Lottie Belle Blanton
Lottie Belle Blanton of Cuba, Missouri was born on January 22, 1940
in Bourbon, Missouri to the union of Arthur Blanton and Mary
Elizabeth Fenton Blanton and passed away on October 17, 2004 at her home
near Cuba, Missouri at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 25 days.
Lottie was preceded in death by her father Arthur Blanton,
mother, Mary Elizabeth, by Arlie Hensely, who raised her and was like a
father, one brother, Bud Blanton and two sisters, Tootsie (Magdaline)
Crider and Ellen Overbey.
Those who survive to mourn her passing from this life are her
two sons, Torben Jacobsen and wife Lou Anne and Rudy Jacobsen; three
daughters, Mona Halligan, Eyvonna Kapsis and husband Tony and Kittie South
and husband George; dear friend Charlie Williams; three brothers, Bob
(Robert) Blanton, Adrain Blanton and wife Jane and Arthur Blanton and wife
Vicky; six sisters, Nadine Walters, Shirley Melton, Inkie (Elda Jane)
Beck, Polly (Stella May) Coffman and husband Woodrow, Carol Brewer and
husband George and Ruth Lankford and husband Dean; 11 grandchildren; one
great granddaughter; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Lottie was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother,
good friend to all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Lottie Belle Blanton was in state at the Britton Funeral Home
of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on Friday, October 22,
2004 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Bob Coleman officiating. Interment was in the
Bourbon Cemetery, Bourbon, Missouri. All arrangements were under the
direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Lola Marie Cook
Lola Marie Cook (nee Bowen) was born Sunday, October 20, 1907
at Bogard, Missouri, a daughter of the late Emanuel Harvey Bowen and
Middie Eunice (Douglas) Bowen.
She entered eternal rest Friday, October 15, 2004 at the Cuba
Manor, Cuba, Missouri, at the age of 96 years, 11 months, and 25 days.
Lola Marie Cook had been a resident of this community for 66
years, since moving to Steelville in 1938 when she married Everett E.
(Ted) Cook. Together they raised six children, two daughters, Betty and
Eunice, and four sons, Charles, Everett (Ernest), Arthur, and Gerald
(Jerry) on a one-hundred acre farm in the Center Point Community. Lola was
a homemaker and loved cooking for her family, other relatives and friends
who were many that came down Route 66 from St. Louis. Lola was a faithful
member of Center Point Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lola was preceded in
death by seven brothers, Christie Harvey Bowen, Robert Otey Bowen, Jimmie
Dee Bowen, John Willard Bowen, Jesse Martin Bowen, Orvil Leo Bowen, Ernest
Carlisle Bowen; one sister, Lovey E. Whitacre; two son-in-laws, Virgil
Hill and Dellis Hill; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Among those who remain to mourn her passing are her two
daughters, Betty Hill of Festus, Missouri and Eunice Hill of Rolla,
Missouri; for sons, Charles Cook and wife Nellie of Ballwin, Missouri,
Everett (Ernest) Cook and wife Janet of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Arthur
Cook and wife Rusty and Gerald (Jerry) Cook and wife Sandy all of
Steelville, Missouri; one brother Fred Bowen and wife Kathy of Fisher,
Indiana; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and 14 great great
grandchildren; nieces; nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Lola Marie Cook lay in state 5-8 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2004
at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2004,
in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Matthew Cook officiating. Musical
selections were provided by pianist, Yvonne Fulton, vocalist Kim Cook and
Rusty Cook.
Committal prayers and interment were in the Steelville
Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri. Honoring their grandmother as pallbearers
were Dennis and Gary Cook, sons of Ernest and Janet, David Hill, son of
Betty Hill, Kyle Hill, son of Kenneth and Jane Hill, Mark Cook, son of
Jerry and Sandy Cook, Jacob Cook, son of Matthew and Sharon Cook. Honorary
pallbearers were Ralph Harman, Bill Walker and Steve Eads.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Darlene Elenora DeRennaux
Darlene Elenora DeRennaux (nee Morehouse) was born Monday, May 12, 1930
at Taft California, a daughter of the late Charles Ray Morehouse
and Eura Melinda Ruth (Stafford) Morehouse.
She entered eternal rest at Phelps County Regional Medical
Center Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the age of 74 years, 5 months, and 7
days.
Darlene worked in the shoe industry at Brown Shoe Co.,
Steelville, Missouri for over 20 years as a sewing machine operator.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by
one son, John L. DeRennaux II and three brothers, Marvin, Donald, and
Kenneth Morehouse.
Those who survive to mourn her passing are her husband, John
L. DeRennaux of Rolla, Missouri; two daughters and four sons, Linda Mabe
and husband John of Steelville, Missouri, Duane DeRennaux and wife Faith
of Cuba, Missouri, Sherrie Hanks and husband Gary of Lohman, Missouri,
Ricky DeRennaux and wife Sherry of Moore, Oklahoma, Kevin DeRennaux and
wife Stacie, and Darrell DeRennaux all of Steelville, Missouri.
Also remaining are two sisters Margie Chasteen and husband
Willie of Rolla, Missouri, LaVaughn Luebbert of St. James, Missouri;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Mrs. Marvin) Morehouse and
Rita (Mrs. Donald) Morehouse both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Floyd Rennaux
and Bill Bray of St. Louis, Missouri; 15 grandchildren; four great
grandchildren; nieces; nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Missouri.

Committal prayers and interment were in the Shoal Creek
Cemetery, rural Steelville, Missouri. Honoring their grandmother as
pallbearers were Alan, John III, Dustin, and Barry DeRennaux, Michael,
Matthew and Marcus Mabe, and Wesley Hanks.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Brothers
Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
Corbett Harrison Green
Corbett "Corbie" Harrison Green was born Sunday, May 6, 1926,
in Davisville, Missouri, a son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Harris)
Green. Corbie entered eternal rest Sunday, October, 17, 2004 at the Gibbs
Care Center, Steelville, Missouri at the age of 78 years, 5 months, and 11
days.
Corbie was united in marriage to Betty J. Smith on October 4,
1947 at the home of his parents in Cherryville, Missouri. Rev. Henry Butts
performed the ceremony. Four boys and three girls were born to this union.
They enjoyed over 57 years together at the time of his passing.
Corbie served his country in the United States Army during the
Korean War and many years later to quote Corbie's own words, "at the age
of 56 years," he accepted Christ in his heart and become a true soldier
for the Lord.
If you could identify Brother Corb with one of the men of the
Bible, we would say he was a David, one who had a heart for God and loved
to worship Him. In like manner as David who danced before the Lord,
Brother Corbie's joy would overflow as he walked the aisle at Center Ridge
and the neighboring churches where he loved to testify about the goodness
of the Lord he served. He faithfully attended Center Ridge Pentecostal
Church, Davisville, Missouri, until his health begin to fail.
In addition to his parents, Corbie was preceded in death by
two sisters, Delpha Brown and husband Harry, Virginia Brown and husband
Howard, two brothers, Glen Green and wife Jessie, and Cordell Green; and
brother-in-law, Duel Eaton.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted
wife, Betty of the home in Davisville, Missouri; their seven children, Ron
Green of Davisville, Missouri, Donna Alvey and husband Chester of
Cherryville, Missouri, Allen Green and wife Lisa of Sligo, Missouri,
Michael Green and wife Karen of Caledonia, Missouri, Roger Green and wife
Patty of Cherryville, Missouri, Tammy McCartney and husband Pat of House
Springs, Missouri, and Robin Green of Cherryville, Missouri.
One sister, Roseann Eaton of Cherryville, Missouri;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Diane Green of Cuba, Missouri, Patty
Richardson, Lorraine Grovo and husband Verlon, Rodney Byrd and wife Sandy
all of Festus, Missouri and Robert Smith of California; 15 grandchildren;
21 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many
friends.
Corbett "Corbie" Harrison Green lay in state 5-8 p.m. Tuesday,
October 19, 2004 at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville,
Missouri.
Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 20,
2004, in the Britton Chapel with Rev. Harrison Brown officiating. Musical
selections were provided by Bob and Carol Coleman accompanied by pianist,
Shirley Brown.
Committal prayers and interment were in the Gregory/Green
Cemetery, Cherryville, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were his sons,
Ron, Allen, Michael and Roger Green, grandson, Wesley Green and
grandson-in-law Michael Hicks.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Glenn Lester Haferkamp
Glenn Lester Haferkamp of Cuba, Missouri was born on February
7, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Glenn W. Haferkamp and
Sarah Schickman Haferkamp and passed away at his home on October 21, 2004
after a long illness.
On April 8, 1989 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Susan
Pettig. They had been happily married for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by her mother and father, one son,
Daniel Haferkamp and one sister Cynthia Ann Haferkamp.
Glenn retired in 1997 after working for 35 years at McDonnell
Douglas Aircraft. During that time he owned a pest control business for 10
years. After retirement he worked for Wireless Retail for one year and H &
R Block for five years.
His hobbies were hunting, fishing and working in his own wood
shop making beautiful furniture. He and Rebecca enjoyed traveling.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his
devoted wife Rebecca Haferkamp; children Elaine Caldwell and husband Mike
of St. Peters, Mo., Cynthia Haferkamp of O'Fallon, Mo. and Jason Haferkamp
and wife Shauna of St. Charles, Mo. (currently serving in the U.S. Army in
Korea); two brothers, Richard Haferkamp and wife Deborah and Matthew
Haferkamp and wife Lisa; one sister, Susan Crable; stepchildren, James
Pettig of St. Charles, Mo., Terry Pettig of St. Charles, Mo., Katherine
Tegeler of St. Louis, Mo., Jeffery Pettig of St. Louis, Mo., Kimberly
Wallace and husband Jim of Belle, Mo.; grandchildren Shala Garcia,
Michael Caldwell, Alex and Ethen Haferkamp, Racheal Pettig, Jason and
Jennifer Pettig, Dustin, Valarie and Alex Tegeler, Jessica and Zachary
Wallace; seven nephews; two nieces; aunts; cousins; and many friends.
Glenn was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather,
brother, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Glenn Lester Haferkamp was in state at the Britton Funeral
Home of Cuba, Missouri on Sunday, October 24, 2004. Memorial services were
held on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at 11 a.m. at the Cuba United Methodist
Church with Rev. Paul Lathum officiating.
All arrangements were under the direction of the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri.
Lawrence L. Helmering
Lawrence L. Helmering was born Wednesday, October 27, 1926, at
St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Harold Henry Helmering and Ruth
Beatrice Helmering (nee Haffner).
He departed this life Sunday, October 17, 2004, at the Phelps
County Regional Medical Center, Rolla, Missouri, at the age of 77 years,
11 months and 20 days.
Larry served his country in the United States Army, receiving
the rank of S SGT. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory
Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and 1 Overseas Bar. He was honorably
discharged, December 23,1946 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois.
On June 24, 1950, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Larry was
united in marriage, by Father Joseph Boland, to Sue Sutton, daughter of
Stella and William Sutton. They have been blessed with three sons. Larry
was a self-employed farmer. He and Sue were recognized in 1983 for
Outstanding Farm Management at an award dinner held in St. Louis,
Missouri.
Larry delivered farm-fresh eggs to individuals and businesses
such as restaurants, truck stops and nursing homes for more than 50 years,
beginning when he was a teenager. He was known as the "Egg Man", because
he "egg-celled" in producing fresh eggs on the family farm and then
delivering them.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an
infant brother, Robert Helmering; and brother-in-law, Bill Tanner and
Thomas Graham.
Among those who remain to mourn his passing are his devoted
wife Sue Helmering of the home in Cuba, Missouri; three sons, Alan
Helmering and wife Karla and Tim Helmering all of Linn, Missouri and David
Helmering of Steelville, Missouri; two sisters, Dorothy and husband Leslie
Viehman of Florissant, Missouri, Betty Tanner of St. Louis, Missouri.
Five grandchildren, Laura, Matt, Tracy, Bobby and Jamie
Helmering; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Ed of Cuba, Missouri, Tom
and Kathy of New Jersey and Ruby Graham of Steelville, Missouri; nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Lawrence L. Helmering lay in state 3-8 p.m. with prayer
service 7 p.m., conducted by Rev. Earl Horsefield, Tuesday, October 19,
2004, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 20,
2004, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Cuba, Missouri with Father James
Finder officiating. Musical selections were provided by organist Mary
Elders Pounds.
Committal prayers and interment were in Holy Cross Cemetery,
Cuba, Missouri. Serving as pallbearers were Alan, David, Tim, Bobby, and
Matt Helmering, Leslie Viehman, and Dan Tanner. Serving as honorary
pallbearer was John Carr.
Arrangements entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral Home,
Steelville, Missouri.
Opal May Pointer
Opal May Pointer (Lottmann), 84, Jerome, Missouri, passed away
October 19, 2004 at Frene Valley Nursing Home in Owensville, Missouri.
Opal was born July 21, 1920, in Franklin County near Champion
City. She was the eldest of 12 children born to the late Walter M. and
Grace M. (Wenkel)Lottmann. On December 21, 1947, Opal was married to Roy
Ray Pointer.
In addition to her parents, Opal is preceded in death by one
daughter, Debra Kay Pointer, seven brothers, Martin, Marvin, Melvin,
Walter, Elvin, Arlan and Neil Lottmann; one sister, Shirley Grob, a
grandson, Kenneth Paul Kleinberg, a great grandson, Casey L. Sherman, and
a daughter-in-law, Sandra Sue Pointer.
Opal will be greatly missed by her husband Roy, of the home in
Jerome, Missouri; a son Arthur R. Pointer of Des Moines, Iowa and two
daughters, Beverly J. Oaker of Vienna, Missouri and Marilyn K. Englehart
with her husband James P. of St. James, Missouri.
She was the proud grandma of 10 grandchildren and 19 great
grandchildren. She also has one brother Darvin Lottmann of Webster,
Florida; two sisters, Velma Hohenstreet of Beaufort and Arlene Mincemeyer
of Sullivan, Missouri and close friends Mary Hafner, Catherine Fritsch,
Doris Dodd, Liz French and Don Reese, as well as many other family and
friends too numerous to mention.
Opal graduated high school in Union in 1940. After moving to
California in 1952 with her new family she worked as a crossing guard for
11 years in Los Alamitos.
Several years later she returned to Missouri and co-owned and
worked in the Thrifty General Store between Cuba and Owensville for seven
years before retiring. Opal accomplished many things in her life, but none
more important to her than her wonderful grandchildren.
Those serving as pallbearers were: T.J. Travers, John Dix, Jim
Englehart, Don Emerson, Merv Hafner, Alfred Hohenstreet, Cory Sherman and
Jack Oaker.
Services were held on Saturday at the Sassmann's Chapel in
Bland, Missouri. Rev. Jim Zumwalt officiated.
Claude "Cookie" William Riley, Sr.
Claude "Cookie" William Riley, Sr., of Cuba, Missouri was born
on October 2, 1945 at Steelville, Missouri to the union of Henry Rosco
Riley and Ada Marie (Jarvis) Riley and passed away in Columbia, Missouri
on October 20, 2004 at the age of 59 years and 18 days.
On November 23, 1967 Cookie was united in marriage to Virginia
Conaway. One son, Claude, Jr. and one daughter, Nancy Lea, were born to
this union.
Cookie was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers,
Gene Riley, Johnny Riley and Marvin White and two sisters, Lucy Crider and
Nancy White.
He served in the Army of the United States of America and was
honorably discharged on August 21, 1973.
Those who survive to mourn his passing from this life are his
loving wife, Virginia Riley; son Claude W. Riley, Jr. and wife Malinda;
daughter, Nancy Lea Riley; two brothers, David White and James Riley;
three sisters, Mamie Cassity, Mary Juneau and husband Mark and Linda
Bridgeman and husband Clifford; five grandchildren, Claude W. Riley III,
Kymberly C. Riley, Amber N. Riley, Jacob M. Riley, Kristina Billiot;
step-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews;
other relatives and many friends.
Cookie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother,
uncle, good friend to all who knew him and will be sadly missed.
Claude "Cookie" William Riley, Sr. was in state at the Britton
Funeral Home of Cuba, Missouri where funeral services were held on
Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Herman Rodgers officiating.
Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Steelville,
Missouri. All arrangements under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home
of Cuba, Missouri.
Elmer Donald Scott
Elmer Donald Scott was born June 4, 1918 in St. Louis,
Missouri.
He passed away at Phelps County Regional Medical Center in
Rolla, Missouri, Tuesday, October 19, 2004, after a lingering illness at
the age of 86 years, 4 months and 15 days.
On October 25, 1941 Elmer was united in marriage to Genevieve
Scott (nee Watson) and to this union four sons and two daughters were
born.
Preceding him in death were his mother and step-father, Lucy
and Louis Fritz; one sister, Delcie Neff and husband Leonard; infant son
Steven George Scott, and one grandson.
Those who survive him include his wife Genevieve of the home
in Steelville; three sons, James Scott and wife Sandra of Steelville,
Missouri, Charles Scott and special friend Patricia of Waynesville,
Missouri, John Scott and wife Uda of Dixon, Missouri; two daughters, Mary
Norris and husband Marvin of St. James, Missouri, and Linda Plank and
husband Gary of Salem, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren;
18 great grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews;
cousins; relatives; and friends.
Elmer made his home in Crawford County his entire life. In his
youth he was a member of the C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corps) serving
in a camp in International Falls, Minnesota as well as Indian Trail Park
in Dent County, Missouri. He managed Peaceful Bend Farm for twenty-nine
years. Until his retirement he also drove a school bus and worked in
Maintenance for the Steelville R-3 School District for over 20 years.
Elmer never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
He loved the outdoors and loved fishing. After their retirement, he and
Genevieve spent a lot of years traveling to various states across the
United States.
Elmer David Scott lay in state 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 21,
2004, at the Britton Brothers Funeral Home, Steelville, Missouri.
Services for Elmer D. Scott were 11 a.m. Friday, October 22,
2004 in the Britton Chapel, Steelville, Missouri, with Rev. Alan Miles
officiating.
Honoring Elmer as pallbearers were his grandsons, Jeff Norris,
Chuck Scott, Anthony Plank, Steven Plank, and grandsons-in-law, James
Englehart and Craig Brown. Interment was in the family plot at Hibbler
Cemetery, Steelville, Missouri.
Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Britton Funeral
Home, Steelville, Missouri.
