MO Local Obituaries for the Week of October 11, 2007 Hazel Eliza Collins Hazel Eliza Collins (nee Armstrong) of Sullivan, Missouri was born May 14, 1919 to Robert and Julia Armstrong and passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the age of 88 years. After schooling she taught grade school in Washington and Franklin Counties for five years. In 1939 she relocated to the St. Louis, Missouri area where she married Arvel Collins in 1941. A son, John Robert was stillborn in August 1952. They lived in High Ridge, Missouri for 30 years where they boarded quarter horses and enjoyed pleasure riding. Hazel was employed in the financial field until she retired in 1983. In 1994 she moved to Sullivan, Missouri to be closer to her relatives. She enjoyed volunteering four years at Sullivan Elementary as a teacher’s aide and then four years tutoring at Meramec Valley Handicap School for the Literary Council of East Central Missouri. She was an active and dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sullivan. She volunteered much of her time visiting those that were ill or shut-in. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son; her brother, Julian Armstrong of St. Clair, Missouri and her sister, Clarcie Snyder of Sullivan, Missouri. She is survived by her sister, Roberta Holmes of Sullivan, Missouri; her brothers, Harold Armstrong of Cuba, Missouri, Clyde Armstrong of Naples, Florida and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service was Friday, September 28, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Sullivan with the Reverend Ann Pitman officiating. Interment was in Oddfellows Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4:30 until 8 p.m., Thursday evening, September 27, 2007 from the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Missouri and Friday, September 28, 2007 at 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church. Michael Phillip Hutson Michael Phillip Hutson of Cuba, Missouri was born on Friday, July 16, 1982 in Rolla, Missouri to Michael Harvey Hutson and Michele Rene Schmaltz Hutson. He passed away Saturday, September 29, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri at the age of 25 years, 2 months and 13 days. Michael worked for several months as a powder coater at the Electro-Core plant in Washington, Missouri. He enjoyed sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and hanging out with friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bertha Hutson; aunt, Cecelia Schmaltz and uncle, Michael V. Chymiak. Burial was in Kinder Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri with pallbearers Tony Hutson, Doug Hutson, Adam Siess, Mike Goude, Chris Kindermann and Derek Williams. Chester Politte Chester Politte of Cuba, Missouri, was born in 1933 in Sullivan, Missouri to Abraham Lewis Polite and Mary Olivia (nee Littrell) Politte and passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2007 at the age of 74 years. He was one of 10 children. He was married to Bonnie Lou Bull and to this union five children were born. Chester worked as a lineman and for many years for L.E. Meyers and IBEW Local #2. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping along the Meramec River. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Robin Dale Politte; a daughter, Mary Ann Syrene, three grandchildren; four brothers, Albert, Clarence, Chester and Lester Politte; and two sisters, Pearl Woodcock and Louise Cross. He is survived by one son, Chester Politte, Jr. of Cuba, Missouri; two daughters, Tena and Kim Politte of Sullivan, Missouri; two brothers, James and Winford Politte of Sullivan, Missouri; a sister, Mildred Miller; other relatives and friends. Funeral service was Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 7 p.m. with Mike Delashmit officiating. Interment was in Historic Buffalo Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2007. Wilma Marie Rutz Wilma Marie Rutz of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Joseph and Rosa (Halmich) Pollock on November 14, 1922 in Rosebud, Missouri and passed away Thursday, October 4, 2007 in Owensville, Missouri at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 21 days. Wilma was united in marriage to Lewis Rutz on April 19, 1941 in Owensville, Missouri and to this union six children were born. She was a parishioner at Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of the Extension Club. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, embroidering, gardening, canning, fishing, dancing, a good laugh and most of all the times that she shared with her family. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harry Pollock. She is survived by her husband; six children, Loretta and husband John Cowling of Cuba, Missouri, Patricia and husband Paul Maerli of Cuba, Missouri, Glen and wife Jane Rutz of Lyon, Mississippi, Joseph and wife Cheryl Rutz of Washington, Missouri, Mary Rutz of Cuba, Missouri and Charles and wife Betty Rutz of Springfield, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Cowling of Cuba, Missouri, David Maerli of Springfield, Missouri, Mark Maerli of Labadie, Missouri, Carson Rutz of Metairie, Louisiana, Shelby Bunge of Labadie, Missouri, Carrie Freese of Washington, Missouri, Leslie Rutz of Washington, Missouri, Anthony Rutz of Washington, Missouri, Jared Rutz of Alexandria, Virginia and Lauren Rutz of Toronto, Canada; six great grandchildren; step-brother, Robert Piofcyk of Rosebud, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Wideman nee Faulkner of Owensville, Missouri was born on Wednesday, September 19, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri to George Faulkner and Esther Whitney Faulkner. She passed away in her home on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the age of 79 years and 15 days. Marion was a loving mother of six children and adored her grandchildren. She had been employed for more than 30 years as an inspector of Von Weise Gear Co. in St. Clair, Missouri then later worked for several years at Mobil Pump Handle in Bourbon, Leasburg, and Rolla. She very much enjoyed her pets and was a good cook. She was also remembered as one who loved to whistle. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville Wideman; sisters, Dorothy Steinmetz and Beverly Collet; brothers, George, William, and Donald Faulkner, Emmett, Alvin and Edward Garth.
