in Rolla, Missouri to Jimmy Dean and Helen Louise Wisdom Jackson and passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at the age of 57 years, 11 months and 6 days. Linda graduated from Salem Senior High School. She worked as a waitress for many years and later as a nurse's aide in Salem, Missouri until her health began to fail her. She had attended Sullivan Family Worship with her sister, Vicky. Linda loved to read, that was her ultimate hobby and it didn't matter what genre. She enjoyed to crochet, eating at Missouri Hick and she loved her dog. She was a resident of Cuba Manor for two years and loved all of her friends and fellow residents there, especially socializing and playing bingo. She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Jackson. She is survived by her mother, Helen Jackson of Salem, Missouri; son, Jeremy (Stephanie) Brooks of Florissant, Missouri; grand- children, Mercede O'Brien and Colan Brooks, both of Florissant, Missouri; sisters, Sandy (Paul) Foley of O'Fallon, Missouri and Vicky (Danny) Gladden of Steelville, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Douglas Alan "Doug" Vaughn Douglas Alan "Doug" Vaughn of Bourbon, Missouri was born on December 18, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri to Arliss Vaughn and Roberta Lancaster-Vaughn and passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the age of 59 years. He grew up around Festus, Missouri and graduated from Crystal City High School. For 33 years, Doug worked as a CNC machinist and later a programmer and also production manager. From 1998-2014 Doug was part owner of ACT in Cuba, Missouri, doing what he loved, making parts for aerospace. Doug was most recently employed by Sullivan Precision Metal Finishing in Sullivan, Missouri from 2016-2019. Doug married Diane E. Roskilly on July 13, 1991 in Cuba, Missouri. They raised Diane's two boys, Sean and Eric, together. The boys were involved in sports and Doug did his best to make it to as many sporting events as possible. On January 24, 1999 Doug accepted Christ the Lord as his personal savior and was baptized at Concordia Lutheran Church of Bourbon, Missouri. Later, he served as an Elder for several years, taught Sunday school and worked with the youth group, where they served luncheons for Berti Auctions to help the youth earn money for church camps and gatherings. Doug was very involved with his church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with his grandchildren and cruising; Alaska was one of his favorite places. He was preceded in death by his father, Arliss Vaughn; step mother, Argenta "Jane" Vaughn; one brother, Dean Vaughn; and father-in-law, Larry Roskilly. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Diane Vaughn of Bourbon, Missouri; two sons, Sean Kaysinger and wife Amanda of Bourbon, Missouri and Eric Kaysinger and wife Laura of Pacific, Missouri; mother, Roberta Smith and husband Jim of Bourbon, Missouri; mother-in-law, Darlene Cole of Union, Missouri; four grandchildren, Molly, Allison, Troy and Reese; one step sister, Kelly Smith-Bauer and husband Walter of Wildwood, Missouri; sisters-in-law: Charlene Mincemeyer and husband Dean of Leslie, Missouri, Christina Skyles and husband Mike of Union, Missouri, Janelle Milheiser and partner Jim Wilkinson of Washington, Missouri and Kathy Vaughn of St Clair, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
