Dodd, Sr. of Bourbon, Missouri, passed away in his home on October 4, 2004 at the age of 82 years. John was born on September 22, 1922 to Yeiser Euclid Dodd and Vesper Anne Lilly in Ridgeway, Missouri. After graduating high school and serving in the U.S. Navy, John attended and received his teaching degree from Peabody College. He taught science at Sullivan Junior High School for many years and retired from there. Besides his love for teaching, John enjoyed his motor scooters and loved his family. He was married to Barbara Brauer on February 2, 1962, in Desoto, Missouri and moved to Bourbon in 1968. He was a good teacher, husband and father. John is survived by his wife, Barbara Brauer Dodd of the family home, four sons, John Jr. and his wife Martha of Lynnville, Tennessee, Ben and wife Kalani of Bourbon, Randy and wife Donna of Portland, Tennessee and Douglas and wife Susan of Maryville, Tennessee. Eight grandchildren, Kaitlynn, John Travis, Will, Alan, Matthew, Hope, Rosemary and Hanna and one great granddaughter Kaitlan. John was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert Dodd. Interment for John E. Dodd Sr. was conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at the Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri. Gary Ellis Gowers Gary Ellis Gowers was born Sunday, January 17, 1954, at Steelville, Missouri, a son of Ruby Haffer Gowers and the late Ellis Everette Gowers. He died suddenly, Friday, October 8, 2004, near Washington, Missouri, at the age of 50 years, 8 months and 21 days. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Janice Carol Gowers. Gary maintained heavy equipment for Krupp Construction Company and lived in Gerald, Missouri. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving parents, Ruby and Bill Barman of St. Louis, Missouri; three sons, Gary Raymond Gowers and wife Kyungsook of Seoul, Korea, William Paul Gowers and wife Cally Jo of St. Louis, Missouri, Jason Ellis Andrews Gowers and wife Sarah of Gerald, Missouri; one daughter Danylle Ann Marie Greife and husband Jason also of Gerald, Missouri. Two brothers, Eugene Gowers of Steelville, Missouri, David J. Gowers of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Heidi Gowers, Ethan Gowers and Macean Greife; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Gary Ellis Gowers lay in state 3-8 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2004, at the Britton Bros. Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2004, in the Britton Chapel with Gary's son, William Paul Gowers officiating. Committal prayers and interment were in Haffer Cemetery, Berryman, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers at the funeral home were Barry Laycook, Steve Rabbit, Steve Reel, Art Woolsey, Junior Wopplehorst and Tom Wright. Serving as pallbearers at the cemetery were Martin Angell, Roger Crocker, Eugene Gowers, Jason Greife, Kenny Hahn and Steve Rappe. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Boyd and Danny Wright. Mary Nadine Nichols Mary Nadine Nichols of St. James passed away Saturday, October 9, 2004 at the Phelps County Regional Hospital. She was 73 years of age. Mary Nadine Nichols was born in Keysville, Missouri, on June 21, 1931 the daughter of the late John Thompson and Sarah Elizabeth (Key) McMillen. Mary Nadine Nichols is survived by son: Bobbie Nichols and wife Leatta of Rolla, Missouri; daughters: Mary Rinehart and husband Robert, Donna Bock and husband Larry, Debbie Bartle and husband Marvin and Edna Dillon and husband Terry, all of St. James, Missouri. Brother: Claude McMullen of St. James and sister Edna Clonts of St. James, Missouri, and sister-in-law Virginia McMullen of St. James, Jean McMillen of Fenton, Missouri. Along with eight grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Rainey Nichols on June 20, 1978, one granddaughter: Tracie Lea Nichols; three infant brothers, seven brothers: Sidney, Ross, William Thompson and wife Jacques, James Lee, Justein Eugene, Lawrence Floyd and Clarence Dale McMullen; and one sister; Minnie Gray and husband Glen Gray. Sister-in-law Barbara McMillen and brother-in-law, Thurston E. Clonts. Mary Nadine was known to her family and close friends more by her middle name, Nadine and by Aunt Nake by many of her nieces and nephews. She was faithful, hardworking, military wife for the 21 years that her husband, Rainey was in the Navy. He was at sea on a submarine, for many months without any contact with them at all. During hurricanes, the sub would have to leave port and Nadine would prepare the family for the coming storm. Upon Rainey's retirement from the Navy, they moved their family to St. James. They made many friends in the community and, unlike military life, many of these friends are still here today. Nadine enjoyed working on their farm north of St. James. In 1977 they built a home there. After her husband Rainey passed away in 1978 (on the same day her mother also passed away), Nadine was left to care for the three children that were still at home. She remained at this home until 2001, when she moved into St. James. Her family was most important to her and she was active in their lives. She enjoyed canning produce from their gardens and watching the grandkids. She loved to work jigsaw puzzles, cooking, pinochle games and occasional trips to auctions, the family reunions, and the senior bus tours with the Cuba Prestige Club. But most of all she loved and enjoyed her grandchildren. Mary Nadine Nichols was in state at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James from 6-9 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2004. Services for Mary Nadine Nichols were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at the Jones Funeral Home in St. James with Ken McDaniel officiating. Pallbearers were Larry Bock, Terry Dillon, Robert Rinehart, Travis Bock, Ryan Nichols, and Johnny Stroud. Burial was in the family plot at the St. James Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in St. James. Allan Forester Rowden Allan Forester Rowden of Leasburg, Missouri was born on December 10, 1936 in Kirkwood, Missouri to the union of Charles Gomer Rowden and Virginia Margaret Forester Rowden and passed away suddenly on October 12, 2004 at the Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, Missouri at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 2 days. On April 19, 1958, Allan was united in marriage to Kathleen Joy in Hampshire, England. Three sons, Charles, Patrick and Mark and three daughters, Linda, Debbie and Tammy were born to this union. They had been happily married for 46 years. Allan was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Patrick Allan Rowden, one daughter, Debbie Jo Rowden, three brothers, Charles T. Rowden, Melvin L. Rowden and Earl W. Rowden and his cousin, Louise Redington. Allan retired out of the United States Navy after 22 years of service. He also retired, after 20 years from the Missouri Highway Patrol. Allan was a member of the Cattlemen's Association. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his devoted wife Kathy Rowden of Leasburg, Missouri; children, Linda Sue Ransom and husband Larry, Charles Lee Rowden and wife Terri, Tammy Lynn Byrd and husband Barrie and Mark Allan Rowden and wife Rhonda, all of Leasburg, Missouri. Six grandchildren, Jeremy Ransom and wife Melissa, Tara Byrd, Tori Rowden, Jacob Rowden, Nicholas Rowden and Michael Byrd; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Allan was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, and good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Joan Scott Joan Scott, nee Thomas, of Columbia, Missouri was born on January 24, 1933 to the union of Clarence W. Thomas and Ida Evelyn Taylor Thomas and passed away on October 11, 2004 at the Boone County Hospital, Columbia, Missouri at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 17 days. Joan was preceded in death by her parents. In May of 1950 she was united in marriage to Aaron Rook. One son, Randy, was born to this union. On December 6, 1986 she was united in marriage to Joseph Scott. Joe preceded her in death on January 19, 1987. Homer Charles Tabor Homer Charles Tabor was born Friday, September 15, 1950 in Susanville, California, a son of Kathryn Tabor (Nee Theil) and the late Homer C. Tabor and passed away at his home in Steelville, Missouri, Tuesday, October 12, 2004 at the age of 54 years and 27 days. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Gessler. Homer was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps on March 4, 1979 where he served faithfully for ten years. He was promoted to a Lance Corporal on July 10, 1970. He was very proud of the fact that he served his country in the Vietnam War and he talked about it often. As a young man he was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout. He liked to hunt, fish, play shuffleboard, ride four-wheelers and spend time with family and friends. He was proud of his family especially his grandchildren. He was a kind-hearted man who would do just about anything for anybody. He volunteered his time to help with benefits, kids Christmas party and BBQ dinners at the Country Club. Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his loving mother Kathryn Tabor of Prescott, Arizona; one son Bryan Tabor of Washington, Missouri; one brother James Tabor of Prescott Valley, Arizona; two sisters Sandra and John Peltz and Linda and Joe Suckley all of Phoenix, Arizona; two grandchildren, Kathryn and Austin Tabor; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly. Theodore Whalen Theodore Whalen, son of the late Theodore and Florence (Hunt) Whalen, was born on June 11, 1927 in Indiana and entered into rest on October 15, 2004 at Cuba, Missouri at the age of 77 years. Theodore was preceded into rest by his parents. Theodore will be missed by his surviving family: wife Jackie Whalen of Cuba, Missouri; children Ted Whalen of Wisconsin, Reesa Bryson of Auburn, Kentucky, Charles Whalen of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Anthony Whalen of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dee Weaver of Bowling Green, Kentucky. Step-children Valerie Schatz and husband Mark of Sullivan, Cheryl Schebaum and husband Merrill of Chesterfield, Missouri, Kris Guerrant of Gerald, Missouri, Melinda Ludwig and husband Eric of Eureka, Missouri. Sister Patricia Branson of Grovertown, Georgia and brother Ronald Whalen of August, Georgia. Theodore also had 15 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Whalen were held Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 5 p.m. at the James and Gahr Chapel with Charles Ledbetter officiating. Interment at the Bowling Green Gardens Cemetery in Bowling Green, Kentucky following a memorial serviced at J.C. Kirby & Sons Funeral Home in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Tuesday, October 19, 2004. Vieman Eugene Woodcock Vieman Eugene Woodcock of Bourbon, Missouri was born June 25, 1917 at Sullivan, Missouri to the union of John Woodcock and Stella Manion Woodcock and passed away at Bourbon, Missouri at the age of 87 months, three months and 18 days. December 5, 1941, Vieman was united in marriage to Versa Parrish in Linn, Missouri. Vieman and his wife Versa owned and operated Cuba Ready Mix and Excavating Co., developed and owned Indian Hills Motel, Gas Station, Mini Mart, Laundry and Mobile Home Park. Vieman build Indian Hills Utilities and was the managing partner until his retirement in 1973 at the age of 57 years. He was also a member of the Cuba Lions Club. In addition to his parents, Vieman was preceded in death by his wife Versa and five infant children. He and Versa had almost 50 wonderful years together until her death on February 25, 1991. Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his two daughters, Kathy Kreutzer and husband Charles and Pat Beckerman and husband Roger; five grandchildren, Krista Arisman and husband Mark, Kori Kreutzer, Kelly, Kevin and Kraig Wood. Eleven great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Vieman was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, and good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed. Vieman Eugene Woodcock was in state at the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Thomas B. Christell Jr. officiating. Interment was in the Meramec Hills Cemetery, Cuba, Missouri. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri. Tina Marie Wright Tina Marie Wright, 48, of Owensville, died Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at her home. She was born on June 14, 1956, in Gary, Ind. to Otto and Dorthea Kyle Klien. They preceded her in death. She married Dale Wright in Blytheville, Ark. on Aug. 4, 1986. She was a homemaker. Her husband survives her. She also leaves behind three daughters, Brandy Koob, of Rolla, Billie Jo Kirwin and husband Jerry of Norfolk, Vir., and Kimberly Ruholl and husband Lee of Effingham, Vir.; two sons, Rocky Walker of Effingham, Ill. and Kenny Brown of Wood River, Ill.; a brother, Ron Klien and wife Norma of Alton, Ill.; a sister, Debra Peterson of Springfield; a brother-in-law, Gary Callahan of Cuba; and nine grandchildren.
