MO Local Obituaries for the Week of October 23, 2019 Daniel Joseph Burt Jr. Daniel Joseph Burt Jr. of Union, Missouri, formerly of Sullivan, Missouri, was born on July 12, 1949 in St. Louis, Missouri to Daniel Joseph Sr. and Leona (Woodcock) Burt and passed away Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the age of 70 years. After high school he honorably served his country in the United States Navy in Quadrant 11 P3. After service Daniel attended college and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He was employed as a manager at R.F. Spaghetti Factory for a time, however his great love was playing in the Rock and Roll Bands, Alias and Fire Penny. The band opened for other bands such as Fog Hat, Rare Earth, Rocky Mountain Daredevils, Mommas Pride and Little River Band. Daniel was also very artistic and was a talented painter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Sr. and Leona Burt; and sister, Nancy Machelette. He is survived by his children, Amber Burt of Union, Missouri and Travis King of Bourbon, Missouri; former wife, Janet Jansen; half brother, Tracie Burt of St. Clair, Missouri; nieces and nephews, Micah Machelette and wife Cindy, Lea Ann and Nate Machelette and Billy Machelette and wife Lisa; other relatives and friends. Celebration of Life gathering was held from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, Missouri with military honors performed at 4 p.m. According to Daniel's wishes cremation has taken place. Arrangements under the direction of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan, Missouri. Edward E. Gray Edward E. Gray of Keithville, Louisiana was born June 17, 1954 in Salem, Missouri to Russell E. and B. Virginia (Starks) Gray and passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the age of 65 years. Edward married Deborah Lynn Harrington in Steelville, Missouri on September 23, 1972. Ed was a very proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a General Motors employee and a dedicated union member for 30 plus years. Ed enjoyed boating, camping, hunting, NASCAR, and reading the newspaper. He was the source of much laughter for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Virginia Gray; daughter, Danielle "Spanky" Renee' Gray; and brother, Russell Alan Gray. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Lynn Gray; two daughters, Deborah Gray Moncla (Mark) and Kelly Lynn Gray; two sisters, Darlene Kay Gray Richards (Ricky), Carolyn Coleen Gray, brothers-in-law, Howard "Cas" Collins and Harold "Tab" Collins; four grandchildren, Storm "Bubba" Hudson (Kaila), Kyle "Boudreaux" Hudson, Kirsten "Toot-toot" Graham and Morgan "Monkey-butt" Graham; two step grandchildren, Zoe and Tucker Moncla; one great grandson, Collin "Bocephus" Hudson; other relatives and friends. Mary Joan Kepohl Mary Joan Kespohl was born on Monday, August 1, 1932, in Oak Hill, Missouri to Fred and Mary (Rutz) Brandenburger and passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019 in Cuba, Missouri. Joan was married for 41 years to Richard Kespohl. They moved around the midwest during their married life and were happy to return to their hometown of Cuba, Missouri in 1976. They had a wonderful life together, and he was constantly on her mind during her 25 year widowhood. She enjoyed getting together with friends and family through the years, who all have fond memories of times spent laughing and visiting and telling stories. She was an avid reader of the Post Dispatch and the Cuba Free Press, was an expert at crossword puzzles and never missed an episode of Jeopardy. She lived by her own rules and wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She had her own style in her dress and in her home and never worried about what others thought. She and Richard were a great host and hostess and always loved throwing a party. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Brandenburger; husband, Richard; brothers, John and wife Gerri Brandenburger, Bill Brandenburger and Jack Brandenburger; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jack Sims. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Jeff Cunningham and Sue and Tim Ryle; grandchildren, Richard and Shannon Cunningham and Max Ryle; sisters-in law, Pearl Brandenburger and Diane Brandenburger; other relatives and friends. Cynthia Ann Mouser Cynthia Ann Mouser of St. James, Missouri was born in Cuba, Missouri on September 17, 1954 to Gordon and Sally (Pitts) Hoyer and passed away on October 12, 2019 at the age of 65 years. Cynthia was a very outgoing person who never knew a stranger. Her favorite job was when was a beautician at Sally's Beauty Shop in Sullivan, Missouri where she was able to work along side her mom.. She enjoyed camping, listening to music, and taking walks in the wood. She and her sister Tammie loved riding go carts and four wheelers. She also enjoyed working with the kids at Valley Springs. She grew up in Lonedell, Missouri and attended St. Clair Schools. She married Gayle Orr on March 16, 1957 in Hernando, Mississippi. Caralee enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. Caralee took great pride in her yard and enjoyed working in it. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gayle Orr; her parents, Tom and Dorothy Manion; one grandson, Derek Savant; and her sister, Delma Manion. Martha Naomi Studdard Martha Naomi Studdard of Brazoria, Texas, previously of Sullivan, Missouri, was born on March 13, 1929 at Sullivan, Missouri to Willis G. and Melvina Pearl (Schoonover) Brown and passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the age of 90 years. She spent most of her life in Sullivan, Missouri. Martha worked as a telephone operator for Fidelity for many years. She retired in the late 1980's. Martha loved being with her family, as well as her dogs, Missy and Teddy. She also loved quilting and making jewelry with her friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jacob Lahmann, Bud Higgins and Pascal "Pat" Studdard; one son, Jimmy Lahmann; parents, Willis and Melvina Brown; one grandson, Jerome Schuster; and one brother, Floyd Brown. Thomas Harvie G Thomas of St. James, Missouri was born on July 3, 1922 in Irondale, Missouri to Wilburn A and Eva (Beers) Thomas and passed away on October 7, 2019 at the age of 97 years. Harvie proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during WWII at Pearl Harbor. On January 2, 1946 he married Miss Verena Chapman. He worked at Missouri S &T in Rolla, Missouri as a laborer, he retired after 16 years of service. Harvie loved being on the Current River, just relaxing, taking in the beauty of his surroundings. In the 1950's Harvie and Verena owned the Frosty Treat in Salem, Missouri. After he retired he spent his days fishing and gardening, something he has loved all his life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verena in 2002; parents, Wilburn and Eva Thomas; brothers, Earl and Herman Thomas; and sisters, Marie Warden, Violet Jacobs, Kathern Barr, and Mae Dockins. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Thomas and wife Angela of Walland, Tennessee; brother, Elwood Thomas of Belgrade Missouri; sisters, Lurie Belfield of Belleview, Missouri and Mary Martin of Clovis, California; grandchildren, Josiah, Ashlyn and Hannah; other relatives and friends.
