MO Local Obituaries for the Week of October 11, 2017 Bailey Jack Ballard Bailey Jack Ballard of Steelville, Missouri was born May 9, 1943 in Warrior, Alabama to Gladdin and Armendie Leary Davis Ballard and passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 22 days. In St. Louis, Missouri on April 3, 1965, he was united in marriage to Rose Lee Anderson and to this union two sons were born. Bailey was a machinist at Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis, Missouri for 28 years retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Local District 9. Bailey attended the Church of Christ. He enjoyed watching Alabama football, fishing, playing racket ball and feeding the birds. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladdin and Armendie Ballard; three sisters, Marcella Hart, Violet Picket and Shirley Lemley; and three brothers, Earsie Ballard, Basil Ballard and Joe Ballard. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rose Ballard of Steelville, Missouri; two sons, Shawn Mark Ballard and wife Michelle of San Angelo, Texas and Jeffrey Scott Ballard of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters, Porsia Ann Anderson of Cullman, Alabama and Jan Mercer of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; other relatives and friends. The family chose cremation as the final disposition. Inurnment will be at a later date in the spring. Betty Eileen Hamilton Betty Eileen Hamilton (nee Weigle) of Cuba, Missouri was born on February 23, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri to Rudolph and Alvina Weigle Lerbs (nee Wirz) and passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 6 days. She graduated from Soldan High School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1945. Betty married James L. Hamilton Sr. on March 2, 1946 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Louis, Missouri. The couple settled in Cuba, Missouri where they raised their three children. She enjoyed spending time in her garden and sewing. Betty touched many lives during the years she spent as a leader in the Oak Hill 4-H Club. Betty was also known for her many favorite family dishes that she always seemed to whip up on a moment's notice. She loved all animals (except snakes) but she especially loved the time she had in the last few years to give her puppy dogs lots of love and always had a couple on her lap enjoying their warmth and comfort. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Rudolph Weigle and Alvina Weigle Lerbs husband, James L. Hamilton Sr.; and siblings, Olga Weigle, Sammuel Weigle, Catherine West, Francis Weigle and Hazel Catanzaro. She is survived by her children, James L. Hamilton Jr. and wife Mary of Cuba, Missouri, Ronald Hamilton and wife Kae of Hermitage, Missouri and Cheryl Hamilton of Washington, Missouri; grandchildren, Tim Hamilton and fianceŽ Tara, Todd Hamilton, Troy Hamilton and wife Stacey, DeShae Trasher and husband Mark, Alex Hamilton, Sarah Contarini and boyfriend Mike and Jonathan Contarini and fianceŽ Brianna; nine great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. A gathering to celebrate Betty's life was held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cuba, Missouri. Memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at the St. Paul's Luterhan Church in Cuba, Missouri. Elsie LaFern Tipton Elsie LaFern Tipton of St. James, Missouri was born on September 15, 1924 in St. James, Missouri to Glen Sr. and Viola (Asher) Shuey and passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the age of 93 years and 18 days. Elsie was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in St. James, Missouri. She enjoyed reading her Bible and attending church. She loved to cook and have family and friends over for a meal. On November 7, 1961 Elsie Mounce married Virgil Tipton. They were married for 22 years before Virgil passed in 1983. Elsie spent most of her working career as a sewing machine operator in the local factories. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen Sr. and Viola Shuey; her children's father, Homer Mounce Sr; brothers, Clifford Shuey, Richard Shuey, Gordon Shuey and Glen Shuey Jr; sisters, Doris Plummer and Maxine Steen; and step-daughter, Sandra Hoffman. She is survived by her children, Homer Mounce Jr. and wife Daphne of Steelville, Missouri and Wanda Gibson and husband Terry of St. James, Missouri; sister, Dorothy Norris of St. James, Missouri; grandchildren, Joy Grubaugh (Darryl), Jared Gibson (Megan), Sherri Martin (Randy), Mike Mounce (Rhonda), Brad Mounce, Christopher Mounce, and Shirley Steen (James); several great and great-great- grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the St. James Chapel of the James & Gahr Mortuary with Pastor Michael Mounce officiating. Internment was in the St. James Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the James & Gahr Mortuary in St. James, Missouri. Sarah Marie Wagoner Sarah Marie Wagoner of St. James, Missouri was born on February 13, 1978 in Rolla, Missouri to Eugene "Gene" and Janalyn "Jan" Gayle Koenegstein Lefebvre and passed away on September 30, 2017 at the age of 38 years, 7 months and 19 days of age. Sarah was a dietitian at the Maries Manor in Vienna, Missouri and manager of several area restaurants. She is survived by her father, Eugene Lefebvre of St. James, Missouri; three sons, Roger Alexander "Alex" Wagoner III of Jerome, Missouri, Nicholas Andrew Wagoner of Jerome, Missouri and Jacob Scott Wagoner of Jerome, Missouri; one brother, Eugene Lefebvre and wife Joanne of St. James, Missouri; nephew, Michael Eugene Lefebvre of Rolla, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri. Funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James, Missouri with Mick Thrasher officiating.
