MO Local Obituaries for the Week of October 18, 2017 LeAnn Campbell LeAnn Campbell of Lamar, Missouri, formerly of Cuba, Missouri, was born in Burden, Kansas to William Clarence and Mary Lucille Cunningham Foster on January 31, 1935 and passed away on October 5, 2017 at the age of 82 years. She attended college at Central Methodist College. She married Oliver Willard "Bud" Campbell June 12, 1955 in Cabool, Missouri. She put her college education on hold to raise her children. She completed her elementary education degree at Missouri Southern State College in 1977. LeAnn worked many years in the area of special education and later retired from the Lamar VoTech School. She was an accomplished writer and authored many devotionals, magazine articles, and books. Her first novel was published when she was 75 years old and she went on to publish a series of children's mystery novels. Bud and LeAnn were active at the First Christian Church in Lamar, Missouri. They served together in the bus ministry and she taught in the children's ministry. They served as Ombudsmen at Truman Healthcare in Lamar for over 25 years. LeAnn was active in the Barton County Retired Educators, Highway Wives, Christian Writer's Fellowship and Writer's Critique Groups. She was selected as the Missouri Mother of the Year in 1997. He married Clara Mae Payne Hoerstkamp on September 17, 2017 in Sullivan, Missouri. Joe attended Cave Springs Baptist Church at Spring Bluff, Missouri. For 21 years, he worked for Harry's Tires in Sullivan, Missouri. From 1993 to 2008, he and Clara owned Town and Country Tire in Cuba, Missouri. Joe enjoyed watching stock car racing and watching the St. Louis Cardinals. James "Donnie" Smith James "Donnie" Smith of Bourbon, Missouri was born on September 1, 1941 to James Walter and Lucinda Gertrude (Jones) Smith in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away Monday, October 9, 2017 at the age of 76 years. Donnie, as he was known by his family and friends, had an extensive work history that included Green Thumb Nursery, Jansen IGA, Bruns Vault Company, Mount Hope Cemetery and being a custodian for Sullivan schools. Donnie married Fontella Ruth Haack on June 7, 1961 in Waterloo, Illinois. He was a very outgoing person who never met a stranger and enjoyed many lifelong friendships. He took great pride in his immaculate lawn at his home and enjoyed coon hunting and fishing in his free time. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Katrina L. Werley and Abagail S. Edgar and passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the age of 2 years. Chandler loved all the things boys love; boats, trucks, balls, animals, water, fishing poles, trampolines and his boots. He spent hours watching Paw Patrol and watched the movie "Zootopia" many times. If he got to pick what was for lunch he wanted cheese, hotdogs and mac and cheese or if he was at papa's house he wanted scrambled eggs with ketchup. Chandler wanted to dip almost everything he ate in ranch dressing. But if he truly got his way it was Mt. Dew, candy and popsicles every day. Chandler loved listening to music, especially country and rock. He would dance if there was music playing and when there was a marching band playing, he had to stop and watch. Connie married Charles Thomas Wofford Sr. on December 21, 1965 in Granite City, Illinois and to this union three children were born. Connie was a homemaker, she loved taking care of her home, children and grandchildren. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing bingo, cards and Yahtzee.
