MO Local Obituaries for the Week of October 24, 2007 Sharon Ann Colyott Sharon Ann Colyott nee Douglas was born on Sunday, April 5, 1942 to Cecil Douglas and Zulia Gilbert Douglas in Altus, Oklahoma. She passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at the age of 65 years, 6 months and 5 days. Sharon married Ivan Colyott on April 5, 1959 in Altus, Oklahoma and to this union one daughter was born. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and enjoyed attending church. She loved her family and spoiled her grand- children who called her “Me Me.” She liked to listen to music and shop for purses and watches. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Newman Douglas; and sister, Sandra Arnold. She is survived by her husband, Ivan, of the home; daughter, Zanada (Ernie) Martin of Steelville, Missouri; brother, Cecil Paul Douglas of Texas; grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsea, Cassidy and Canaan Martin; brother-in-law, Gene Colyott, all of Steelville, Missouri; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Visitation was Wednesday, October 17, 2007 from 10-11 a.m. at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. William Lloyd Farris William Lloyd Farris, 92, of Columbia, Missouri died Tuesday, October 16, 2007 at his residence. William was born on February 19, 1915 in Canaan, Mo. to the late Matthew and Ida Belle Crider Farris. On December 24, 1955 in Mississippi he was united in marriage to Beulah Roberts. He was a member of the Delhi Baptist Church of Cuba, Mo., a 32nd Degree Mason of the Owensville Masonic Lodge #624 and a member of the Bledsoe-Bulas Post #6133. He had been a reserve deputy for Crawford County for nearly 20 years. He served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah; by twin girls in infancy; his brother Billy Farris; and by two sisters, Ida Marie Wilson and Muril Raines His survivors include his son, Donald Rose of Columbia, Missouri; his brother, Lowell Farris of El Paso, Texas; his sister Mertle Gleba of Mandino, Illinois; and two half-grandchildren, Randy Latall and wife Patty of Springfield, Missouri and Denise Pyles and husband Cliff of Fenton, Missouri. Gross, formerly of Sullivan, Missouri, was born during 1916 at Athonies Mill to Albert W. and Neva (nee Isgrig) Bishop, one of four children and passed away Monday, October 15, 2007 at the age of 91. She was united in marriage to Arthur Benjamin Gross, Sr. on February 14, 1936 and to this union three sons were born. June and her husband were both retired employees of St. Louis Post Dispatch and members of the Typographical Union Local #8. She enjoyed working as a Cub Scout leader traveling to Florida, swimming, and collecting seashells. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, John Bishop. She is survived by three sons, Arthur and wife Willa of Cuba, Missouri, Richard and wife Alice and William of San Diego, California; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; foster son, George Walsh of San Diego, California; brother, Albert Bishop of Bourbon, Missouri a sister, Kathryn Hicks of Potosi, Missouri; other relatives and friends. William Thomas Groves William Thomas (Tom) Groves, of Jefferson City, Missouri, was born December 12, 1926 in Clay County, Arkansas, a son of Willie and Audrey (McCann) Groves and passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the age of 80. He was united in marriage on October 1, 1949 at Corning, Arkansas to Margaret Bernice Bowd and to this union three children were born. He was a member of the Fairgrounds Church of Christ and a United States Air Force World War II veteran and served in the occupational force of Japan. He worked as a machinist at McQuay Norris in St. Louis, Missouri for over 30 years and retired in 1986. He was preceded in death by his father in 1965; his mother in 1999; three brothers, Lorn, Eugene and Hershel Groves; and one sister, Glenda Martin. He is survived by his wife, of Jefferson City, Missouri; two sisters, Virginia Bentley of Hillsboro, Missouri and Aline Hollis of Corning, Arkansas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charles and Carolyn Sebold of Hillsboro, Missouri and Larry and Brenda Northway of Jefferson City, Missouri; one son, Timothy W. Kevin Wayne Heironimus Kevin Wayne Heironimus of Cuba, Missouri was born to the union of Rev. Norman L. and Barbara M. (Jenne) Heironimus on January 20, 1973 in Wichita, Kansas and left from this life on October 20, 2007 in Cuba, Missouri at the age of 34 years and 9 months. Kevin was a forklift operator for Mar-Bal Inc. and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Kevin enjoyed cars, motorcycles and playing video games. He also was known as tinkerer and could usually be found tinkering with something. Kevin is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Pauline Heironimus, Charles and Treva Jenne. Doyle Levi Huntsman Doyle Levi Huntsman of Steelville, Missouri, was born on Wednesday, July 2, 1930 in Emerson, Iowa to Doyle Huntsman and Dorothy Margaret Shippey Huntsman. He passed away in his home on Sunday, October 14, 2007 at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 12 days. Doyle served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He worked most of his adult life in the service department of the automotive industry. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Emerson, Iowa and Steelville Country Club. He was involved in the St. James Boys and Girls Town of Missouri organization. His hobbies were hunting, playing cards, listening to music and dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beverly; and sister, Georgia Bullington. He is survived by his children, Doyle D. (Patricia) Huntsman, and Michael Huntsman, all of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Debbie (Edward) Huntsman-Kline of Brooklyn, New York; brother, Darrell D. Mickey Miloradovich Virginia Eileen “Mickey” Miloradovich, of St. Charles, Missouri and formerly of St. Louis and Cuba, Missouri, was born February 14, 1917 in St. Louis, Missouri and passed away October 8, 2007 at St. Joseph Heath Center in St. Charles, Missouri at the age of 90. Mickey was active in Cuba city government, elected as the city’s first woman alderman, serving from April 7, 1980 to April 4, 1986. She was appointed City Municipal Court Clerk on April 7, 1986 and served as City Treasurer from 1986 until 2001 as well as serving on the Parks Board. Past President of American Legion Post 493 in St. Louis and Post 522 in Cuba, Missouri, Mickey also volunteered with the Veterans Foreign Wars, Soldiers’ Home, Cuba Manor in Cuba and for various facilities. For several years she did volunteer work and was instrumental in the growth of the Cuba Senior Center and was nominated for the State of Missouri Volunteer of the Year Award. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Michael Miloradovich; her parents, James William Thomas and Annabelle; three sisters and four brothers. She is survived by four children, Judith Westermann(Paul),Karen Statzel, Michael Dennis and Gary Stephen (Susie); 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and her adoring cat, Missy Jade. So that future physicians could be trained, Mickey continued her giving nature by donating her body to St. Louis University Medical School. Donald L. “Whitey” Stahlhut Donald L. “Whitey” Stahlhut of Leasburg, Missouri, was born July 3, 1935 to Louis H. and Marie (Glassmeyer) Stahlhut and he passed away Monday, October 15, 2007. He married Helen Franke on May 19, 1957 in Edwardsville, Illinois. He worked as a supervisor for Olin Industries in 1994 after 41 years. He was a member of the Cuba United Methodist Church in Cuba, Missouri. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves. Don also played fast pitch softball in Edwardsville, Belleville and Alton. His other hobbies included bowling, hunting, fishing, trap and skeet shooting. He is survived by his wife; one son, Kurt (Vicki) Stahlhut of Troy, Illinois; four daughters, Sherry (Terry) Riva, Staunton, Illinois, Cindy (Paul) Callahan, Waterloo, Illinois, Tracy (Donald Jr.) Colburn, Brighton, Illinois and Robin Stahlhut of Leasburg, Missouri; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Ronald Stahlhut of South Dakota. Bessie Elizabeth Washburn Bessie “Betty” Elizabeth Washburn, of Holts Summit, Missouri, was born December 14, 1916 in Princeton, Kentucky to Albert and Martha (Nichols) Boitnott and passed away Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the age of 90. On September 22, 1934 she was united in marriage to Joseph C. Washburn, who preceded her in death on February 18, 1992. Mam-Ma, as Betty, was known by all her family and close friends was especially fond of her beloved son-in-law, Jim Litty. Betty’s husband J.C. was the pastor of many churches in Missouri. Together they spent almost 40 years in the ministry. In the early years of their ministry, Betty arose early on Sunday mornings and rounded up many families to attend Sunday School and church. She worked several years as a sales clerk in the women’s department in a downtown St. Louis boutique. She will be remembered for her love of reading, especially of politics, the St. Louis Cardinals, her church and most of all her family. She is survived by one daughter, Jo Ann Litty and husband Jim of Holts Summit, Missouri; two grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Anzalone and husband Bob of Fenton, Missouri, Chris Litty and wife Lesa of New Bloomfield, Missouri; two great granddaughters, Bethany Litty of Columbia, Missouri and Makayla Litty of New Bloomfield, Missouri. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “He Hideth My Soul” was sung by David Hewkin and Rev. Jerry Beers. Special memories of her grandmother were given by Debbie Anzalone and her husband Bob. A closing song of “Children of the Dust Out Among the Stars” was played. Interment was in the Steelville Cemetery. All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri. Roland E. Wood Roland E. Wood of Leasburg, Missouri was born to the union of Joseph and Gertrude (nee Jarrett) Wood on Friday, February 6, 1931 at Aurora, Missouri and passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Owensville, Missouri at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 14 days. Roland was united in marriage to Katherine Wenzel on October 27, 1951 at Salem, Arkansas and to this union three children were born. He graduated from Monett High School and continued his education receiving an engineering degree from Chicago Tech University. He worked for the highway department for many years in California and Missouri. He helped to build 60 plus bridges, several water plants, worked on many highways and helped with the Communication building in St. Louis. He received his 50 year gold membership from the AFLCIO Local 1839 carpenter’s union in St. Louis. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, Sunday afternoon NFL football games (especially the Dallas Cowboys), woodworking but most important was the magic tricks and practical jokes he could play on his children when they were young. He also had a great sense of humor, was a giving person, kind hearted and extremely generous to those in need. He is preceded in death by one son, Joseph Wood; his parents; five brothers; six sisters and other relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years; one daughter, Sandra Paul of Sullivan, Missouri; one son Clifford O. and wife Wendy Wood of St. James, Missouri; six grandchildren, Evan and wife Aleta Paul, Kristi and Brittany Wood, Courtney Wood Gardner and husband Cory, Jeffrey and Michelle Wood; three step grandchildren Chuck, Shawn and Hannah Watson; two great grandchildren, Ariana Paul and Mackenzie Gardner; one step great grandchild, Chuck Watson, Jr., nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. August Lee Zink August Lee Zink was born April 24, 1930 to Carl and Minnie Zink in St. Louis, Missouri. He married Dorsietta Loughrige March 18, 1955 and they celebrated 53 years together. August loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, gun shooting matches. He was also a member of the Newburg Masonic Lodge. August was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Zink; and half-brother, Ed Zink. He is survived by his wife of the home; three sisters, Mary Jane Vitali and Joseph of Oklahoma, Shirley Hufford of Kansas City, Missouri, and Virginia Farris of Cuba, Missouri; brother-in-law, Rayburn Loughrige of Springfield, Missouri; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
