Floyd Everett Ash
Floyd Everett Ash of Sullivan, Missouri passed away on Saturday, October 6,
2001 at the age of 62 years.
Everett, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on June 15,
1939 at Huzzah, Missouri to George and Elsie (Parker) Ash. He was raised in
Sullivan and attended school there. On February 14, 1959 he was married to
Marilyn Bridgeman at Sullivan. Everett honorably served his country with
the U.S. Army in Europe from March of 1962 to March of 1964. After his
discharge, he was employed at Meramec Mining Company until its closing in
the late 1970s. Everett also was employed in the construction trade for a
time, but the vast majority of Sullivan knew him as the proprietor of
Quality Shoe Repair. In later years, Everett was employed as a salesman for
Carson's Furniture in Union, Missouri. Everett was an avid baseball fan and
enjoyed watching it on television. He was a member of New Testament Church
in Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn nee Bridgeman of the family home; one
son, Randy Lee Ash, also of the family home; three brothers, George Ash of
Sullivan, Jerry Lee Ash of Leasburg, and Gary Ash of Bourbon; two sisters,
Bernice Brewer of Bourbon and Patsy Ann Conway of Steelville, Missouri; two
grandchildren, Crystal Hoerr of Union, Missouri and Cody Utz of St. Clair;
other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Everett was preceded
in death by two brothers, Kenneth Leon Ash and Lloyd L. Ash.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2001 from
the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Charles Idleman officiating.
Interment with military honors was in Cave Spring Cemetery.
Norma Jean Blackwood
Norma Jean "Bobby" Blackwood (nee Mahurin) was born Thursday, June 4, 1931,
at Boss, Mo., a daughter of the late Clarence William Mahurin and Slyvia
Mahurin (nee Sullivan).
She entered eternal rest Wednesday, October 10, 2001, at Crawford County
Health Care, Cuba, Mo., at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 8 days.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roy
Blackwood, and her sister, Lavere "Genevie" Mahurin.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted brother Laverne
Mahurin and companion Delores Phinney of Bourbon, Mo., nieces, nephews,
other relatives and many friends.
Norma Jean Blackwood lay in state after 12 p.m., Friday, October 12, 2001
at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo.
Graveside services were held 1 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2001 at the Freeman
Cemetery, Cherryville, Mo. with Mr. John Britton officiating.
Committal prayers and interment were in the Freeman Cemetery, Cherryville,
Mo.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home,
Steelville, Mo.
Jessie L. Campbell
Jessie L. Campbell of Steelville, Mo. passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2001
at the age of 66 years.
Mrs. Campbell was born on October 22, 1934 in Little Rock, Arkansas to
Frank and Oudia (Mitchell) Jameson. She was raised in various parts of
Arkansas and Missouri and on October 20, 1956 she was married to Roy S.
Campbell in St. Louis, Mo. Roy preceded Jessie in death on July 27, 1997.
Jessie's occupation in life was that of a nurse's aide in the health care
industry. She was employed at Heritage Park in Rolla, Mo. until her
retirement. Jessie attended the Assembly of God in Steelville and was known
as a person who everybody liked. Her hobby was collecting angels and also
found pleasure in crocheting.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy and Diane Jameson
of the state of Montana and David and Peggy Reynolds of the state of
Washington, three daughters, Minnie McGonigal of Salem, Mo., Gennette
Beardsley and husband Ron of Sikeston, Mo., and Betty Evans and husband
Barry of Steelville, Mo., one brother, Harry Jameson of the state of Texas
and one sister, Nannie Waller of Sullivan, Mo., eight grandchildren, eleven
great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
It was the desire of Mrs. Campbell that she be cremated with private family
interment services in Fair View Cemetery, Rolla, Mo. The family was
assisted by the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, Mo.
Floyd Wayne Hartwick
Floyd Wayne Hartwick of Washington, Mo. was born on January 29, 1924 at
Conway, Arkansas to the union of Homer L. Hartwick and Elva (Stewart)
Hartwick and passed away on October 8, 2001 at the St. John's Mercy
Hospital, St. Louis, Mo. at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 9 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Floyd W. Hartwick, Jr.
Floyd was a faithful member of the Calvary Fellowship Church, Fenton, Mo.
On September 10, 1970 he was united in marriage to Anna Mae Barr Wallis in
St. Louis, Mo. They were happily married for 31 years.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife
Anna Mae Hartwick; three sons Danny Hartwick, Rodney Wallis and wife Stacey
and Butch Campbell and wife Debbie; seven daughters, Barbara Bell and
husband Stephen, Priscilla Sodoma and husband Mike, Robin Darnell, Debbie
Waugh, Cindy Birdnow, Debbie Wassilak and husband Danny and Brenda Pogue
and husband Ervin; two brothers Linuell Pugh and wife Velma and Norman
Stewart and wife Marietta; two sisters Velma Potts and husband Pete and
Modena Potts; twenty-five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces;
nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Floyd was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather,
brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Floyd Wayne Hartwick was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
where funeral services were held on Thursday, October 11, 2001 at 11 a.m.
with Rev. Jerry Norris officiating. Interment was in the Czar Cemetery,
Crawford County, Mo. All arrangements were under the direction of the
Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Mo.
Connie Lynn Lamb
Connie Lynn Lamb, nee Dillon, 51 of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away
Thursday, October 4, 2001, at her home with her family and friends present.
Visitation was held at McGilley Midtown Chapel on Friday, October 5.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2001 at St.
Monica's Catholic Church, Kansas City, Missouri. Interment at 4:30 p.m.
Saturday at Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
Connie was born July 10, 1950 in Washington, Missouri. She accepted Jesus
as her Lord early in life and served him faithfully.
She was a legal analyst with the firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon of Kansas
City, Missouri. Connie held a Masters of History degree from the University
of Missouri-Kansas City and a Masters degree in Religious Education from
Loyala University-New Orleans.
She was an active member of the Knights of Peter Clarer Ladies Auxiliary,
Court #57.
Connie was preceded in death by her first husband, Noel Swaney and sister
Nancy Harvey.
She is surived by her husband Wayne Lamb of the home, parents Richard and
Faith Dillon of Jefferson City, Missouri and many relatives and close
friends of the Kansas City and Steelville area.
Pallbearers were Steven Teter, Rob English, John Madison, Joe Weiler, John
Gladden, Don Gladden, Bill Coffman and Hank Epstein.
All arrangements were under the direction of McGilley Midtown Funeral Home.

Edwin B. Ogletree
Edwin B. Ogletree was born on February 13, 1921 in St. Louis, Mo. to Edwin
Austin Ogletree and Irene Ellen Schmidt Ogletree, and passed away on
October 11, 2001 at his home in Bourbon, Mo. at the age of 80 years, 7
months and 28 days.
Edwin served his country during World War II, he worked at the Norton Bomb
Site as a machinist. He made a special wrench that was used on the B-29 and
was later mass produced for the military, He was honorably discharged on
September 2, 1945. He worked as a machinist for Emerson Electric until his
retirement. He was a member of the International Union of Electrical
Workers Local 1102 of the AFL-CIO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, and one sister
Virginia Binsbacher.
Edwin is survived by two sons, two daughters, nine grandchildren, and four
great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Iva Kennedy and
husband Thomas of Festus, Mo., and Myrtle Roach of St. Ann, Mo.; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends, who will sadly miss him.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 14, 2001 at the Hutson Funeral Home
in Cuba, Mo. from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
Funeral service was held on Sunday, October 14, 2001 at Hutson Funeral
Chapel in Cuba, Mo. at 2 p.m. with Mr. Thomas Kennedy officiating. Burial
was in the Kinder Cemetery in Cuba, Mo.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Hutson Funeral Home in
Cuba, Mo.
Eileen Janet Ott
Eileen Janet Ott (nee Blunt) of Terre Du Lac, Bonne Terre, Mo., was born
Thursday, September 9, 1915, at Butts, Mo., a daughter of the late Thomas
League Blunt and Nellie Luticia Blunt (nee Collins).
She entered eternal rest Sunday, October 7, 2001, at St. Joe Manor, Bonne
Terre, Mo., at the age of 86 years, and 28 days.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde
and Bill Blunt and one sister, Mable Summers.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her devoted son Robert
Mullen and wife Lois of Lincoln, California; one brother, Woodrow Blunt and
wife Mary of Crestwood, Mo.; four grandchildren, Michael Mullen and wife
Linda of Walnut Creek, California, Melissa and husband Jeff Ory of Kansas
City, Mo., Michelle and husband Craig Hofmann of St. Louis, Mo., and Sean

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2001, in the Britton
Chapel, Steelville, Mo. with Rev. Dale Starr officiating. Musical selection
were provided by vocalist/organist Deloris Bell.
Committal prayers and interment were in Steelville Cemetery, Steelville,
Mo. Serving as pallbearers were Wayne Blunt, Don Coleman, Ron Coleman,
Craig Hufmann, Mike Mullen and Jeff Ory.

Evelyn Mildred Poncet
Evelyn Mildred Poncet was born Wednesday, December 30, 1921 in Desoto, Mo.
to the late Arthur Burke and Katherine Miller Burke and departed this life
Wednesday, October 3, at the Gibbs Care Center Nursing Home in Steelville,
Mo. at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 3 days.
Evelyn worked as a sales lady for Famous Barr downtown in St. Louis, Mo.
before her retirement, she was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic
Church in Hillsboro, Mo.; a member of the Happy Hour Extension Club, and
loved to camp and travel.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Marcel Poncet.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her loving children David Poncet
of Hazelwood, Mo.; Ruth Ann Baldetta and husband Pasquale of Suisun,
California; Ronald Poncet and wife Judith of Steelville, Gerald Poncet of
US Navy, Pax River, Maryland.
Dear sister and sister-in-law of Walter Burke of Desoto, Mo.; Lorene Hawn
of Ballwin, Mo.; Rose Marie Koch and husband Herman of Desoto, Mo.; and
Vera Poncet of Hillsboro, Mo., six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren,

fondly remember Evelyn Mildred Poncet.

Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2001 at the Good
Shepherd Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Mo. with Fr. Dennis Schmidt
officiating.
Burial was in the Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery in Hillsboro, Mo.
Pallbearers were her grandsons and granddaughters.

Charles Walter Scott
Charles Walter Scott was born Sunday, October 13, 1912, a son of the late
Floyd A. Scott and Nina Mae (Walker) Scott. He departed this life
Wednesday, October 10, 2001, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center,
Sullivan, Mo., at the age of 88 years, 11 months and 27 days.
On May 21, 1938, at Davisville, Mo., Walter was united in marriage to Pansy
Bernice Taff. Two sons and one daughter were born to this union. They have
enjoyed over sixty-three years together.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Freeman
Scott, and one sister Sibyl and husband Glenn Campbell, and
brothers-in-law, and sister-in-law, Joe Taff and Lotetta and husband Emery
Decker.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted wife Pansy
Scott of Steelville, Mo.; two sons, Wayne Edward Scott and wife Suzanne of
Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Charles Floyd Scott and wife Lois of St. Charles, Mo.;
one daughter, Janet Diann Scott of St. Louis, Mo.
Sisters-in-law, Ann Taff of California, Elsie Scott and brother-in-law,
Bill Taff, both of Steelville, Mo.; four grandchildren and nine
great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many
friends.
Charles was a hard worker. His career of choice was a pipefitter for the
Missouri Pacific Railroad in St. Louis. He became an active member of the
Sheet Metal Workers Union. He was proud of the slogan "Made in America."
Charles loved the outdoors. Among his hobbies were gardening, fishing, and
hunting. He was also an avid baseball and football fan. He loved gathering
his family at his cabin on the Meramec for weekly barbecues.
He had a love for family and his country and these value she instilled in
his children and grandchildren. These ideals and his memories will always
live in our hearts.
Charles Walter Scott lay in state 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2001 at the
Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Mo. Masonic Services were held
at 7 p.m. Friday with Lebanon Lodge 77 AF and AM in charge.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2001, in the
Britton Chapel with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Musical selections were
provided by Rev. Beers and Charles' granddaughter Rebecca Pepper, who
played "Life's Railway To Heaven," in honor of her grandfather's career
with the railroad. Special tributes were given by Ruth Creek, Larry Kraft
and Grandson Mike Scott.
Committal prayers and interment were in Liberty Cemetery, Steelville, Mo.
Serving as pallbearers were Marvin Pepper, Dan Scott, Mike Scott, Steve
Scott, Freeman Scott, Jr., and Doug Fitzgerald.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home,
Steelville, Mo.
Clyde William Sellers, Sr.
Clyde William Sellers, Sr. of Sullivan, Missouri was born July 25, 1935 to
the union of Denny Sellers and Effie L. (Callahan) Sellers at Dillard,
Missouri and passed away on October 7, 2001 at Sullivan, Missouri at the
age of 66 years, two months and 12 days.
Clyde retired from McDonnell Douglas/Boeing Aircraft Manufacturing in St.
Louis, Missouri. He attended the First Assembly of God Church of Sullivan,
Missouri.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his children,
Brenda Sellers of Cuba, Missouri; Dr. Terry Sellers and fiancé Renee
Reynolds of Cuba, Missouri; Dr. Butch Sellers and wife Tambra of Sullivan,
Missouri; Rena Tiner and husband Randy of Cuba, Missouri; Connie Kelderman
of Peoria, Illinois and John Bell Sellers of Olympia, Washington.
Three sisters Nina Day and husband Roman of Bixby, Missouri; Daphyne Potter
and husband Louis of Steelville, Missouri; and Gladys Terry of Mt. Vernon,
Illinois; one brother Homer Sellers and wife Mary of Boss, Missouri; 14
grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Clyde was a loving father, grandfather, brother, good friend to all who
knew him and will be sadly missed.
Clyde William Sellers, Sr. was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of
Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Wednesday, October 10,
2001 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Davis officiating. Interment was in Meramec
Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction
of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Nancy "Nicki" Ann Tanner
Nancy "Nicki" Ann Tanner was born October 28, 1952 in Orange County,
Tennessee to the late Earl Wayne Manship and Georgia Lee Keith and departed
this life October 6, 2001 at her home in Cuba, Mo. at the age of 48 years,
11 months and 8 days.
Nicki owned and operated Nicki's barbershop in Cuba, Mo. for the last 3
years moving to Cuba, Mo. from Texas.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother Phillip
Manship.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her three daughters Carol Jo Ann
Woolley and husband Michael of Texas; Sharon Elaine Parsons of Texas; and
LaDonna Lee-gene Webster of Texas; two grandchildren, and two
step-grandchildren, all of Texas and one sister Susie Wilmsitt of Kentucky,
other relatives and many friends all who will fondly remember and sadly
miss Nancy "Nicki" Ann Tanner.
Nancy was cremated and private family service was held in Texas.

William C. Volenetz
William "Bill" Volenetz, a retired executive with Brown Shoe Company in St.
Louis died Friday, September 28, 2001 of complications from a stroke at
Rosewood Care Center. He was 90 years old and lived in Ladue.
A native of Cherryville, Mo., Mr. Volenetz grew up in Steelville, Mo. He
graduated in 1933 with a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics and
business administration from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape
Girardeau.
After graduation, Mr. Volenetz began working as an office manager for the
Brown Shoe Company in St. Louis. In his 45 years with the company, he was
named a member of the board of directors in 1964. Later he was elected
executive vice president of operations. He retired in 1978.
Mr. Volenetz was a former board member for the First National Bank of St.
Louis County and a member of Webster Hills United Methodist Church in
Webster Groves.
His wife, Evelyn Bartle Volenetz, died in 1980. He had no immediate
survivors.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 6 at Webster Hills
United Methodist Church. Emtombment was private at Oak Grove Mausoleum in
St. Louis.
Mr. Volenetz had a home near Steelville close to the Meramec River. He is
fondly remembered for his many "good deeds" to his hometown.
He was a guest of honor at a dinner several years ago hosted by Golden
Echoes Senior Center and the Steelville Chamber of Commerce. He was thanked
in particular, for his support of the senior center and his role in
bringing the Brown Shoe Company plant to Steelville. More than 100 people
came to express their appreciation.
Emmet E. Wood
Emmet E. Wood of Bourbon, Mo. passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at
the age of 77 years.
Mr. Wood was born on July 25, 1924 in Bloodland, Mo. to the late Wayne and
Bessie (Gaede) Wood. As a young boy, he moved with his family to St. Louis.
He continued to reside in the St. Louis area until July 1999, when he and
his wife, Mildred, moved to Bourbon. Emmet worked for many years as a
foreman in the steel industry and later in the construction business.
He enjoyed watching boxing matches on TV, listening to country music, and
cars. Emmet will be remembered and cherished as a hard-working,
strong-willed man who carried a special love in his heart for his
daughters.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Wood of Bourbon; two daughters Janice
Isbell and husband, Robert, of Cuba, Mo. and Pamela Sandifer and husband,
Gene, of House Springs, Mo.; three grandchildren Mathew and Rachel Isbell
and Joshua Sandifer; one great-grandchild, Danielle Isbell; nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Wood
was preceded in death by two brothers, Gus Ruhl and Frank Stewart, one
sister, Daisy Grim, and one grandson, Nathan Isbell.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2001
from the Eaton Chapel in Bourbon with Reverend Leroy Bryant officiating.
Interment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. If desired, contributions may be
made to Mt. Calvary Cemetery Perpetual Care in memory of Mr. Emmet E. Wood.
