MO Local Obituaries for the Week of October 13, 2015 Clarence Eugene Colyott Clarence "Gene" Eugene Colyott of Steelville, Missouri was born April 16, 1929 in Lesterville, Missouri to Clarence Edgar and Effie Jane Huff Colyott and passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at the age of 86 years. He was united in marriage to Flora "Toots" Hammerschmidt and she passed away in 1992. He later married Cleo Alta Burrus who also passed away in 2005. Gene always enjoyed taking time to go fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Effie Colyott; his first wife, Flora Colyott; second wife, Cleo Colyott; one son, Clarence Eugene Colyott, Jr.; four brothers, Olin Gipson, Daniel Gipson, Ivan Colyott and Bill Colyott; and two sisters, Lillie Laramore and Delsie Laramore. He is survived by his son, Joe Colyott of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Theresa Bick of St. Louis, Missouri and Vicki Stephens of Columbia, Illinois; two brothers, Henry Gipson of Fayetteville, Illinois and Cleval Colyott of Princeton, Illinois; two sisters, Edna Mahurin of Mt. Grove, Missouri and Dessie Wake of Annapolis, Missouri; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The family chose cremation as the final disposition. Betty JoAnn Gibbs Betty JoAnn Gibbs was born February 25, 1932 at Vienna, Missouri to Guy Delmar and Ann Elizabeth (Prewitt) Wofford and passed away October 7, 2015 at the age of 83 years. On December 30, 1947 Betty was united in marriage to Dorman Gibbs. Betty was a member of the Hobson Community Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing the piano, singing and spending time with her dog, Trouble. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Ann Wofford; husband, Dorman; son, Jerry Joe Gibbs Sr.; and sisters, Donna Richmond and June Tyler. He was united in marriage to Clara Missey on March 18, 1963. After 24 years of marriage and four children they divorced. Russell was an over the road truck driver most of his life. His last employment was for Flying J Truck Plaza. He later met Gladys Loden and they were companions until she passed away. Russell was a resident of Life Care Center in Sullivan, Missouri for the past few years. He enjoyed listening to classic country music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Bobbie Mercer; his sister, Grace Mercer; and companion, Gladys Loden in January 2015. He is survived by two sons, Russell Mercer of Bourbon, Missouri and Richard Mercer of Potosi, Missouri; two daughters, Vickie LaRue and husband Ronald of Sullivan, Missouri and Amanda West and husband Mike of Rolla, Missouri; several step children and step grandchildren; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In August of 1938 in Union, Missouri, Gladys was united in marriage to Delbert Moutray.Gladys attended Fairview Baptist Church for many years. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and quilting. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Alice Hicks; her husband, Delbert Moutray in 1985; infant daughter, Sandra Kay Moutray; three brothers, Bill, Clyde and Merle Hicks; and two sisters, Alta Coleman and Nellie Kaiser. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of the Crawford County Democratic Club. She enjoyed volunteering, cake decorating, cooking, canning, quilting, eating out and trains. Chuckie married Clifford A. Phillips on November 7, 1966 at Lemay, Missouri and to this union two children were born. Chuckie owned and operated Video Stop in Cuba for five years. Chuckie enjoyed playing bingo and she got to travel to the casino a couple of times. Chuckie had a green thumb and she spent hours outside working on her flowers and gardening. She attended the Cuba Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bud and Dessie Sellers; one great grandson, Drake Fey; one sister, Merle Koehler; in-laws, Ted Phillips and Doris Hall; two brothers-in-law, Teddy and Matthew Phillips; and special niece, Shelley Koehler. Audrey Marie Skipper Audrey Marie Skipper was born on July 7, 1927 to James Calvin and Vina Marie (Neal) Legg at Clay County, West Virginia and passed away Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the age of 88 years. On July 21, 1984 Audrey was united in marriage to William (Skip) Skipper at Sullivan, Missouri. Audrey was a longtime employee of the former IGA where she was a cashier. She retired from IGA in 1988 and later worked at the Bobber Travel Center. Audrey was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she served as secretary, Chaplin and bar manager. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge Sullivan Chapter #319. He was preceded in death by her husband, William on June 30, 1998. She is survived by two sons, Bill Terry and wife Debbie of Merritt Island, Florida and Don Crow and wife Jeanne of Bourbon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Billy Terry, Teresa Prather, William Donald Terry, Ronnie Terry, Jennifer Terry and James Carter; great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Frances Emma Yeary Frances Emma Yeary (nee Hertlein) was born, July 15, 1910 at Bourbon, Missouri to Frederick and Emma Katherine Biller Hertlein and passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the age of 105 years. On May 4, 1929 in Rolla, Missouri she married Milton B. Yeary and to this union two children were born. Frances grew up in Cuba, Missouri received her teaching certificate in Rolla, Missouri and then moved to the country to teach at the Yeary School. After marrying Milton B. Yeary, she and her husband lived on the land that had been in his family for five generations. She fell in love with the country and being a farmer and a cattleman's wife. Frances grew up attending St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cuba and later became a member at the Steelville Presbyterian Church. In earlier years, she was very active in the Self-Culture Club which helped organize the Steelville Library. Frances loved reading, writing poetry, keeping journals and visiting with her many friends and neighbors. She cherished all nature especially trees, flowers and birds. She was a passionate St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan even until her final days. She loved her special companions, her cats, Annie, Sapphire and Bootsie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Emma Hertlein; her husband, Milton B. Yeary; son, Milton Frederick Yeary; two brothers, Edwin and Oscar Hertlein; two sisters, Anna Mae Sebastian and Lorna Niemiller; one grandson, Matthew Christopher Yeary; one great-grandson, George Reasor Haigh; and son-in-law, George Reasor.
